  • reading input file from server and displaying output on client side

    - by tazim
Hi, I have to read a file from server side . Obtained its contents stored it in a list and sent it to template Now, My question is how to access this list so as to display the contents of files line by line . I am using ajax and jquery to obtain the data on client side def showfiledata(request): f = open("/home/tazim/webexample/test.txt") list = f.readlines() return_dict = {'list':list} json = simplejson.dumps(list) return HttpResponse(json,mimetype="application/json")

  • Looking for a workaround for IE 6/7 "Unspecified Error" bug when accessing offsetParent; using ASP.N

    - by CodeChef
I'm using jQuery UI's draggable and droppable libraries in a simple ASP.NET proof of concept application. This page uses the ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel to do partial page updates. The page allows a user to drop an item into a trashcan div, which will invoke a postback that deletes a record from the database, then rebinds the list (and other controls) that the item was drug from. All of these elements (the draggable items and the trashcan div) are inside an ASP.NET UpdatePanel. Here is the dragging and dropping initialization script: function initDragging() { $(".person").draggable({helper:'clone'}); $("#trashcan").droppable({ accept: '.person', tolerance: 'pointer', hoverClass: 'trashcan-hover', activeClass: 'trashcan-active', drop: onTrashCanned }); } $(document).ready(function(){ initDragging(); var prm = Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance(); prm.add_endRequest(function() { initDragging(); }); }); function onTrashCanned(e,ui) { var id = $('input[id$=hidID]', ui.draggable).val(); if (id != undefined) { $('#hidTrashcanID').val(id); __doPostBack('btnTrashcan',''); } } When the page posts back, partially updating the UpdatePanel's content, I rebind the draggables and droppables. When I then grab a draggable with my cursor, I get an "htmlfile: Unspecified error." exception. I can resolve this problem in the jQuery library by replacing elem.offsetParent with calls to this function that I wrote: function IESafeOffsetParent(elem) { try { return elem.offsetParent; } catch(e) { return document.body; } } I also have to avoid calls to elem.getBoundingClientRect() as it throws the same error. For those interested, I only had to make these changes in the jQuery.fn.offset function in the Dimensions Plugin. My questions are: Although this works, are there better ways (cleaner; better performance; without having to modify the jQuery library) to solve this problem? If not, what's the best way to manage keeping my changes in sync when I update the jQuery libraries in the future? For, example can I extend the library somewhere other than just inline in the files that I download from the jQuery website. Update: @some It's not publicly accessible, but I will see if SO will let me post the relevant code into this answer. Just create an ASP.NET Web Application (name it DragAndDrop) and create these files. Don't forget to set Complex.aspx as your start page. You'll also need to download the jQuery UI drag and drop plug in as well as jQuery core Complex.aspx <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Complex.aspx.cs" Inherits="DragAndDrop.Complex" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head runat="server"> <title>Untitled Page</title> <script src="jquery-1.2.6.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery-ui-personalized-1.5.3.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function initDragging() { $(".person").draggable({helper:'clone'}); • SQL Server: query database user roles for all databases in server

    - by atricapilla
I would like to make a query for database user roles for all databases in my sql server instance. I modified a query from sp_helpuser: select u.name ,case when (r.principal_id is null) then 'public' else r.name end ,l.default_database_name ,u.default_schema_name ,u.principal_id from sys.database_principals u left join (sys.database_role_members m join sys.database_principals r on m.role_principal_id = r.principal_id) on m.member_principal_id = u.principal_id left join sys.server_principals l on u.sid = l.sid where u.type <> 'R' How can I modify this to query from all databases? What is the link between sys.databases and sys.database_principals?

  • Can't parse XML from AJAX response.

    - by Pavel
    Hi everyone. I'm having some problems with parsing the xml response from my ajax script. The XML looks like this: <IMAGE> <a href="address"> <img width="300" height="300" src="image.png class="image" alt="" title="LINKING"/> </a> </IMAGE> <LINK> www.address.com </LINK> <TITLE> This <i>is title</i> </TITLE> <EXCERPT> <p> And some excerpt </p> </EXCERPT> The code for js looks like this. function loadTab(id) { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { xmlDoc=xmlhttp.responseXML; var title=""; var image=""; x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("TITLE"); for (i=0;i<1;i++) { title=title + x[i].childNodes[0].nodeValue; } document.getElementById("ntt").innerHTML=title; x1=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("IMAGE"); for (j=0;j<1;j++) { image=image + x1[j].childNodes[0].nodeValue; } document.getElementById("nttI").innerHTML=image; } } var url = 'http://www.factmag.com/staging/page/?id='+id; xmlhttp.open("GET",url,true); xmlhttp.send(); } When I'm parsing it it pulls out the title but not the IMAGE tag contents. What I'm doing wrong? Can someone please tell me? Thanks in advance!

  • Assemble an image browser side with JavaScript or Flash?

    - by Kris Walker
Would it be possible to assemble an image on the browser by 'concatenating' other downloaded images together? The use case is this. The page will display 36 different tiles (small images). The user should be able to arrange those tiles into a 6 x 6 grid and save the resulting grid to disk as an image. The best solution would be to do it all in the browser without Flash. The next best solution would be to allow the user to create the grid in the browser with simple JavaScript drag and drop functionality and then send the coordinates to the server for image processing. The last solution would be to do it all in the browser with Flash. Is it even possible for Flash to create an image and then allow the user to save it from the browser? I am familiar with the Pixastic JavaScript library ( http://www.pixastic.com/ ), but it relies on getting image data to and from a canvas element which is not very well supported. What if I send the tile images to the browser as base64 encoded strings? Could I use JavaScript to create the 6 x 6 grid image? And if so, is there some way of allowing the user to get it onto disk without relying on the canvas element?

  • track mouse movements on 800 x 600 and show on 1024 x 768

    - by peter
i am tracking the mouse movements of a user using javascript and storing it along with the browser resolution. Then i can check the user mouse movement in my browser which is 1024 x 768 resolution. But if the user is using a browser in 800 x 600 then the mouse movements are recorded wrt 800 x 600. And when i see the mouse movements in 1024 x 768 the mouse movements are wrong. So how can i scale from 800 x 600 to 1024x 768?

  • How to create Bitmap object from a Graphics object ?

    - by vi.su.
How to create Bitmap object from a Graphics object ? I would like to read pixels from my Graphics object. for example, like, System.Drawing.BitMap.GetPixel(). I am trying to find out empty area (all white, or of any colour) inside a pdf document, to write some graphics / image. I have tried like this, but it is not working. why the following code is not working as expected ? // // System.Drawing.Bitmap // System.Drawing.Graphics // Bitmap b = new Bitmap(width, height, graphics); // // In this case, for any (i, j) values, Bitmap.GetPixel returns 0 // int rgb = b.GetPixel(i, j).ToArgb(); ( posting this question again in .net-only context, removing other library dependencies )

  • Java: How to check the random letters from a-z, out of 10 letters minimum 2 letter should be a vowel

    - by kalandar
I am writing a program to validate the following scenarios: Scenario 1: I am using the Random class from java.util. The random class will generate 10 letters from a-z and within 10 letter, minimum 2 letters must be a vowels. Scenario 2: When the player 1 and player 2 form a word from A-Z, he will score some points. There will be a score for each letter. I have already assigned the values for A-Z. At the end of the game, the system should display a scores for player 1 and player 2. How do i do it? Please help. I will post my code here. • JVM specification and Java compiler code useful for SCJP preparation ?

    - by BenoitParis
I'm preparing the SCJP exam with the almost official study book ("SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 6 Exam 310-065") I understand that Java programming is writting code that fulfills a certain high-level contract; So that Java can stay platform-independent. However, I have trouble understanding and remembering things when it comes to highly specific SCJP items (and they are numerous) The book stays high-level and does not provide examples of how one compiler would handle things. This is the same thing for runtime issues (JVM level): things are too much abstract for me. Rules often seems arbitrary and therefore, with no well defined purpose, are difficult to remember. Or maybe it's that sometimes I just don't get the underlying purpose. And here is the question: Would a JVM specification and/or some java compiler code help in preparing the SCJP? Have you had the need for such material or is the book sufficient enough? Also, please share the resources you used, apart from the book.

  • How Moles Isolation framework is implemented?

    - by Buu Nguyen
Moles is an isolation framework created by Microsoft. A cool feature of Moles is that it can "mock" static/non-virtual methods and sealed classes (which is not possible with frameworks like Moq). Below is the quick demonstration of what Moles can do: Assert.AreNotEqual(new DateTime(2012, 1, 1), DateTime. Now); // MDateTime is part of Moles; the below will "override" DateTime. Now's behavior MDateTime.NowGet = () => new DateTime(2012, 1, 1); Assert.AreEqual(new DateTime(2012, 1, 1), DateTime. Now); Seems like Moles is able to modify the CIL body of things like DateTime. Now at runtime. Since Moles isn't open-source, I'm curious to know which mechanism Moles uses in order to modify methods' CIL at runtime. Can anyone shed any light?

  • Is there a more easy way to create a WCF/OData Data Service Query Provider?

    - by routeNpingme
I have a simple little data model resembling the following: InventoryContext { IEnumerable<Computer> GetComputers() IEnumerable<Printer> GetPrinters() } Computer { public string ComputerName { get; set; } public string Location { get; set; } } Printer { public string PrinterName { get; set; } public string Location { get; set; } } The results come from a non-SQL source, so this data does not come from Entity Framework connected up to a database. Now I want to expose the data through a WCF OData service. The only way I've found to do that thus far is creating my own Data Service Query Provider, per this blog tutorial: http://blogs.msdn.com/alexj/archive/2010/01/04/creating-a-data-service-provider-part-1-intro.aspx ... which is great, but seems like a pretty involved undertaking. The code for the provider would be 4 times longer than my whole data model to generate all of the resource sets and property definitions. Is there something like a generic provider in between Entity Framework and writing your own data source from zero? Maybe some way to build an object data source or something, so that the magical WCF unicorns can pick up my data and ride off into the sunset without having to explicitly code the provider?

  • Redoundant code in exception handling

    - by Nicola Leoni
Hi, I've a recurrent problem, I don't find an elegant solution to avoid the resource cleaning code duplication: resource allocation: try { f() } catch (...) { resource cleaning code; throw; } resource cleaning code; return rc; So, I know I can do a temporary class with cleaning up destructor, but I don't really like it because it breaks the code flow and I need to give the class the reference to the all stack vars to cleanup, the same problem with a function, and I don't figure out how does not exists an elegant solution to this recurring problem.

  • django admin how to limit selectbox values

    - by SledgehammerPL

But I'd like to have a limited choice - only leaves. In mptt class there's function: is_leaf_node() -- returns True if the model instance is a leaf node (it has no children), False otherwise. But I have no idea how to connect it I'm trying to make a subclass: in admin.py: from bar.drinkstore.models import Store, Stock from django.contrib import admin admin.site.register(Store) class StockAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): def queryset(self, request): qs = super(StockAdmin, self).queryset(request).filter(ihavenoideawhatfilter) admin.site.register(Stock, StockAdmin) but I'm not sure if it's right way, and what filter set.

  • Do you prefer to code on a Laptop or a Desktop, or both ?

    - by CAD bloke
What is your primary development machine - a Desktop or a laptop? Why? Do you use both - if so, do you use source control to keep them synched? This might seem like a dumb question but I'm on the steep part of the learning curve & I'd be interested in your insights. [edit] - Using a laptop assumes hanging an Imax-sized screen off it when it is docked. Using a desktop assumes 2x Imax screens. [edit] - This is faster than Twitter! IDE is VS2008 - laptop is 17 (or 15) inch, 1920x1200

  • Asynchronous crawling F#

    - by jlezard
When crawling on webpages I need to be careful as to not make too many requests to the same domain, for example I want to put 1 s between requests. From what I understand it is the time between requests that is important. So to speed things up I want to use async workflows in F#, the idea being make your requests with 1 sec interval but avoid blocking things while waiting for request response. let getHtmlPrimitiveAsyncTimer (uri : System.Uri) (timer:int) = async{ let req = (WebRequest.Create(uri)) :?> HttpWebRequest req.UserAgent<-"Mozilla" try Thread.Sleep(timer) let! resp = (req.AsyncGetResponse()) Console.WriteLine(uri.AbsoluteUri+" got response") use stream = resp.GetResponseStream() use reader = new StreamReader(stream) let html = reader.ReadToEnd() return html with | _ as ex -> return "Bad Link" } Then I do something like: let uri1 = System.Uri "http://rue89.com" let timer = 1000 let jobs = [|for i in 1..10 -> getHtmlPrimitiveAsyncTimer uri1 timer|] jobs |> Array.mapi(fun i job -> Console.WriteLine("Starting job "+string i) Async.StartAsTask(job).Result) Is this alright ? I am very unsure about 2 things: -Does the Thread.Sleep thing work for delaying the request ? -Is using StartTask a problem ? I am a beginner (as you may have noticed) in F# (coding in general actually ), and everything envolving Threads scares me :) Thanks !!

  • Wrong intrepretation of some columns in ireport

    - by Purushotham
Hi, I got a strange problem. I am using iReport 3.7.1 tool to create some reports. The Query Editor has one query. It shows all the data types of the fields in that query exactly same as the data types shown when I execute it using SQLYOG editor. The problem is here: One field data type is mismatched. I don't know the reason. SQLYOG says it is INTEGER whereas iReport Query Editor says its a long value. BTW The value that assigned to that filed is zero. Can anyone help ? I want to zero-in on this issue.
