  • How to determine if scrolling a UITableView was done by tapping the index?

    Hello, all ... I want to determine when the index (transparent alphabet) along the side of a UITableView is tapped. To be more specific, I have a sectioned UITableView that has an index, and said index does the right thing, but when the UITableView's -scrollViewDidScroll method is called, I want to be able to determine if said scrolling was the result of the user tapping the index, vs. dragging or swiping the table view itself. If anyone has ideas on how to do this, i'd love to hear about them :-) Regards, John

    I know this is not a straight up question, so if you need me to provide more information about the scope of it, let me know. There are a bunch of questions that address almost the same issue (they are linked here), but never the exact same one with the same kind of scope and objective - at least as far as I know. Context: I have a MP3 file with ID3 tags for artist name and song title. I have two tables Artists and Songs The ID3 tags might be slightly off (e.g. Mikaell Jacksonne) I'm using ASP.NET + C# and a MSSQL database I need to synchronize the MP3s with the database. Meaning: The user launches a script The script browses through all the MP3s The script says "Is 'Mikaell Jacksonne' 'Michael Jackson' YES/NO" The user pick and we start over Examples of what the system could find: In the database... SONGS = {"This is a great song title", "This is a song title"} ARTISTS = {"Michael Jackson"} Outputs... "This is a grt song title" did you mean "This is a great song title" ? "This is song title" did you mean "This is a song title" ? "This si a song title" did you mean "This is a song title" ? "This si song a title" did you mean "This is a song title" ? "Jackson, Michael" did you mean "Michael Jackson" ? "JacksonMichael" did you mean "Michael Jackson" ? "Michael Jacksno" did you mean "Michael Jackson" ? etc. I read some documentation from this /how-do-you-implement-a-did-you-mean and this is not exactly what I need since I don't want to check an entire dictionary. I also can't really use a web service since it's depending a lot on what I already have in my database. If possible I'd also like to avoid dealing with distances and other complicated things. I could use the google api (or something similar) to do this, meaning that the script will try spell checking and test it with the database, but I feel there could be a better solution since my database might end up being really specific with weird songs and artists, making spell checking useless. I could also try something like what has been explained on this post, using Soundex for c#. Using a regular spell checker won't work because I won't be using words but names and 'titles'. So my question is: is there a relatively simple way of doing this, and if so, what is it? Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Then the client call me back to tell me that his boss want to switch back to the ancients URLs _< So i put a new 301 redirect: http://directory.my-website.com/plumber/city/john-smith.html revert to http://plumber-directory.my-website.com/john-smith-city-1.php Because google had just few days to assimilate the new URLs, it have now the two kinds of URLs in it's own result pages. Also the ranking of the website keeps falling down every day, i suspect google to mistaking those redirects for duplicate content. Is there something i can do to avoid a total loss of rankings?

  • Explaining the difference between OData & RDF by way of analogy

    A couple of months back I wrote a blog post entitled Microsoft, OData and RDF where I gave a high level view of the OData protocol and how it compares to RDF. I talked about linked data, triples and such like which may have been somewhat useful however jargon-heavy. Earlier today Dr Michael Hausenblas (blog | twitter) offered an analogy which I think is probably more useful and with Michael's permission I'm re-posting it here:Imagine a Web (a Web of Documents, if you wish), which is not based on HTML and hyperlinks, but on MS Word documents. The documents are all available on the Internet, so you can download them and consume the content. But after you’re done with a certain document that talks about a book, how do you learn more about it? For example, reviews about the book or where you can purchase it? Maybe the original document mentions that there is some more related information on another server. So you’d need to go there and look for the related bit of information yourself. You see? That’s what the Web is great at – you just click on a hyperlink and it takes you to the document (or section) you’re interested in. All the legwork is taken care of for you through HTML, URIs and HTTP.Hm, right, but how is this related to OData? Well, OData feels a bit like the above mentioned scenario, just concerning data.   • Permission settings for apache2 web content directories with several users?

    Hi there. I've got a Debian VPS set up with a LAMP-stack. My apache2 instance runs on the user account 'www-data'. In addition to the root account and the service accounts I have several user accounts belonging to friends, family and myself that includes FTP-access. This is to allow the users to drop files to the root of their domain which is located in their home folder. I am having issues with setting the correct permissions so that Apache is able to serve the content ("403 Forbidden"). I could just do a 'chmod -R 755 *' on the entire www-directory for each domain, but from what I gather that's not a good idea. Here's an example of the structure: apache2 is run by 'www-data' User 'john' has this home folder structure /home/john/domains/somedomain.com/www /home/john/domains/sub.somedomain.com/www How can I keep things safe while still allowing users to upload content via FTP, and allow for file-uploads in lets say Wordpress?

  • Revert "Deny" permissions in Windows 7

    I made a very dumb mistake and I am hoping there is a way to fix this without having to boot in through a Linux Live CD and extracting the data. My user login to my Windows 7 system is: John John is part of the Administrator's group. I have a folder called "C:\Users\John" I tried to make this folder accessible to ONLY John (and deny from all other Administrators) by going to the Folder, Right Click Secturity tab and then selecting all the checkboxes under "Deny" while having selected the "Administrators" group. As a result, I cannot access this folder from any of the accounts: "John" and "Administrator" as both of them belong to the Administrators groupd and deny permissions out-weigh the "Allow Permissions" Is there any way I could revert this back? Thanks a million!

  • Game works on netbeans but not outside netbeans in jar file?

    I am creating a basic game of 'Pong'. I have finished the game apart from a few glitches I need to remove. The game runs perfectly in netbeans but if I create a jar file errors come up causing it to not work. I am quite new to java but I believe it is something to do with my code looking for the images but the images have not been loaded up yet. Here is the error. How can I get this to work outside of netbeans in a jar file?     I'm trying to calculate on average, how long it takes to make each item. Here is the data table: Date Item Quantity Operator 01/01/2014 Item1 3 John 01/01/2014 Item2 5 John 02/01/2014 Item1 7 Bob 02/01/2014 Item2 4 John 03/01/2014 Item1 2 Bob 07/01/2014 Item2 3 John On 01/01/2014 John made 3 of Item 1 and 5 of Item 2. If we only had the first 2 rows we can guess that it takes 0.375 days to make Item 1 and 0.625 days to make Item 2. I want to be able to calculate this on average using all the data and taking in to account the operators obviously working on different items. Thank you
