• Flash causing crash in embeded browser

  For my work project we recently switched from visual studio 2008 to 2010 and we use an embedded instance of firefox to render webpages. The only problem we are having is that flash seems to crash the application. It seems that instead of linking dynamically to the runtime it needs its using the new 2010 one and is having issue with new and delete. Any ideas on how to fix instead of switching back to 2008?

• Problems with MembershipUser / System.Web.ApplicationServices when upgrading to .net 4

  I have a large vb.net web project that I am trying to updgrade to .net4/VS2010. During compile I get the following error: 'System.Web.Security.MembershipUser' in assembly 'System.Web, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' has been forwarded to assembly 'System.Web.ApplicationServices'. Either a reference to 'System.Web.ApplicationServices' is missing from your project or the type 'System.Web.Security.MembershipUser' is missing from assembly 'System.Web.ApplicationServices'. I researched the issue and the error is accurate. I added a reference to System.Web.ApplicationServices but I am still having problems. The project does not seem to recognize that the reference has been added. Intellisense will not pick it up, I can not use it in an Import statement, etc ... The assembly is listed in the compile section of my web.config: <assemblies> ... <add assembly="System.Web.ApplicationServices, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/> </assemblies> Any ideas?

• Visual Studio Crashes when using Crystal Reports Group Editor

  I have a crystal report in my Visual Studio 2008 ASP.NET project, and when I choose "Group Expert" from the Crystal Reports - Report menu, Visual Studio crashes / hangs and I have to use Task Manager to close the program. This happens no matter how many times I try, and oddly enough it seems to work fine on another computer with the same project. Any help at all in the right direction would be greatly appreciated as I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. I am using Visual Studio 2008 SP1, SQL Server 2005 Developer SP2, Windows Vista Enterprise SP1, and the version of Crystal Reports that came with the Visual Studio installation.

  Hi, I have a requirement to work on a VS2003 web project. I have VS2008,vs2010,vs2003 installed in my system Other System details are Windows Xp professional version 2 service pack 3. IIS 5.1 When i am trying to create a VS 2003 web project giving the localhost as path i am getting the following error. "visual studio noted that specified web server is not running under asp .net 1.1 version.You will be unable to run asp .net web applications or services". I have used aspnet_regiis commands as well as a tool(ASPNETVersionSwitcher.exe ) to swith versions and in iis also default web site asp.net version chosen as asp .net 1.14322. Still i am getting the error. same error i get ,if i point a virtual directory in the existing 1.1 .net web application and trying to open it. I used this on my 32 bit box, and it worked first time. Stepping through it with the Visual Studio Macros IDE, it fails the first time on the DTE.ExecuteCommand("Edit.StopOutlining") line with a COM error (Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component). If I attempt to run it a second time, I can run it from the Macro Editor with no issue, but not from within Visual Studio with the macro explorer 'run macro' command.   I've recently started working on various C# projects in Visual Studio as part of a plan for a large scale system that will be used to replace our current system that's built from a cobbling-together of various programs and scripts written in C and Perl. The projects I'm now working on have reached critical mass for being committed to subversion. I was wondering what should and should not be committed to the repository for Visual Studio projects. I know that it's going to generate various files that are just build-artifacts and don't really need to be committed, and I was wondering if anybody had any advice for properly using SVN with Visual Studio. At the moment, I'm using an SVN 1.6 server with Visual Studio 2010 beta. Any advice, opinions are welcome.

  Till date I have used only VB6 Professional for developing apps. But recently I have joined a company which owns VS 6 Enterprise (or some such version) I was just exploring what is available in VS 6 Ent. and I found Visual Modeler. The tutorial provided with it is not good enough. I was wondering if there is any detailed tutorial(s) for Visual Modeler? Is Visual Modeler a cut down version of Rational Rose? I have never used such a tool for developing apps. What are the benefits of developing apps like this? The document claims that one can speed up development and modifications of VB6 & VC++ 6 applications. How true is this claim? My company also has Ration Rose 6. Which is better Rational Rose 6 or Visual Modeler that comes with VS 6 Ent.?

• Why does Visual Studio 2010 throw this error with Boost 1.42.0?

  I'm trying to recompile application, that compiles fine with warning level 4 in visual studio 2005 and visual studio 2008. Since the errors (look below) are coming from std:tr1, I'm thinking there's some conflict, but not sure how to fix. My first thought was to remove all references to boost, such as but then I get an error that it can't find format method.   I am about to create a new developer PC image for developing WPF applications using VS2010, WCF, SQL2008 and SharePoint2010. What OS should I opt for? Windows 7? Windows Server 2008 R2? I'd have thought Windows 7 to make sure that I have a similar experience during development as an end user, however I can't install SharePoint on a client OS and so thought about Windows Server 2008 R2 to help with the SharePoint development process.   I've worked with Visual Studio 2008 and editing XAML was really painful because the designer reloaded very slowly. Now I have installed Visual Studio 2010 and it seems to me that the XAML editor + Designer haven't changed much. For example in order to force designer to change a color in my control I have to close the xaml file and open it again. Is it just my problem? • Can't install Visual Studio 2010 SP1 from an .ISO file I downloaded. Error inside

  This is the error: [Window Title] C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\Things\Setup.exe [Content] The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. [OK] I'm running Windows 7 (64bit) Ultimate and have installed this service pack before (2 days ago) on another machine with similar specs and the same exact OS software. I've tried mounting the .ISO file to a virtual drive and installing from there and I get that error. I've tried mounting the .ISO and copy pasting the files to a local folder on my drive and then running the setup.exe application, and I get that error. I don't know how to proceed but can provide any additional information you require from me. What can I do to fix this? Edit If I right click Setup.exe and Run As Administrator, I get the following error: [Window Title] C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\Things\Setup.exe [Content] Windows cannot find 'C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\Things\Setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. [OK] I've already tried re downloading the ISO from the site, but a quick check of the bytes of the file assures me that the ISO on my drive is 100% correctly downloaded. I get the same amount of bytes in size from the downloading ISO (as Opera reports).

  I have a problem. After SP1 update, passing some time, VS 2012 becomes very-very slow when typing text. Solution size is not big, PC is quite powerful, it has 16GB of RAM, SSD drive, and i7-2600. The description I found of how to do this on the Microsoft site (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/wx0123s5.aspx) don't seem to be accurate. This should be pretty straight forward shouldn't it? It seems that a friend of mine that does C# development says it is easy in his environment. Are the VS environments different between C# and VB?

  Odd title, wasn't sure how to word it. Basically, I have two separate fonts I want to be on the same line, for resume purposes. My name is in a large font at the top, and I want my email and website address right-aligned directly beside it, one on top of the other. However, I want the email and website to combine to the same height as my name. Is this even possible with Word? Surely it is. Here is an awesome graphic of what I'm hoping for.
