  • Ubuntu 10.10 screen goes nuts and unreadable

    Running Ubuntu 10.10 in its own partition, also have Oracle Virtualbox 4 with Windows XP. Because i previously had a problem with a dark screen when i let the laptop on and i didn't use it for a long while i had set Power settings to Never sleep, never let the Display sleep. Monitor on install set to Laptop resolution 1400 by 1050, refresh rate 60 Hz, rotation Normal. The problem was when the computer was left on and i returned after about an hour, the screen was unreadable, similar to what used to happen to graphics cards before multisync became normal. So it appears as though the graphics card was asked to use a resolution it couldn't handle and went nuts. I had to power off the system, on restart everything was fine. Thanks for any suggestions.   • Huge 2d pixelized world

    I would like to make a game field in a indie-strategic 2d game to be some a-like this popular picture. http://0.static.wix.com/media/6a83ae_cd307e45ffd9c6b145237263ac1a86be.jpg_1024 So every "pixel"(blocks) changes it's color slowly, sometimes a bright color wave happens, etc, but the spaces beetwen this pixels should stay dark (not to count shades, lightning and other 3rd party stuff going on). Units are going to be same "pixelized" and should position them-selfs according those blocks. I have some experience in game-developing, but this task seems not trivial for me. What approaches (shader, tons of sprites or code-render, i don't now) would you recommend me to follow? (I'm thinking of making this game using Unity Engine) Thanks everyone! :)

    I'm venturing into the dark world of portable development and I'm looking for a nice library to keep track of system time for all game events. So far I've turned to trust boost and found: This boost library But I'm wondering if it there are some alternatives. I use boost a lot and (while I like it) I find that it sometimes takes me longer to figure out how to use the generic code than to write my own...not-so-generic code. (Ya, ya...I know.   • Overlap problem with Android ListView selector

    I am trying to style my ListView with two 9-patch background images (16px * 9px), one dark image for default state and another green image for selected and pressed state. It works except for just one problem that when I select or press one list item, it seems that the selected item overlap the next one a little bit as I can see some pixels of the green background image is on the top of next item. How to fix that?

  • What is Jquery's alternative to Mootools MochaUI?

    MochaUI is very intuitive and the modal iframes almost perfectly replicate Windows. Unfortunately, I have scripts written in Jquery that I use, and I hear there are conflicts when putting both Mootools and Jquery on one html file (is this true?). How can I get the MochaUI features in Jquery? At the very least, is there a similar modal dialog system? I've seen JqueryUI Dialog but it makes the background go dark and nonfunctional, which is not what I am looking for.

I'm accustomed to using the ever famous Oren Ellenbogen's Dark Scheme featured on Scott Hanselman's blog, but the upgrade process has made it downright butt-ugly.   • Generate random coordinates from area outside of a rectangle?

    Hi all, I'm working on a simple tutorial, and I'd like to randomly generate the positions of the red and green boxes in the accompanying images anywhere inside the dark gray area, but not in the white area. Are there any particularly elegant algorithms to do this? There are some hackish ideas I have that are really simple (continue to generate while the coordinates are not outside the inside rectangle, etc.), but I was wondering if anyone had come up with some neat solutions.   • Can't remember the website for downloading common tools after reinstall

    I remember a while back finding a website for downloading lots of common tools in one go after a system reinstall. It had a dark background and checkboxes for selecting the tools (browsers, editors, readers, im clients, etc.). After selecting the tools it downloaded a file which went away, downloaded everything you'd selected and then performed an install on each of the different apps. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

  • How do you disable the Windows Phone 7 splash screen?

    Hi, Is there any way to disable the WP7 splash screen and just show a blank screen? My splash screen only stays on for less than half a second, leaving the user with a rather jarring sensation. I'd rather they not see any splash screen at all. I would have simply used a plain black image as my splash screen, but then that would result in an ugly experience for people using a light theme (since my app's background is white on light themes and black on dark themes) Thanks!

  • Removing input background colour for Chrome autocomplete?

    On a form I'm working on, Chrome is auto-filling the email and password fields. This is fine, however, Chrome changes the background colour to a pale yellow colour. The design I'm working on is using light text on a dark background, so this really messes up the look of the form - I have stark yellow boxes and near-invisible white text. Once the field is focused, the fields return to normal. Is it possible to stop Chrome changing the colour of these fields?

  • background-color:#070707; different in photoshop than in browser

    I'm coding a website with: background-color:#070707; That color should be a very dark gray, just the way I see it in photoshop. Now when I launch this in my browser (the background-color is set on the body using CSS, so it's not an exported image), the color is darker than in Photoshop. I know there can be differences when exporting images due to color profiling, but when setting the color code, how can this be different from photoshop? Thanks a lot for helping
