When trying to debug, I can clearly see that Source filter is not spitting out anything useful. (It’s like that the sink<--source transfer never works), so that’s why it wont connect. However, when I get source filter „Output 1“ pin, and then use myGraph.Render(source_output_pin), it works. Data is being sent from sink to source and everything connects automatically. However the problem is that the wrong VMR is inserted there. It’s VMR Renderer. I would like to have VMR9, that’s why im doing it. Why wont it work with VMR9 and why does source filter not show correct media type. Thank you.

• Incorrect rendering in dojox charting stacked column?

  Hiya, I seem to be having a problem with my dojo stackedcolumn whereby the scale of some of the bars is correct for some x-axis points, but not others.   I am trying to implement a simple authorization strategy for my Wicket application. I am implemented my own AuthorizationStrategy (extending IAuthorizationStrategy). http://old.nabble.com/Authorization-strategy-help-td18948597.html After reading the above link, I figured it makes more sense to use metadata-driven authorization than one using Annotations. So I have a simple RoleCheck class public class RoleCheck { private String privilege; public RoleCheck(String priv) { this.privilege = priv; } public void setPrivilege(String privilege) { this.privilege = privilege; } public String getPrivilege() { return privilege; } } I add it a component public static MetaDataKey priv = new MetaDataKey() {}; editLink.setMetaData(priv, new RoleCheck("Update")); And in my Authorization Strategy class, I try to get the metadata associated with the component public boolean isActionAuthorized(Component component, Action action) { if (action.equals(Component.RENDER)) { RoleCheck privCheck = (RoleCheck) component.getMetaData(EditControlToolBar.priv); if (privCheck != null) { ... } } However the getMetaData gives an error "Bound mismatch: The generic method getMetaData(MetaDataKey) of type Component is not applicable for the arguments (MetaDataKey). • CATiledLayer blanking tiles before drawing contents

  All, I'm having trouble getting behavior that I want from CATiledLayer. Is there a way that I can trigger the tiles to redraw without having the side-effect that their areas are cleared to white first? I've already subclassed CATiledLayer to set fadeDuration to return 0. To be more specific, here are the details of what I'm seeing and what I'm trying to achieve: I have a UIScrollView with a big content size...~12000x800. Its content view is a UIView backed by a CATiledLayer. The UIView is rendered with a lot of custom-drawn lines Everything works fine, but the contents of the UIView sometimes change. When that happens, I'd like to redraw the tiles as seamlessly as possible. When I use setNeedsDisplay on the view, the tiles redraw but they are first cleared to white and there's a fraction-of-a-second delay before the new content is drawn. I've already subclassed CATiledLayer so that fadeDuration is set to 0. The behavior that I want seems like it should be possible...when you zoom in on the scrollview and the content gets redrawn at a higher resolution, there's no blanking before the redraw; the new content is drawn right on top of the old one. That's what I'm looking for. Thanks; I appreciate your ideas. Update: Just to follow up - I realized that the tiles weren't being cleared to white before the redraw, they're being taken out entirely; the white that I was seeing is the color of the view that's beneath my CATiledLayer-backed view. As a quick hack/fix, I put a UIImageView beneath the UIScrollView, and before triggering a redraw of the CATiledLayer-backed view I render its visible section into the UIImageView and let it show. This smooths out the redraw significantly. If anyone has a better solution, like keeping the redraw-targeted tiles from going away before being redrawn in the first place, I'd still love to hear it.

• Help with understanding generic relations in Django (and usage in Admin)

  I'm building a CMS for my company's website (I've looked at the existing Django solutions and want something that's much slimmer/simpler, and that handles our situation specifically.. Plus, I'd like to learn this stuff better). I'm having trouble wrapping my head around generic relations. I have a Page model, a SoftwareModule model, and some other models that define content on our website, each with their get_absolute_url() defined. I'd like for my users to be able to assign any Page instance a list of objects, of any type, including other page instances. This list will become that Page instance's sub-menu. We're on our way. What I'm not sure how to pull off, is on the page instance's change form, how to create the relationship between that page, and any other extant object in the database. My desired end result: to render the following in a template: <ul> {% for link in page.links.all %} <li><a href='{{ link.content_object.get_absolute_url() }}'>{{ link.title }}</a></li> {% endfor%} </ul> Obviously, there's something I'm unaware of or mis-understanding, but I feel like I'm, treading into that area where I don't know what I don't know. What am I missing?

  I have the following model class Project < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :assignments, :conditions => {:deleted_at => nil} has_many :members, :conditions => {:deleted_at => nil} accepts_nested_attributes_for :members, :allow_destroy => true end class Member < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :project belongs_to :person belongs_to :role has_many :assignments, :dependent => :destroy, :conditions => {:deleted_at => nil} accepts_nested_attributes_for :assignments, :allow_destroy => true validates_presence_of :role_id validates_presence_of :project_id end and I assume the controller will populate the member.project_id upon project.save for each nested member record. However, I get a validation error stating the project_id is blank. My controller method: def create # @project is created in before_filter if @project.save flash[:notice] = "Successfully created project." redirect_to @project else render :action => 'new' end end Do I need to manually set the project_id in each nested member record? Or what is necessary for the controller to populate when it creates the member records?

  Hey. I am trying to filter Client Comments by using a select and rendering it in a partial. Right now the partial loads @client.comments. I have a Category model with a Categorizations join. This all works, just need to know how to get the select to call the filter action and load the partial with ajax. Thanks for you help. • SQL Server 2008 - Editing Tables: Bit columns require 'True' or 'False'

  Not so much a question as an observation... I'm just upgrading to SQL Server 2008 on my development machine in anticipation of upgrading my live applications. I didn't anticipate any problems since [I think] I generally use standard T-SQL, and probably not too far from ANSI standard SQL. So far so good, but I was really thrown by a very simple change: I was creating a simple, small look-up table to store a list of codes and including a bit column to indicate the current default code. But when I used the new/modified 'Edit Top 200 Rows' option, and entered my 0s and 1s in the the bit column I got an error: 'Invalid value for cell - String was not recognised as a valid boolean' After a bit of head-scratching, I tried True and False - and they worked. So it seems this new Edit feature requires 4 or 5 characters to be typed, rather than the previous 1. Checking further, we can still use '...where bitval = 1' but can now also use '...where bitval = 'true''. But any results returned render these bit columns as 0 or 1 still. It all sounds like half a step backwards. Not the end of the world, but and unnecessary annoyance. Does anybody have any insight on this issue? Or there any other new Gotchas with SQL Server 2008?

I want to make a control which will represent a form, but when I try to generate labels and textboxes it returns to me empty page.   My problem is this: I want to create a grails domain instance, defining the 'Many' instances of another domain that it has. I need a single form to allow a person to register but I want to normalise the data so that I can add more skills at a later time. • Draw a column graph with no space between columns

  I am using the WPF toolkit, and am trying to render a graph that looks like a histogram. In particular, I want each column to be right up against each other column. There should be no gaps between columns. There are a number of components that you apply when creating a column graph. (See example XAML below). • Using JSON with jRails

  I am currently trying to use AJAX in my application via jRails. I am trying to return a JSON object from my controller, and then parse it in my Javascript. I am using json2.js to do the parsing. Here is the code I currently have: function getSomething() { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "map/testjson", success: function(data) { var myData = JSON.parse(data[0]); window.alert(myData.login); } }); } and in the controller: class Map::MapController < ApplicationController def index end def testjson @message = User.find(:all) ActiveRecord::Base.include_root_in_json = false respond_to do |w| w.json { render :json => @message.to_json } end end end The window.alert simply says 'undefined' (without tics). However, if I change the javascript to window.alert(data) (the raw object returned by the controller) I get: [{"salt":"aSalt","name":"", "created_at":"2010-03-15T02:34:25Z","remember_token_expires_at": null,"crypted_password":"aPassword", "updated_at":"2010-03-15T02:34:25Z","id":1,"remember_token":null, "login":"zgwrig2","email":"[email protected]"}] This looks like an array of size 1, if I'm looking at it correctly, but I have tried just about every combination of JSON.parse on the data object that I can think of, and nothing seems to work. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong here?

• Using HAML with custom filters

  Hi everybody. I feel quite excited about HAML and CoffeeScript and am working on tutorial showing how to use them in non-Rails environment. So, haml has easy to use command-line utility haml input.haml output.html. And, what is great, there exist a project (one of many forks: https://github.com/aussiegeek/coffee-haml-filter) aimed at providing custom filter that converts CoffeeScript into JS inside of HAML files. Unfortunately (or am I missing something?) haml doesn't allow specifying custom filters on the command line or with some configuration file. I (not being a Ruby fan or even knowing it enough) managed to solve it (based on some clever suggestion somewhere on SO) with this helper script: haml.rb require 'rubygems' require 'active_support/core_ext/object/blank' require 'haml' require 'haml/filters/coffee' template = ARGV.length > 0 ? File.read(ARGV.shift) : STDIN.read haml_engine = Haml::Engine.new(template) file = ARGV.length > 0 ? File.open(ARGV.shift, 'w') : STDOUT file.write(haml_engine.render) file.close Which is quite straightforward, except of requires in the beginning. Now, the questions are: 1) should I really use it, or is there another way to have on-demand HAML to HTML compilation with custom filters? 2) What about HAML watch mode? It's great and convenient. I can, of course, create a polling script in python that will watch the directory changes and call this .rb script, but it looks like a dirty solution.

  I need stencil buffer on 3GS to render planar shadow, and polygon offset won't work prefect, still has z-fighting problem. So I use stencil buffer to make the shadow correct, it works on win32 gles2 emulator, but not on iPhone. After I added a post effect to the whole scene. The stencil buffer won't work even on win32 gles2 emulator. And I tried to attach a stencil buffer to FBO, buf the screen turns to black. • Are web-safe colors still relevant?

  Since the vast majority of monitors are 16-bit color or more, including mobile devices, does it make sense to even consider web-safe colors when choosing color schemes? Or is it something that ought to be relegated to history as a piece of trivia? For those of you that don't know what web-safe colors are: Another set of 216 color values is commonly considered to be the "web-safe" color palette, developed at a time when many computer displays were only capable of displaying 256 colors. A set of colors was needed that could be shown without dithering on 256-color displays; the number 216 was chosen partly because computer operating systems customarily reserved sixteen to twenty colors for their own use; it was also selected because it allows exactly six shades each of red, green, and blue (6 × 6 × 6 = 216). The list of colors is often presented as if it has special properties that render them immune to dithering. In fact, on 256-color displays applications can set a palette of any selection of colors that they choose, dithering the rest. • opacity and zIndex not getting set when hovered

  I'm messing around with a jquery carousel script and i'm trying to get it so when you hover over an image, the size will be doubled(which i have working) and the opacity will be 100. • .net MVC RenderPartial renders information that is not in the model

  Hi, I have a usercontrol that is rendering a list of items. Each row contains a unique id in a hidden field, a text and a delete button. When clicking on the delete button I use jquery ajax to call the controller method DeleteCA (seen below). DeleteCA returns a new list of items that replaces the old list. [HttpPost] public PartialViewResult DeleteCA(CAsViewModel CAs, Guid CAIdToDelete) { int indexToRemove = CAs.CAList.IndexOf(CAs.CAList.Single(m => m.Id == CAIdToDelete)); CAs.CAList.RemoveAt(indexToRemove); return PartialView("EditorTemplates/CAs", CAs); } I have checked that DeleteCA is really removing the correct item. The modified list of CAs passed to PartialView no longer contains the deleted item. Something weird happens when the partial view is rendered. The number of items in the list is reduced but it is always the last element that is removed from the list. The rendered items does not correspond to the items in the list/model sent to PartialView. In the usercontrol file (ascx) I'm using both Model.CAList and lambda expression m = m.CAList. How is it possible for the usercontrol to render stuff that is not in the model sent to PartialView? • Can I embed a custom font in an iPhone application?

  I would like to have an app include a custom font for rendering text, load it, and then use it with standard UIKit elements like UILabel. Is this possible? I found these links: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8304744 http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=569311 but these would require me to render each glyph myself, which is a bit too much like hard work, especially for multi-line text. I've also found posts that say straight out that it's not possible, but without justification, so I'm looking for a definitive answer. EDIT - failed -[UIFont fontWithName:size:] experiment I downloaded Harrowprint.tff (downloaded from here) and added it to my Resources directory and to the project. I then tried this code: UIFont* font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"Harrowprint" size:20]; which resulted in an exception being thrown. Looking at the TTF file in Finder confirmed that the font name was Harrowprint. EDIT - there have been a number of replies so far which tell me to read the documentation on X or Y. I've experimented extensively with all of these, and got nowhere. In one case, X turned out to be relevant only on OS X, not on iPhone. Consequently I am setting a bounty for this question, and I will award the bounty to the first person who provides an answer (using only documented APIs) who responds with sufficient information to get this working on the device. Working on the simulator too would be a bonus. EDIT - it appears that the bounty auto-awards to the answer with the highest nunber of votes. Interesting. No one actually provided an answer that solved the question as asked - the solution that involves coding your own UILabel subclass doesn't support word-wrap, which is an essential feature for me - though I guess I could extend it to do so.

• running bash scripts in php

  I have two computers. On the first computer I have apache running with all my web code. On the second computer I have large amounts of data stored with a retrieval script (the script usually takes hours to run). I am essentially creating a web UI to access this data without any time delay. so I call: exec("bash initial.bash"); this is a driver script that is in my Apache folder. It calls the script on the other computer. calling: ssh otherMachine temp.bash& this script invokes the data retrieval script on the second computer. If I call initial.bash in the terminal, everything works smoothly and successfully, but if I call it in my PHP file, then all my commands in initial.bash run, with the exception of ssh otherMachine temp.bash&. I put the & at the end of that, so that temp.bash will run in the background, since it does take a few hours to complete. I am not sure why the nested script is not running when invoked by Apache. Is there a better alternative than using exec or shell_exec to call a script, which ultimately calls another script. The reason I don't call a script on the second machine directly is because of the time it takes the program to run. Shell_exec does not render the php page until the script is complete.

• Can GWT image sprites using ImageBundle be made to work in IE7 and IE6?

  I'm trying to use a ClientBundle in my GWT application to make multiple images get sent as a single file. I declare the bundle like so: public interface MyResources extends ClientBundle { public static final MyResources INSTANCE = GWT.create(MyResources.class); @Source("icon1.png") ImageResource icon1(); @Source("icon2.png") ImageResource icon2(); } This works great in Firefox and IE8, but in IE7 (and earlier) the whole sprite shows up in place of one of my original images - that is, icon1 is next to icon2 next to icon3, and so on. In IE8's developer tools using IE8-as-IE7 mode or Compatibility View, I can see that it's showing an image with a file name like 26BEFD2399A92A5DDA54277BA550C75B.cache.png, which is what I'd expect. So is there any way to make GWT image sprites work in IE7 and lower? If not, is there any way to gracefully degrade so users of other browsers get the speedup of spriting and IE7 and IE6 users get something that looks right but is slower? Edit: The Client Bundle Developer's Guide has a discussion of using ClientBundle and @sprite, and says "Support for IE6 isn't feasible in this format, because structural changes to the DOM are necessary to implement a "windowing" effect. Once it's possible to distinguish ie6 and ie7 in user.agent, we could revisit support for ie6. In the current implementation, the ie6 code won't render correctly, although is a purely cosmetic issue." Is this what's going on in my case, and is there a way to work around it? Showing all the images is "purely a cosmetic issue", but it's a pretty severe one.

• Migrating to web application with AjaxControlToolkit

  Hi All, We are currently migrating our ASP.NET website to a web application in Visual Studio 2008. Most of the process has been fairly straight forward, but I have hit one block that is driving me a bit nuts. We are using the AjaxControlToolkit for some functionality, specifically an AutoControlExtender. When this is run locally through VS's development server the extender (dropdown) does not render after the service returns the resultset. However if I deploy the migrated solution to our UAT server the extender functions correctly. I have ensured the Ajax Control Toolkit is properly installed locally on my dev machine (and the dll available in the bin directory), and using debugging have ensured the service is called correctly and runs through without error (which it does). The web application was taken from a server running IIS7. Can anyone confirm if Visual Studio 2008 development server requires a different configuration to IIS 7 (as I believe IIS 6 requires a different configuration to IIS 7), and if there is a resource that provides more info? My own searches have turned up very little in this area. On the other hand, if I am looking in the wrong area any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks Chris

  How would I design an API to hide the asynchronous nature of AJAX and HTTP requests, or basically delay it to provide a fluid interface. I am guessing that a well designed API like this should work like a query builder (think ORMs) where each function call builds the query (HTTP URL in this case), until it hits a looping function such as each/map/etc., the HTTP call is made and the passed in function becomes the callback. An easy development route would be to make each AJAX call synchronous, but that's probably not the best solution. I am interested in figuring out a way to make it asynchronous, and still hide the asynchronous nature of AJAX.

• Solve the IE select overlap bug

  When using IE, you cannot put an absolutely positioned div over a select input element. That's because the select element is considered an ActiveX object and is on top of every HTML element in the page. I already saw people hiding selects when opening a popup div, that leads to pretty bad user experience having controls disappearing. FogBugz actually had a pretty smart solution (before v6) of turning every select into text boxes when a popup was displayed. This solved the bug and tricked the user eye but the behavior was not perfect. Another solution is in FogBugz 6 where they no more use the select element and recoded it everywhere. Last solution I currently use is messing up the IE rendering engine and force it to render the absolutely positioned div as an ActiveX element too, ensuring it can live over a select element. This is achieved by placing an invisible iframe inside the div and styling it with: #MyDiv iframe { position: absolute; z-index: -1; filter: mask(); border: 0; margin: 0; padding: 0; top: 0; left: 0; width: 9999px; height: 9999px; overflow: hidden; } Anyone has a even better solution than this one ? EDIT: The purpose of this question is as much informative as it is a real question. I find the iframe trick to be a good solution but I am still looking for improvement like removing this ugly useless iframe tag that degrade accessibility.
