• Wmode transparent and symbols issue with foreign keyboard

  Hello, I have the known issue with wmode transparent and input textfield in my page. I know that the question is often asked but I have a special situation with that case. I need to embed my swf with wmode=transparent but in my swf I have an input textfield and the bug with "@" or "." symbols exists. I have a french keyboard and I decided to overcome this problem with a string replacement with the FirefoxWmodeFix class from Manmaru (see the link below). http://www.manmaru.fr/mlab/?p=95 It works for my keyboard but I need that "trick" with EN/DE/IT keyboard. Could anyone help me with the right combination of keys on different keyboard and different OS system to display "@" and "." symbols. I don't have any foreign Windows system to get the key code for each combination. Or if anyone has another solution, I will be pleased to hear that one. Thanks in advance for any help.

• How can I avoid properties being reset at design-time in tightly bound user controls?

  I have UserControl 'A' with a label, and this property: /// <summary> /// Gets or Sets the text of the control /// </summary> [ Browsable(true), EditorBrowsable(EditorBrowsableState.Always), Category("Appearance") ] public override string Text { get { return uxLabel.Text; } set { uxLabel.Text = value; } } I then have UserControl 'B' which has UserControl 'A' on it, and I set the Text Property to "My Example Label" in the designer. Then, I have my MainForm, which has UserControl 'B' on it. Each time I do a build or run, the Text property of UserControl 'A' is reset to its default value. I suppose this is because since I am doing a rebuild, it rebuilds both UserControl 'A' and 'B', thus causing the problem. How can I go about a better approach to design pattern to avoid this type of behavior when working with tightly bound controls and forms in a application?

• Why won't Silverlight handle the conversion of my custom float property

  In a Silverlight 4 project I have a class that extends Canvas: public class AppendageCanvas : Canvas { public float Friction { get; set; } public float Restitution { get; set; } public float Density { get; set; } } I use this canvas in Blend by dragging it onto another control and setting the custom properties: When I run the app, I get the following error when InitializeComponent is called on the control containing my custom canvas: I'm not sure why Silverlight isn't able to convert this property from it's string representation in Xaml, to the float that it is. Anyone have any ideas?

• Pygame program that can get keyboard input with caps

  I have a Pygame program that needs text input. The way it does this is to get keyboard input and when a key is pressed it renders that key so it is added to the screen. Essentially it acts like a text field. The problem is, when you hold shift it doesn't do anything. I relize this is because the program ignores shift input and instead writes the text if it's number is under 128. I have thought of setting a variable when shift is pressed then capitalizing if it was true, but string capitalization only woks on letters, not things like numbers or semicolons. Is there maybe a number I can add to the ascii number typed to modify it if shift is pressed, or something else?

  Hi, i want do the following: In Word 2007 place the Cursor on a field (or mark that field) and call a macro wich edit the field function of that field. (add some string). I´m even grateful for some tipps what term to google. I used the macro recorder and got following: WordBasic.FormatField Field:="CITATION Gro05 \p 9 \l 1031" Thats obvious creats a new field but where to go from here? • Asp.Net MVC2 TekPub Starter Site methodology question

  Ok I've just ran into this and I was only supposed to be checking my emails however I've ended up watching this (and not far off subscribing to TekPub). http://tekpub.com/production/starter Now these app is a great starting point, but it raises one issue for me and the development process I've been shown to follow (rightly or wrongly). There is no conversion from the LinqToSql object when passing data to the view. Are there any negitives to this? The main one I can see is with validation, does this cause issues when using MVC's built in validation as this is somthing we use extensivly. Because we are using the built in objects generated by LinqToSql how would one go about adding validation, like [Required(ErrorMessage="Name is Required")] public string Name {get;set;} Interested to understand the benifits of this methodology and any negitives that, should we take it on, experiance through the development process.

• alias_attribute and creating and method with the original attribute name causes a loop

  Im trying to dynamically create a method chain in one attribute in my model. By now I have this function: def create_filtered_attribute(attribute_name) alias_attribute "#{attribute_name}_without_filter", attribute_name define_method "#{attribute_name}" do filter_words(self.send("#{attribute_name}_without_filter")) end end so I receive a string with the attribute name, alias it for '*_without_filter*' (alias_method or alias_method_chain fails here, because the attribute isnt there when the class is created), and I create a new method with the attribute name, where I filter its contents. But somehow, when I call *"#{attribute_name}_without_filter"* it calls my new method (i think because the alias_attribute some how), and the program goes into a stack loop. Can someone please enlighten me on this.

The server is Windows 2003 Enterprise, the service is a .NET component wraped as COM+ (I know that I don´t have to do it that way, but the purpose is to itegrate a legacy App with a .NET component) The purpose of this is just to test that the .NET COM+ Component works. • Using jquery to make a POST, how to properly supply 'data' parameter?

  Hi, I'd like to make an ajax call as a POST, it's going to go to my servlet. I want to send parameterized data, like the following: var mydata = 'param0=some_text&param1=some_more_text'; I supply this as the 'data' parameter of my jquery ajax() call. So this should be inserted in the body of the POST, right? (I mean, not appended to my 'mysite/save' url?): $.ajax({ url: 'mysite/save', type: 'POST', data: mydata }); it appears to work correctly. In my servlet, I am just dumping all received parameters, and I see them all come through nicely: private void printParams(HttpServletRequest req) { Enumeration paramNames = req.getParameterNames(); while (paramNames.hasMoreElements()) { // print each param key/val here. } } also, I should url encode my data string manually before use, right? • Trying to execute netdom.exe from a ruby script or IRB does nothing

  I'm trying to write a script that will rename a computer and join it to a domain, and was planning to call on netdom.exe to do the dirty work. However, trying to run this utility in the script (same results in irb) does absolutely nothing. No output, no execution. I tried with backticks and with the system() method. System() returns false for everything but system("netdom") (which returns true). Backticks never return anything but an empty string. I have verified that netdom runs and works in the environment the script will be running in, and I'm calling other command-line utilities earlier in the script that work (w32tm, getmac, ping). Here's the exact line that gets executed: `netdom renamecomputer %COMPUTERNAME% /NewName:#{newname} /force` FYI, This is windows 7 x64

Q: Is there a t-sql query that will return a list of active records from the "ProductAllowed" table if any of three IsSaleType fileds is/are switched on for a product. Based on the sample data the ProductAllowed records should return following records. • Unable to get the DspStatus Field in the Task document properties.

  Hi, I am using Interop.Domino.dll API to read the NSF file and able to read the properties of the Task Document. When i view the Task Document properties in the Lotus Notes, i am able to view the Status Field, Importance Field and few others, but when i programatically dump all the Field Names and their values i am unable to get few of them as mentioned above. So, how to get all the Field Names and their values as i iterate through all the document properties. Is this the problem of IBM Lotus Notes Application or the Domino API ?   I'm having some trouble understanding how to use prepared statements, when you need to match one value against several columns at once. In other words what instead of doing this: $stmt = $dbh-prepare("SELECT * FROM REGISTRY where name = ?"); $stmt-bindParam(':name', $name); I wanted to do this: $stmt = $dbh-prepare("SELECT * FROM REGISTRY where firstname = ? or lastname = ?"); with both '?' representing the same string.
