• WAN interface responds as LAN when request comes from LAN, is that correct?

  Hi Everyone! I have a problem with my router/modem. I've published an HTTP service from one of my internal computers and when I access the service from the internal lan using the external IP address the modem responds instead of redirecting the call to the forwarded port. I can access the service from outside however, but from the internal network the modem responds to my calls. I'm using a ZTE ZXDSL 831 Series modem with ZXDSL 831IIV7.5.1e_E09_BR1 firmware.   I have installed openSUSE 11.4 to my new workstation. It says that there is Attansic ETHERNET controller on board. But no devices seen. I typed: lspci and it returned: atheros communications device 1083. I have downloaded drivers. I'm trying to compile the driver. But I get the error: **Makefile:94: Linux kernel source not configured - missing autoconf.h. Stop** But I see autoconf.h presents on my system. What should I do ?

• Asus WL-520GU conflicting subnet (and/or IP) with 2Wire DSL

  I have an Asus wireless router: WL-520GU... and an AT&T 2Wire for my DSL connection. When I try to browse anywhere, I just get an odd message from the Asus router (in the common Asus broken-English, bad formatting, and awful spelling): http://postimage.org/image/upxrjflcj I guess it's trying to say: Your Asus Router and your 2Wire have the same subnet mask. (It doesn't say if that's good, or bad... but it sounds like they must be different.) but... But for the "solution" it looks like it's trying to say: Your Asus Router and your 2Wire have the same IP address. My Asus has the defaults: 192.168.1.1 and 255.255.255.0 My 2Wire has: 192.168.1.66 I'm not seeing where the conflict(s) could be. The Asus firmware is v3.0.0.14 . None of these problems occur with the old v3.0.0.8 firmware. Any ideas on how to fix this? (PLEASE don't say to run a totally different DD/Tomato firmware because it's "better". I need to fix THIS 1 problem, not try to convince my company to switch everything to an entirely different set of problems.)

• Windows 7 detects my 1 TB disk as a disk with only 31 MB space

  I've added another 1 TB Western Digital disk on my computer (there is a disk with 250 GB already), and after booting to Windows 7, it recognise the disk, but in the Disk Management panel, it says the disk has only 31 MB TOTAL space, so is what it shows in the EVEREST information. And when I rebooted the computer and entered BIOS, it said the new disk has 0 MB disk capacity. Is there any way to fix this problem?

  I’m unable to schedule a periodic launch with launchctl/launchd on OS X (Leopard). Basically, I’m unable to find a step-by-step list of instructions on the web and the intuitive approach doesn’t work. Manually executing the rsync command in the terminal yields the expected result. I’m fairly sure that the job was registered correctly because if I try to start a non-existing job, I get an error message (which I didn’t get in the above command). What did I do wrong?

• Windows 7: Touch gestures in IE not working without explorer.exe being run once

  Details: Internet Explorer 9 and Windows 7 Professional, running on a HP TouchSmart (touch screen PC). It is going to be a kiosk PC (running a custom GUI for displaying websites). Scenario 1: When running Internet Explorer as a normal program in Windows 7, touch functions work perfectly. I can scroll the website by dragging it with my finger, I can pinch zoom and I can touch-and-hold right click. I now change the default shell in Windows to Internet Explorer (ie. IE starts instead of explorer.exe). Internet Explorer of course starts up when logging in. However, touch functions are reduced to basic clicking (no dragging, no pinch zooming, no touch-and-hold right click). Then I manually start explorer.exe, and the touch functions work again! And here is the weird part: When I kill explorer.exe, the touch functions keeps working - even if I close IE and start a new instance. Scenario 2: The exact same, but instead of changing the default shell to Internet Explorer, I change it to my own program, which uses an embedded Internet Explorer ("WebBrowser"). Same thing happens. What I've tried: Autorun programs: When explorer.exe launches, it launches all the autorun programs. There are no relevant programs being run by explorer, but just in case, I have manually started all the autorun programs, so that it is identical (but without explorer.exe) to a normal login. It still does not work (until I launch explorer.exe). Specifically TabTip.exe, TabTip32.exe and wisptis.exe are all running. All services are also started. To sum it up Running explorer.exe once changes something in the touch capabilities of Internet Explorer. It doesn't matter if explorer.exe is running - as long as it has been run once. Does anyone know what causes this behavior? Or how I can circumvent it neatly? Thanks!

• PC hangs and reboots from time to time

  Hello, I have a very strange problem: Since I have my new PC, I have always had problems with it. From time to time the computer freezes for some seconds and suddendly reboots by itself. I've had this problem since Ubuntu 9.10. The same with 10.04 and 10.10. That's why I don't think it's a software failure because the problem persist too long. It doesn't have anything to do with what I'm doing at this time. Sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I only use Firefox, sometimes I'm running 2 or 3 VMs, sometimes I watch DVD. So it's not isolatable. I could freeze once a day or once a week. I put the PC to the vendor twice(!). The first time they changed my power supply but the problem persisted. The second time they told me that they made some heavy performance tests 50 hours long but they didn't find anything. (How can that be that I have daily freezes with normal usage). The vendor didn't check the hard discs because they used their own disc with Windows. (So they never checked the Linux installation). Yesterday I made some intensive hard disc scans with "SMART" but no errors were found. I ran memtest for 3 times but no errors found. I already had this problem in my old flat, so I doubt that I has something to do with current fluctuation. I already tried another electrical socket and changed to connector strip but the problem persists. At the moment I removed 2 of the RAMs (2x 2GB). In all I have 6GB, 2x2GB and 2x1GB. Could this difference maybe be a problem? Here is a list of my components. I hope that anybody find something I didn't think about yet.   I have a Linux dual boot setup with my Mac (with Leopard). When I open System Preferences Startup Disk I only see "Network Startup" and no HDD or BOOTCAMP as expected. So now, annoyingly, because "Network Startup" is the only option, it tries to start using the network (the flashing globe) for a short while rather than booting directly into Mac OS X. Is there a way to either fix Startup Disk or manually hack this?

I successfully added my Facebook account so I can see my facebook news on Trillian and works great. The problem is that I don't want to use the Facebook-chat, and if I disconnect the Facebook-chat the rest of the facebook stuff (news, events, groups, request) also disappears. I tried by setting the Facebook status to Away; and I'm not sure if someone can chat with me if I choose that; but anyway I still have the contacts list full of people I don't want. EDIT: Maybe I wasn't clear enough about the Facebook part. And that might be why some people fell this is off-topic. • Windows Explorer is blank

  I am using Windows 7 Utlimate x64. Once a week, or so, when I boot up n the morning and launch Windows Explorer it shows up blank, as the following screen shot show. Clicking on my Computer doesn't load anything. Interestingly, I can go the the Address bar at the top and type in a folder name. This brings up that folder's files and subfolders, but as I drill around the tree of folders on the left only shows the immediate folder and not its siblings. There's no plus icon to expand the folder, etc. My usual "solution" is to reboot, which typically brings everything back to normal, but this is a frustrating remedy. Any idea what's going on and how to fix it? Some Googling turned up this discussion, but the remedy was to uninstall a particular piece of software that I don't have installed (Virtual Clone Drive). • CPU Usage at 100% with "Hardware Interrupts"

  After turning on my desktop one day, I found that my CPU usage was maxed out at 100%, with 99% of that going to hardware "Interrupts". I tried to enable/disable all my devices one by one through the device manager, and found that I could get the CPU usage used by the Interrupts down to 50% by disabling all devices labelled "USB Host Controller" (except the ones for the mouse/keyboard). I found that I also got 10-20% more from disabling "High Definition Audio Controller".   After uninstalling an HP Vector Mouse driver, then rebooting, when Windows tries to auto log me in, i get an error message saying tyhe following: The User Profile Service failed the Login. User Profile cannot be loaded. Due to the fact that it is the only account on this PC, I cannot even go into another account. I rebooted the machine several times, before going into Safe Mode with Networking. For some reason, I cannot create a new account whilst in safe mode (I think it is to do with UAC, nothing with UAC is clickable). Thus, I am stuck. I cannot get into my account, nor can I create a new one to copy files over to. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Ryan EDIT: System Restore was, for some reason turned off.
