• Tablet design guide, Endeca patterns now available

• Realtek RTL8111/8168B wired network doesn't work anymore

  This sounds like it's a common problem upgrading 11.04, but I am having trouble finding a common solution, and one that will work for me. I just applied updates via the update manager and now my wired network connection is down. I know Ubuntu network settings is the issue, because I have a dual-boot with Win 7 and my network/internet is fine on Win 7. I don't know too much about networking, so what can I do to trouble shoot this issue? I can choose an older grub version, 2.6.38-8 instead of 2.6.38-11 and this does not resolve the issue. • Connect ps/2->usb keyboard to linux?

  I have a lovely ancient ergonomic keyboard (no name SK - 6000) connected via a DIN-ps/2 adapter to a ps/2-usb adapter to my docking station. After Grub it stops working. It takes either suspending and waking up or replugging it while Linux is running to get it to work. No extra kernel modules get loaded for this. When it works and I restart without power off, it will work immediately.   hello fellow ubuntu users! I have a really big problem with my Eclipse Indigo running on Kubuntu 12.04 32bit, Dell Vostro 3500, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M480 @ 2.67 (as cat /proc/cpuinfo said).   I am trying to get my PCI Wireless Atheros 922 card to work. It is disabled in Unity: both the network utility and the desktop (see screenshot http://www.amisdurailhalanzy.be/Screenshot%20from%202012-10-25%2013:19:54.png) I tried many different advises on many different forums. Installed 12.10 instead of 12.04, enabled all interfaces... etc. I have read about the aht9 driver... The terminal shows no hw or sw lock for the Atheros card, nevertheless, it is still disabled. Nothing worked so far, the card is still disabled. Any help is much appreciated. • Cannot find protocol declaration in Xcode

  Hi.. I've experienced something today while I'm building my app. I've added a protocol in my object and assign delegate object on it. I added the protocol on the object that will implement the protocol's method. I've added it in this way as usual @interface MyObject : UIViewController <NameOfDelegate> But the Xcode says that my the protocol declaration cannot be found. I've check my code but I've declared this protocol. I've try to assign MyObject as delegate of other Object. I've edit my code like this @interface MyObject : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,NameOfDelegate> but Xcode say again that it cannot found declaration of protocol of NameOfDelegate. I've tried to delete the NameOfDelegate on my code and add assign MyObject as delegate of other object and it goes like this. @interface MyObject : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,UITabBarDelegate> No errors have been found. Then I've tried again to add again my NameOfDelegate in the code @interface MyObject : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,UITabBarDelegate,NameOfDelegate> At that time Xcode did not find any error on my code. So I tried again to remove the UITableViewDelegate and UITabBarDelegate on my code. @interface MyObject : UIViewController <NameOfDelegate> At that time No error had found but that was the same code I've write before.   We have been using HAProxy along with heartbeat from the Linux-HA project. We are using two linux instances to provide a failover. Each server has with their own public IP and a single IP which is shared between the two using a virtual interface (eth1:1) at IP: 69.59.196.211 The virtual interface (eth1:1) IP 69.59.196.211 is configured as the gateway for the windows servers behind them and we use ip_forwarding to route traffic. We are experiencing an occasional network outage on one of our windows servers behind our linux gateways. HAProxy will detect the server is offline which we can verify by remoting to the failed server and attempting to ping the gateway: Pinging 69.59.196.211 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 69.59.196.220: Destination host unreachable. Swapping network cards and switches I noticed the link light on the port of the switch for the failed windows server was running at 100Mb instead of 1Gb on the failed interface. I moved the cable to several other open ports and the link indicated 100Mb for each port that I tried. I also swapped the cable with the same result. I tried changing the properties of the network card in windows and the server locked up and required a hard reset after clicking apply. This windows server has two physical network interfaces so I have swapped the cables and network settings on the two interfaces to see if the problem follows the interface. If the public interface goes down again we will know that it is not an issue with the network card. (We also tried another switch we have on hand, no change) Changing network hardware driver versions We've had the same problem with the latest Broadcom driver, as well as the built-in driver that ships in Windows Server 2008 R2. Replacing network cables As a last ditch effort we remembered another change that occurred was the replacement of all of the patch cords between our servers / switch. We had purchased two sets, one green of lengths 1ft - 3ft for the private interfaces and another set of red cables for the public interfaces. We swapped out all of the public interface patch cables with a different brand and ran our servers without issue for a full week ... aaaaaand then the problem recurred. Disable checksum offload, remove TProxy We also tried disabling TCP/IP checksum offload in the driver, no change. We're now pulling out TProxy and moving to a more traditional x-forwarded-for network arrangement without any fancy IP address rewriting. We'll see if that helps.

• any real MVC library in PHP (for GUI apps)

  I'm wondering if there are any abstraction frameworks for one of the PHP gui libraries. We have PHP-GTK, a PHP/Tk interface, and seemingly also PHP-QT. (Not tried any.) I know that writing against the raw Gtk+ interface in Python is just bearable, and it therefore seems not very enticing for PHP. I assume it's the same for Qt, and Tk is pretty low-level too. So I'm looking for something that provides a nicer object structure atop any of the three. Primarily TreeViews are always a chore and php-gtk callbacks are weird in PHP, so I'd like a simplification for that. If it eases adding the GUI/View atop my business logic without much control code, that might already help. And so since GUI apps are an area where MVC or MVP would actually make sense, I'd like to know if any library for that exists. Btw, recently rediscovered PHP interface preprocessor, but that's rather low-level and just provides a simple widget/interface abstraction for Gtk/ncurses/pdf/xhtml output.

  I have a page which contains several divs (each with a unique ID and the same class, 'parent'). Underneath each "parent" div, is a div with class "child" and unique ID name -child. This DIV is upon page load empty. • Android SDK fails to install

  When I try to install the android SDK it fails to install. My OS is Windows XP I just downloaded and installed Java JDK 1.6 Java -version from the command line returns: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask java version "1.6.0_17" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_17-b04) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.3-b01, mixed mode, sharing) My environment vars have: JAVA_HOME=c:\progra~1\java\jdk1.6.0_11 I downloaded android-sdk-r04-windows.zip I unziped it in V:\AndroidInstall\ When I go to the V:\androindinstall\android-sdk-windows and type "SDK Install.exe" nothing happens... If I go this from graph When I do this from a graphical file viewer I get a quick flash that looks like a command line window and nothing.... When I try to run android list targets from the tool directory I get: Error: Error parsing the sdk. Error: V:\androindinstall\android-sdk-windows\platforms is missing. Error: Unable to parse SDK content. So the basic install setup is not happening. Additional clues: I have a G1 and Android 1.0 was running on this machine. (Almost a year ago) I've updated my G1 to 1.6 so I thought I'd update my SDK before starting new development. When I tried to upgrade it tried and then died as the "directory was in use" So I cleaned out all the android directories, rebooted and redownloaded everythign from scratch. Now it won't run at all. I've clearly got something in an unhappy state, but I've cleaned up all the directories and no remanants seem to be running I've rebooted.... I've missed somethign I just can't figure out what. Paul

• recent cvs cygwin newline windows problems. How to solve?

  Hi all, One of our projects still uses CVS. Recently (sometime in the past year) the Cygwin cvs client (currently using 1.12.13) has given me problems when I update. I suspect the problem stems from windows/unix newline differences. It worked for years without a problem. Here are the symptoms. When I update from the command line, I see messages like these: "no such repository" messages /cvshome : no such repository False-"Modified" due to newline differences M java/com/foo/ekm/value/EkmContainerInstance.java False-"Conflicts" cvs update: Updating java/com/foo/ekm/value/XWiki cvs update: move away `java/com/foo/ekm/value/XWiki/XWikiContainerInstance.java'; it is in the way C java/com/foo/ekm/value/XWiki/XWikiContainerInstance.java Note the for the 'no such repository' error, I found that cd-ing into the 'CVS/' folder and running 'dos2unix Root' updates correctly. I'm not sure how this file (or Repository or Entries) gets whacked. I don't remember when these problems started. I have a workaround: updating from our IDE (Intellij Idea) always succeeds Yes, I know we should switch to (svn|git|mercurial), but does anyone know what causes these problems? when they were introduced? workarounds? thanks, bill

  What is the difference between the two lines of code below: CComPtr< IInterface > m_interface; IInterface* m_interface; I know that CComPtr help eliminate memory leaks, but I am getting inconsistent results. When declaring the pointer with CComPtr< IInterface > m_interface; and using the interface in my C# code there are no errors, however using the Interface in VC++ I get an unhandled exception error, even if I comment out the instance creation of IInterface. I am pretty sure the problem is in here somewhere: STDMETHODIMP CSomeClass::get_IClass(IClass** var) { return m_class_var->QueryInterface(var); } STDMETHODIMP CSomeClass::putref_IClass(IClass* var) { m_class_var = var; return S_OK; } When I declare the interface pointer with: IInterface* m_interface; I get a RPC_E_SERVERFAULT error when testing the Interface in C# and have to explicitly call GC.Collect() to avoid the error being thrown after instantiation of a few objects. When testing the Interface in VC++ the error is consistent however when it occurs is different. If I comment out the instance creation of IInterface the code runs fine, however when I try to create an instance I get same error as before, just a vague unhandled exception error. What am I doing wrong here?

  Specifically, I want to have my grails app under development to connect to an Oracle db defiined by an tnsnames.ora file. I have the tnsnames.ora file located in c:\drivers\Network\ on my PC. When I run the grails app via "grails run-war", the db connection string defined in the tnsnames.ora file doesn't seem to be picked up: grails prod run-war -Dserver.port=62215 -Doracle.net.tns_admin=C:\drivers\Netowrk\ It seems the name-value pair of oracle.net.tns_admin is not being passed to the JVM used by the the embedded Tomcat that comes with Grails 1.2.0. If not, what is the proper way of specify it, or pass any JAVA_OPTS to the underlying JVM?

  I'm starting to get my feet wet in the latest Google Web Toolkit using the Eclipse plugin on OS X 10.5.8. So far I've been able to get the client up and running, which is great. The server, though, is a different matter. I'm trying to link to a .jar file that has some classes I want to use in a server ServiceImpl class, but it seems to have glommed onto a previous iteration of the .jar - I've added a method, rebuilt the jar, removed the jar from the libraries tab on the GWT project's build path (as well as on the exports) and reincluded the jar.   I'm trying to generate a jasperReport, but I receive this: net.sf.jasperreports.engine.util.JRFontNotFoundException: Font 'Times New Roman' is not available to the JVM. See the Javadoc for more details. After searching on the net, I found that I need to add a jar to the classpath with the font. So, I create a jar file with the ttf files and now I want to add this as a dependency to my pom file. So: I installed the file : mvn install:install-file -Dfile=tf.jar -DgroupId=tf -DartifactId=tf -Dversion=1.0.0 -Dpackaging=jar and in my pom, I added these lines: <dependency> <groupId>tf</groupId> <artifactId>tf</artifactId> <version>1.0.0</version> </dependency> but I receive this: Dependency 'tf:tf:1.0.0' not found less I checked the repository folder and the jar file is there, in ... tf\tf\1.0.0\ What I'm doing wrong?

Basically, the MDB gets a JMS message, then uses a session bean to perform the work. The session bean holds the business logic. Here's my Session Bean: @Stateless public class TestBean implements TestBeanRemote { public void doSomething() { // business logic goes here } } The matching interface: @Remote public interface TestBeanRemote { public void doSomething(); } Here's my MDB: @MessageDriven(mappedName = "jms/mvs.TestController", activationConfig = { @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "acknowledgeMode", propertyValue = "Auto-acknowledge"), @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "destinationType", propertyValue = "javax.jms.Queue") }) public class TestController implements MessageListener { @EJB private TestBean testBean; public TestController() { } public void onMessage(Message message) { testBean.doSomething(); } } So far, not rocket science, right?
