• Visual Studio 2005 Build Order

  I have a Web Application. Sometimes I want to debug a console app that is within the solution. Why is it that when I right click on it and select debug, it builds every single webpage and libraries, which takes a while. When I look at build dependencies for the console app, it lists everything in the solution as the order and tells me to go to build order to change it. In build order, everything checks out... I only have checked the libraries that this console app needs. I also tried setting this console app as a start up project. Same thing... How do I get it so when I want to debug this console app, it only builds that and runs instead of building the entire solution before running?

• Using these 2 build options in Visual Studio

  When I debug a project and there is an error in my code (e.g. a method returns something and when I consume that method, I don't put the returned data into a variable) the popup asking me to run the last successful build comes up. How exactly do I configure this? Also, in what scenario does the Visual Studio build order come in handy? I once built a solution, and it couldn't build one project because a dependent project was not built beforehand. I guess this one possible scenario? Any others? Thanks

• XCode Project Code Changes Not Updating 100% After Save-Build-Run

  When I make code changes to my iPhone game project in XCode, and then do CMD-B + Enter, I expect the project to be saved, build and run on the simulator with the latest. What is happening though, sometimes, is that it doesn't pick up a small change I make unless I clean the project and then build. I'm a long time Java person and newish to C-based languages and it's compiler. Can someone explain to me what is cached after each build that does this and how to change my project settings to avoid having to clean everytime? Or tell me the bad news that this is part of C development? Not trying to bash it - I get compiled JSPs stuck in the working cache often in Java, too. :P

  I recently built a server with hypervm and xen, now i know xen from command line, but hypervm ties into our whmcs and so its a requirement, however my question is this, when i build a new o/s template my partition table is gone, and i know why, but i was wondering if anyone has built anything in hypervm for adding in partition tables, so i dont have to reinvent the wheel :). i can do it command line in the created vm with fdisk, and i have tracked down the creation scripts for hypervm but i am unsure if these insert directly into the machine as it looks like a lot of the things it does are externalized and are for xen to assign things like ip address etc.. oh and on an aside when i go in to modify the .cnf file to change the boot disk from cdrom to drive on windows when i boot using hypervm it overwrites my setting again..frustrating as heck, i've been trying to track down where in the code it does this, has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it if you did?

• Unable to open attachment in Windows Live Mail 2011 (Build 15.4.3502.0922)

  I use Windows Live Mail 2011 (Build 15.4.3502.0922), in Windows 7 Pro 64. When I receive an email message that has an attachment, when I double click to open this attachment, nothing happens. Any kind of attachment, nothing happens. If I right click and choose "Open", nothing happens either. If I right click and choose Save As, I can save the file to disk and open it via Windows Explorer. I would like to be able to double click to open the attachment. I tried to repair WLM but that didn't make any difference. My antivirus is Microsoft Security Essentials. Does anyone know anything about this issue? Thanks

I know the latest version is 5.xx... but apparently with some new software we're having installed we have to use version 4 After a bit of googling i can see that the latest version is... Build 4.1.10329.0 Released May 8, 2012 We have a mix of Win7 64-bit machines and WinXP 32-bit machines. Q: Is there a different version for each OS or the same one fits all. (This seems strangely hard to decipher by googling) Q: Does anyone know where i can download the latest version 4? Microsoft do not seem to offer it anymore unless i'm just not finding it. • How does the build quality of laptops compare?

  I'm looking to replace my 5 year old laptop. I want my next laptop to endure at least this long. I typically have Thunderbird, Firefox, Eclipse Java IDE, Skype, a ssh session, and Apache Tomcat running. I'm currently running Karmic Ubuntu, but am agnostic about operating system and would move to Win 7 or OS X. I frequently travel with this computer. I also value battery longevity and power conservation (if possible). Above all I'm looking to minimize cost. I think the hardware that best meets my needs is an Intel i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, 100GB @7200 rpm or SSD hardrive, and about 15 inch monitor. These specs are met by most brands. Does anyone know specific pros/cons and build quality for Macbook Pro, Lenovo Thinkpad (W510 or T510), Sony's VPC-F1190, and ASUS G Series G73JH-X1 NoteBook? Are all i7 processors created equal? Do you have other suggestion that meet my needs?

  I am on a Windows 7 box, and I have tortoisesvn on my machine. After getting a little familiar with svn and tortoisesvn on a code repository, I set up a local repository to manage revisions of some word and powerpoint documents. I want to figure out some scripted way to output a set of files with the build/revision number embedded in the filename. I will then email the files to some business people to review. For example, say I have a group of files in my working directory: PresentA.pptx PresentA-notes.docx PresentB.pptx and TortoiseSVN repo browser tells me that I am currently at revision 21 for PresentA.pptx and PresentA-notes.docx but at revision 25 for PresentB.pptx, I would like some way to get 3 files with the following names: PresentA-r21.pptx PresentA-notes-r21.docx PresentB-r25.pptx Alternatively, if revision 25 is the current value for the repository, having all the names appended with -r25 would work, too.

  I have a batch script that I use when I set up new Windows 7 PCs that creates a user based on a variable, creates a folder on their desktop, then shares it: @echo off SET /p unitnumber="Enter unit number: " net user unit%unitnumber% password /add /expire:never MD "C:/Users/unit%unitnumber%/Desktop/Accounting #%unitnumber%" runas /user:administrator "net share "Accounting#%unitnumber%"="C:/Users/unit%unitnumber%/Desktop/Accounting#%unitnumber"" I discovered that the share that is created is overwritten when the newly created user first logs on, because Windows creates builds their profile directory at that time. Is there any way to initiate a build of a user's profile directory in the batch file just after creating the it? The only thing that looks useful is the /homedir:pathname switch for the net user command, but I believe that option assumes the directory already exists. Other than that web research hasn't been fruitful. I'd be to use whatever to get this done as long as I can incorporate/launch it from the batch. Any suggestions?

  I tried to install mysql-connector-c recipe via homebrew, and it builds just fine, but produces x86_64 library: $file ~/brew/lib/libmysql.dylib .../brew/lib/libmysql.dylib: Mach-O 64-bit dynamically linked shared library x86_64 I however need i386 library for my project. I tried to give it CFLAGS and LDFLAGS like this: CFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64" LDFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64" brew install mysql-connector-c but nothing changes - it still builds x86_64 only binary. Is there any way to make homebrew build either dual arch library or i386 library? I have kernel architecture set to x86_64, if it matters.

• How to create an rpm without a build step

  I'm trying to create an rpm of some code which doesn't need to be built. It will just need to run a script when it's installed on the destination system (i.e. I just need the %install portion of the spec file). I've left both %build and %configure sections of my rpm spec file empty, yet rpmbuild continues to try and execute ./configure with a bunch of parameters. Does anyone know how I can have rpmbuild create the rpm without trying to run ./configure? Thanks.

  I'm trying to install PHP5, by compiling it myself. I'm doing this on Crunchbang Linux, version 11. Specifically, the version using the 3.2 kernel. Crunchbang 11 is based on Debian. This is a 64-bit Virtual machine, running on a 64-bit Win7 Professional. Using Virtualbox 4.2 This is my sources.list file: http://pastebin.com/rQJNwX7c When I try to do sudo apt-get build-dep php5, I get the following output: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list I'm not sure what's going on here.   Hello there, I'm using: - Flex SDK 3.5.0 - Parsley 2.2.2. - Flash Builder 4 Down in my src folder (which is configured as part of the source path in the Flash Builder), I have a logging.xml which I configure via Parsley: FlexLoggingXmlSupport.initialize(); XmlContextBuilder.build("com/company/product/util/log/logging.xml"); When I run my application through Flash Builder, the XmlContentBuilder seems to locate the logging.xml (the implementation is a regular URLLoader one). I could not find any argument to provide the MXMLC with that might solve this. I tried using the -dump-config option with the Flash Builder's compiler, then giving that configuration to MXMLC, but it didn't work either. I tried providing the XmlContentBuilder with an absolute path. That worked fine when I compiled with MXMLC via Ant, but still didn't work when I used MXMLC in the command-line... I'd be happy to be enlightened here, regarding all subjects - using MXMLC, accessing resources with relative paths, configuring logging in Parsley, etc. Many thanks in advance, Daniel

• MP3 player mpman TS300 not recognized

  I just received a mpman ts300 mp3 player for Christmas. But when I try to connect it to ubuntu (10.10) through usb it doesn't seem to be recognized. • fftw in Visual Studio?

  I'm trying to link my project with fftw and so far, I've gotten it to compile, but not link. As the site said, I generated all the .lib files (even though I'm only using double precision), and copied them to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\lib, the .h file to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\include and the .dll to C:\windows\system32. • CustomErrors section does not handle 404 properly on production server

  Hi, I'd like my ASP.NET MVC application to redirect failed requests to matching action methods of a certain controller. This works fine on my development machine running Windows 7, but not on my production machine running Windows 2008 R2. I set up my web.config as follows: <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="/Error/ServerError/500"> <error statusCode="403" redirect="/Error/AccessDenied" /> <error statusCode="404" redirect="/Error/FileNotFound" /> </customErrors> This customErrors section works fine on both of my machines (production and development) for 500 Internal Server errors. It also works fine for 404 errors on my development machine. However, it does not properly redirect 404 errors on the production machine. Instead of /Error/FileNotFound, I get the standard 404 page that comes with IIS 7. What could be the problem here?
