  • Is external JavaScript source available to scripting context inside HTML page?

    - by John K
    When an external JavaScript file is referenced, <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script> is the JavaScript source (lines of code before interpretation) available from the DOM or window context in the current HTML page? I mean by using only standard JavaScript without any installed components or tools. I know tools like Firebug trace into external source but it's installed on the platform and likely has special ability outside the context of the browser sandbox.

  • What is your most useful C/C++ snippet?

    - by maddizzyro
    Hello all, It seems that every project has an "util" module with various code snippets used throughout other files and which don't fit any particular pattern. I want to improve my "util" library, so please post here the most useful class / function / macro that you use in all your C/C++ projects. Please keep the entries small (under 100 lines) and give only one example per post. Thank you.

  • Using C# to read/write from excel spreadsheet.

    - by Aaron
    Hi there, I need to make a program that writes some data to an excel spreadsheet. Something basic along the lines of First name, last name, phone number, e-mail per row with each category in its own column. I don't even know where to start. If someone could tell me which assemblies to reference and maybe point me to a website or a book that covers writing/reading data from an excel spreadsheet via a c# program that would be great. Many thanks.

  • JavaScript Self Executing Functions - What's the Difference?

    - by modernzombie
    I am very familiar with self executing functions from working with jQuery. (function($) { /* do stuff */ })(jQuery); Today I was reading the backbone.js source and noticed that they do this: (function() { /* do stuff */ }).call(this); Is this achieving the same thing? Would the following 2 lines of code do the same thing? (function($) { /* do stuff */ })(jQuery); (function($) { /* do stuff */ }).call(jQuery);

  • Git: Ignoring certain commits when pushing

    - by int3
    I'd like to have some modifications that are private to my fork. How do I go about doing this? There's a question here about pushing a single commit, and the answer is to cherry-pick the commits you want to push from a private branch and put them on the main branch. However, I would like something more along the lines of ignoring a certain commit when pushing.

  • Tagging the differencies in both files

    - by Hakim
    I know that comparing 2 files is a typical problem and there are many discussions on this problem. but I have a rather different problem while working with text files: I have two text files which may differ in number of lines. now I want to compare two files and find the lines which differ. after that I want to tag all the differencies in both of files. for example here are the content of my files: File1.txt: This is the first line. This line is just appeared in File1.txt. you can see this line in both files. this line is also appeared in both files. this line and, this one are mereged in File2.txt. File2.txt: This is the first line. you can see this line in both files. this line is also appeared in both files. this line and, this one are mereged in File2.txt. After processing I want both files to be like this: File1.txt: This is the first line. <Diff>This line is just appeared in File1.txt.</Diff> you can see this line in both files. this line is also appeared in both files. <Diff>this line and,</Diff> <Diff>this one are merged in File2.txt.</Diff> File1.txt: This is the first line. <Diff></Diff> you can see this line in both files. this line is also appeared in both files. <Diff>this line and, this one are mereged in File2.txt.</Diff> <Diff></Diff> How can I do this? I know that some tools such as diff could help me, but how can I convert their results in this format? Thank you in advance.

  • how to send text to a process in a shell script?

    - by Martin
    So I have a Linux program that runs in a while(true) loop, which waits for user input, process it and print result to stdout. I want to write a shell script that open this program, feed it lines from a txt file, one line at a time and save the program output for each line to a file. So I want to know if there is any command for: - open a program - send text to a process - receive output from that program Many thanks.

  • How do I delete the first line in a file?

    - by Soop
    I can't search for a particular string, since they're all very similar, but I'd like something simple to chop out the first 4 lines in a file. They're all variable length too. I've had a a think about perl, and it all seems harder than I thought, but I'd like to do it in Perl, AWK or a shell command if possible. Does anybody have a simple way of doing this?

  • How to skip a statement in Eclipse during debugging

    - by frankfwl
    Is it possible to skip a statement in Eclipse while debugging? Suppose the process stopped at breakpoint and I want to skip the breakpoint line ( or maybe a few lines below), can I do it? On the debug tab, it only has "Step into", "Step over" and "Step return" buttons. I did google around but couldn't find anything, hopefully I can find an answer here.

  • C++ Arrays manipulations (python-like operations)

    - by Linai
    Hi Guys, I'm trying to figure out the best C++ library/package for array manipulations in a manner of python. Basically I need a simplicity like this: values = numpy.array(inp.data) idx1 = numpy.where(values > -2.14) idx2 = numpy.where(values < 2.0) res1 = (values[idx1] - diff1)/1000 res1 = (values[idx2] - diff2)*1000 In python it's just 5 lines, but the simplest way in C++ i can think of is quite a number of nested loops. Pls advise..

  • Workflow for reading and writing files

    - by AIR_PhillipSenn
    In Workflow for reading and writing files the authors use these two lines of code: var file = air.File.documentsDirectory; file = file.resolvePath("AIR Test/testFile.txt"); But I think that it's using one variable for two different meanings, isn't it? Wouldn't it be better to write them as: var myDocumentsDirectory = air.File.documentsDirectory; var myTestFile = myDocumentsDirectory.resolvePath("AIR Test/testFile.txt");

  • Java API Method Run Times

    - by Mike
    Is there a good resource to get run times for standard API functions? It's somewhat confusing when trying to optimize your program. I know Java isn't made to be particularly speedy but I can't seem to find much info on this at all. Example Problem: If I am looking for a certain token in a file is it faster to scan each line using string.contains(...) or to bring in say 100 or so lines putting them to a local string them performing contains on that chunk.
