  • Is there an equivalent for the Zip function in Clojure Core or Contrib?

    - by John Kane
    In Clojure, I want to combine two lists to give a list of pairs, > (zip '(1 2 3) '(4 5 6)) ((1 4) (2 5) (3 6)) In Haskell or Ruby the function is called zip. Implementing it is not difficult, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a function in Core or Contrib. There is a zip namespace in Core, but it is described as providing access to the Zipper functional technique, which does not appear to be what I am after. Is there an equivalent function for combining 2 or more lists, in this way, in Core? If there is not, is it because there is an idiomatic approach that renders the function unneeded?

  • What is my problem with ASP.NET pubslishing?

    - by Shankarooni
    I am done testing my site and I want to upload it to a site like this http://www.university.edu/mydepartment/myname the admin told me the server runs on .NET 3.5. So i used Linq ... now i tried to upload the site by two ways: when i just copy everything (with modification of web.config database settings) i get an error: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'DataClassesDataContext' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3082; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3082 Note here it says version 2.0 did he just lie to me? or its my configuration mistake? anyway, i added the reference, nothing changes. I tried also publishing (Build, publish) with option to keep the pre-comiled site updatable, and I get one line saying: this is a makefile and should be deleted! what is going on?

  • MVC 2 Beta DefaultControllerFactory with Areas

    - by stoto
    Why default factory WON'T return full name of the controllers (with namespaces)? I'm using Service Locator and autofac. using System.Web.Mvc; using Microsoft.Practices.ServiceLocation; namespace Application.Core.MVC { public override IController CreateController(System.Web.Routing.RequestContext requestContext, string **controllerName**) { return ServiceLocator.Current.GetInstance<IController>(controllerName); } } I had two home controllers (one under area Blog) http://localhost/Home http://localhost/Blog/Home controllerName return only "Home" without full qualified name for both in above code. This creates a problem when I try to regiser controllers' names for dependency injection. Here is how I register controllers right now according to this situation. Even this brings up the pages without exception. But When I access http://localhost/Home, both controllers invoked regardlessly. foreach (var tp in currentAssemblyControllersTypes) builder.Register(tp).FactoryScoped().Named(tp.Name.Replace("Controller", "")); Anyone can help?Thanks.

  • C# public partial struct methods for more System.Windows.Media.Color

    - by dr d b karron
    How can I put in additional methods for manipulating color ? Best would be to overload the struct System.Windows.Media.Color. It is NOT a class (in c#). Now i'm tinkering with putting (in the same file for testing or must i put it in a different file) an namespace (Silverlight Application36 or System.Windows.Media ?) and a partial struct Color Normalize (double R, ...). I should see MyColor.Normalize() start being recognized by intellisense ? I'm not. I'm looking to put in a suite of overloaded color manipulations using floating and double numbers instead of unsigned byte integers. Any hints while I wack at it ? Cheers! dr.K

  • Need some suggestions on my softwares architecture. [Code review]

    - by Sergio Tapia
    I'm making an open source C# library for other developers to use. My key concern is ease of use. This means using intuitive names, intuitive method usage and such. This is the first time I've done something with other people in mind, so I'm really concerned about the quality of the architecture. Plus, I wouldn't mind learning a thing or two. :) I have three classes: Downloader, Parser and Movie I was thinking that it would be best to only expose the Movie class of my library and have Downloader and Parser remain hidden from invocation. Ultimately, I see my library being used like this. using FreeIMDB; public void Test() { var MyMovie = Movie.FindMovie("The Matrix"); //Now MyMovie would have all it's fields set and ready for the big show. } Can you review how I'm planning this, and point out any wrong judgement calls I've made and where I could improve. Remember, my main concern is ease of use. Movie.cs using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Drawing; namespace FreeIMDB { public class Movie { public Image Poster { get; set; } public string Title { get; set; } public DateTime ReleaseDate { get; set; } public string Rating { get; set; } public string Director { get; set; } public List<string> Writers { get; set; } public List<string> Genres { get; set; } public string Tagline { get; set; } public string Plot { get; set; } public List<string> Cast { get; set; } public string Runtime { get; set; } public string Country { get; set; } public string Language { get; set; } public Movie FindMovie(string Title) { Movie film = new Movie(); Parser parser = Parser.FromMovieTitle(Title); film.Poster = parser.Poster(); film.Title = parser.Title(); film.ReleaseDate = parser.ReleaseDate(); //And so an so forth. } public Movie FindKnownMovie(string ID) { Movie film = new Movie(); Parser parser = Parser.FromMovieID(ID); film.Poster = parser.Poster(); film.Title = parser.Title(); film.ReleaseDate = parser.ReleaseDate(); //And so an so forth. } } } Parser.cs using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using HtmlAgilityPack; namespace FreeIMDB { /// <summary> /// Provides a simple, and intuitive way for searching for movies and actors on IMDB. /// </summary> class Parser { private Downloader downloader = new Downloader(); private HtmlDocument Page; #region "Page Loader Events" private Parser() { } public static Parser FromMovieTitle(string MovieTitle) { var newParser = new Parser(); newParser.Page = newParser.downloader.FindMovie(MovieTitle); return newParser; } public static Parser FromActorName(string ActorName) { var newParser = new Parser(); newParser.Page = newParser.downloader.FindActor(ActorName); return newParser; } public static Parser FromMovieID(string MovieID) { var newParser = new Parser(); newParser.Page = newParser.downloader.FindKnownMovie(MovieID); return newParser; } public static Parser FromActorID(string ActorID) { var newParser = new Parser(); newParser.Page = newParser.downloader.FindKnownActor(ActorID); return newParser; } #endregion #region "Page Parsing Methods" public string Poster() { //Logic to scrape the Poster URL from the Page element of this. return null; } public string Title() { return null; } public DateTime ReleaseDate() { return null; } #endregion } } ----------------------------------------------- Do you guys think I'm heading towards a good path, or am I setting myself up for a world of hurt later on? My original thought was to separate the downloading, the parsing and the actual populating to easily have an extensible library. Imagine if one day the website changed its HTML, I would then only have to modifiy the parsing class without touching the Downloader.cs or Movie.cs class. Thanks for reading and for helping!

  • Help needed to convert code from C# to Python.

    - by Ali
    Can you please convert this code from C# to Python to be run on IronPython? I don’t have any experience with Python. using System; using Baz; namespace ConsoleApplication { class Program { static void Main() { Portal foo = new Portal("Foo"); Agent bar = new Agent("Bar"); foo.Connect("127.0.0.1", 1234); foo.Add(bar); bar.Ready += new Agent.ReadyHandler(bar_Ready); } static void bar_Ready(object sender, string msg) { Console.WriteLine(msg.body); } } }

  • Visual Studio Unit Testing of Windows Forms

    - by GWLlosa
    We're working on a project here in Visual Studio 2008. We're using the built-in testing suite provided with it (the Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting namespace). It turns out, that much to our chagrin, a great deal of complexity (and therefore errors) have wound up coded into our UI layer. While our unit tests do a decent job of covering our business layer, our UI layer is a constant source of irritation. We'd ideally like to unit-test that, as well. Does anyone know of a good "Microsoft-compatible" way of doing that in visual studio? Will it introduce some sort of conflict to 'mix' unit testing frameworks like nUnitForms with the Microsoft stuff? Are there any obvious bear traps I should be aware of with unit-testing forms?

  • How to accomplish covariant return types when returning a shared_ptr?

    - by Kyle
    using namespace boost; class A {}; class B : public A {}; class X { virtual shared_ptr<A> foo(); }; class Y : public X { virtual shared_ptr<B> foo(); }; The return types aren't covariant (nor are they, therefore, legal), but they would be if I was using raw pointers instead. What's the commonly accepted idiom to work around this, if there is one?

  • best way to add route under resource in Laravel 4

    I would like know if there is a better way to add additional route aside from the default of resource in Laravel 4. I have this code below which is no problem with regard to the functionality, it's just that it seems to be long: <?php Route::group(array('before' => 'auth'), function() { # API Route::group(array('prefix' => 'api'), function() { Route::resource('projects', 'ProjectsController'); Route::resource('projects.groups', 'GroupsController'); Route::post('/projects/{projects}/groups/{groups}/reorder', 'GroupsController@reorder'); }); }); If in Rails Rails.application.routes.draw do # API namespace :api, defaults: { format: 'json' } do scope module: :v1 do resources :projects do resources :groups do member do post :reorder end end end end end end

  • WCF REST Does Not Contain All of the Relative File Path

    - by Brandon
    I have a RESTful WCF 3.5 endpoint as such: System.Security.User.svc This is supposed to represent the namespace of the User class and is desired behavior by our client. I have another endpoint I created for testing called: Echo.svc I am writing an overridden IHttpModule and in my module, I follow what almost everyone does by doing: string path = HttpContext.Current.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath; If I make a call to: http://localhost/services/Echo/test My path variable has a value of '~/echo/test' However, when I make a call to: http://localhost/services/System.Security.User/test My path variable has a value of '~/system.security.user' In my 2nd situation, it is stripping off the '/test' on the end of any endpoint that contains multiple periods. This is undesired behavior and the only solution I have found to fixing this is some ugly string manipulation using the property which does contain the complete URL path: string rawPath = HttpContext.Current.Request.RawUrl; This returns '/services/system.security.user/test'. Does anyone know why my first situation does not return the rest of the URL path for endpoints that contain multiple periods in the name?

  • Using image resource in XAML markup?

    - by Jeff Dahmer
    I'm trying to add little icons to my tabs in WPF but having trouble with how to set up the binding. <TabItem.Header> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Image Source="{Binding Source=prop:Resources.eye}" /> <Label VerticalAlignment="Center">Header</Label> </StackPanel> </TabItem.Header> The xmlns:prop is set up for the local project's Properties, I am pulling other values from it elsewhere so I know that the namespace works. The markup above compiles fine BUT I don't see the eye image in the tab. Also, is there any way to set this up into a template? I'm fairly new to XAML/WPF and each tab will have its own image...

  • Binding Properties.Settings to Textbox fails

    - by user268098
    I would like to define a key & value in Settings.settings and bind the value by declaration in the XAML (not in the code behind by command). Here's what I've been trying in vain: Create a WPF project "Exp1" with Visual Studio Express 2010. Set one key named "TextFromSettings" to the value "Some Text from Setting". Add the attribute xmlns:p="clr-namespace:Exp1.Properties;assembly=Exp1" to the tag. Add Text="{Binding Path=TextFromSettings, Mode=TwoWay, Source={x:Static p:Settings.Default}}" to the tag Now, the preview window shows the text, however, the compiler fails: "Error 1 Cannot find the type 'Settings'. Note that type names are case sensitive." Where am I going wrong?

  • Assigning a variable of a struct that contains an instance of a class to another variable

    - by xport
    In my understanding, assigning a variable of a struct to another variable of the same type will make a copy. But this rule seems broken as shown on the following figure. Could you explain why this happened? using System; namespace ReferenceInValue { class Inner { public int data; public Inner(int data) { this.data = data; } } struct Outer { public Inner inner; public Outer(int data) { this.inner = new Inner(data); } } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Outer p1 = new Outer(1); Outer p2 = p1; Console.WriteLine("p1:{0}, p2:{1}", p1.inner.data, p2.inner.data); p1.inner.data = 2; Console.WriteLine("p1:{0}, p2:{1}", p1.inner.data, p2.inner.data); p2.inner.data = 3; Console.WriteLine("p1:{0}, p2:{1}", p1.inner.data, p2.inner.data); Console.ReadKey(); } } }

  • buffer overflow with boost::program_options

    - by f4
    Hello, I have a problem using boost:program_options this simple program, copy-pasted from boosts' documentation : #include <boost/program_options.hpp> int main( int argc, char** argv ) { namespace po = boost::program_options; po::options_description desc("Allowed options"); desc.add_options() ("help", "produce help message") ("compression", po::value<int>(), "set compression level") ; return 0; } fails with a buffer overflow. I have activated the "buffer security switch", and when I run it I get an "unknown exception (0xc0000409)" when I step over the line desc.add_options()... I use Visual Studio 2005 and boost 1.43.0. By the way it does run if I deactivate the switch but I don't feel comfortable doing so... unless it's possible to deactivate it locally. So do you have a solution to this problem? EDIT I found the problem I was linking against libboost_program_options-vc80-mt.lib which wasn't the good library.

  • Ref to map vs. map to refs vs. multiple refs

    - by mikera
    I'm working on a GUI application in Swing+Clojure that requires various mutable pieces of data (e.g. scroll position, user data, filename, selected tool options etc.). I can see at least three different ways of handling this set of data: Create a ref to a map of all the data: (def data (ref { :filename "filename.xml" :scroll [0 0] })) Create a map of refs to the individual data elements: (def datamap { :filename (ref "filename.xml") :scroll (ref [0 0]) })) Create a separate ref for each in the namespace: (def scroll (ref [0 0])) (def filename (ref "filename.xml")) Note: This data will be accessed concurrently, e.g. by background processing threads or the Swing event handling thread. However there probably isn't a need for consistent transactional updates of multiple elements. What would be your recommended approach and why?

  • C# Dynamic Query Without A Database Model

    - by hitopp
    I have been searching the web for a solution to dynamic queries. I have found many different solutions (e.g. Linq to Sql, Dynamic Linq Expressions, Dynamic Query), but all of these solutions involve some sort of previous knowledge of the database (like a model in code). Maybe what I am asking is way off the deep end, but is there any possible way to dynamically query a database without a model? For example, a database has a Customers table with the following columns: CustomerID Name FavoriteColor I want to create a query as SELECT Name FROM Customers WHERE @0 = @1, where the two placeholders are populated dynamically. The resulting data does not tie to a model class and I would prefer to use some sort of framework to build the queries, not simple string concatenation. The System.Linq.Dynamic namespace came really close to fulfilling this request, but it uses a database model. I realize this is crazy, but I was just curious.

  • xml to xsd to c# class - C# 3.0, .net 3.5

    - by uno
    Following this articlelink text one of the comments from 'zanoni' said he did it this way Using .NET 3.5: [XmlRoot] public class EmailConfiguration { [XmlElement] public string DataBoxID { get; set; } [XmlElement] public DefaultSendToAddressCollectionClass DefaultSendToAddressCollection { get; set; } } public class DefaultSendToAddressCollectionClass { [XmlElement] public string[] EmailAddress { get; set; } } How would I get my class to be as what he described? I ran the xsd tool and it is in the fashion as what shane posted in the above link [System.CodeDom.Compiler.GeneratedCodeAttribute("xsd", "2.0.50727.3038")] [System.SerializableAttribute()] [System.Diagnostics.DebuggerStepThroughAttribute()] [System.ComponentModel.DesignerCategoryAttribute("code")] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlTypeAttribute(AnonymousType=true)] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRootAttribute(Namespace="", IsNullable=false)] public partial class EmailConfiguration : object, System.ComponentModel.INotifyPropertyChanged { private string dataBoxIDField; private EmailConfigurationDefaultSendToAddressCollection[] defaultSendToAddressCollectionField; /// <remarks/> [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute(Form=System.Xml.Schema.XmlSchemaForm.Unqualified)] public string DataBoxID { get { return this.dataBoxIDField; } set { this.dataBoxIDField = value; this.RaisePropertyChanged("DataBoxID"); } }

  • Moving from WCF RIA RC to Release: best practices?

    - by Duncan Bayne
    I have an existing WCF RIA project built on the Release Candidate; I'm now moving to the Release version & have discovered many changes. David Scruggs made the following comment on his (MSDN) blog: "If you’ve written anything in SIlverlight 4 RIA Services, you’ll need to rewrite it. There has been a lot of refactoring and namespace moves." Having made a brief attempt to compile the old solution with the new RIA framework I'm inclined to agree. My current plan is to: remove the Silverlight Business Application projects from the Solution rebuild the EF4 items from the database create a new Silverlight Business Application project re-add the files (XAML, CS) from the old Silverlight Business Application project Does this sound like a reasonable approach? I think it's cleaner than trying to manually alter the existing project.

  • What is the .NET attribuet to not compile a method is release mode

    - by Russ
    I know that if I have a block of code I don't want compiled when in release mode I can wrap that code block in: #if DEBUG while(true) { Console.WriteLine("StackOverflow rules"); } #endif This will keep this code block from compiling in any mode other than DEBUG. I know there is an attribute that can be placed on an entire method that will do that same, but for the life of me I can't remember what that attribute is. I believe that it’s down the System.Diagnostics namespace, but I'm not really sure. BTW: I'm using .NET 4, but I know this attribute existed in .NET 2 because I have used in in old projects. Thanks

  • Referenced Assembly won't load

    - by Pavel
    I've got a visual studio 2010 project which publishes an assembly called myAssembly.ddl. I then want to reference myAssembly.dll from an existing vs 2008 project. If I try to load the reference it comes up with an yellow exclamation mark next to it, suggesting that the assembly wasn't loaded. However, I'm not getting any error messages during that process. Obviously, if i try to import the namespace in my code it doesn't compile. Converting myAssembly.dll to a .net version 3.5 doesn help. Nor does copying the assembly to a different directory and referencing it from there. Any ideas?

  • How do I download a file from an FTP server using FTP over SSL using .NET?

    - by atconway
    My post title almost states it all: How do I download a file from an FTP server using FTP over SSL using .NET? I have read a bit and there are several 3rd party components to purchase that wrap up this functionality. The deal is, this is a very specefic need and is not going to grow much, so if downloading a file from an FTP server using FTP over SSL can be done using the .NET Framework (i.e. System.Net namespace or something), then that would be best. I don't need a ton of functionality, but if for some reason coding against a secure FTP server is a nightmare or not doable through the .NET Framework BCL that would be nice to know, as a 3rd party .dll might be best. Thank you!
