  • Installing Lubuntu 14.04.1 forcepae fails

    I tried to install Lubuntu 14.04.1 from a CD. First, I chose Try Lubuntu without installing which gave: ERROR: PAE is disabled on this Pentium M (PAE can potentially be enabled with kernel parameter "forcepae" ... Following the description on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PAE, I used forcepae and tried Try Lubuntu without installing again. That worked fine. dmesg | grep -i pae showed: [ 0.000000] Kernel command line: file=/cdrom/preseed/lubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash -- forcepae [ 0.008118] PAE forced! On the live-CD session, I tried installing Lubuntu double clicking on the install button on the desktop. Here, the CD starts running but then stops running and nothing happens. Next, I rebooted and tried installing Lubuntu directly from the boot menu screen using forcepae again. After a while, I receive the following error message: The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again. Hitting Enter brings me to the desktop. For what errors should I search? And how? Finally, I rebooted once more and tried Check disc for defects with forcepae option; no errors have been found. Now, I am wondering how to find the error or whether it would be better to follow advice c in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PAE: "Move the hard disk to a computer on which the processor has PAE capability and PAE flag (that is, almost everything else than a Banias). Install the system as usual but don't add restricted drivers. After the install move the disk back." Thanks for some hints!     I have an MVC2 Application that uses MVVM pattern. I am trying use Data Annotations to validate form input. In my ThingsController I have two methods: [HttpGet] public ActionResult Index() { return View(); } public ActionResult Details(ThingsViewModel tvm) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) return View(tvm); try { Query q = new Query(tvm.Query); ThingRepository repository = new ThingRepository(q); tvm.Airplanes = repository.All(); return View(tvm); } catch (Exception) { return View(); } } My Details.aspx view is strongly typed to the ThingsViewModel: <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<Config.Web.Models.ThingsViewModel>" %> The ViewModel is a class consisting of a IList of returned Thing objects and the Query string (which is submitted on the form) and has the Required data annotation: public class ThingsViewModel { public IList<Thing> Things{ get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage="You must enter a query")] public string Query { get; set; } } When I run this, and click the submit button on the form without entering a value I get a YSOD with the following error: The model item passed into the dictionary is of type 'Config.Web.Models.ThingsViewModel', but this dictionary requires a model item of type System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[Config.Domain.Entities.Thing]'. How can I get Data Annotations to work with a ViewModel? I cannot see what I'm missing or where I'm going wrong - the VM was working just fine before I started mucking around with validation.

    I'm attempting to match a string that can contain any number of numeric characters or a decimal point using the following regex: ([0-9.])* Here's some C# code to test the regex: Regex regex = new Regex("([0-9.])*"); if (!regex.IsMatch("a")) throw new Exception("No match."); I expect the exception to be thrown here but it isn't - am I using the Regex incorrectly or is there an error in the pattern? EDIT: I'd also like to match a blank string.

  • EDM -> POCO -> WCF (.NET4) But transferring Collections causes IsReadOnly set to TRUE

    Ok, this may sound a little 'unorthodox', but...using VS2010 and the new POCO t4 template for Entity Framework (http://tinyurl.com/y8wnkt2), I can generate nice POCO's. I can then use these POCO's (as DTO's) in a WCF service essentially going from EDM all the way through to the client. Kinda what this guys is doing (http://tinyurl.com/yb4bslv), except everything is generated automatically. I understand that an entity and a DTO 'should' be different, but in this case, I'm handling client and server, and there's some real advantages to having the DTO in the model and automatically generated. My problem is, that when I transfer an entity that has a relationship, the client generated collection (ICollection) has the read-only value set, so I can't manipulate that relationship. For example, retrieving an existing Order, I can't add a product to the Products collection client-side...the Products collection is read-only. I would prefer to do a bunch of client side 'order-editing' and then send the updated order back rather than making dozens of server round trips (eg AddProductToOrder(product)). I'd also prefer not to have a bunch of thunking between Entity and DTO. So all-in-all this looks good to me...except for the read-only part. Is there a solution, or is this too much against the SOA grain?

    I created a symbolic link to a .htm file. ln -sf /u105/app/ptelrep/reports/kfx/generated/KFX026_Wholesale_1.htm /u105/app/ptelrep/reports/kfx/generated/KFX026_Wholesale.htm The link works. I have the configuration file, reports.xml: /u355/app/ptelrep/tomcat50-jwsdp/conf/Catalina/localhost/reports.xml I have a JSP file which has link points to the symbolic link: onMouseOver="toggleDiv('div1',1)" onMouseOut="toggleDiv('div1',0)"Detail Usage I restarted the tomcat but the symlink is not working. When I change the symlink to a point to the original file, it works. Can anyone know what the problem is?

  • how to change strip.text labels in ggplot with facet and margin=TRUE

    I have looked here but still can't figure it out. How do I change the strip.text.x labels in a ggplot with faceting? Specifically I am using facet_grid with margins. The strip.text label for the margin is "(all)" - but since I am in a non-english speaking country I would rather write "Total" or something similar in my native tongue. opts(stip.text.x=c(levels(facetvariabel,"Total")) does not work. Any ideas? Example (not really the best dataset for this - but I guess it will work) ggplot(cars, aes(x=dist))+geom_bar()+facet_grid(.~speed, margin=T)

Also what calls should I look for in the Net tab in firebug to ensure that GA is being called when the page loads?

  • I need a true mouseOver...

    Ok, so mouseOver and RollOver, and their respective outs work great as long as your mouse is actually over the item, or one of it's children. My problem is that I may have another UI component "between" my mouse and the item I want to process the mouse/rollover(maybe a button that is on top of a canvas, but is not a child of the canvas). The mouse is still over the component, there's just something else that it's over at the same time. Any tips or help how to deal with this? Let me know if I'm not being clear enough.   • Why overload true and false instead of defining bool operator?

    I've been reading about overloading true and false in C#, and I think I understand the basic difference between this and defining a bool operator. The example I see around is something like: public static bool operator true(Foo foo) { return (foo.PropA > 0); } public static bool operator false(Foo foo) { return (foo.PropA <= 0); } To me, this is the same as saying: public static implicit operator bool(Foo foo) { return (foo.PropA > 0); } The difference, as far as I can tell, is that by defining true and false separately, you can have an object that is both true and false, or neither true nor false: public static bool operator true(Foo foo) { return true; } public static bool operator false(Foo foo) { return true; } //or public static bool operator true(Foo foo) { return false; } public static bool operator false(Foo foo) { return false; } I'm sure there's a reason this is allowed, but I just can't think of what it is. To me, if you want an object to be able to be converted to true or false, a single bool operator makes the most sense. Can anyone give me a scenario where it makes sense to do it the other way?     Recently while trying to answer a questions here, I ran some test code to see how Xcode/gdb reported the class of instances in class clusters. (see below) In the past, I've expected to see something like: PrivateClusterClass:PublicSuperClass:NSObject Such as this (which still returns as expected): NSPathStore2:NSString:NSObject ... for a string created with +[NSString pathWithComponents:]. Most importantly, when debugging how do you determine the actual class of a NSSet cluster instance?

  • Is it possible to block a page from opening using securityTrimmingEnabled=true

    I have custom SiteMapProvider and RoleProvider that works together properly: IsAccessibleToUser returns false if current user's role isn't mentioned in SiteMapNode.Roles for page requested. So breadcrumbs or menu doesn't show an item. But user still can type now showed URL directly and open a page. How can I block such behavior? Also I have next Web.config settings: <authorization> <allow roles="Admin,Manager,Client" /> <deny users="*" /> </authorization>
