• possible to change a script when it is running?

  Suppose a script has 1000 lines, and the 10 line has a command takes a long time to run and when I find it is running line 10, I find I need to change line 100, is it possible to do that without stop the script first? We can also stop a process by using command pstop, but I don't know how to let the process to re-read the script and continue to run from where it paused.

When I only had numbers on the lines I used: for line in readlines(file): data = map(float, line.split) But this only works when all the elements of line.split are numbers. How can I make it store the letters as strings and the numbers as floats?

There is a count method but it takes a Func. If I don't pass a Func paremeter, I could get all the properties in the collection, but how could I not pass one in? Thanks

  I'm trying to edit a legacy wss3 sharepoint site. Messing around with a 700+ code lines aspx page I got a "The server tag is not well formed." error on sharepoint and The ?content=1 trick does not work. Anyone has a tip on how to get to the line that's causing the problem? I'm expecting something like the aspnet ysod, at least that's usefull. Log files can get quite large, so I've already tried and ruled out the IO.readlines("log_file.log")[-200..-1] method.   There are often times I'll grep -l whatev file to find what I'm looking for. Say the output is 1234: whatev 1 5555: whatev 2 6643: whatev 3 If I want to then just extract the lines between 1234 and 5555, is there a tool to do that? For static files I have a script that does wc -l of the file and then does the math to split it out with tail & head but that doesn't work out so well with log files that are constantly being written to.

I know Java isn't made to be particularly speedy but I can't seem to find much info on this at all.
