    Hi I am trying to add a filter to a controller that is based on a certain role (using role_requirement) and then on the company_id that each user has. So basically I need something like this: require_role "company" ** This is working fine before_filter :company_required def company_required unless current_user.company_id == Company.find(params[:id]) end end The error I am receiving undefined method `company_id' for nil:NilClass I would appreciate any guidance. I have the following for both: class Event(models.Model): ... timestamp = models.DateTimeField() organization_map = models.ManyToManyField(Organization) class User(AuthUser): ... subscribed_orgs = models.ManyToManyField('Organization') I want to find all events that were created in a certain timeframe and find the users who are subscribed to those organizations. I know how to write SQL for this (it's very easy), but whats the pythonic way of doing this using Django ORM? I'm trying as per below: orgs = Organization.objects.all() events = Event.objects.filter(timestamp__gt=min_time) # Min time is the time I want to start from events = events.filter(organization_map__in=orgs) But from there, how do I map to users who have that organization as a subscription?   • Non blocking IO call from Django controller from a Windows service

    Hi all, I have a CherryPy server with a Django application running as a Windows service, inside a controller I need to make a call to wmic, the problem is, so far I have only been able to implement a blocking operation. Does anyone have any recommendation for a non blocking operation so, at least more then one person at a time can access this controller and extract information from wmic? Thanks in advance, Anders

    Hi folks, I'm currently using os.popen() but have been recommended to use subprocess.popen() instead. Any ideas on how I can integrate this? It would be cool and fun to have a Python shell accessible on a Django app. But I reckon that it might be a bit complex to implement. I guess I would have to retrieve the subprocess, as a new request comes in. Any ideas?

I also see the call to the InternalConverter.Convert method, which sees the expected parameters (I see the collection provided by the nested {Binding}) and is successfully able to retrieve the ICollectionView for the incoming collection. The only problem is that FilterInternal never gets called. The template is ultimately being used by a TreeView, if that's relevant. I haven't been able to figure out why the FilterInternal method is not being called and I was hoping somebody might be able to offer some insight.

Basically it's free as long as you remain below a certain limit of bandwidth, disk storage etc. Since going over the limits can quickly become quite expensive (for a hobbyist) I would like some recommendations or suggestions about which AMI's I can run on the free tier, for the purpose of trying out Ruby on Rails and/or Django.

  • Where can I find a good, tab-less privacy filter for my monitor?

    Hi, I have an ASUS laptop with a 14" monitor (12" by 7" to be more specific), and I've been looking for a decent privacy filter that I can use with for, yet I couldn't find any. The problem with the filters I've found is that they all use those ugly "tabs" that you have to stick on the sides of your monitor in order to slip the filter in. I'm looking for ones that are like HP privacy filter, where parts of it goes under the frame of the monitor to hold it in place. Too bad HP doesn't sell filters that fit my screen. So, any idea where I can get a good privacy filter? Your help is so much appreciated

  • How to create a WHM/cPanel account, without creating a new sub-domain?

    I have a basic VPS (full root access), with WHM/cPanel, and am learning the ropes. I'm trying to create a new account for an existing domain (mysite.com), and so far WHM won't let me - it either wants a sub-domain or fake domain, but won't allow two accounts for one domain. In the beginning, there was only the root account, and it wouldn't let me login to cPanel - a quick chat with tech support, and I am informed that I need to create a second account, which I did. So now I have an account, call it ns1me, for domain mysite.com. Now I want to create a django account. I go through the same process, but WHM won't allow me to use mysite.com as the domain for django. The docs recommend a sub-domain, so I fill the box in with django.mysite.com. I then realize that has actually created a sub-domain - going to django.mysite.com shows me its home directory, along with helpful information about what version of Apache, Python, and other mods its running (thanks, Apache). I really don't want a sub-domain, so that's out. Another chat with tech support, and they recommend a fake domain name, as it won't create anything. Sure enough, using a domain of djangomysite.com works, and WHM allows me to create a django account. But of course, I can't send email to [email protected] (where I could to [email protected]). What I want, is to be able to create a second account, associated with mysite.com (so I can run cPanel logged in as django, send email to [email protected], etc) - without creating a whole new sub-domain, or fake domain.

  • Symfony dynamic subdomains

    Hi all, I'm trying to match subdomains to a customer id in symfony. i.e. i have customer1.example.com and customer2.example.com Domains are stored in a table. When a user goes to customer1.example.com, I would like to get the subdomain, look up the domain name in the database, once matched, it will then deploy the app config for that customer and then store the customer_Id in a global attribute so i know exactly which customer I'm dealing with througout the whole application. The virtual host will have the relevant wildcard servername. Have you managed to achieve this, and if so, how? If not, any ideas would be a great help! I'm thinking about using a filter to do it. :-)

    We're letting users search a database from a single text input and I'm having difficulties in filtering some user supplied strings. For example, if the user submits: ????????? lcd SONY (Note the ?'s) I need to cancel the search. I include the base64 encoded version of the above string wrapped up so that its easy run: print(base64_decode("1MfLxc/RwdPHIGxjZCBTT05Z")); I've ignored such inputs before but now (am not sure why) just realised the mysql database query is taking nearly forever to execute so this is now on high priority. Another example to highlight that we are using utf-8 and mb_detect_encoding is not helping much: print(base64_decode("zqDOm8+Fzr3PhM63z4HOuc6/IM+Bzr/Phc+HzyU=")); ????t???? ?????% So: how can I detect/filter these inputs? how is this input being generated?

    Hello, I have the following code in my C# program: OpenFileDialog fDialog = new OpenFileDialog(); fDialog.Title = "Open a file"; fDialog.Filter = "NCF files (*.ncf)|*.ncf|All files (*.*)|*.*|No Extensions (*.)|*."; I want to be able to have the user pick from the following: .NCF (files with .NCF extension only) *.* (all files) and files that have no extensions such as: readme (with no .txt) I know *.* will do this, but it also displays the .NCF, .TXT, and all other files in the same directory. I just want to be able to display filenames that have no extensions. Filtering with *. does not do the trick. Is there a way I can do this with C#? Thanks.

    Hi, A bloom filter uses a hash function (or many) to generate a value between 0 and m given an input string X. My question is how to you use a hash function to generate a value in this way, for example an MD5 hash is typically represented by a 32 length hex string, how would I use an MD5 hashing algorithm to generate a value between 0 and m where I can specify m? I'm using Java at the moment so an example of to do this with the MessageDigest functionality it offers would be great, though just a generic description of how to do about it would be fine too.
