  • Cannot receive email outside domain with Microsoft Exchange

    This morning we couldn't receive email from outside our company's domain (domain.com.au), but we can send email to outside (e.g hotmail, gmail, yahoo). When I tried to send email to my work email address using my gmail account, I received this message Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 Unable to relay for [email protected] (state 14). I tried using telnet to send email, and it works. But still I couldn't figure out why I can't receive email from outside. I'm not sure if I provided enough info. I'll try to provide as much info as needed to help me solve the problem. Thanks

    I have seen many job titles for people involved in a software development process, but never found a consensus about they mean. I know many of them are equivalent, and found some other questions about that here in SO, but I would like to know your definitions and comments about them. I want not only to know if there is really a consensus, but also to know if what I suppose to be a Software Architect, is really a Software Architect, and so on. The terms Map and Reduce come from Lisp and functional programming. MapReduce is, in retrospect, obvious to anyone who remembers from their 6.001-equivalent programming class that purely functional programs have no side effects and are thus trivially parallelizable. What does he mean when he says functional programs have no side effects? And how does this make parallelizing trivial?

  • OT: US Banks: Bank Routing Number and BIC/SWIFT

    I know it is a bit offtopic, but I've been having a hard time finding more information to this question, and since this site is visited by a lot of people from the United States, you guys might know/find the answer more easily. Banks in europe each have a SWIFT Number, while US Banks use Routing Numbers. This leads to following questions: Does each bank in the US also carry a BIC number? (SWIFT) Is there a 1-1 relationship between BIC and SWIFT? Is there a list of these numbers somewhere? (background information: we're adding international payments to our bookkeeping application. Users can add international suppliers, but my boss prefered not to change the current supplier table but to have the ROUTING NUMBER in another table, with as PK the BIC. I'm wondering if BIC is a valid choice, or if it should just be BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER.)

Once i accidentally removed the external harddisk usb connection then when i try to startup the ubuntu virtual machine again i get kernel panic.     I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but I honestly have exhausted my self searching for the last hour. I am looking for a quotation made about Microsofts software. It goes something along the lines of: "They may make 2nd grade crappy software, but by God they know how to design interfaces" It was by a somewhat popular open source personality about the lack of good interface design in open source software.   • Corrupted version of WordPad [closed]

    Somehow in trying to cleanup my computer's hard drive, I have inadvertently corrupted WordPad, which I have long used for viewing many types of files, including logs (i.e., log4j). Now when I right click one of these files and choose "open with" & WordPad, I get an error (fn is not a valid Win32 application). I've researched this issue, tried reinstalling wordpad.exe; bbut I still get the same error. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • McAfee Virus Scan and Oracle RAC

    Hi, We're experiencing a strange problem with Oracle RAC and McAfee anti-virus. As part of the installation of the Oracle RAC we disable anti virus as directed. We have had our RAC running fine, but when we came to re-enable the AV and reboot we got the BSOD. Abnormal Program Termination (BugCheck, STOP: 0x00000035 (0x8E984678, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS Following the standard process of raising this problem with Microsoft they identify the problem and also a fix. Microsoft talk about too many file filter drivers being present and pushing the DFS upper limit beyond the default size. Upping this value, as per msdn, has no impact. We're able to recover from this BSOD by disabling AV. We don't have the problem if we run the AV service manually whilst the system is up. However, if we make the service automatic we fail to boot. Tech Details 2 Node Oracle 10g Cluster 2 * Windows 2003 SP2, 16GB RAM, Quad Core 3ghz Processor SAN attached storage McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i, Scan Engine (5300.2777), DAT Version (5536.0000) Thanks Lee
