  • Is there an equivalent to C++'s "friend class" in Java?

    In C++ there is a concept of a "friend", which has access to a class's private variables and functions. So if you have: class Foo { friend class Bar; private: int x; } then any instance of the class Bar can modify any Foo instance's x member, despite it being private, because Bar is a friend of Foo. Now I have a situation in Java where this functionality would come in handy. There are three classes: Database, Modifier, Viewer. The Database is just a collection of variables (like a struct). Modifier should be "friends" with Database; that is, it should be able to read and write its variables directly. But Viewer should only be able to read Database's variables. How is this best implemented? Is there a good way to enforce Viewer's read-only access of Database?

    It is with great pleasure that today I can announce the very first SharePoint Saturday Columbus.  SharePoint Saturday Columbus 2010 will be happening on August 14th at The Conference Center at OCLC in Dublin, OH.  As many of the readers of my blog may be aware I’ve attended or spoken at over half a dozen SharePoint Saturdays in the past 8 months alone, but this will be my first time actually organizing one.  Myself and a group of very dedicated individuals have been hard at work the past few months getting the ball rolling and we’re happy to see it taking shape.   Pertinent Resources Website – find announcements and up to the date details at www.SharePointSaturday.org/Columbus Twitter – follow us at @SPSColumbus Email – email us at [email protected] with any questions, comments, or concerns   What can you do?     There are three main areas that we are looking for your help at this time.   • Are there any good utilities out there to create datastore / LUN diagrams for VMware ESX 3.5?

    We are working to get a large (inherited) VMware ESX 3.5 environment with multiple SANs under control. We first need to create a diagram / Excel spreadsheet / whatever that explains what VM is stored where. This is a rather time-consuming task to complete by just using the VI client to copy down everything. Is there a good script or tool out there that can do this for us? I would like to see: VM Name, LUN, Actual file-name/location of VMDK/VMX, Power State, Host Any ideas?

  • Zoneminder camera permanently idle

    I have an Ubuntu server with zoneminder installed. I only have one camera (cheap Logitech USB model) and it seems to be permanently idle. I'm also getting this error repeatedly in the logs 06/06/2010 08:26:56.563783 zmwatch[28234].INF [Restarting capture daemon for main_room, shared memory not valid] 06/06/2010 08:26:56.812964 zmwatch[28234].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 10/06/06 08:26:56, pid = 29214] 06/06/2010 08:27:06.814486 zmwatch[28234].INF [Restarting capture daemon for main_room, shared memory not valid] 06/06/2010 08:27:07.054854 zmwatch[28234].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 10/06/06 08:27:07, pid = 29219] I've already tried following the instructions in the FAQ for increasing shared memory, but that doesn't seem to work. What do I need to do to get this working?

  • Getting py2exe to work

    Hello all. I am following the the tutorial at http://www.py2exe.org/index.cgi/Tutorial to figure out how to use py2exe. I get down to step 3 where you are suppose to run the command: python setup.py py2exe I do that and then I get this error: 'python' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I have python 2.4 installed on my machine. any idea's? I am sure it is something simple.

An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) I fixed the error by doing the sorting at the end: // select all orders var orders = from o in FoodOrders where o.STATUS = 1 select o; // if customer id is specified, only select orders from specific customer if (customerID!=null) { orders = orders.Where(o => customerID.Equals(o.CUSTOMER_ID)); } // I'm forced to do the ordering here orders = orders.OrderBy(o => o.ORDER_DATE).Reverse(); But I'm wondering why is this limitation in place? What's the reason the API was designed in such a way that you can't add a where constraint after using an order by operator?

For this I'd like to define a "log" function callable as log "LEVEL" $message Where the message is a variable to which I have previously redirected the outputs of executed commands.   • word Application.AddIns.Add throws 'Word cannot open this document template'

    Hi, I have a template document with a simple macro to insert a file into a document. When i try to load this template file using Application.Addins.Add i am getting an error saying 'Word cannot open this document template'. wordApplication.AddIns.Add( %template file path%, ref trueObj ); This works fine on some machines. Also is there any way to make sure that we load the template file as a global Template always.

  • Claims-based Authentication: Are strings the essence of claims?

    I've been programming with claims-based authentication for some time now with Windows Identity Foundation. It appears to me that in Windows Identity Foundation, once a user is logged in, the claims are basically strings of information that describe the user. With the old role-based authentication, I could say that a user is or is not a member of a given group, but with claims-based authentication, I can now have strings of information that describe a user. "This user is female". This user was born on "July 6, 1975". "This user logged in using a USB key". Is it the essence of claims-based authentication,that I have strings of information about the user given to the application by the framework?

  • MS Word opens documents hosted on WebDav share read-only on Windows Vista and 7 but only if no other

    We have a WebDav server with some Word documents on it. (We are using PHP's HTTP_WebDAV_Server but get the same issue on tests with Apache mod_dav - both use digest authentication, basic auth doesn't work on Vista or later) We have a web page that opens the word documents using javascript like: Doc = new ActiveXObject("Sharepoint.OpenDocuments.3"); Doc.EditDocument(url, 'Word.Document'); which causes word to connect to the webdav server and open the document, bypassing IE and most of windows built in WebDav client. On Windows XP, this works perfectly, and (after prompting you to log in) allows you to edit the word document and save it back to the server. On Windows 7 and Windows Vista, this usually opens the document read only, but not in all cases. After quite a bit of trial and error, we found that it worked (i.e. opened read/write) if Explorer happened to be already connected to a WebDav server. Note that this works with any Webdav server, not neccesarily the one with the document that you are trying to edit. So other than telling our users to change settings on their machine, is there anything we can do in the javascript sharepoint call, or on the WebDav server that will fix this issue. Ps. We have the same problem when launching Word from an HTA file version of our system, with javascript like: wordApp = new ActiveXObject("Word.application"); wordApp = new ActiveXObject("Word.application"); wordApp.Visible = true; doc = wordApp.Documents.Open(url); Pps. Sorry if you think this question should be on Serverfault (or even SuperUser). I couldn't decide, but because we are programming the WebDav server ourself (in PHP) and I have more rep on this site than the others, I decided to post it here :-)

  • Loading an XML file with todays date in the filename... need to fallback to old file if one with tod

    So here is my question. Using javascript/jQuery I am currently loading in an XML file that has a file name such as carousel_large_2010-06-08.xml.. the way I am doing it is checked for todays date then grabbing a file that has that date in the filename... the issue is sometimes they wont be uploading a new file for a given day so it needs to fallback to a older date that exists.. Wondering how to do it?   • Batch number variable setter.

    I need help with this batch file I'm working on, Basically everytime it does a task it should plus the variable %number% by one which works fine and all and then repeat over again doing a different task until its completed. This is the code which it uses to repeat I need a way of settings basically: set svn=%svn%%number% set svnlink=%svnlink%%number% set svnfolder=%svnfolder%%number% Instead I am using: if %number%==1 ( set svn=%svn1% set svnlink=%svnlink1% set svnfolder=%svnfolder1%) if %number%==2 ( set svn=%svn2% set svnlink=%svnlink2% set svnfolder=%svnfolder2%) if %number%==3 ( set svn=%svn3% set svnlink=%svnlink3% set svnfolder=%svnfolder3%) Which i really need to shorten as this goes up to number 20+ Is this possible?     I have a smalldatetime field named myTime recording when the record was created. I need the syntax that selects records created within the last hour. thought it would be: and DATEDIFF("hh", datePart(hh, myTime), DatePart(hh, GETDATE()) < 1 where datediff 1) looks for hours; 2) looks at the hours portion of the data in myTime as starting; 3) looks at the hours portion of now for ending 3) produces an int that gets compared to '1' the results i'm getting are clearly way, way off base cuz umm...clearly...i don't know what i'm doing. help? thx

  • Python File Meta Tag reading

    Anyone know of a Python module that can pull Tag data from multiple media formats? Trying to build an app that allows for manipulation of ASF (Windows Media Player files, ie WMA, WMV, etc), ID3, including both ID3v1 and ID3v2 (MPEG files, ie MP3), MPEG Audio Bit Stream (ie ABS, MP1, MP2, MP3), MPEG Program Stream (MPEG movies, and DVD and HD DVD video discs, ie MPG, MPEG, VOB, EVO), and ISO Base Media File Format (eg QuickTime, MPEG-4 and iTunes AAC files, ie QT, MOV, MP4, M4A, M4B, M4P, M4V, etc). Don't need ALL of that but just most standard consumer formats like mov and mpeg. I can't seem to find a good module to support that or a library. Any recommendations?

    I tried to write a .htaccess file on my local pc's website, I've realized I need to set AllowOverride All instead of None searched, found the file /etc/apache2/conf.d/security in the file I found #<Directory /> #AllowOverride None #Order Deny,Allow #Deny from all #</Directory> changed it to <Directory /> AllowOverride All Order Deny,Allow Deny from all </Directory> typed service apache2 restart and... .htaccess still didn't work :I the file by the way, holds one line, deny from all.

  • Drupal, Lightbox2: how can I disable the autoloading of css and javascript on triggering ?

    is there any way to disable the tag in the lightbox modal in drupal ? I've just realized it loads again all javascripts and css files of my page, and it is quite annoying, since it is not even an iFrame.. it is modal version.. and I would like to re-use what I've already loaded in my page for it.
