They consolidated seven Web sites that are used to host individually onto iStore. In addition, they run a site, using the Oracle E-Business Suite configurator, pricing and quoting for their sales agents to do configuration work. This site can now generate a complete sales proposal using Oracle functionality.

  I'm using DELL inspiron 5420 (14R 3rd generation), and tried to install ubuntu 10.10, 11.10, 12.04, 12.04.1 but each and every time it doesn't support any of my driver such as network card, wireless driver, video driver and as well as audio and touch-pad driver. audio, video and touch-pad works with their basic functionality but don't work with their full functionality. I'm a new user of ubuntu, and willing to use it permanently. In this condition I tried some solutions from the web but didn't get out from this problem.   When deciding upon how to design a software project with my colleagues, most suggestions tend to be for using specific frameworks "because it's popular in the job market" or "that's the framework that gets recruiters on the phone," and never what I'm looking for which is, "because it's a good fit for the project as it makes the system more adaptive to future changes and makes life easier for developers." I didn't start looking at projects in this way until I started reading up on domain-driven design. I've found that the actual domain is hidden deep under the frameworks used and it's hard to learn the business processes that have been implemented by the software product. Is there a way to marry the two competing goals: getting exposure as a development team while still being able to avoid complexity? Are frameworks that compromise, or are there other solutions out there?

• IIS to parse php in a .dll files

  The .dll files ain't the dynamic link library. That's what the client side software calls for (cannot change). Its essentially a php script that should run and return specific values. However currently it simply downloads it and that results in a failure. That's what it results in on a Apache server: [Update] NewVersion=1 UpdateFileNumber=1 UpdateFile1=update1/LPServerInfo.dat ServerNumber=1 Server1=http://88.159.116.217/ here it is on IIS: 198.24.133.74:8080/update.dll?0 renaming it to php works fine for testing - it runs and returns values. I edited the MIME and set .dll to application/x-httpd-php but that doesn't seem to work in IIS. Any solutions?

I put in 30-40 hours of coding and development. I've been a huge fan of Open Source projects and I've also built by software on python. But now when it comes to selling my software to my customers, I expect money. (Am I being a Hypocrite?) Is there any OSS license under which I can make money and also make my source open? Please suggest. Or any other way to make money with my softwares? (I guess I deserve some credit. If not the code, atleast the ideas? :D )

  I'll preface my question with a disclaimer - I am not an engineer, I'm just someone who works with them full-time, in a learning and development capacity. Given that, one of the comments I get regularly from the engineers I'm tasked with developing is that they feel that they're having solutions (both technical and non-technical) for development "pushed" at them vs. anyone from my field consulting with them to determine what they really need. So my question is - if you could give your company a list of the top 3-5 things they could do - in a classroom, or elsewhere - to develop meaningful skills that would help you be a better engineer, a better employee, and one more likely to STAY with the company for the long haul, what would make the cut and why?   I've done searching for my answer and have tested a few solutions, but nothing has worked so far. I'm trying to get a URL like this: http://baseball.sports.com to rewrite to... http://pro.sports.com/baseball-index.php However, I still need to keep the domain the same (http://baseball.sports.com). The reason being I have about 5 subdomains (baseball, football, soccer, etc) that I want to run off the same code base (pro.sports.com). Everything is on the same server. Here are a few I'm proposing to myself: no absolute paths in include|require(_once)? statements no .. dirname(foo), or other means of walking up in include|require(_once)? statements put libs on the include path, not in subdirectories You can see that all of this is focusing on managing dependencies, because that is the problem I've encountered thus far.   From the Obscure Unix Admin Tip of the Day section... If you occasionally edit files as root (I never do, I always use pfexec, wink wink), then you may have noticed that the vim (Vi Improved) editor that normally does filename completion via the <Tab> key now gives you something like: :e /etc/mo^I when you try to open up /etc/motd with a little less typing So, there are at least three solutions to this: Use <Ctrl>-E instead of <Tab> Use the "-N" flag when you start Vim :set wildchar=<Tab> (Enter those 5 characters, not an actual Tab) The reason for this? It seems that when you are root, Vim sets it's "compatible" flag, which makes it behave more like its ancestor vi. In turn this makes Vim set 'wildchar' to <Ctrl>-E.   In the coming months we're going to begin a project where we take a system we've built for a client (v1) and rebuild it from scratch. Our goal with v2 is to make it modular, so that this specific client will have their own set of modules they use, then another client may use a different set of modules altogether. The trick here is that Company A might have a series of checkout and user modules that change how that system works. Company B might stick with the standard checkout procedure but customize how products are browsed. What are some good approaches to application architecture when you're building an application from scratch that you want to have a Core that's shared among all clients while still maintaining the flexability for anything to be modified specifically for a client? I've seen CodeIgniter's hooks and don't think that's a good solution as we could end up with 250 hooks and it's still not flexible enough. What are some other solutions? Ideally we won't need to draw a line in the sand.

• Server asks for username and password on boot

  I installed the Ubuntu server 12.04 easily, however, when I boot it asks for a username and password. I don't know my previous username or password from Windows XP. I am currently trying to install any version of Ubuntu I have in my arsenal to recover the PC, but all intents so far have failed. They worked on other computers but not on this one, the error I get is No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! I have tried all the solutions found on this site but to no avail. I don't have a Windows Ultimate boot disk and I'm out of CDs to burn. I can, however, make live USBs. Any Suggestions?

However all solutions I could find were developed by individuals (which can equal lack of formal or future support). In addition I fail to remember any mainstream site using them. In my particular case, no-JavaScript or IE6/odd-browser environments are not intended to be supported. Should custom scrollbars be avoided nowadays? If not, what's the best option one can choose?

  I am interested in making a game that I currently have a co-op experience, however I'm curious as to the best method of implementing this in HTML5. I have made games before using straight C sockets, and also with the Net library for SDL. What are some of my best options for doing this in a canvas-based environment? At present, all I can come up with are either AJAX/database solutions (with a high refresh rate), or somehow implementing a PHP server that would funnel the data through sockets. The overall gameplay would be a 2.5D platformer-ish type of game, so both clients would need to be continually updated with player positions, enemy positions, projectiles, environmental data, etc.

• Unity Launcher missing and Terminal shortcut stopped working

  When I restarted my Ubuntu after it being updated, I found the Unity launch bar was gone. I tried looking up several solutions online, blindly typing in the commands that others suggested, and I found after the umpteenth time rebooting after typing in another foreign command, I found I couldn't even open up the terminal with the Ctrl+Alt+t shortcut either and I have no idea how to fix this. This was the last set of instructions I remember following before terminal stopped opening. Install CCSM sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager And then run it in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+t) ccsm Then search for "Ubuntu Unity Plugin". If it's not checked, check it. If it is checked you may have another issue. Try restarting compiz: kill -9pidof compiz` This will kill it, it should start up again, if it doesn't, CTRL+ALT+F2 and then type: sudo service lightdm restart to restart the window manager. Go back to the terminal and run: unity --reset
