  • How would one go about adding (minor) syntactic sugars to Java?

    Suppose I want to add minor syntactic sugars to Java. Just little things like adding regex pattern literals, or perhaps base-2 literals, or multiline strings, etc. Nothing major grammatically (at least for now). How would one go about doing this? Do I need to extend the bytecode compiler? (Is that possible?) Can I write Eclipse plugins to do simple source code transforms before feeding it to the standard Java compiler?

    I have a class which I want to add a property with using formula attribute. Here is the mapping that I use in mapping file. <property name="CurrentUserVote" type="Climate.Domain.Vote, Climate.Domain" formula="(select v from Vote v where v.AchievementId=Id and (v.IP=:CurrentUserVoteFilter.CurrentUserIP))"></property> As you see, I want this property to be an object which refers to class that already has an nhibernate mapping.   • jquery: mouseleave event seems to fire when it's not supposed to

  • Using Linq to select a range of members in a list

    Given a list of elements like so: int[] ia = new int[] { -4, 10, 11, 12, 13, -1, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, -2, 6, 15, 32, -5, 6, 19, 22 }; Is there an easy way in Linq to do something along the lines of "Select the elements from the -1 up to the next negative number (or the list exhausts)"? A successful result for -1 would be (-1, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4). Using -2 would give the result (-2, 6, 15, 32). Not a homework problem. I'm just looking at an implementation using a bool, a for loop, and an if wondering if there's a cleaner way to do it.

  • What's the best way to learn .NET?

    I've been developing Java EE for quite a while now. I've used WebLogic, Tomcat, Spring, and Hibernate extensively, so I have a mental model of what features are available and how things are developed and deployed. The problem that I have with .NET is that I don't have a clear mapping of its features onto Java EE. Here's what I know so far: Java EE - .NET Java - C# JAR - DLL WAR - ? (deployment in general) EAR - ? (deployment in general) Tomcat - IIS web server JSP - ASP? JDBC - ODBC JMS - MSMQ JTA - Microsoft Transaction Manager So much of the functionality that WebLogic handles appears to be dispersed throughout the Windows OS. My confusion kicks in when I see the waves of books at Borders - VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, etc. If I'm not a VB programmer, would it be possible to stick with C# and write enterprise apps that are the equivalent of what I'm used to with Java EE? If there were a Top Three list of books to learn from, what would they be?   • How to Handle Console.log and error output in JavaScript.

    I have a constructor that has a series of classes and functions within it - in each function I check if the param is set to show the error and output if so. Like so using an inline if. The issue and question is short of keeping two versions is this approach not wise in that each IF has to be evaluated thus adding to the time it takes to perform? debugSlide = (bag.debug==1)? console.log("item id =" + bag.itemId) : 0; How do you do this?     Hello, maybe it's not so proper to ask this question here... anyway, I'm trying to use the gmp library for the implementation of DH, but the problem here I got is: Once, when I was doing the tests to observe the output, although big values of prime and the private keys were selected: p was about more than 300 digits long in decimal a, b were about 100 digits long finally I got a shared secret key which was extremely small, perhaps smaller than 10^8 in decimal... This problem didn't show up many times, in fact, during all the observation, it appeared just once...but still, this was not so good at all. So I wonder if there are some methods which can avoid this... Thanx a lot

  • How can I enable MySQL's slow query log without restarting MySQL?

    I followed the instructions here: http://crazytoon.com/2007/07/23/mysql-changing-runtime-variables-with-out-restarting-mysql-server/ but that seems to only set the threshold. Do I need to do anything else like set the filepath? According to MySQL's docs If no file_name value is given for --log-slow-queries, the default name is host_name-slow.log. The server creates the file in the data directory unless an absolute path name is given to specify a different directory. Running SHOW VARIABLES doesn't indicate any log file path and I don't see any slow query log file on my server...

  • Pagination number elements do not work - jquery

    Hello, I am trying to get my pagination links to work. It seems when I click any of the pagination number links to go the next page, the new content does not load. literally nothing happens and when looking at the console in Firebug, nothing is sent or loaded. I have on the main page 3 links to filter the content and display it. When any of these links are clicked the results are loaded and displayed along with the associated pagination numbers for that specific content.   • Connection Refused running multiple environments on Selenium Grid 1.04 via Ubuntu 9.04

    Hello, I'm writing a selenium grid test suite which is going to be run on a series of different machines. I wrote most of it on my macbook but have recently transfered it over to my work machine, which is running ubuntu 9.04. That's actually my first experience with a linux machine, so I may be missing something very simple (I have disabled the firewall though). I haven't been able to get the multienvironment thing working at all, and I've been trying and manual reviewing for a while. Any recommendations and help would be greatly, greatly appreciated!   • ASP.NET MVC partial view does not call my Action

    I just started building a small simple Website on ASP.NET MVC, in a page I am using a Partial view, the Partial View represents a simple Form which should be submitted on button click, and If I click the first Time it is submitted with success and does return my partial view with my validation Messages (if the content is invalid) but if I wish to try again the Action isn't called again. Any Idea?   • How to call wordpress functions in custom php script

    I have a Php script I want to use for creating a new blog in WPMU. I am having trouble calling wordpress functions like "wpmu_create_user" and "wpmu_create_blog". My hope is to get this script running as a cron job from command line and pick up new blog creation requests from an external db, create a new blog using the wordpress functions and update the db with new blog info.   • Set up router to vpn into proxy server

    I have a small network with a single LinkSys router connected to broadband in US via Comcast. I have a VPN proxy server account that I can use with a standard Windows connection, allowing me to have a geographic IP fingerprint in Europe, this is useful for a number of purposes. I want to setup a 2nd router that automatically connects via VPN to this proxy service, so any hardware that is connected to router 2 looks as though it is originating network requests in Europe, and any hardware connected to my main router has normal Comcast traffic (all requests are originating from USA). My 2nd router is a LinkSys WRT54G2, I'm having trouble getting this configured. Question, is what I'm trying to do even feasible? Should the WRT54G2 be able to do this with native functionality? Would flashing it with DD-WRT allow me to achieve my objectives? Any help/suggestions much appreciated. Neil
