  • Getting Http Status code number (200, 301, 404, etc.) from HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse

    - by James Lawruk
    I am trying to get the HTTP status code number from the HttpWebResponse object returned from a HttpWebRequest. I was hoping to get the actual numbers (200, 301,302, 404, etc.) rather than the text description. ("Ok", "MovedPermanently", etc.) Is the number buried in a property somewhere in the response object? Any ideas other than creating a big switch function? Thanks. HttpWebRequest webRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://www.gooogle.com/"); webRequest.AllowAutoRedirect = false; HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)webRequest.GetResponse(); //Returns "MovedPermanently", not 301 which is what I want. Console.Write(response.StatusCode.ToString());

  • Jquery .html and .load

    - by Jack Pilowsky
    I'm trying to teach myself jQuery and I'm a little stomped with the load() method. I'm working on eBay listings. Yes, I know includes are not allowed on ebay. However, there is a workaround that has been around for a few years and ebay doesn't seem to be cracking down on it. var ebayItemID='xxxxxxxxxxxxxx'; // This is eBay code. I cannot edit it. <h1 id="title"> TO BE REPLACED</h1> $(document).ready(function(){ var link = "http://www.ebay.com/itm/" + ebayItemID + "?item=" + ebayItemID + &viewitem=&vxp=mtr"; var newTitle = $('#title').load(link + "#itemTitle"); $('#title').html(newTitle); }); What's the point of this. I want to show the item title on the description, but I want to do so dynamically,

  • How can we make a single dimension array to multidimensional Hierarchical ?

    - by Chetan sharma
    I have an single array of Hierarchical categories. Index of the array is the category_id like:: [8846] => Array ( [category_id] => 8846 [title] => Tsting two [description] => Tsting two [subtype] => categories [type] => object [level] => 2 [parent_category] => 8841 [tags] => new [name] => Tsting two ) each value has its parent_category value, I have around 500 elements in the array, what is the best way to make it. Process i followed: krsort categories array, so that all the child categories are at the beginning, then function makeHierarchical() { foreach($this->categories as $guid => $category) { if($category['level'] != 1) $this->multilevel_categories[$category['parent_category']][$guid] = $category; } } but this is not working, it does it only for first level. Can someone point out me the error.

  • lists:keyfind problems

    - by dagda1
    Hi, I cannot for the life of me get lists:keyfind to work as I expect in Erlang. I have the following eunit test: should_find_key_test() -> NewList = lists:keystore("key", 1, [], {"key", "value"}), Value = case lists:keyfind("key", 1, NewList) of false -> notfound; {_key, _value} -> _value end, ?debugVal(Value). Whenever I run this test I get the following error message: indextests:should_find_key_test (module 'indextests')...failed ::error:undef in function lists:keyfind/3 called as keyfind("key",1,[{"key","value"}]) in call from indextests:should_find_key_test/0 Can anyone see what I am doing wrong? Is it saying that lists:keyfind no longer exists? Cheers Paul

  • Improving HTML scrapper efficiency with pcntl_fork()

    - by Michael Pasqualone
    With the help from two previous questions, I now have a working HTML scrapper that feeds product information into a database. What I am now trying to do is improve efficiently by wrapping my brain around with getting my scrapper working with pcntl_fork. If I split my php5-cli script into 10 separate chunks, I improve total runtime by a large factor so I know I am not i/o or cpu bound but just limited by the linear nature of my scraping functions. Using code I've cobbled together from multiple sources, I have this working test: <?php libxml_use_internal_errors(true); ini_set('max_execution_time', 0); ini_set('max_input_time', 0); set_time_limit(0); $hrefArray = array("http://slashdot.org", "http://slashdot.org", "http://slashdot.org", "http://slashdot.org"); function doDomStuff($singleHref,$childPid) { $html = new DOMDocument(); $html->loadHtmlFile($singleHref); $xPath = new DOMXPath($html); $domQuery = '//div[@id="slogan"]/h2'; $domReturn = $xPath->query($domQuery); foreach($domReturn as $return) { $slogan = $return->nodeValue; echo "Child PID #" . $childPid . " says: " . $slogan . "\n"; } } $pids = array(); foreach ($hrefArray as $singleHref) { $pid = pcntl_fork(); if ($pid == -1) { die("Couldn't fork, error!"); } elseif ($pid > 0) { // We are the parent $pids[] = $pid; } else { // We are the child $childPid = posix_getpid(); doDomStuff($singleHref,$childPid); exit(0); } } foreach ($pids as $pid) { pcntl_waitpid($pid, $status); } // Clear the libxml buffer so it doesn't fill up libxml_clear_errors(); Which raises the following questions: 1) Given my hrefArray contains 4 urls - if the array was to contain say 1,000 product urls this code would spawn 1,000 child processes? If so, what is the best way to limit the amount of processes to say 10, and again 1,000 urls as an example split the child work load to 100 products per child (10 x 100). 2) I've learn that pcntl_fork creates a copy of the process and all variables, classes, etc. What I would like to do is replace my hrefArray variable with a DOMDocument query that builds the list of products to scrape, and then feeds them off to child processes to do the processing - so spreading the load across 10 child workers. My brain is telling I need to do something like the following (obviously this doesn't work, so don't run it): <?php libxml_use_internal_errors(true); ini_set('max_execution_time', 0); ini_set('max_input_time', 0); set_time_limit(0); $maxChildWorkers = 10; $html = new DOMDocument(); $html->loadHtmlFile('http://xxxx'); $xPath = new DOMXPath($html); $domQuery = '//div[@id=productDetail]/a'; $domReturn = $xPath->query($domQuery); $hrefsArray[] = $domReturn->getAttribute('href'); function doDomStuff($singleHref) { // Do stuff here with each product } // To figure out: Split href array into $maxChilderWorks # of workArray1, workArray2 ... workArray10. $pids = array(); foreach ($workArray(1,2,3 ... 10) as $singleHref) { $pid = pcntl_fork(); if ($pid == -1) { die("Couldn't fork, error!"); } elseif ($pid > 0) { // We are the parent $pids[] = $pid; } else { // We are the child $childPid = posix_getpid(); doDomStuff($singleHref); exit(0); } } foreach ($pids as $pid) { pcntl_waitpid($pid, $status); } // Clear the libxml buffer so it doesn't fill up libxml_clear_errors(); But what I can't figure out is how to build my hrefsArray[] in the master/parent process only and feed it off to the child process. Currently everything I've tried causes loops in the child processes. I.e. my hrefsArray gets built in the master, and in each subsequent child process. I am sure I am going about this all totally wrong, so would greatly appreciate just general nudge in the right direction.

  • HTML Link and Jquery Live Only Works on First Try with one click

    - by Jon
    Hi Everyone, I'm running into a problem with jquery live event binding on a link. When the link is added to the page it works fine, however when another link is added to the unordered list it requires two clicks for the click event to fire on either link. Any ideas? $("div#website-messages ul li a").live("click", function() { var link = $(this); changeTab(link.attr("href")); $(link.attr("title")).focus(); return false; });

  • How to use Zend_Cache Identifier ?

    - by ArneRie
    Hi Folks, i think iam getting crazy, iam trying to implement Zend_Cache to cache my database query. I know how it works and how to configure. But i cant find a good way to set the Identifier for the cache entrys. I have an method wich search for records in my database (based on an array with search values). /** * Find Record(s) * Returns one record, or array with objects * * @param array $search Search columns => value * @param integer $limit Limit results * @return array One record , or array with objects */ public function find(array $search, $limit = null) { $identifier = 'NoIdea'; if (!($data = $this->_cache->load($identifier))) { // fetch // save to cache with $identifier.. } But what kind of identifier can use in this situation?

  • Zend_Form and Liskov Substitution Principle

    - by blockhead
    A very common pattern I see (I'm picking on Zend Framework, only because I was dealing with it at the moment of this question), is something like this: class My_Form extends Zend_Form { public function init() { $this->addElement(); } } Zend_Form is not an abstract class, but is perfectly usable on its own. This seems to be "recommended" as place to "encapsulate" your forms into a nice class. Does this violate the Liskov Substitution Principle? Each subclass of Zend_Form will have a wildy different behavior than the base class. Would it be better to use composition for this, or am I totally misunderstanding this principle?

  • Opinions regarding C++ programming practice

    - by Sagar
    I have a program that I am writing, not too big. Apart from the main function, it has about 15 other functions that called for various tasks at various times. The code works just fine all in one file, and as it is right now. However, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether it is smarter/more efficient/better programming to put those functions in a separate file different from where main is, or whether it even matters at all. If yes, why? If no, why not? I am not new at C++, but definitely not an expert either, so if you think this question is stupid, feel free to tell me so. Thanks for your time!

  • Validate Form with PHP AND Javascriipt?

    - by J M 4
    Is it possible to validate a form with PHP AND Javascript? I am currently able to do both using my existing form but only on an individual basis. My overall goal is this: Validate form using javascript client side and present any errors to the user immediately If javascript validation passes, a flag is created and then the PHP script can begin. When doing my javascript validation, i use the following code within the form tag: <form id="Enroll_Form" action="review.php" method="post" name="Enroll_Form" onsubmit="return Enroll_Form_Validator(this)" language="javascript"> if I want to process the PHP validation, I am forced to rename the action to the PHP_SELF file (or simply the same file name i'm using) and remove the 'onsubmit' function. Any ideas?

  • c++ : list(vector) definition with array

    - by Meloun
    I have Class Email, there is parameter "bcc" in her construktor. Its actually list of emails for copies. There is no fixed number of these emails and later i have to have possibility to extend this list. //construktor prototype Email::Email(vector<string> bcc) So i want to use type vector or list for that and function push_back(). How can i make a new instance with bcc emails? I need actually declaration with definition for my list. I've found this definition with iterator for integer type: int myints[] = {16,2,77,29}; Email myEmail(vector<int> (myints, myints + sizeof(myints) / sizeof(int) )); , but its not very user friend and i need it with strings. Is there something like this? Email myEmail(vector<string> ("first","second","third"));

  • How do I read from a file consists of city names and coordinates/Populations and create functions to get the coordinates and population?

    - by Braybray
    I'm using Python, and I have a file which has city names and information such as names, coordinates of the city and population of the city: Youngstown, OH[4110,8065]115436 Yankton, SD[4288,9739]12011 966 Yakima, WA[4660,12051]49826 1513 2410 Worcester, MA[4227,7180]161799 2964 1520 604 Wisconsin Dells, WI[4363,8977]2521 1149 1817 481 595 How can I create a function to take the city name and return a list containing the latitude and longitude of the given city? fin = open ("miles.dat","r") def getCoordinates cities = [] for line in fin: cities.append(line.rstrip()) for word in line: print line.split() That's what I tried now; how could I get the coordinates of the city by calling the names of the city and how can I return the word of each line but not letters? Any help will be much appreciated, thanks all.

  • Passing dependent objects to a parent constructor in Scala

    - by Nick Johnson
    Suppose I have the following class heirarchy: class A() class B(a:A) class C(b:B) class BaseClass(b:B, c:C) Now I want to implement a subclass of BaseClass, which is given an instance of A, and constructs instances of B and C, which it passes to its superclass constructor. If I could use arbitrary expressions, I'd do something like this: b = new B(a) c = new C(b) super(b, c) Because the second argument to the parent constructor depends on the value of the first argument, though, I can't see any way to do this, without using a factory function, or a gratuitous hack, such as : class IntermediateSubclass(b:B) extends BaseClass(b, new C(b)) class RealSubclass(a:A) extends IntermediateSubclass(new B(a)) Is there clean way to do this?

  • C++ IDE for Linux with smart reference searching

    - by Dmitry Yudakov
    Is there an IDE supporting C++ with REALLY smart searching of references? By 'reference' I mean usage of a class (or its member), variable, function in the whole Project or Workspace. There's lots of IDE providing it. Some of them seem just to search for the text with same name giving lots of stuff, others are smarter and check the context (like class boundaries, namespace) but aren't accurate enough. The best I've tried so far was Visual SlickEdit, but still there's more to wish. class C1 { int foo; }; class C2 { int foo; }; For example in this situation when searching for C1::foo references I don't want C2::foo to be shown too. So, is there an IDE that would be so smart?

  • When should an array name be treated as a pointer and when does it just represent the array itself? [duplicate]

    - by user1087373
    This question already has an answer here: When is an array name or a function name 'converted' into a pointer ? (in C) 4 answers I just made a test program after reading the book and the result turned out confusing: #include <stdio.h> int main(void) { char text[] = "hello!"; printf("sizeof(text):%d sizeof(text+2):%d sizeof(text[0]):%d \n",(int)sizeof(text), sizeof(text+2), sizeof(text[0])); printf("text:%p sizeof(text):%d &text:%p sizeof(&text):%d \n",text, sizeof(text), &text, sizeof(&text)); printf("text+1:%p &text+1:%p \n", text+1, &text+1); return 0; } The result: sizeof(text):7 sizeof(text+2):4 sizeof(text[0]):1 text:0xbfc8769d sizeof(text):7 &text:0xbfc8769d sizeof(&text):4 text+1:0xbfc8769e &text+1:0xbfc876a4 What makes me feel confused are: why the value of 'sizeof(text)' is 7 whereas 'sizeof(text+2)' is 4 what's the difference between 'text' and '&text'?

  • Indexing datetime in MySQL

    - by User1
    What is the best way to index a datetime in MySQL? Which method is faster: Store the datetime as a double (via unix timestamp) Store the datetime as a datetime The application generating the timestamp data can output either format. Unfortunately, datetime will be a key for this particular data structure so speed will matter. Also, is it possible to make an index on an expression? For example, index on UNIX_TIMESTAMP(mydate) where mydate is a field in a table and UNIX_TIMESTAMP is a mysql function. I know that Postgres can do it. I'm thinking there must be a way in mysql as well.

  • Why is my implementation of strcmp not returning the proper value?

    - by Avanish Giri

  • Get local network interface addresses using only proc?

    - by Matt Joiner
    How can I obtain the (IPv4) addresses for all network interfaces using only proc? After some extensive investigation I've discovered the following: ifconfig makes use of SIOCGIFADDR, which requires open sockets and advance knowledge of all the interface names. It also isn't documented in any manual pages on Linux. proc contains /proc/net/dev, but this is a list of interface statistics. proc contains /proc/net/if_inet6, which is exactly what I need but for IPv6. Generally interfaces are easy to find in proc, but actual addresses are very rarely used except where explicitly part of some connection. There's a system call called getifaddrs, which is very much a "magical" function you'd expect to see in Windows. It's also implemented on BSD. However it's not very text-oriented, which makes it difficult to use from non-C languages.

  • Getting all types from an assembly derived from a base class

    - by CaptnCraig
    I am trying to examine the contents of an assembly and find all classes in it that are directly or indirectly derived from Windows.Forms.UserControl. I am doing this: Assembly dll = Assembly.LoadFrom(filename); var types = dll.GetTypes().Where(x => x.BaseType == typeof(UserControl)); But it is giving an empty list because none of the classes directly extend UserControl. I don't know enough about reflection to do it quickly, and I'd rather not write a recursive function if I don't have to.

  • Fading transition slideshow

    - by Simon Carlson
    I've got a JavaScript that produces a slideshow. It loads the pictures before starting the actual slideshow. Code below. var image1=new Image() image1.src="filename1.jpg" var image2=new Image() image2.src="filename2.jpg" var image3=new Image() image3.src="filename3.jpg" var step=1 function slideit(){ if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=eval("image"+step+".src") if (step<3) step++ else step=1 setTimeout("slideit()",1000) } And this is the required HTML for it to work: <img src="filename1.jpg" name="slide" /> Now, if I want to have fading transitions instead of just having new pictures popping up, how do I approach this? By fading I mean either have the old picture fade out, the new fade in or possibly and most likely both fade in/out. Can this be achieved with pure JavaScript and no jQuery or Ajax?
