• How to detect if all the device on my machine have proper drivers?

  I have just installed the Xubuntu 10.04. But the display seems to be latency. When I try to copy a big file from usb disk to hard disk, the CPU is 100% used. So I doubt that some device drivers are missing. I can use lspci to show the PCI devices on my machine, but how could I tell whether proper drivers have been installed or not? Many thanks.

As the machine is not connected to the Internet, it will not be able to use YUM directly. How do I go about installing PHP and their dependencies, or the only way is to download the source codes and build it on my own?

  I am running cPanel/WHM on Apache server and have just installed an SSL certificate for a single domain. Domain/server is on a fixed dedicated IP address. I'm given the 'successfully installed' message when installing the SSL certificate, however when trying to visit the domain using https, the 500 Internal Server Error message appears: The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I notice that we have the Chrome backup feature which will restore my chrome extensions after we sign in via a Google account.   I understand the 32 bit Vista limit in addressing only 4Gb of memory space but I have a very specific question: I have 3Gb installed on a Vista 32 bit system with a 512Mb video card, MSI X-58 board, Intel i7, 920 CPU. System Information currently shows: Installed Memory: 3.00Gb Available Physical Memory: 1.73 Gb My understanding is that the 512Mb video card occupies memory addresses between 4.0Gb and 3.5Gb and so does not subtract from the 3.0Gb of physical memory (correct my understanding if wrong) My Question: If I install another 1Gb of RAM, will my Available Memory increase to 2.73Gb?   Running yum --security check-update returns this message: Security: kernel-3.x.x-x.63 is an installed security update Security: kernel-3.x.x-x.29 is the currently running version I already ran the yum security update on the kernel, but it looks like it didn't change the version running on the system. What needs to be done to make it run the new kernel? Are there any concerns about why it didn't change during the installation process? The yum log just shows installed for the new kernel no error messages.

It is a service account for backup and does not work using a domain account. On machines where the local account was added before likewise was installed it works fine.   I installed Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit edition on my Dell Precision M6400 with an nVidia Quadro Fx 2700M card and I see that even though the screen resolution is set to 1920 X 1200, its not the same as the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed on a second hard drive. Both OSes show that the screen resolution is set at 1920 X 1200 but Ultimate shows more pixels than Enterprise. I also reinstalled the display driver but in vain. Any ideas? TIA

  I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 (dual-boot) on my laptop.For some reasons I want some more space in my Ubuntu partition.I have installed gParted in Ubuntu.Now is it recommended to get this required extra space from Windows 7 drive (*where my linux is installed *) directly using gParted?   I'm trying to run Apache with mod_wsgi to run Python scripts. The server is running Ubuntu 12.04 with Zend Server installed, but when I enable the wsgi module Apache will not start. I get an error message of "apache2: apr_sockaddr_info_get() failed" in the error log. I installed the module using the Debian package. I can't seem to find this specific problem anywhere so maybe it's a problem with Zend Server? I'm stumped. Thanks

  So i just recently installed Ubuntu Linux 10.04 on my desktop machine alongside Windows 7, it booted just fine the first few times but after i went into my windows 7 recovery software provided by packard bell( i did this on accident BTW i exited it straight away and made no changes as far as i know) and re-booted i get this screen: error: no such partition grub rescue_ PS: i installed it on a USB stick using the ISO on the official ubuntu website.

  Does Windows 8 support upgrading from a clean install. For example, buying the upgrade key and entering it on a clear install? Or is it functionally necissary to have the version you are upgrading from installed on the computer. The former was the case with Windows 7, but I recal Windows 2000 needed the an installed copy before an update would proceed. I currently have a linux setup and I have the liceanse for Windows 7, but I don't want to have to downoad two 4 GB isos.
