• Recommendation for Document Management Solution

  We've just been informed by our software vendor that the custom document management system they'd written is no longer in development, and will not be supported in the future. So we are looking at new document management systems. Requirements: Multiple input vectors, we receive documents via e-mail, fax, scanning, and from the originating application Ability to Redact or obscure data. Customers may fax an order with CC data, we want to attach the image of the order form with the order record, but the CC data needs to be protected. Same with Tax IDs. Certain users should be able to see the redacted data, but access should be logged. Version control on documents. We'd like Product Development and Marketing to be able to track various versions of documents like Packaging Designs, but ensure that users have the latest approved version. AD integration, my users don't need another password. Ability to integrate to other apps. Our current system, offers function keys in the order-entry system, that will spawn the viewer application, and open the correct document. Mass import facility, we have a half a terabyte of existing documents in the old system that we would like to import. Retention Policy. I'd like a way to have the system comply with the corporate retention policy, so that when a document of a certain type reaches a certain age, it gets deleted, or atleast marked for manual deletion. We are a Windows Server and HP-UX shop. Does anybody have any experience with Document Management systems that they would like to share? Thanks.

• XP IIS no longer listen to port 80 or 443 after installing Oracle 9i HTTP Server

  I have installed Oracle 9i HTTP Server together with the database. After restarting the PC, even though i restarted the IIS and stopped the Oracle HTTP Server. When I go to http://localhost/ The starting page is already the Oracle HTTP Server index page. Also when I look at the port that inetinfo.exe is listening to, it no longer listens to port 80 and the SSL port 443, even if i restart the IIS and World Wide Web Publishing service. Any idea what setting did oracle changed when I installed oracle 9i? The executable associated with the OracleOraHome90HTTPServer is C:\oracle\ora90\Apache\Apache\Apache.exe I already checked the tasklist and Apache is really not running. But there is no process listening to port 80 still even if the IIS restarts successfully. Any ideas how to fix this?

• Cannot find Power Management Tab in XP

  I have the problem that when I send my computer to sleep it wakes if you bump the table, floor, burp etc. I have read many threads that say go to Device Manager Mouse Properties Power Management Tab and uncheck the box for wake. My problem is I do not have a Power Management Tab! Anyone know how to enable the tab or stop the mouse from waking my machine? And no, turning it upside down doesn't work either!

• Knowledge and user generated content management system to track files, research, proposals, etc.?

  I'll try keep it short. Here's the scenario: We have employees all over the world performing similar work i.e. research, generating powerpoint slides, word documents, graphics, etc. Many times a lot of this previous work can be reused for another future project. The current arrangement is email and phone calls which as you would agree is quick if you know where to look but otherwise archaic and very very inefficient. So I am looking for software that will allow me to do the following: Tag files e.g. an investor presentation on cellphone usage in kenya would be tagged investor, cellphone, kenya Manage references e.g. if we read something on the internet, should be able to paste that link in some fashion and tag it as above. Preferably cloud based so that it can be accessed by anybody and additionally would be nice (though NOT must) to have access levels (director, manager, everyone) A nice interface that non technically savvy folks can warm up to ;) A desktop app would be handy so that people don't always have to click upload or something A tree based system is inefficient in this case because content is usually linked across branches and also people might not quite agree on one format of a tree. Tagging works around this very nicely. What I have considered so far: Evernote (for its more professional look) Springpad (for its versatility with content) Mendeley (this is a research manager and in some ways ideal, but i fear its limited to PDFs) The goal is that when somebody wants to look for a document, they don't have to ask a colleague, they can just search with keywords and all relevant information shows up. It offers a vast array of learning and networking opportunities in one of the planet’s great cities.  And one of the key reasons for its popularity among procurement and supply chain professionals is the prominence of presentations by customers.   If you’d like to deliver a presentation based on your experience, now is the time to submit your abstract for review by the selection panel. The competition is strong: roughly 18% of entries are accepted each year from more than 3,000 submissions. Review panels are made up of experts both internal and external to Oracle. Successful submissions often (but not exclusively) focus on customer successes, how-tos, or best practices. What’s in it for you? Recognition, for one thing. Accepted sessions are publicized in the content catalog, which goes live in mid-June, and sessions given by external speakers often prove the most popular.     The R Interface to Oracle Data Mining ( R-ODM) allows R users to access the power of Oracle Data Mining's in-database functions using the familiar R syntax. R-ODM provides a powerful environment for prototyping data analysis and data mining methodologies. R-ODM is especially useful for: Quick prototyping of vertical or domain-based applications where the Oracle Database supports the application Scripting of "production" data mining methodologies Customizing graphics of ODM data mining results (examples: classification, regression, anomaly detection) The R-ODM interface allows R users to mine data using Oracle Data Mining from the R programming environment. It consists of a set of function wrappers written in source R language that pass data and parameters from the R environment to the Oracle RDBMS enterprise edition as standard user PL/SQL queries via an ODBC interface. The R-ODM interface code is a thin layer of logic and SQL that calls through an ODBC interface. R-ODM does not use or expose any Oracle product code as it is completely an external interface and not part of any Oracle product. R-ODM is similar to the example scripts (e.g., the PL/SQL demo code) that illustrates the use of Oracle Data Mining, for example, how to create Data Mining models, pass arguments, retrieve results etc. R-ODM is packaged as a standard R source package and is distributed freely as part of the R environment's Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN). For information about the R environment, R packages and CRAN, see www.r-project.org. R-ODM is particularly intended for data analysts and statisticians familiar with R but not necessarily familiar with the Oracle database environment or PL/SQL. It is a convenient environment to rapidly experiment and prototype Data Mining models and applications. Data Mining models prototyped in the R environment can easily be deployed in their final form in the database environment, just like any other standard Oracle Data Mining model. What is R? • Paypal (sandbox) buy now link redirects to paypal (sandbox) login page instead of order summary

  Hi, Before going live I try to test the paypal process against the paypal sandbox mode, but after the summary of what the user is going to pay on my website(buy now button), the link does not redirect to a paypal summary of the prder but ask the user to connect to paypal. Even after logging into the buyer sandbox account there's no summary of the order. It just disappears. • Oracle 10g express home page is not coming up

  Hello All: My Oracle 10g Express Edition , I can login in the SQL plus but I cannot login into oracle via SQL developer and cannot view the Home page at link http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex. This was working fine until yesterday. I have checked via (WINDOWS)netstat -ab and no other app is using the 8080 port. The only thing I did today was I changed my SQL server 2005 Developer edition from Windows authentication to Mixed Mode authentication. Can anyone let me know how to get the Oracle Web page and the SQL Developer to work. I will gratly appreciate that. Thanks! Adnan A.

• mySQL ORDER BY ASC works, DESC does not...

  I've "integrated" SMF into Wordpress by querying the forum for a list of the most recent videos from a specific forum board and displaying them on the Wordpress homepage. However when I add the ORDER BY clause, the query (which I tested on other parts of the same page successfully), breaks. To add to the mix, I am using the Auto Embed plugin to allow the videos to be played on the homepage, as well as using a jCarousel feature to rotate them. People were kind enough to help me here last time with the regexp to filter the video urls, I'm hoping for the same luck this time! I tried to use different indexes, no luck. • Interessiert an einem Experience Pass für Java, SQL oder PL/SQL?

  Im Mai startete die Oracle Academy über das "Introduction to Computer Science Programm" erstmals eine Experience Pass Kampagne. Das Introduction-Programm bietet Lehrkräften die Möglichkeit, an speziell organisierten Trainings zu Java, Database Design, SQL oder PL/SQL teilzunehmen und quasi einen ausgewählten Ausbildungspfad zu durchlaufen. Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss (mit einem Oracle Academy Zertifikat) können diese Themen dann an den jeweiligen Schulen unterrichtet werden. Dieses spezielle Ausbildungsprogramm läuft bereits seit mehreren Jahren erfolgreich in Österreich und wird seit Frühjahr 2014 nun auch für deutsche Schulen angeboten! Lehrkräfte, die das Thema Java oder SQL bzw. PL/SQL  bereits seit längerer Zeit unterrichten und kein Ausbildungstraining benötigen, können einen sogennanten Experience Pass anfordern.
