  • How to use CriticalSection - MFC?

    I' am working on a small example and am a bit of curious using criticalsection in my example.   • Canvas maximization bug?

    I must've killed over an hour on what seems to me like strange behaviour that happens in Firefox, Safari and Chrome. I've tried using various ways of obtaining the document dimensions, including nesting canvas in a 100% wide & tall absolutely positioned div, as well as extracting the document.documentElement.clientWidth/Height properties. Just to be sure I'm not going insane, I've placed an image in place of the canvas, and voila, the same code worked perfectly to stretch the image out to document dimensions. What am I doing wrong here? I'm too tired to understand. Must.. drink.. something.

  • how to display image in repeater after AJAX AsyncFileUpload ?

    Hello i am using the AsyncFileUpload from the ajaxtoolkit, upter the upload is complete , i want to display all the images that were uploaded (and their URL is inserted into the DB) with my repeater and binding method. but its not working! the images are uploaded, the DB insert works file, but i cant see the images after the repeater is dinded. If you want to go on a weekend fishing trip with the boys you might be called in to help sell the idea to your buddies wife. We all sell, but we don’t all sell very well. So enter The New Strategic Selling, a book based on the sales course put on by the Miller-Heiman group. In fact, this isn’t really a “New” strategy to selling as its been around for a number of years. But the concepts they present, the ideas about selling, these are still very radical based on what most of us have experienced. Gone are the high pressure, win at all cost, GlenGarry-GlenRoss style of sales…instead the book presents a framework to switch to need-based selling. It’s the idea that instead of going in raving about a product or service, you build a relationship where the buyer expresses what their needs are and your response is to present a solution that best fits that need. Instead of focussing on the amount of money you can squeeze out of a client, you focus on whether everyone wins, that they receive win-results from the engagement, that repeat business is developed over time delivering value over and over again. The great thing about the book is that what it teaches…things like how to identify different buying influencers, how to prepare for meetings, techniques to solicit information about what the buyer is really thinking/feeling…these things are entirely applicable in *any* situation that you need to sell to someone…and remember: selling is convincing people to see your point of view and act on it. So that new big screen TV you want to buy but need to convince your wife on? This book can help you. That training opportunity you want your company to send you on? This book can help you. The upgrade to your community park that you want to lobby the local civic authorities for? This book can help you. The book is a bit wordy. I found that the length could have been reduced and the points still have gotten across. That’s really the only knock that I have though; the insight that it provides is so worthwhile that having to chew through extra words is well worth it. You definitely don’t have to be a professional salesperson to benefit from this book. Rating: 4/5

  • Android: How can I validate EditText input?

    I need to do form validation on a series of EditTexts. I'm using OnFocusChangeListeners to trigger the validation, but this doesn't behave as desired for the final EditText. If I click on the "Done" button while typing into the final EditText then the InputMethod is disconnected, but technically focus is never lost on the EditText (and so validation never occurs). What's the best solution? Should I be monitoring when the InputMethod unbinds from each EditText rather than when focus changes? If so, how?

  • Merging MySQL row entries into a single row

    I've got two tables, one for listings and another representing a list of tags for the listings table. In the listings table the tag ids are stored in a field called tags as 1-2-3-. This has worked out very well for me (regular expressions and joins to separate and display the data), but I now need to pull the titles of those tags into a single row. See below. listings table id tags 1 1-2-3- 2 4-5-6- tags table id title 1 pig 2 dog 3 cat 4 mouse 5 elephant 6 duck And what I need to produce out of the listings table is: id tags 2 mouse, elephant, duck

  • Connection hangs after time of inactivity

    In my application, Spring manages connection pool for database access. Hibernate uses these connections for its queries. At first glance, I have no problems with the pool: it works correctly with concurrent clients and a pool with only one connection. I can execute a lot of queries, so I think that I (or Spring) don't leave open connections. My problem appears after some time of inactivity (sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes more than 2 hours). Then, when Hibernate does some search, it lasts too much. After that, it works with no problems, until another period of inactivity. IMHO, it seems like connection pool returns an invalid/closed connection, and when Hibernate realizes that, ask another connection to the pool. I don't know how can I solve this problem or things I can do for delimiting it. Any help achieving this will be appreciate. Thanks. EDIT: Well, it finally was due a firewall rule. Database detects the connection is lost, but pool (dbcp or c3p0) not. So, it tries to query the database with no success. What is still strange for me is that timeout period is very variable. Maybe the rule is specially strange or firewall doesn't work correctly. Anyway, I have no access to that machine and I can only wait for an explanation. :(

  • How to define an alias in fish shell?

    I would like to define some aliases in fish. Apparently it should be possible to define them in ~/.config/fish/functions but they don't get auto loaded when I restart the shell. Any ideas? p.s. if anyone is using or has used fish in the past I'd be interested to hear your comments as to whether it offers anything that bash does not.

  • How to store user preferences? Cookie becomes bigger..

    My application (Asp.Net MVC) has great interaction with the user interface (jQuery/js). For example, setting various searches charts, moving the gadgets on the screen and more .. I of course want to keep all data for each user. So that data will be available from any page in the Dumaine and the user will accepts his preferences. Now I keep all data in a cookie because it did not seem logical asynchronous access to the server each time the user changes something and thet happens a lot.When the user logout from the application I save the cookie to the database. The problem is the cookie becomes very large. The thought that this huge cookie is attached to each server request makes me feel that my attitude is wrong. Another problem cookies have size limit. It varies from your browser but I definitely have been close to the border - my cookie easily become 4kb Is there another solution?

  • Change the current branch to master in git

    I have a repository in git. I made a branch, then did some changes both to the master and to the branch. Then, tens of commits later, I realized the branch is in much better state than the master, so I want the branch to "become" the master and disregard the changes on master. I cannot merge it, because I don't want to keep the changes on master. What should I do? (this will very possibly be a duplicate question, since it is trivial, but I have not found it here)
