    When you start working with SQL Server and SSIS, it isn’t long before you find yourself wishing you could change bits of SQL queries dynamically. Most commonly, I see people that want to change the date portion of a query so that you can limit your query to the last 30 days, for example.   • Smartassembly 5: it lives! Early Access builds now available

    I'm pleased to announce that, late last week, we put out the first early access build for Smartassembly 5, Red Gate's fantastic code protection and error reporting tool, which we acquired last September. You can download it via: http://www.red-gate.com/messageboard/viewforum.php?f=116 It's obviously pretty early days, so please do not try to use this to protect a production application, but we've already done a lot of work in some key areas: We're simplifying and streamlining the licensing model (you won't see this yet, but a lot of the work on this has already been done). We've improved usability of the product, with a better menu, reordering of project settings, and better defaults. We've also fixed a load of bugs, which I'll let Alex blog about in more detail. On a slightly more trivial level, the curly braces are also no more. Over the coming weeks, we'll be adding more improvements, and starting usability tests.   • How can I resume downloads in Perl?

    I have a project that depends upon some other binaries to be downloaded from web at install time.For this what i do is: if ( file-present-in-src/) # skip that file else # use wget to download the file The problem with this approach is that when I interrupt a download in middle, and do invoke the script next time, the partially downloaded file is also skipped (which is not desired), also I want wget to resume the download of the partially downloaded file. How should I go about it: Possible Solutions I could think of: Let the file to be downloaded to some file say download_tmp. Move to original file if successful. Handle SIG{'INT'} to write proper cleanup code. But none of these could help resume the partial file download, Any insights?

  • [solved] PHP-called hyperlink stopped showing when CSS table implemented

    EDIT: Solved - was not flutter's tag stripping, should work as advertised. I'm using Flutter (which creates custom fields) in Wordpress to display profile information entered as a Post. Before I implemented the CSS tables the link showed up and was clickable. Now I get nothing returned, even when I try to call the link outside the table.   • download mbox files over https using python

    I was trying to find the right module for downloading kernel patches from kernel.org site For example,to download the file at https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/62948/mbox/ I understand urlgrabber has a problem with https on debian. urllib2 seems to have problem with this url as well (says getaddrinfo failed, even though there are no problems reaching other urls) Any help would be appreciated

  • Conky graph frozen in time

    Is it possible to plot a graph in conky? Give a function a set of values 0-100 and conky plots a graph similar to execgraph? What I want is to visualize how a variable changed in last week. For example, I'd like to make a graph of gold prices in last 14 days. One way I could do that is use "execigraph 86400 python fetch_price_of_gold.py" and keep my box up 24/7 and eventually I'd get a nice graph. But, unfortunately my box isn't up 24/7. Not to mention I'd have to wait 14 days after every reboot ;-) So, any other ideas? :-)

  • File.mkdir is not working and I can't understand why

    Hello, I've this brief snippet: String target = baseFolder.toString() + entryName; target = target.substring(0, target.length() - 1); File targetdir = new File(target); if (!targetdir.mkdirs()) { throw new Exception("Errore nell'estrazione del file zip"); } doesn't mattere if I leave the last char (that is usually a slash). It's done this way to work on both unix and windows. The path is actually obtained from the URI of the base folder. As you can see from baseFolder.toString() (baseFolder is of type URI and is correct). The base folder actually exists. I can't debug this because all I get is true or false from mkdir, no other explanations.The weird thing is that baseFolder is created as well with mkdir and in that case it works. Now I'm under windows. the value of target just before the creation of targetdir is "file:/C:/Users/dario/jCommesse/jCommesseDB" if I cut and paste it (without the last entry) in windows explore it works...

  • WPF Binding with RelativeSource of Window Requires "DataContext" in Path?

    The following code works, but I'm curious as to why I need the Path to be prefixed with "DataContext"? In most other cases, the path used is relative to DataContext. Is it because I am using a RelativeSource?   • How to fake source ip-address of a udp-packet?

    Hi everyone! Think about the following: Your ISP offers you a dynamic ip-address (for example 123.123.123.123). My question is simple (the answer may not): Is it possible to send a single udp-packet with a outer source-ip (for example 124.124.124.124) to a fixed-ip server? I don't need to get a answer from the server. I just want to know if/how this one way communication can be done, using a faked source-ip address. I'm sorry for my bad English!   • Access JavaScript variables with Selenium IDE

    I'm wondering if it's possible to access page JavaScript variables with Selenium. I have an application that's using a variable attached to the window object. It has a global scope and I can access it either with window._myvar, window['_myvar'], _myvar, this['_myvar'], this._myvar depending on the context. So I tried to get Selenium to echo it. As far as I understand, in Selenium IDE the context in which everything runs is selenium. I tried doing this.browserbot.getCurrentWindow()._myvar, this.browserbot.getCurrentWindow()[_myvar] to no avail. I get bumped with the following error Unexpected Exception: message -> eval(match[1]) is undefined. Anyone managed to access their page's JavaScript?

  • Why is PHP date() adding +1 hour in diff calculation?

    Hi there, I've got kind of a tricky question, I already searched every related question on Stackoverflow and neither solved my conundrum, although I think I'm running in circles, so here's the question: I've got this code: $val = (strtotime('2010-03-22 10:05:00')-strtotime('2010-03-22 09:00:00')) This returns correctly $val = 3900 (3600 seconds = 1 hour, 300 seconds = 5 mins) But doing this: echo date("H:i",$val)."<br>"; returns 02:05 even doing this: echo date("H:i",3900)."<br>"; returns 02:05 (just to be naively sure) Doing this: echo date("H:i eTO",3900)."<br>"; returns 02:05 System/LocaltimeCET+0100 Which is correct, my timezone is CET and is +1. What's going on? Is date() correcting the timezone for some reason? Or am I doing anything wrong?

  • Pitfalls when converting C++/CLI to C++

    I have a library written in C++/CLI and I want to open it up. I want it to be as cross-platform as possible and be able to write bindings to it for other languages to use (Java, Python, etc, etc). To do this, the library needs to be in plain C++ for maximum flexibility. I figure that the logical structures are already there, I just need to replace the .NET libraries it uses with the standard C++ ones. Is this a misguided notion? What should I watch out for when making this transition?

  • Main pricing and support for individual client pricing (Database Architecture ideas help - Rails)

    Hi all, I have a personal project I'm planning and I came to a small hurdle. I want to have an item with price that will be the default for all clients/users. However, in my business I have some clients that are grandfathered in to some special pricing. In the case of these grandfathered in cases, I'll manually plug their special price in my admin section. Then all they will see is their special pricing while the regular users/clients see the default price. What is the best and simplest way to design the back-end for this?   • Using switch and enumerations as substitute for named methods

    This pattern pops up a lot. It looks like a very verbose way to move what would otherwise be separate named methods into a single method and then distinguished by a parameter. Is there any good reason to have this pattern over just having two methods Method1() and Method2() ? The real kicker is that this pattern tends to be invoked only with constants at runtime-- i.e. the arguments are all known before compiling is done. public enum Commands { Method1, Method2 } public void ClientCode() { //Always invoked with constants!   • Lightweight Linux distro that includes developer tools? (or, the most BSD-like Linux)

    I cut my teeth on Minix and Slackware 1.1, but I've been in the OS X Wilderness for the last few years. I'm trying to standardize on a Linux distribution for personal and work-related use on less powerful laptops and under virtualization. So far, NetBSD and OpenBSD are the best fit for my purposes- but after plenty of frustration I've come to the conclusion that I need to stick with Linux to get the hardware and software support that comes with it. What I like about NetBSD/OpenBSD that I'd like to keep: X, but no default KDE, GNOME or XFCE! A sensible /etc and dot file setup- startx calls xinit, xinit looks for ~/.xinitrc; nothing more complicated than that is needed. Command line tools and file-based configuration: I shouldn't need a GUI to connect to a WAP. Decent selection of binary packages; building from source is OK, but nothing source-only like Gentoo. pkg_add (BSD) and apt-get both have treated me well in the past. Modest RAM and HDD requirements: boot + X + awesome+ two xterms takes up 80 MB on OpenBSD and 240 MB on Debian 5 and Crunchbang In my experience, most "lightweight" and Live CDs focus on a nice desktop environment crammed into a CD or USB stick; once you add build-essentials you end up with something just about as bloated as Ubuntu or Debian full install. Crunchbang is a great example. Thanks in advance for all suggestions!

  • Delete (not Unlink) a YouTube account?

    Hi, How do I go about deleting my YouTube account? It became associated with my Google Account under a stupid name, all I wanted to do was change it to my name. Unfortunatly, it's now become unlinked and I can't do anything with it. Ideally, I'd like to just delete it and start again - I don't think you can rename an account...does anyone know how?
