  • Servlet response wrapper has encoding problem

    - by John O
    A servlet response wrapper is being used in a Servlet Filter. The idea is that the response is manipulated, with a 'nonce' value being injected into forms, as part of defence against CSRF attacks. The web app is using UTF-8 everywhere. When the Servlet Filter is absent, no problems. When the filter is added, encoding issues occur. (It seems as if the response is reverting to 8859-1.) The guts of the code : final class CsrfResponseWrapper extends AbstractResponseWrapper { ... byte[] modifyResponse(byte[] aInputResponse){ ... String originalInput = new String(aInputResponse, encoding); String modifiedResult = addHiddenParamToPostedForms(originalInput); result = modifiedResult.getBytes(encoding); ... } ... } As I understand it, the transition between byte-land and String-land should specify an encoding. That is done here, as you can see, in two places. The value of the 'encoding' variable is 'UTF-8'; the alteration of the String itself is standard string manipulation (with a regex), and never specifies an encoding (addHiddenParamToPostedForms). Where am I in error about the encoding? EDIT: Here is the base class (sorry it's rather long): package hirondelle.web4j.security; import javax.servlet.ServletOutputStream; import javax.servlet.ServletResponse; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponseWrapper; import java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.PrintWriter; /** Abstract Base Class for altering response content. (May be useful in future contexts as well. For now, keep package-private.) */ abstract class AbstractResponseWrapper extends HttpServletResponseWrapper { AbstractResponseWrapper(ServletResponse aServletResponse) throws IOException { super((HttpServletResponse)aServletResponse); fOutputStream = new ModifiedOutputStream(aServletResponse.getOutputStream()); fWriter = new PrintWriter(fOutputStream); } /** Return the modified response. */ abstract byte[] modifyResponse(byte[] aInputResponse); /** Standard servlet method. */ public final ServletOutputStream getOutputStream() { //fLogger.fine("Modified Response : Getting output stream."); if ( fWriterReturned ) { throw new IllegalStateException(); } fOutputStreamReturned = true; return fOutputStream; } /** Standard servlet method. */ public final PrintWriter getWriter() { //fLogger.fine("Modified Response : Getting writer."); if ( fOutputStreamReturned ) { throw new IllegalStateException(); } fWriterReturned = true; return fWriter; } // PRIVATE /* Well-behaved servlets return either an OutputStream or a PrintWriter, but not both. */ private PrintWriter fWriter; private ModifiedOutputStream fOutputStream; /* These items are used to implement conformance to the javadoc for ServletResponse, regarding exceptions being thrown. */ private boolean fWriterReturned; private boolean fOutputStreamReturned; /** Modified low level output stream. */ private class ModifiedOutputStream extends ServletOutputStream { public ModifiedOutputStream(ServletOutputStream aOutputStream) { fServletOutputStream = aOutputStream; fBuffer = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); } /** Must be implemented to make this class concrete. */ public void write(int aByte) { fBuffer.write(aByte); } public void close() throws IOException { if ( !fIsClosed ){ processStream(); fServletOutputStream.close(); fIsClosed = true; } } public void flush() throws IOException { if ( fBuffer.size() != 0 ){ if ( !fIsClosed ) { processStream(); fBuffer = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); } } } /** Perform the core processing, by calling the abstract method. */ public void processStream() throws IOException { fServletOutputStream.write(modifyResponse(fBuffer.toByteArray())); fServletOutputStream.flush(); } // PRIVATE // private ServletOutputStream fServletOutputStream; private ByteArrayOutputStream fBuffer; /** Tracks if this stream has been closed. */ private boolean fIsClosed = false; } }

  • How to make Dajax callback into scoped object

    - by BozoJoe
    I cant seem to find a way to make django-dajaxice have its callback inside same scoped object from which made the initial call. MyViewport = Ext.extend(MyViewportUi, { initComponent: function() { MyViewport.superclass.initComponent.call(this); }, LoadRecordsCallback: function(data){ if(data!='DAJAXICE_EXCEPTION') { alert(data); } else { alert('DAJAXICE_EXCEPTION'); } }, LoadRecords: function(){ Dajaxice.Console.GetUserRecords(this.LoadRecordsCallback); } }); var blah = new MyViewport(); blah.LoadRecords(); I'm on django, and like the calling syntax to django-dajaxice. I'm using Extjs 3.2 and tried passing a Ext.createCallback but Dajax's returning eval seems to only want a string for the callback.

  • Error 1005 when adding a foreign key constraint on mysql table

    - by luc
    Hello, I have a problem when upgrading a django and mysql app with south. I've tried to make a sql-based upgrade with the code generated by the django sqlall command and I have a similar problem. Here is the sql code: CREATE TABLE `programmations_basissupport` ( `id` integer AUTO_INCREMENT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, `value` numeric(6, 0) NOT NULL ) ALTER TABLE `programmations_concert` ADD `basis_support_id` integer AFTER program_status_id; ALTER TABLE `programmations_concert` ADD CONSTRAINT `basis_support_id_refs_id_1e4ed8d7` FOREIGN KEY (`basis_support_id`) REFERENCES `programmations_basissupport` (`id`); An error is raised when adding the FK constraint: ERROR 1005 (HY000): Can't create table 'apidev_mnl.#sql-106e_632b00a' (errno: 150) Does anybody have an idea? Update: DEFAULT values where missing but even if I add the default='' in the django model, the creation of foreign keys fails. Thanks for your help

  • Aptana Studio is opening but not ever closing a python.exe process

    - by SC Ghost
    I am developing a small testing website using Django 1.2 in Aptana Studio build 2.0.4.1268158907. I have a Django project that I test by running the command "runserver 8001" on my project. This command runs the project on a small server that comes with Django. However the problem arises that every time I run this command Aptana opens two instances of the process "python.exe". Upon terminating the command only one of these instances is ended. The other process continues to run and use memory. My server is not online, and the process doesn't seem to do anything that I can find. This happens every time i run the runserver command on my project and therefore more and more python.exe instances will open up through my development period. Any help discovering either the purpose of this extra python.exe or a way to prevent it from opening would be much appreciated.

  • datagrid filter in c# using sql server

    - by malou17
    How to filter data in datagrid for example if u select the combo box in student number then input 1001 in the text field...all records in 1001 will appear in datagrid.....we are using sql server private void button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (cbofilter.SelectedIndex == 0) { string sql; SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(); conn.ConnectionString = "Server= " + Environment.MachineName.ToString() + @"\; Initial Catalog=TEST;Integrated Security = true"; SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(); DataSet ds1 = new DataSet(); ds1 = DBConn.getStudentDetails("sp_RetrieveSTUDNO"); sql = "Select * from Test where STUDNO like '" + txtvalue.Text + "'"; SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(sql, conn); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text; da.SelectCommand = cmd; da.Fill(ds1); dbgStudentDetails.DataSource = ds1; dbgStudentDetails.DataMember = ds1.Tables[0].TableName; dbgStudentDetails.Refresh(); } else if (cbofilter.SelectedIndex == 1) { //string sql; //SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(); //conn.ConnectionString = "Server= " + Environment.MachineName.ToString() + @"\; Initial Catalog=TEST;Integrated Security = true"; //SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(); //DataSet ds1 = new DataSet(); //ds1 = DBConn.getStudentDetails("sp_RetrieveSTUDNO"); //sql = "Select * from Test where Name like '" + txtvalue.Text + "'"; //SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(sql,conn); //cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text; //da.SelectCommand = cmd; //da.Fill(ds1); // dbgStudentDetails.DataSource = ds1; //dbgStudentDetails.DataMember = ds1.Tables[0].TableName; //ds.Tables[0].DefaultView.RowFilter = "Studno = + txtvalue.text + "; dbgStudentDetails.DataSource = ds.Tables[0]; dbgStudentDetails.Refresh(); } }

  • How to write a decent process filter?

    - by konr
    Hi there, I'm building a program that communicates with Emacs, and one of the challenges I'm facing is writing Emacs's process filter function. Its input string is a series of s-expressions to be evaluated. Here is a sample: (gimme-append-to-buffer "25 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Scene 2. Prelude - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "26 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Cybele: 'Je Veux Joindre' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "27 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Scene 3. Cybele: 'Tu T'Etonnes, Melisse' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "28 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Cybele: 'Que Les Plus Doux Zephyrs'. Scene 4. - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "29 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Entree Des Nations - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "30 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Entree Des Zephyrs - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "31 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Choeur Des Nations' 'Que Devant Vous' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "32 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Atys: 'Indigne Que Je Suis' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "33 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Reprise Du Choeur Des Nations : 'Que Devant Nous' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "34 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Flor*emphasized text*issants - Reprise De L'Air Des Zephyrs - Les Arts Florissants\n") The first problem that I've faced is that the string is somehow not fully formed when the function is so called, so writing something like (mapcar 'eval (format "(%s)" input-string)) won't work. To deal with this first problem, I was using a loop. The full function I wrote is: (defun eval-all-sexps (s) (loop for x = (ignore-errors (read-from-string s)) then (ignore-errors (read-from-string (substring s position))) while x summing (or (cdr x) 0) into position doing (eval (car x)))) Now the second problem that showed up is that the function is called twice with a somewhat large input, first with valid but partial content, then with what looks like pieces of the remaining data. To solve this problem, I'm considering using a junk variable to hold up what remains from a loop and then concatenating it to the input of the next call, but I was wondering if you guys have any other suggestions on how to deal with such a problem more elegantly. Thanks!

  • ASP.NET Emails blocked by Spam filter on Exchange

    - by Amadiere
    I'm trying to send an email via some C# ASP.NET code. This is being sent to our internal mailrelay server, with our standard "from" address (e.g. [email protected]). In some instances, this is getting through OK, in others, it's getting blocked by the Spam Filter. An example of our Web.config <mailSettings> <smtp from="[email protected]"> <network host="mailrelay.domain.com" defaultCredentials="true" /> </smtp> </mailSettings> I've spoken with our Exchange Server team and they inform me that on occasions, our mail looks sufficiently like spam and is automatically blocked. The algorithm appears to be points based and blocks on a score of 45. 20 points are instantly added because our system is not sending the hostname with the domain name suffixed. e.g. the server is hoping for myServerName.domain.com, but despite being part of that domain, the server is sending from myServerName. I've been asked to look at altering the EHLO string that is sent and/or influencing the host so that it is its fully qualified name. However, this makes little sense to me, and although I understand the concept of what I need to change - I don't know where to begin looking for the fix.

  • Filter entities that match all pairs

    - by Jon
    I have an entity (let's say Person) with a set of arbitrary attributes with a known subset of values. I need to search for all of these entities that match all my filter conditions. For example, my table structures look like this: Person: id | name 1 | John Doe 2 | Jane Roe 3 | John Smith Attribute: id | attr_name 1 | Sex 2 | Eye Color ValidValue: id | attr_id | value_name 1 | 1 | Male 2 | 1 | Female 3 | 2 | Blue 4 | 2 | Green 5 | 2 | Brown PersonAttributes id | person_id | attr_id | value_id 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 2 | 1 | 2 | 3 3 | 2 | 1 | 2 4 | 2 | 2 | 4 5 | 3 | 1 | 1 6 | 3 | 2 | 4 In JPA, I have entities built for all of these tables. What I'd like to do is perform a search for all entities matching a given set of attribute-value pairs. For instance, I'd like to be able to find all males (John Doe and John Smith), all people with green eyes (Jane Roe or John Smith), or all females with green eyes (Jane Roe). I see that I can already take advantage of the fact that I only really need to match on value_id, since that's already unique and tied to the attr_id. But where can I go from there?

  • How does MSN filter spam?

    - by Marius
    I am trying to create a newsletter for our business. The last few days have been spent testing, and one of things I have noticed is that MSN seemingly randomly filters out some of my test messages. This is super-frustrating. I like the PEAR Mail MIME-package, and have been using that. I may send one email from one of our servers, resulting in the message getting through, and in the next minute, the same message sent from our other server ends up in the junk folder. Then if I add an attachment to the email, and the same message passes though the filter from the server that was previously blocked. I think. What the ####? Is this like throwing a dice, without me having any control over what is trash, and what isn't? I have sent email from several servers, all of which are shared. But I am unsure this is the problem. The problem is that it is seemingly random how MSN filters email. Some emails get through, and some other don't for seemingly irrational reasons. I am running out of ideas, but I am not giving up. Therefore I am writing to you for HARDCORE technical info on how MSN filters spam.

  • Filter a date property between a begin and end Dates with JDOQL

    - by Sergio del Amo
    I want to code a function to get a list of Entry objects whose date field is between a beginPeriod and endPeriod I post below a code snippet which works with a HACK. I have to substract a day from the begin period date. It seems the condition great or equal does not work. Any idea why I have this issue? public static List<Entry> getEntries(Date beginPeriod, Date endPeriod) { /* TODO * The great or equal condition does not seem to work in the filter below * Substract a day and it seems to work */ Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance(); calendar.set(beginPeriod.getYear(), beginPeriod.getMonth(), beginPeriod.getDate() - 1); beginPeriod = calendar.getTime(); PersistenceManager pm = JdoUtil.getPm(); Query q = pm.newQuery(Entry.class); q.setFilter("this.date >= beginPeriodParam && this.date <= endPeriodParam"); q.declareParameters("java.util.Date beginPeriodParam, java.util.Date endPeriodParam"); List<Entry> entries = (List<Entry>) q.execute(beginPeriod,endPeriod); return entries; }

  • WPF, C# - Making Intellisense/Autocomplete list, fastest way to filter list of strings

    - by user559548
    Hello everyone, I'm writing an Intellisense/Autocomplete like the one you find in Visual Studio. It's all fine up until when the list contains probably 2000+ items. I'm using a simple LINQ statement for doing the filtering: var filterCollection = from s in listCollection where s.FilterValue.IndexOf(currentWord, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase) >= 0 orderby s.FilterValue select s; I then assign this collection to a WPF Listbox's ItemSource, and that's the end of it, works fine. Noting that, the Listbox is also virtualised as well, so there will only be at most 7-8 visual elements in memory and in the visual tree. However the caveat right now is that, when the user types extremely fast in the richtextbox, and on every key up I execute the filtering + binding, there's this semi-race condition, or out of sync filtering, like the first key stroke's filtering could still be doing it's filtering or binding work, while the fourth key stroke is also doing the same. I know I could put in a delay before applying the filter, but I'm trying to achieve a seamless filtering much like the one in Visual Studio. I'm not sure where my problem exactly lies, so I'm also attributing it to IndexOf's string operation, or perhaps my list of string's could be optimised in some kind of index, that could speed up searching. Any suggestions of code samples are much welcomed. Thanks.

  • Match entities fulfilling filter (strict superset of search)

    - by Jon
    I have an entity (let's say Person) with a set of arbitrary attributes with a known subset of values. I need to search for all of these entities that match all my filter conditions. That is, given a set of Attributes A, I need to find all people that have a set of Attributes that are a superset of A. I've been trying to do something like the following, given that the ValidValue is unique in all cases: select distinct p from Person p join p.personAttributes a where a.value IN (:values) Then I've tried putting my set of required values in as "values", but that gives me errors no matter how I try to structure that. I also have to get a little more complicated, as follows, but at this point I'd be happy with solving the first problem cleanly. However, if it's possible, the Attribute table actually has a field for default value: id | attr_name | default_value 1 | Sex | 1 2 | Eye Color | 5 If the value you're searching on happens to be the default value, I want it to return any people that have no explicit value set for that attribute, because in the application logic, that means they inherit the default value. Again, I'm more concerned about the primary question, but if someone who can help with that also has some idea of how to do this one, I'd be extremely grateful.

  • how do i filter my lucene search results?

    - by Andrew Bullock
    Say my requirement is "search for all users by name, who are over 18" If i were using SQL, i might write something like: Select * from [Users] Where ([firstname] like '%' + @searchTerm + '%' OR [lastname] like '%' + @searchTerm + '%') AND [age] >= 18 However, im having difficulty translating this into lucene.net. This is what i have so far: var parser = new MultiFieldQueryParser({ "firstname", "lastname"}, new StandardAnalyser()); var luceneQuery = parser.Parse(searchterm) var query = FullTextSession.CreateFullTextQuery(luceneQuery, typeof(User)); var results = query.List<User>(); How do i add in the "where age = 18" bit? I've heard about .SetFilter(), but this only accepts LuceneQueries, and not IQueries. If SetFilter is the right thing to use, how do I make the appropriate filter? If not, what do I use and how do i do it? Thanks! P.S. This is a vastly simplified version of what I'm trying to do for clarity, my WHERE clause is actually a lot more complicated than shown here. In reality i need to check if ids exist in subqueries and check a number of unindexed properties. Any solutions given need to support this. Thanks

  • Poor execution plans when using a filter and CONTAINSTABLE in a query

    - by Paul McLoughlin
    We have an interesting problem that I was hoping someone could help to shed some light on. At a high level the problem is as below: The following query executes quickly (1 second): SELECT SA.* FROM cg.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS AS SA JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(CG.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS, NOTE, 'reports') AS T1 ON T1.[Key]=SA.UNIQUE_ID but if we add a filter to the query, then it takes approximately 2 minutes to return: SELECT SA.* FROM cg.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS AS SA JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(CG.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS, NOTE, 'reports') AS T1 ON T1.[Key]=SA.UNIQUE_ID WHERE SA.CHG_DATE'19 Feb 2010' Looking at the execution plan for the two queries, I can see that in the second case there are two places where there are huge differences between the actual and estimated number of rows, these being: 1) For the FulltextMatch table valued function where the estimate is approx 22,000 rows and the actual is 29 million rows (which are then filtered down to 1670 rows before the join) and 2) For the index seek on the full text index, where the estimate is 1 row and the actual is 13,000 rows As a result of the estimates, the optimiser is choosing to use a nested loops join (since it assumes a small number of rows) hence the plan is inefficient. We can work around the problem by either (a) parameterising the query and adding an OPTION (OPTIMIZE FOR UNKNOWN) to the query or (b) by forcing a HASH JOIN to be used. In both of these cases the query returns in sub 1 second and the estimates appear reasonable. My question really is 'why are the estimates being used in the poorly performing case so wildly inaccurate and what can be done to improve them'? Statistics are up to date on the indexes on the indexed view being used here. Any help greatly appreciated.

  • How do you implement a good profanity filter?

    - by Ben Throop
    Many of us need to deal with user input, search queries, and situations where the input text can potentially contain profanity or undesirable language. Oftentimes this needs to be filtered out. Where can one find a good list of swear words in various languages and dialects? Are there APIs available to sources that contain good lists? Or maybe an API that simply says "yes this is clean" or "no this is dirty" with some parameters? What are some good methods for catching folks trying to trick the system, like a$$, azz, or a55? Bonus points if you offer solutions for PHP. :) Edit: Response to answers that say simply avoid the programmatic issue: I think there is a place for this kind of filter when, for instance, a user can use public image search to find pictures that get added to a sensitive community pool. If they can search for "penis", then they will likely get many pictures of, yep. If we don't want pictures of that, then preventing the word as a search term is a good gatekeeper, though admittedly not a foolproof method. Getting the list of words in the first place is the real question. So I'm really referring to a way to figure out of a single token is dirty or not and then simply disallow it. I'd not bother preventing a sentiment like the totally hilarious "long necked giraffe" reference. Nothing you can do there. :)

  • Using git filter-branch to remove commits by their commit message

    - by machineghost
    In our repository we have a convention where every commit message starts with a certain pattern: Redmine #555: SOME_MESSAGE We also do a bit of rebasing to bring in the potential release branch's changes to a specific issue's branch. In other words, I might have branch "foo-555", but before I merge it in to branch "pre-release" I need to get any commits that pre-release has that foo-555 doesn't (so that foo-555 can fast-forward merge in to pre-release). However, because pre-release sometimes changes, we sometimes wind up with situations where you bring in a commit from pre-release, but then that commit later gets removed from pre-release. It's easy to identify commits that came from pre-release, because the number from their commit message won't match the branch number; for instance, if I see "Redmine #123: ..." in my foo-555 branch, I know that its not a commit from my branch. So now the question: I'd like to remove all of the commits that "don't belong" to a branch; in other words, any commit that: Is in my foo-555 branch, but not in the pre-release branch (pre-release..foo-555) Has a commit message that doesn't start with "Redmine #555" but of course "555" will vary from branch to branch. Is there any way to use filter-branch (or any other tool) to accomplish this? Currently the only way I can see to do it is to do go an interactive rebase ("git rebase -i") and manually remove all the "bad" commits.

  • Filter large amounts of data in a table w/ jQuery

    - by Bry4n
    I work for a transit agency and I have large amounts of data (mostly times), and I need a way to filter the data using two textboxes (To and From). I found jQuery quick search, but it seems to only work with one textbox. If anyone has any ideas via jQuery or some other client side library, that would be fantastic. Ideal example: To: [Textbox] From:[Textbox] <table> <tr> <td>69th street</td><td>5:00pm</td><td>5:06pm</td><td>5:10pm</td><td>5:20pm</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Millbourne</td><td>5:09pm</td><td>5:15pm</td><td>5:20pm</td><td>5:25pm</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Spring Garden</td><td>6:00pm</td><td>6:15pm</td><td>6:20pm</td><td>6:25pm</td> </tr> </table> So If I start typing in one of the stations in the To: textbox it either displays dynamically like the quick search or i have to press a button (either or) and then in the from: textbox. Lastly it shows me to: station and all its times on the left and the from: station and all its times on the right.

  • Filter Date using Date Picker in Yii

    - by era
    I have generated my crud screens using gii.. I have a search form, where i have put a date picker, where i give the user to select the date he wants. But the problem is that i have the date stored in seconds in the database. and i know that i can convert the date using strtotime. But then how do i filter using the search method in my model? this is my date picker <?php $this->widget('zii.widgets.jui.CJuiDatePicker', array( 'name'=>'ordering_date', 'id'=>'ordering_date', // additional javascript options for the date picker plugin 'options'=>array( 'showAnim'=>'fold', ), 'htmlOptions'=>array( 'style'=>'height:20px;' ), )); ?> and this is my search method in my model. I want to compare the ordering_date public function search() { // Warning: Please modify the following code to remove attributes that // should not be searched. //echo $this->ordering_date; $criteria=new CDbCriteria; $criteria->compare('order_id',$this->order_id); $criteria->compare('customer_id',$this->customer_id); $criteria->compare('delivery_address_id',$this->delivery_address_id); $criteria->compare('billing_address_id',$this->billing_address_id); $criteria->compare('ordering_date',$this->ordering_date); $criteria->compare('ordering_done',$this->ordering_done,true); $criteria->compare('ordering_confirmed',$this->ordering_confirmed); $criteria->compare('payment_method',$this->payment_method); $criteria->compare('shipping_method',$this->shipping_method); $criteria->compare('comment',$this->comment,true); $criteria->compare('status',$this->status,true); $criteria->compare('total_price',$this->total_price); return new CActiveDataProvider($this, array( 'criteria'=>$criteria, )); }

  • How to filter List<T> with LINQ and Reflection

    - by Ehsan Sajjad
    i am getting properties via reflection and i was doing like this to iterate on the list. private void HandleListProperty(object oldObject, object newObject, string difference, PropertyInfo prop) { var oldList = prop.GetValue(oldObject, null) as IList; var newList = prop.GetValue(newObject, null) as IList; if (prop.PropertyType == typeof(List<DataModel.ScheduleDetail>)) { List<DataModel.ScheduleDetail> ScheduleDetailsOld = oldList as List<DataModel.ScheduleDetail>; List<DataModel.ScheduleDetail> ScheduleDetailsNew = newList as List<DataModel.ScheduleDetail>; var groupOldSchedules = ScheduleDetailsOld .GroupBy(x => x.HomeHelpID) .SelectMany(s => s.DistinctBy(d => d.HomeHelpID) .Select(h => new { h.HomeHelpID, h.HomeHelpName })); } } Now i am making it generic because there will be coming different types of Lists and i don't want to put if conditions this way i want to write generic code to handle any type of list. I came up with this way: private void HandleListProperty(object oldObject, object newObject, string difference, PropertyInfo prop) { var oldList = prop.GetValue(oldObject, null) as IList; var newList = prop.GetValue(newObject, null) as IList; var ListType = prop.PropertyType; var MyListInstance = Activator.CreateInstance(ListType); MyListInstance = oldList; } i am able to get the items in MyListInstance but as the type will come at runtime i am not getting how to write linq query to filter them, any ideah how to do.

  • Value is zero after filter SQL in C#

    - by Chuki2
    I`m new in C#.. I have write function to filter department. And this function will return idDepartment. New problem is, department keep value "System.Windows.Forms.Label, Text : ADMIN ", that`s why i got zero. So how can i take "ADMIN" only and keep to department? Update : public partial class frmEditStaff : Form { private string connString; private string userId, department; //Department parameter coming from here private string conString = "Datasource"; public frmEditStaff(string strUserID, string strPosition) { InitializeComponent(); //Pass value from frmListStaff to userID text box tbStaffId.Text = strUserID.ToString(); userId = strUserID.ToString(); department = strPosition.ToString(); } This code below is working, don`t have any problem. public int lookUpDepart() { int idDepart=0; using (SqlConnection openCon = new SqlConnection(conString)) { string lookUpDepartmenId = "SELECT idDepartment FROM tbl_department WHERE department = '" + department + "';"; openCon.Open(); using (SqlCommand querylookUpDepartmenId = new SqlCommand(lookUpDepartmenId, openCon)) { SqlDataReader read = querylookUpDepartmenId.ExecuteReader(); while (read.Read()) { idDepart = int.Parse(read[0].ToString()); break; } } openCon.Close(); return idDepart; } } Thanks for help. Happy nice day!

  • How to layer if statements when order of logic is irrelevant?

    - by jimmyjimmy
    Basically I have a series of logic in my website that can lead to 5 total outcomes. Basically two different if tests and then a catch all else statement. For example: if cond1: if mod1: #do things elif mod2: #do things elif cond2: if mod1: #do things elif mod2 #do things else: #do things I was thinking about rewriting it like this: if cond1 and mod1: #do things elif cond1 and mod2: #do things elif cond2 and mod1: #do things elif cond2 and mod2: #do things else: #do things Is there any real difference in these two coding options/a better choice for this kind of logic testing?

  • How do I install OSQA with limited access to the server?

    - by Noir
    I would very much like to install OSQA on my host (provided/owned by my friend), but I can not make heads or tails of how I would go about doing it; a lot of the dependancies and such can't be installed with the current level of access (or most probably just knowledge) that I have. I can provide any further information required, and attempt to contact (friend) to see if he can do any of it for me, but I'm unsure as to how often I will be able to contact him. exec and shell_exec are not disabled on the server. If there are any other alternatives that I could use, please let me know! I tried Qwench but that was pretty buggy. I can usually deal with these kind of things, but this is my first foray into Python stuff!
