  • MySQL Throws NullReferenceException in Finalize... How are you coping with this?

    I am using MySQL with the .Net connector on 64 bit Windows. For some reason Mysql is throwing a NullReferenceException in Finalize. This is the problem here and it seems that its due to a bug described here. This bug was reported in 6.22, but I am getting the issue with 6.23 too so apparently it is not fixed. I am using MySQL both with the helper classes, and by instantiating the connection and the Mysqlcommand object. Does anybody have any idea what part of my code do I need to change to fix this issue? Cause even though this is a bug in Mysql this is not universal because I am not getting the problem in my other projects. MySQL bug report has no details on how to reproduce it either. Any suggestions?

  • Is make -j distcc possible to scale over 5 times?

    Since distcc cannot keep states and just possible to send jobs and headers and let those servers to use only the data just sent and preprocess and compile, I think the lastest distcc has problem in scalability. In my local build environment which has appx. 10,000 c/c++ files to build, I could only make 2 times faster than not using distcc (but using make -j) when having 20 build servers. What do you think is the problem? If anyone has achieved scalability more than 10 - 20 times using make -j and distcc, please let me know. The following product claims that it is impossible to scale make -j and distcc faster than 5 times. http://www.electric-cloud.com/products/electricaccelerator.php I think this can be improved by: Letting the distccd server to maintain sessions Tied to those sessions, they will cache their own header directories Preprocess will be done demand base from the distccd server This will be done through a LD_PRELOADed library libdistcc.so which will replace stat/open syscalls and fetches the header files over network. ... Has anyone done this kind of thing?

  • Windows Journal Eraser functionality

    Hey guys I want to add Eraser functionality in my software. I look down in the SDK of Windows Tablet PC SDK but i can't find any solution for that. there is one eraser sample in that SDK but that is not similar to feature which is in Windows Journal. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO ADD THAT ERASER FEATURE IN MY C# APPLICATION [I WANT SAME AS IN WINDOWS JOURNAL]? btw i am taking reference from Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Software Development Kit 1.7.

  • NYC Silverlight FireStarter - June 5th 2010 at the NYC Microsoft Office

    On Saturday June 5th, 2010, I spent my Saturday morning at the NYC Silverlight FireStarter. Presenting was Peter Laudati from Microsoft and Jason Beres, Matt Van Horn and Todd Snyder from Infragistics. I watched the Simulcast for the morning sessions as I was tied up with some work, but ended up finally making it to the Microsoft Office and had the opportunity to attend the last hour of the event in person.   For me, the quality of the Simulcast was as good as in-person attendance so far as sound/video quality and the interaction with speakers. In the background was a screen with tweets from remote attendees asking questions or commenting on the presentations. Presenters did periodically stop to answer the tweeted questions as well as questions from attendees. Only thing I missed was getting my hands on some of that swag that was (literally) flying in the air at the event floor.   Upon my arrival at the Microsoft Office Location in NYC, I spoke with Rachel Appel and Peter Laudati asking for permission to take a few photos to record the outstanding effort that took place in putting this event together. Both agreed and I started with putting my photography skills to work.   You can always gauge the quality of an event with the number of its attendees who opt to stay till the last minute as well as the level of interaction of the audience with the speaker. With most of the FireStarter attendees remaining till the very end of the talk, and with the many questions that were asked, one can simply judge the event as a success as per my aforementioned criteria.   Evaluation forms were passed around and Peter strongly encouraged the audience to openly speak their mind as they record their comments. I didn't get to submit my evaluation as I was busy recording the event in photos, so here it goes: I believe that lots of hard work was put into making this event a reality. Quality of speakers, topics and level of Geekiness at the event was outstanding.  Overall, aside from a minor issue with Lunch delivery time, this event was of high quality and I am very sure everyone's evaluation will be in line with my analysis of it being a great success.   • What's wrong with this bash prompt?

    I use the following entry in ~/.bashrc file to colorize the prompt and display current branch of git repository: PS1='\[\e[1;32m\]\[\u@\h\]\[\e[m\] \[\w\]\[\e[1;1m\]\[$(__git_ps1 " (%s)")\] \[\e[1;1m\]\[$\] \[\e[m\]' This works almost fine, except when I use bash history (up arrow key few times), the command line becomes 'outdented' (just the first characters of the prompt remains untouched), and the visible is: usemmand when my username is user and the command is command.

  • Where does traffic shaping typically take place?

    As part of upgrading our network infrastructure we are looking to traffic shape our bandwidth since we only have about 3Mb down / 1 Mb up. We're looking to prioritize it so that web browsing gets priority and in the future some VOIP might be added in as well. Internal LAN traffic doesn't need to be controlled just our outbound connection. I've been looking at Cisco hardware and it seems that several of their products do shaping at the core switch, firewall, and router level. I'm wondering where does shaping normally take place? Is it normally done at the router, core switch, or firewall?

  • fopen & fwrite function is not working from browser?

    fopen function is not working in php. I wrote the following code in my php file. $fh = fopen("/home/sugumar/Public_html/sugumar/public_html/123","a+"); fwrite($fh,"hello"); I ran this code from command line: php file_name.php its working fine. But If I run this code from browser it shows the following error.   • Should I change $_REQUEST to $_POST

    Hey guys quick question, I have a checkbox system where a list of items can be checked and deleted on the click of a button. I currently use request and it does the job but I was wondering if $_REQUEST was some sort of security risk or improper. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. Should I change to $_POST?   • Populate an SQL Server 2k8 with Oracle Loader files

    Hi folks. Here's the problem: I have a project that needs to be migrated to Microsoft SQL Server 2008. We have data in text files for the Oracle SQL Loader and now we need to get that data into the SQL Server DB. I could write a program that converts everything into INSERT statements but there has to be a more comfortable way to so this. Any suggestions? PS: I don't think my company wants to buy additional Software to do this job so that's out.

    Hi All, Does any one know, or is it possible to do one time payment, with paypal in android ? Consider the senario. Buyer purchases installs free application. Clicks on paypal module and makes in-app payment, purchases feature successfully. Buyer deletes application. All information including the feature purchase enty in database is deleted. Buyer reinstalls the application. Here is the catch, if he wants to use the feature he will have to do a re-purchase. Which I wann to avoid in my application. This is taken care in iPhoen in-app purchase. That is if a buyer has already purchased an feture or in-app item, and if he trys to repurchase it (item has been set to one time payment) , the in-app purchase transaction will succeed without the user actually having to repay for the item. Is there an solution for this can anyone help.

  • Windows 7 installer doesn't recognize NTFS partition.

    Hi, I'm trying to install windows 7 on my Macbook. I've created NTFS partition, but when i'm starting up Windows 7 installation, it says that i can't install windows on this partition, since drive already contains maximum amount of partitions with this filesystem type. I haven't heard of any limits on filesystems, but still i can't even format this drive from Win7 installer. I've found access to command line from win7 installation CD, but i can't find fdisk there to format. Do you have any idea on about how to deal with it?
