• Apache - building extensions with apxs

  Hello, Pardon the newbie question - I haven't worked with manually compiling Apache modules (or anything) before. I am trying to get the mod_concat module going. It seems simple enough - just requires downloading the mod_concat.c file and then running: axps -c mod_concat.c This is new to me. Does it matter which directory I put mod_concat.c before running this command? I ran it from my home directory, and I see some new files - mod_concat.la, mod_concat.lo, mod_concat.o, and mod_concat.slo - along with a new subfolder called .libs/ that contains mod_concat.so along with some other files. I'm not sure where to go from here, I have a feeling these files were created in the wrong place. Don't I need mod_concat.so to be in my apache modules directory with the rest? • Using AutoMySQLBackup on Rackspace Cloud

  Since Rackspace Cloud only allows FTP access it makes using AutoMySQLBackup a little trickier, and while it is at least creating DB dumps I get errors in the backup log: ###### WARNING ###### Errors reported during AutoMySQLBackup execution.. Backup failed Error log below.. .../backups/automysqlbackup: line 1791: /usr/bin/find: Permission denied .../backups/automysqlbackup: line 1855: /usr/bin/find: Permission denied .../backups/automysqlbackup: line 803: /usr/bin/find: Permission denied .../backups/automysqlbackup: line 1972: /usr/bin/du: Permission denied Since files are being created I'm assuming the find command failing has to do with actually rotating out and deleting the old backups? • Bash: Created a ~ (Tilde) in a directory by accident

  I'm a beginner to using bash on OSX, and I somehow created a ~ dir in a project subfolder. (It appears as a directory, rather than a symlink.) Is there a safe way to get rid of this ~ directory instance without bash expanding the tilde wiping my local user directory? This is a really goofy question, but it would be a huge help to figure out how to deal with this. Solution: I ended up using rm -rfi ./\~, which worked safely. Thanks, everyone!

  Permissions are fine (inherited) and checking effective permissions everything is AOK. As you can see i can make a file in the docs folder but not the pdf_docs subfolder. The folder has a lot of files and is quite large- i wonder if i've reached a limit? I couldn't find anything on google. Size: 51.0 GB (54,819,804,885 bytes) Size on disk: 52.0 GB (55,925,719,040) Contains 554,697 Files EDIT I've just checked and i can delete files... and for every file i delete i appear to be able to create a new one. This definitely points toward a limit in terms of number of files?

• Outlook displaying sender incorrectly

  In one user mailbox anything sent from any distribution list in our domain shows up as being from 'System Administrator'. It only happens when they are viewing the inbox using outlook (OWA is not affected), and its persisted across computers (though it did not happen immediately). When other users view the inbox from their outlook install (ie open users folder), everything appears as normal. Other folders are not affected. if a message is moved into a subfolder, the sender displays properly. Because of the persistence, and it only affecting one user, I suspect some user behavior is causing this, but i cannot determine what. Ive checked the contact list, and its not that.

It sends an alert email if space runs low, but I want to also delete some unneeded stuff. I have a backup folder where I save daily and monthly backups. I want to delete the first folder since this always the oldest, but I don't know the name of the oldest backup.   For my .bashrc I have a lot of small snippet files in .config/bash, like 10-prompt.sh and so on. In my actual .bashrc, I just have the following: configdir="$HOME/.config/bash" for file in "$configdir"/*.sh do source "$file" done I'd like to do the same for my .vimrc, but I am not that confident in VimL that I could write that. How would the snippet for .vimrc look like that includes all the snippets in a given subfolder? Ideally, I'd like to make a .vim/rc/ folder where I can put my snippets into.

  I am trying to zip up a folder.. Example: C:\Test*.* C:\Test\bin*.* I want to be able to zip up the Test folder with bin subfolder, however, I need the Test folder contents in the zip root. I am trying to do this using the WinRar command line (rar.exe) I've tried using rar.exe a "C:\File.zip" -ep "C:\Test" but it puts all the folder contents in root... Tried rar.exe a "C:\File.zip" -ep "C:\Test*.*" "C:\Test\bin" same thing.. any ideas?

  I'm having difficulty having a sub folder act differently to the main domain in my web.config for iss. • Moving email to folders in Outlook 2007

  When i right click an email in Outlook 2007, it always defaults or opens to be saved in one particular folder. It's always the same folder. Actually a subfolder in a folder. It never used to do this. It would always default to the last folder that I had saved in before . Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? It is getting really time consuming and irritating. Would a windows update affect this?

  how it is possible to deny access to a folder, but execept some subfolders in it from "deny"? I tried something like this (in this order): #this subfolder shouldnt be denied and php scripts inside should be executable location ~ /data/public { allow all; } #this folder contains many subfolders that should be denied from public access location ~ /data { deny all; return 404; } ... which doesnt work correctly. Files inside the /data/public folder are accessible (all other in /data are denied as it should be), but PHP files are not executed anymore in the /data/public folder (if i dont add these restrictions, the php files are executable). What is wrong? How can it be correct? I think theres a better way to do it. It would be very nice if anyone can help me with this :).

  Let's say I want to get the size of each folder of a linux file system. When I use ls -la I don't really get the summarized size of the folders. If I use df I get the size of each mounted file system but that also doesn't help me. And with du I get the size of each subfolder and the summary of the whole file system. But I want to have only the summarized size of each folder within the ROOT folder of the file system. Is there any command to achiev that?

  I have very specific question. I've got 500,000 images that sit in 98 subfolders. Some of the subfolders contain 25,000 images. Is there any script/automator workflow that I can use? I was trying to create a workflow: Ask for Finder Items Get Folder Contents (tick repeat for each subfolder found) Rotate images It works OK, but only for these folders where there is less than 4,096 files: I normally receive following error message: Rotate images failed - 1 error too many arguments (12019) -- limit is 4096 Is there any way to increase this limit or create completely different apple script? I really hope that someone will help me with this one.

• Setting up a server with only subdomains, any connection to top level goes to main server on another IP?

  I'm developing a web app where users will have their own sub-domain to login to and use the application. I'm running wordpress for the main website to manage the public / front end. Our application is developed in zend framework. The zf project is currently in a subfolder on the main server. I'd like to place the zend framework project onto another server (different IP) and keep it separate from the the wordpress front end www.domain.com site. The zf application server will run nginx. I'm not sure how to setup a server to run strictly sub domains. Setting up the virtual hosts in the configuration file is no problem. To give the users username.domain.com. But what about the main default configuration file? How would that be configured since the top level domain is technically another server (wordpress) on another IP?

• Keep ASP.NET site and content separate

  I have an ASP.NET site in folder x. Currently lots of other static content gets added to folder x and gets mixed in, making it one big mess. I would like to keep the ASP.NET site and the content separate somehow. I know you can create virtual directories in IIS, but there are LOTS and even some content in the root. The content people are not technical and really need an easy way to add it. I would stick everything in a subfolder (they don't touch anything outside, I don't touch their folder), but that would change their URLs (www.example.com/something to www.example.com/content/something). I almost need a way to "merge" two folders and have them act as one. I'm guessing that is impossible since there could be file conflicts, etc. Any other ways I can achieve this?

  I'm trying to configure/build PHP 5.3.10 on Linux/Slackware 12 but the extensions appear in the wrong directory when I run make install. In the php.ini file is the extension dir defined: /usr/lib/php/extensions Problem is that when I run "make install" the newly built extensions are copied to a subfolder in extensions directory: /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626 What am I supposed to do with this... copy the files down from the no-debug-non-zts-20090626 directory into the extensions directory, create symlinks from extensions to the modules in the no-debug-non-zts-20090626 directory (which will take a lot of time) or what? (I know I can do any of them, but I want to know the correct way...)

• Why is my library/Documents shortcut showing all files from all subfolders in one flat list?

  I am using Windows Explorer on Windows 7. In My Documents there's a folder 02 KOOP. If I go there using the adress bar: D:\users\username\My Documents\02 KOOP I get a view of my subfolders and some files: However when I use the Documents shortcut under Libraries, and then go to the 02 KOOP folder, all files that are located in all subfolders are listed in one big list. When you view the file properties, the actual location is shown: This is the only subfolder of My Documents that has this behaviour. Did I accidentally change some setting, or is something wrong? Is this some setting I accidentally changed?

  The sysprep.exe file is simply missing on my Windows 7 64bit machine. I tried to find it on another computer, but it wasn't found there either. I can't understand it, because on a lot of forums and even in the official articles there are a lot of references to this tool. I've checked system, system32, sysWOW64 folders, and even made a full search with Total Commander. I only found a sysprep folder in the system32 folder, but inside was only an en-US subfolder, which was empty. Then I thought I will give my Windows PE bootdisk a try, which I've created a while ago. No result, only the same empty en-US folder is present there as well. Please if anyone knows what's happening, point me to the right direction. I need to clone my system and I'm stuck right at the first step...

• Backup software for Ubuntu - which one?

  Hi everybody, I have spent some time testing out different backup solutions for my small home office during the last weeks, but still haven't found anything that have been working out too well yet. We can definitely work with a non-GUI script if that's what it takes, if only the requirements are fulfilled: Upload to Amazon S3 Europe. We get unbelievable slow uploading speed to US, so uploading 400+ GB of data will not be happening anytime this year... Incremental backups - only changed files shall be uploaded or we will have a big bill from Amazon in the end of each month.. Files should not be uploaded in one big per-folder archive. This is not efficient at all, since if we change one file in a subfolder, a huge two-digit GB sized file would have to be uploaded during next backup. Not good for economy again, or traffic overhead on our internet connection. What options are available to us? Thanks!

By default when I created mailboxes via ISPManager panel, it wast Inbox.Sent, Inbox.Trash, Inbox.Drafts. which I didn't like because having sent and drafts as subfolder to inbox was kinda lame imo. I wanted those 3 to be as separate folders, not as subfolders. Creating them was no problem, just .Sent (for example) in maildir and clients can see it. The questions, how I "make" server to know that it should now send deleted mail to .Trash instead of .Inbox.trash, drafts and sent to their new fodlers respectively.

• Any way to overwrite (not merge) Outlook contacts when importing from a file?

  I'm trying to create a contact list for Outlook 2010 that will contain contact information for every person in my company. I intend on keeping the list current, which means I will be manually adding new employees to the contact list, and removing contacts who no longer work here. The contact list will reside in its own subfolder within the Outlook Contacts folder. I want to periodically export this contact list as a .csv file, and allow the other employees in the company to import it into Outlook on their own computer, thus providing them with a comprehensive and up-to-date company contact list. The problem is, Outlook 2010 only wants to merge contact lists, not overwrite them. This means that any contacts who are no longer with the company will not be removed from the contact lists on employee stations. Is there any way to force Outlook 2010 to overwrite the contact list? Oh how I long for the days of Outlook 2003 and its tidy .pab files.

• Universal navigation menu across domains

  I'd like to start by saying that I've searched for hours and could not find a definitive answer to my question. Across different sites on different second-level domains exists a universal navigation bar with a collection of roughly 30 links. This universal bar is exactly the same for every page on each domain. The bar's HTML, CSS and JavaScript are all stored in a subfolder for each domain and the HTML is embedded upon serving the page and is not being injected on the client side. None of the links use any rel directives and are as vanilla as can be. My question is about Google's duplicate content rule. Would something like this be considered duplicate content? Matt Cutt's blog post about duplicate content mentions boilerplate repetition, but then he mentions lengthy legalese. Since the text in this universal bar is brief and uses common terms, I wonder if this same rule applies. If this is considered duplicate content, what would be a good way to correct the problem?   Currently I am creating a website which has a common topic for an article, but it's going to be different content for each country, and also, each of that content will be provided in several languages. And this mechanism exists in most of the parts in the website. For example, I have an article about tax. This article has to be different for each country, for example china. And tax content for china should be written in china AND english language (for non china-speaker). What is the best URL pattern to handle this? What I've been thinking is, using a sub folder (/country-code/language-code/) such as: www.example.com/cn/cn/tax www.example.com/cn/en/tax Or using top level domain such as: www.example.cn/cn/tax www.example.cn/en/tax Or subdomain such as cn.example.com/cn/tax cn.example.com/en/tax I think I will not prefer the last option since I might need to use subdomain for other purpose. Which left only subfolder and TLDN. I've read some articles saying that TLDN is good for localized content (language-specific content), but in my case, my TLDN will also has english contents (for non local speaker) which is specific only to that particular country (also the purpose of this is to let people from other country easily search it through google). What is the best pattern to pick and why?.
