    Is there a filter which I could use to rate-limit a pipe on linux? If this exists, let call it rate-limit, I want to be able to type in a terminal something like cat /dev/urandom | rate-limit 3 -k | foo in order to send a a stream of random bytes to foo's standard input at a rate (lower than) 3 kbytes/s.

    Hi everybody I am developing an application to process geophysical signals; Right now I have done everything in octave and its digital signal processing toolbox, speed is not bad, however the application specifications say I need to port to the final algorithm to C; I am doing lots of filtering, re-sampling and signal manipulation/characterization with FFTs and cepstrums. do you know a good free C library for DSP packaged with filter design, resampling, fft, etc?     Hey all, Has anyone worked with the LiveUpdate function (may be a bit of a misnomer) found on this page? It's not really a live search/update function, but a quick filtering mechanism for a pre-existing list, based on the pattern you enter in a text field. And a text field with say, qs as ID. I tried binding the function in the following manner: $( '#qs' ).liveUpdate( '#members' ); But when I do this, the function is called only ONCE when the page is loaded (I put in some console.logs in the function) but never after when text is keyed into the text field. I also tried calling the routine from the keyup() function of qs. $( '#qs' ).keyup( function() { $( this ).liveUpdate( '#members' ); }); This ends up going into infinite loops (almost) and halting with "Too much recursion" errors. So can anyone please shed some light on how I am supposed to actually implement this function? Also while you are at it, can someone kindly explain this line to me: var score = this.score(term); What I want to know is where this member method score() is coming from? I didn't find any such method built into JS or jQuery. Thanks for all the help, m^e

    Can someone explain the difference between apache mod_wsgi in daemon mode and django fastcgi in threaded mode. They both use threads for concurrency I think. Supposing that I'm using nginx as front end to apache mod_wsgi. UPDATE: I'm comparing django built in fastcgi(./manage.py method=threaded maxchildren=15) and mod_wsgi in 'daemon' mode(WSGIDaemonProcess example threads=15). They both use threads and acquire GIL, am I right?

  • Controlling Solr score/sort

    I want to filter a property within a range, but items that does not have the property should come last in the result. My solution was to set it to -1 if the property was not set. +(property:[10000000001 TO 10000000019] property:"-1"^0.5) This doesn't work, since every document with property:-1 get a very high score, for some reason. Is there a way to reliably control the sorting here? Boosting the range instead would mean I must boost every other term, which I'd rather not do.

    One can use matchedset.find(selector) / matchedset.parents(selector) to get the descendants/ancestors of the current matched set filtered by a sealector, but that doesn't include the matched set itself (if it happens to match the selector too). Is there a better (more consise and/or faster) way to get it than matchedset.find(selector).add(matchedset.filter(selector)) and the respective for parents() ?

  • Default tablespace for indexes in postgres

    Just wondering if its possible to set a default tablespace in postgres to keep indexes. Would like the databases to live on the default tablespace for postgres, however, would like to get the indexes on a different set of disks just to keep the i/o traffic separated. It does not appear to me that it can be done without going in and doing an ALTER index TABLESPACE command, and then the index is moved and will stay there, but the databases and indexes are part of a django app, so non-django intervention can cause some problems.
