  • Broadcom 440x Ethernet NIC Drivers and Windows Home Server

    I have installed Windows Home Server on an older Dell computer, and it uses a Broadcom 440x Ethernet NIC driver. I have tried all of the drivers listed on their drivers page to no luck. The error message I get when trying to install is: "The parameter is incorrect" I know it is a long shot, but anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

  • How to delete autorun.inf file from USB. It says "Access denied"

    Hi, My system has been infected by autorun.inf trojan. inorder to remove this trojan, i need to delete the autorun.inf file from my usb drive(i am using USB drive to connect to internet). But when i tried to delete the same, it says "access denied". I am unable to uncheck the read-only option. I have tried all the solutions by googling, but no luck. Can you help me out?

  • s3fs not maintaining uid/gid

    I'm mounting s3 using s3fs with the following command: sudo /usr/local/bin/s3fs -o use_cache=/tmp,uid=1000,gid=1000,allow_other svn.domain.com /svn Allow_other is confirmed to be working along with cache. However, no variation/different placement of the uid/gid's is having any affect in the meta data on S3. Both the uid and gid come up as '0' in S3. I have created a user called svn with uid of 1000 to see if that would fix the problem. No luck.

  • raid 6 vs raid 10? which would you choose.

    my choice would be raid 6 for a file server since you can lose two drives and it does not matter which set of two can die. from what i understand with raid 10 you can lose two drives but if they happen to be off the same raid 1 then you are a out of luck? any suggestions? basic file server with about 200gb of data and it would act as a single point of backup for other workstations and servers. thanks in advance.

  • Compiling PHP with cURL and SSL support on Redhat EC5

    I don't even know where to begin to be honest. Trying to use an external API that requires SSL connections, I discover that SSL in needed on cURL, but this (apparently) requires PHP to be reinstalled and compiled with cURL / SSL support. Not really experienced with compiling PHP, and I'm not sure if our server even has make or build, the only luck I've had is with rpm's before. This really isn't in my job description. Any help most most welcome!

    This is the setup I have working for mydomain.org: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ServerName mydomain.org ServerAlias *.mydomain.org DocumentRoot /var/www/ </VirtualHost> If I request www.mydomain.org, apache throws a 403 with the following appended to the log: (13)Permission denied: /root/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable I've tried changing ServerName to www.mydomain.org, and changing ServerAlias to www.mydomain.org as well with no luck. What am I missing?

  • Dragging a window makes it become choppy

    On my old computer when you drag a window around, it seems to be cut up (like what you'd see in remote desktop on a slow connection) and its becoming really annoying. A few weeks when I was transferring data from it to my new laptop and it was working fine then however when I started it a few minutes ago this issue occurred. I tried restarting several time with no luck. OS: Windows XP Professional Graphics Card: nVidia 9600GT

  • Which ports to open on host firewall so that network printing and scanning works?

    I have a multi-functional machine which is both a laser printer and a scanner (Samsung SC-4705ND) I am not able to make the scanner work with the (software) firewall installed in my computer turned on. Operating system is ubuntu 12.04 with regular firewall. if firewall is turned off then everything works as expected I run nmap to discover open services on the samsung machine and I opened all these ports: 80, 427, 515, 631, 5200, 9100, 10001 but with not luck.. How should I configure firewall?

I need to downgrade Java from version 1.6 to 1.5, and have been trying to figure out how to go about this. So far, I've had no luck. The package manager doesn't seem to have it.   • Diagnostic Policy does not run

    I have got a starange error on another pc that runs windows vista. The problem seems to be that the Diagnostic policy does not manage to run. Therefor I can not find out why it can not run.I have tried to start it manually with no luck, with an error code thar say that you have no permission. Since Diagnostic policy does not run, I am not able to connect to the internet. Can somebody please help me?

  • Can't connect to FTP sites

    This started happening when I installed Windows 7. I've tried with Filezilla and with the FireFTP Firefox plugin, and I could never connect. Filezilla gave the error message "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server". I tried disabling the Windows Firewall, but no luck. Any ideas on what might be causing this? I just discovered that I can connect with web services like net2ftp, but not with FTP clients.

  • windows 7 Libraries corruption

    I've provided an image to show the issue that im currently having. So basically the libraries work fine on windows explorer works fine, but trying to access from a browser, to upload file for example, the libraries just don't work they seem to be empty. Looking at the image, the window on the left is from the chrome browser and the windows on the right is from windows explorer.     One of the desktop computers in my office is unable to access some particular websites. We've tried from Chrome, IE, Firefox, but no luck. eg: http://spsims.wto.org/ -> click on "Regular notifications" On the affected computer, every browser times out after the click. Whereas it should redirect the user to http://spsims.wto.org/web/pages/search/notification/regular/Search.aspx How can I diagnose this further? This is a Windows XP machine.

    I'm trying to lock down a kiosk PC and need to disable various 'Ctrl + key' keyboard shortcuts. I started by disabling them individually using AutoHotkey... ^F4::return ^w::return ^+w::return ^Esc::return ^+Esc::return ;etc... but keep discovering new ones shortcuts (did you know that 'Ctrl + Q' in IE8 displays a tab thumbnail page). So I tried to disable the Ctrl key completely using stuff like: LCtrl::return RCtrl::return ~Ctrl::return ^::return with no luck. Any ideas?

    I want to install Win Xp on my Ideapad Z 570 laptop but i always get blue screen with message with some drive related problem which asks me to run CHKDSK command. I tried with that but no luck. Is there any way i can install Win Xp with SP 2 ?     Hello, I have Data protection manager (DPM) 2010. I did a backup of my system which has been saved into different partitions. The computer running DPM crashed and is not allowing me to restore the backup. However, i still have all the backups as partitions.
