  • Interface Builder Does Not Recognize Toolbar Buttons

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I created 4 UIButton's that are Custom and Plain in IB. I added a background image to them and then placed them onto my UIToolbar. I created IBActions and hooked up all of the buttons I did not create @property for the buttons, but 3/4 of them appear on my toolbar and they work. Why isnt my 4th button appearing? If I need to declare an @property for them, will it be a UIToolbarButtonItem or a UIButton?

  • Switching textstorage of NSTextViews back and forth

    - by Jakob Dam Jensen
    I'm trying to make a feature in a product which gives the user the ability to split a textview into two. The way this is done is by removing the textview from it's superview, making a NSSplitView and adding the textview as well as a new NSTextView instance to this splitview. Lastly I make these two textviews share the same textstorage in order to make them share the same content. It works great. But the problem is when I want to make one of the two textviews change textstorage. The replaceTextStorage method in NSLayoutManager causes both NSTextView to change textStorage. The API documentation states: replaceTextStorage: All NSLayoutManager objects sharing the original NSTextStorage object then share the new one. This method makes all the adjustments necessary to keep these relationships intact, unlike setTextStorage:. So it makes sense that it would do this. But the question is how do I make it possible to have two (or more) textviews first share the same storage and after that having them using their own? I've tried replacing the layoutManager and even making new instances of NSTextViews but no luck... Any suggestions?

  • Profile Image Update Twitter API

    - by jshollax
    I am trying to upload a profile image to twitter using their API. I found some good examples on the web on how to format the URLRequest, however I just can't seem to get this to work. Any help would be appreciated. The URL that I am using from Twitter API is http://twitter.com/account/update_profile_image.json -(void)uploadImageForAccount:(NSURL *)theURL intUserName:(NSString *)_userName initPassWord:(NSString *)_passWord image:(NSData *)image{ userName = [_userName retain]; passWord = [_passWord retain]; UIApplication *app = [UIApplication sharedApplication]; app.networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; requestedData = [[NSMutableData alloc] initWithLength:0]; NSMutableURLRequest *theRequest = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:theURL cachePolicy:NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringLocalCacheData timeoutInterval:60]; [theRequest setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; NSString *stringBoundary = [NSString stringWithString:@"0xKhTmLbOuNdArY"]; NSString *contentType = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"multipart/form-data; boundary=%@", stringBoundary]; [theRequest addValue:contentType forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; // Credentials NSString *creds = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@:%@", userName, passWord]; [theRequest addValue:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Basic %@",[self base64encode:creds]] forHTTPHeaderField:@"Authorization"]; NSMutableData *postBody = [NSMutableData data]; [postBody appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"\r\n\r\n--%@\r\n", stringBoundary] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [postBody appendData:[[NSString stringWithString:@"Content-Disposition: form-data; name=\"source\"\r\n\r\n"] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [postBody appendData:[[NSString stringWithString:@"canary"] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; NSString *mimeType = mimeType = @"image/jpeg"; [postBody appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"\r\n--%@\r\n",stringBoundary] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [postBody appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Content-Disposition: form-data; name=\"media\"; filename=\"%@\"\r\n", @"TNImage.jpeg"] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [postBody appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Content-Type: %@\r\n", mimeType] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [postBody appendData:[[NSString stringWithString:@"Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary\r\n\r\n"] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [postBody appendData:image]; [postBody appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"\r\n--%@\r\n",stringBoundary] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [theRequest setHTTPBody:postBody]; NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self startImmediately:YES]; if(DEBUG) NSLog(@"Connection = %@",[connection description]); if (connection == nil) { if(DEBUG) NSLog(@"Connection was Nil"); } }

  • My cocoa app won't capture key events

    - by Oscar
    Hi, i usually develop for iPhone. But now trying to make a pong game in Cocoa desktop application. Working out pretty well, but i can't find a way to capture key events. Here's my code: #import "PongAppDelegate.h" #define GameStateRunning 1 #define GameStatePause 2 #define BallSpeedX 10 #define BallSpeedY 15 @implementation PongAppDelegate @synthesize window, leftPaddle, rightPaddle, ball; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(NSNotification *)aNotification { gameState = GameStateRunning; ballVelocity = CGPointMake(BallSpeedX, BallSpeedY); [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.05 target:self selector:@selector(gameLoop) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; } - (void)gameLoop { if(gameState == GameStateRunning) { [ball setFrameOrigin:CGPointMake(ball.frame.origin.x + ballVelocity.x, ball.frame.origin.y + ballVelocity.y)]; if(ball.frame.origin.x + 15 > window.frame.size.width || ball.frame.origin.x < 0) { ballVelocity.x =- ballVelocity.x; } if(ball.frame.origin.y + 35 > window.frame.size.height || ball.frame.origin.y < 0) { ballVelocity.y =- ballVelocity.y; } } } - (void)keyDown:(NSEvent *)theEvent { NSLog(@"habba"); // Arrow keys are associated with the numeric keypad if ([theEvent modifierFlags] & NSNumericPadKeyMask) { [window interpretKeyEvents:[NSArray arrayWithObject:theEvent]]; } else { [window keyDown:theEvent]; } } - (void)dealloc { [ball release]; [rightPaddle release]; [leftPaddle release]; [super dealloc]; } @end

  • Inherit from UINavigationController

    - by d.andreykiv
    Hi. I'm developing iphone app with UITabBarController as main view. Every ViewController in each tab is UINavigationController which must have a same button in leftBarButtonItem. Can I inherit some class from UINavigationController and override it's -(id) initWithRootViewController:(UIViewController *)rootViewController method to realize this ? I made something like this. But this code doesn't work; @implementation MainNavagaionController -(id) initWithRootViewController:(UIViewController *)rootViewController { if (self = [super initWithRootViewController:rootViewController]) { // Set user name title UIBarButtonItem * userNameButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc]initWithTitle:@"Title" style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:nil]; self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = userNameButton; [userNameButton release]; } return self; } @end

  • UITableView with dynamic cell heights -- what do I need to do to fix scrolling down?

    - by Ian Terrell
    I am building a teensy tiny little Twitter client on the iPhone. Naturally, I'm displaying the tweets in a UITableView, and they are of course of varying lengths. I'm dynamically changing the height of the cell based on the text quite fine: - (CGFloat)heightForTweetCellWithString:(NSString *)text { CGFloat height = Buffer + [text sizeWithFont:Font constrainedToSize:Size lineBreakMode:LineBreakMode].height; return MAX(height, MinHeight); } - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSString *text = // get tweet text for this indexpath return [self heightForTweetCellWithString:text]; } } I'm displaying the actual tweet cell using the algorithm in the PragProg book: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"TweetCell"; TweetCell *cell = (TweetCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [self createNewTweetCellFromNib]; } cell.tweet.text = // tweet text // set other labels, etc return cell; } When I boot up, all the tweets visible display just fine. However, when I scroll down, the tweets below are quite mussed up -- it appears that once a cell has scrolled off the screen, the cell height for the one above it gets resized to be larger than it should be, and obscures part of the cell below it. When the cell reaches the top of the view, it resets itself and renders properly. Scrolling up presents no difficulties. Here is a video that shows this in action: http://screencast.com/t/rqwD9tpdltd I've tried quite a bit already: resizing the cell's frame on creation, using different identifiers for cells with different heights (i.e. [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Identifier%d", rowHeight]), changing properties in Interface Builder... If there are additional code snippets I can post, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help!

  • How to remove segmentedcontroller from uinavigationcontroller after view pops?

    - by cannyboy
    I'm building a segmented control within my viewDidLoad method, like so: NSArray *tabitems = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"ONE", @"TWO", nil]; UISegmentedControl *tabs = [[UISegmentedControl alloc] initWithItems:tabitems]; tabs.segmentedControlStyle = UISegmentedControlStyleBar; tabs.frame = CGRectMake(185.0, 7.0, 130.0, 30.0); tabs.selectedSegmentIndex = 0; [self.navigationController.navigationBar addSubview:tabs]; [tabs release]; But when the user goes Back in the uinavigationcontroller hierarchy, the segmented controller stays on the navigation bar. How would I get rid of it? Or am I doing something fundamentally wrong?

  • Equivalent Carbon 32-bit call for using in 64-bit application - GetApplicationEventTarget().

    - by Dheeraj
    Hi All, I'm writing a 64-bit Cocoa application. I need to register for global key events. So I wrote this piece of code : - (void)awakeFromNib { EventHotKeyRef gMyHotKeyRef; EventHotKeyID gMyHotKeyID; EventTypeSpec eventType; eventType.eventClass=kEventClassKeyboard; eventType.eventKind=kEventHotKeyPressed; eventType.eventClass=kEventClassKeyboard; eventType.eventKind=kEventHotKeyPressed; InstallApplicationEventHandler(&MyHotKeyHandler,1,&eventType,NULL,NULL); gMyHotKeyID.signature='htk1'; gMyHotKeyID.id=1; RegisterEventHotKey(49, cmdKey+optionKey, gMyHotKeyID, **GetApplicationEventTarget**(), 0, &gMyHotKeyRef); } But since GetApplicationEventTarget() is not supported for 64-bit applications I'm getting errors. If I declare it, then I don't get any errors but the application crashes. Is there any equivalent method for GetApplicationEventTarget() (defined in Carbon framework) to use in 64-bit applications. Or is there any way to get the global key events using cocoa calls? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dheeraj.

  • Issues dismissing keyboard conditionally with on iPhone

    - by Chris
    I have an app that has a username and password field. I want to validate the input before the the user is allowed to stop editing the field. To do that, I'm using the textFieldShouldEndEditing delegate method. If the input doesn't validate I display a UIAlertView. This approach works as advertised - the user cannot leave the field if the input doesn't validate. To have the done button on the keyboard dismiss the keyboard, I call resignFirstResponder on the textfield. The issue I have is the alert is being called twice. How do I keep the alert from showing twice?

  • Can I create a UITableViewController that inherits from a custom subclass of UIViewController?

    - by prendio2
    I have common functionality that I need to access from all screens of my app: a right bar button item and associated action. So as not to repeat the code I would like to set this up in a custom UIViewController and have all my view controllers inherit from it. - (void)viewDidLoad { UIBarButtonItem *rightBarButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemPlay target:self action:@selector(lightsCamera)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = rightBarButton; } - (void)lightsCamera { … } However, I have a number of UITableViewControllers however and I would like to know if it is possible for them to inherit the functionality too?
