  • C# private (hidden) base class

    - by Loadmaster
It is possible to make a C# base class accessible only within the library assembly it's compiled into, while making other subclasses that inherit from it public? For example: using System.IO; class BaseOutput: Stream // Hidden base class { protected BaseOutput(Stream o) { ... } ...lots of common methods... } public class MyOutput: BaseOutput // Public subclass { public BaseOutput(Stream o): base(o) { ... } public override int Write(int b) { ... } } Here I'd like the BaseOutput class to be inaccessible to clients of my library, but allow the subclass MyOutput to be completely public. I know that C# does not allow base classes to have more restrictive access than subclasses, but is there some other legal way of achieving the same effect?

  • How do i change Object to String in a class which extends AsyncTask?

    - by Filip V.
I'm learning from Google's Android developing tutorial and i came across a problem. On this link https://developer.android.com/training/basics/network-ops/connecting.html#AsyncTask it says to create a class that extends AsyncTask. So when i write the class it automatically implements the method as follows: private Object doInBackground(Object... args) {..} //it's fine but when i try writing just as it says in the tutorial: private String doInBackground(String... args) {..} //it gives an error and the error says: The method doInBackground(String...) of type MainActivity.DownloadWebpageText must override a superclass method. So how do i change Object to String without getting an error there?

  • DrawImage in XP Mode or Remote Desktop

    - by simplecoder
    I'm displaying a PNG with a transparent background that looks good in Windows 7, but then I run my app in XP Mode or remote desktop to a Windows XP machine and the PNG looks incorrect. I noticed that if I disable "Integration Mode" or run the app on XP without remote desktop, the image looks fine. How do I get DrawImage to render the PNG correctly in XP Mode or remote desktop? Image inside Windows 7 Image inside XP Mode or remote desktop Here's my code: protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { Image image = Image.FromFile("hello.png", false); Bitmap bmp = new Bitmap(image); Rectangle destRect = new Rectangle(0, 0, image.Width, image.Height); e.Graphics.DrawImage(image, destRect, 0, 0, image.Width, image.Height, GraphicsUnit.Pixel); base.OnPaint(e); }

  • How to access base (super) class in Delphi?

    - by Niyoko Yuliawan
    In C# i can access base class by base keyword, and in java i can access it by super keyword. How to do that in delphi? suppose I have following code: type TForm3 = class(TForm) private procedure _setCaption(Value:String); public property Caption:string write _setCaption; //adding override here gives error end; implementation procedure TForm3._setCaption(Value: String); begin Self.Caption := Value; //it gives stack overflow end;

  • OpenERP model tracking external resource, hooking into parent's copy() or copy_data()

    - by CB.
I have added a new model (call it crm_lead_external) that is linked via a new one2many on crm_lead. Thus, my module has two models defined: an updated crm_lead (with _name=crm_lead) and a new crm_lead_external. This external model tracks a file and as such has a 'filename' field. I also created a unique SQL index on this filename field. This is part of my module: def copy(self, cr, uid, id, default=None, context=None): if not default: default = {} default.update({ 'state': 'new', 'filename': '', }) ret = super(crm_lead_external, self).copy(cr, uid, id, default, context=context) #do file copy return ret The intent here is to allow an external entity to be duplicated, but to retarget the file path. Now, if I click duplicate on the Lead, I get an IntegrityError on my unique constraint. Is there a particular reason why copy() isn't being called? Should I add this logic to copy_data()? Myst I really override copy() for the lead? Thanks in advance.

  • How to test soft deletion event listner without setting up NHibernate Sessions

    - by isuruceanu
I have overridden the default NHibernate DefaultDeleteEventListener according to this source: http://nhforge.org/blogs/nhibernate/archive/2008/09/06/soft-deletes.aspx so I have protected override void DeleteEntity( IEventSource session, object entity, EntityEntry entityEntry, bool isCascadeDeleteEnabled, IEntityPersister persister, ISet transientEntities) { if (entity is ISoftDeletable) { var e = (ISoftDeletable)entity; e.DateDeleted = DateTime. Now; CascadeBeforeDelete(session, persister, entity, entityEntry, transientEntities); CascadeAfterDelete(session, persister, entity, transientEntities); } else { base.DeleteEntity(session, entity, entityEntry, isCascadeDeleteEnabled, persister, transientEntities); } } How can I test only this piece of code, without configuring an NHIbernate Session?

  • How to I get raw 'mouse' events with touch screens on Windows Vista/7?

    - by Emil
Does anyone have a clue how to completely disable the touch/tablet 'magic' introduced in Windows Vista? When I follow the steps on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb969148(VS.85).aspx (both SetProp disable and WM_TABLET_QUERYSYSTEMGESTURESTATUS override) I succeed in stopping windows from treating press-and-hold as a right-click (it correctly gives me a WM_LBUTTONDOWN), but it also gives me a premature WM_LBUTTONUP (before I really let go of the screen). And there is also another problem: a click followed by a drag (down, up, down, move) is treated as a double-click (down, up, down, up, move). These issues occur with two very different touch screens (so it is not a hardware problem), and it never used to happen with Windows XP. This really bugs me. I would much rather have the raw input events like you have for normal mouse clicks. Any ideas?

  • Custom Control Events in C#

    - by pm_2
I'm trying to create a custom control and need to raise an event from it. The idea is to raise an event at the end of the click event (OnAfterClick). I found one or two tutorials on doing this, but am clearly missing a step somewhere; I have the following. In the control: public class AfterClickEventArgs : EventArgs { ... } public partial class MyButton : CommandButton { public delegate void AfterClickEvnt(object sender, AfterClickEventArgs e); public event AfterClickUpdatedEvnt AfterClick; } protected override void OnClick(EventArgs e) { ... Processing here ... AfterClickEventArgs myArgs = new AfterClickEventArgs(); AfterClick(this, newArgs); } In the program using the control: In InitializeComponent(): this.MyButton.AfterClick += new System.EventHandler(this.cmdMyButton_Click); This line is giving me a compile error (cmdMyButton_Click does exist). It tells me: Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.EventHandler' to 'Namespace.MyButton.AfterClick' Can anyone tell me what I'm missing, or misunderstanding about this, please?

  • Multiple windows services in a single project = mystery

    - by Remoh
I'm having a bizarre issue that I haven't seen before and I'm thinking it MUST be something simple that I'm not seeing in my code. I have a project with 2 windows services defined. One I've called DataSyncService, the other SubscriptionService. Both are added to the same project installer. Both use a timer control from System.Timers. If I start both services together, they seem to work fine. The timers elapse at the appropriate time and everything looks okay. However, if I start either service individually, leaving the other stopped, everything goes haywire. The timer elapses constantly and on the wrong service. In other words, if I start the DataSyncService, the SubscriptionService timer elapses over and over. ...which is obviously strange. The setup is similar to what I've done in the past so I'm really stumped. I even tried deleting both service and starting over but it doesn't seem to make a difference. At this point, I'm thinking I've made a simple error in the way I'm defining the services and my brain just won't let me see it. It must be creating some sort of threading issue that causes one service to race when the other is stopped. Here the code.... From Program.cs: static void Main() { ServiceBase[] ServicesToRun; ServicesToRun = new ServiceBase[] { new DataSyncService(), new SubscriptionService() }; ServiceBase.Run(ServicesToRun); } From ProjectInstaller.designer.cs: private void InitializeComponent() { this.serviceProcessInstaller1 = new System.ServiceProcess.ServiceProcessInstaller(); this.dataSyncInstaller = new System.ServiceProcess.ServiceInstaller(); this.subscriptionInstaller = new System.ServiceProcess.ServiceInstaller(); // // serviceProcessInstaller1 // this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Account = System.ServiceProcess.ServiceAccount.LocalSystem; this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Password = null; this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Username = null; // // dataSyncInstaller // this.dataSyncInstaller.DisplayName = "Data Sync Service"; this.dataSyncInstaller.ServiceName = "DataSyncService"; this.dataSyncInstaller.StartType = System.ServiceProcess.ServiceStartMode.Automatic; // // subscriptionInstaller // this.subscriptionInstaller.DisplayName = "Subscription Service"; this.subscriptionInstaller.ServiceName = "SubscriptionService"; this.subscriptionInstaller.StartType = System.ServiceProcess.ServiceStartMode.Automatic; // // ProjectInstaller // this.Installers.AddRange(new System.Configuration.Install.Installer[] { this.serviceProcessInstaller1, this.dataSyncInstaller, this.subscriptionInstaller}); } private System.ServiceProcess.ServiceProcessInstaller serviceProcessInstaller1; private System.ServiceProcess.ServiceInstaller dataSyncInstaller; private System.ServiceProcess.ServiceInstaller subscriptionInstaller; From DataSyncService.cs: public static readonly int _defaultInterval = 43200000; //log4net.ILog log; public DataSyncService() { InitializeComponent(); //log = LogFactory.Instance.GetLogger(this); } protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { timer1.Interval = _defaultInterval; //GetInterval(); timer1.Enabled = true; EventLog.WriteEntry("MyProj", "Data Sync Service Started", EventLogEntryType.Information); //log.Info("Data Sync Service Started"); } private void timer1_Elapsed(object sender, System.Timers.ElapsedEventArgs e) { EventLog.WriteEntry("MyProj", "Data Sync Timer Elapsed.", EventLogEntryType.Information); } private void InitializeComponent() { this.timer1 = new System.Timers.Timer(); ((System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize)(this.timer1)).BeginInit(); // // timer1 // this.timer1.Enabled = true; this.timer1.Elapsed += new System.Timers.ElapsedEventHandler(this.timer1_Elapsed); // // DataSyncService // this.ServiceName = "DataSyncService"; ((System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize)(this.timer1)).EndInit(); } From SubscriptionService: public static readonly int _defaultInterval = 300000; //log4net.ILog log; public SubscriptionService() { InitializeComponent(); } protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { timer1.Interval = _defaultInterval; //GetInterval(); timer1.Enabled = true; EventLog.WriteEntry("MyProj", "Subscription Service Started", EventLogEntryType.Information); //log.Info("Subscription Service Started"); } private void timer1_Elapsed(object sender, System.Timers.ElapsedEventArgs e) { EventLog.WriteEntry("MyProj", "Subscription Service Time Elapsed", EventLogEntryType.Information); } private void InitializeComponent() //in designer { this.timer1 = new System.Timers.Timer(); ((System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize)(this.timer1)).BeginInit(); // // timer1 // this.timer1.Enabled = true; this.timer1.Elapsed += new System.Timers.ElapsedEventHandler(this.timer1_Elapsed); // // SubscriptionService // this.ServiceName = "SubscriptionService"; ((System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize)(this.timer1)).EndInit(); } Again, the problem is that the timer1_elapsed handler runs constantly when only one of the services is started. And it's the handler on the OPPOSITE service. Anybody see anything?

  • FileInputStream and FileOutputStream to the same file: Is a read() guaranteed to see all write()s that "happened before"?

    - by user946850
I am using a file as a cache for big data. One thread writes to it sequentially, another thread reads it sequentially. Can I be sure that all data that has been written (by write()) in one thread can be read() from another thread, assuming a proper "happens-before" relationship in terms of the Java memory model? Is this behavior documented? EDIT: In my JDK, FileOutputSream does not override flush(), and OutputStream.flush() is empty. That's why I'm wondering... EDIT^2: The streams in question are owned exclusively by a class that I have full control of. Each stream is guaranteed to be accesses by one thread only. My tests show that it works as expected, but I'm still wondering if this is guaranteed and documented. • How to use SynonymFilterFactory in Solr?

    - by AlxVallejo
I'm trying to execute synonym filtering at query time so that if I search for X, results for Y also show up. I go to where Solr is being run, edit the .txt file and add X, Y on a new line. This does not work. I check the schema and I see: <analyzer type="query"> <filter class="solr.SynonymFilterFactory" synonyms="synonyms.txt" ignoreCase="true" expand="true" /> What am I missing? EDIT Assessing configuration files tomcat6/Catalina/localhost seems to point to the correct location <Context docBase="/data/solr/solr.war" debug="0" privileged="true" allowLinking="true" crossContext="true"> <Environment name="solr/home" type="java.lang.String" value="/data/solr" override="true" /> </Context> Also, in the Solr admin I see this. What does cwd mean? cwd=/usr/share/tomcat6 SolrHome=/data/solr/

  • Setting a form field's value during validation

    - by LaundroMat
I read about this issue already, but I'm having trouble understanding why I can't change the value of a form's field during validation. I have a form where a user can enter a decimal value. This value has to be higher than the initial value of the item the user is changing. During clean(), the value that was entered is checked against the item's previous value. I would like to be able to re-set the form field's value to the item's initial value when a user enters a lower value. Is this possible from within the clean() method, or am I forced to do this in the view? Somehow, it doesn't feel right to do this in the view... (To make matters more complicated, the form's fields are built up dynamically, meaning I have to override the form's clean() method instead of using the clean_() method).

  • table row long press

I have a table which is built dynamically based on how much data is present, if at all. I want to be able to long press anywhere on a the table row to be able to get some options to delete or edit etc. Is this possible? Remember I need to do all this without setting any XML as its dynamically built. Is this relevant to what I want to achieve? ` @override public boolean onKeyLongPress(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if (keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK) { // do your stuff here return true; } return super.onKeyLongPress(keyCode, event); } ` any advice is appreciated.

  • Android: Prompt user to save changes when Back button is pressed

    - by chriskopec
I have an activity that contains several user editable items (an EditText field, RatingBar, etc). I'd like to prompt the user if the back/home button is pressed and changes have been made that have not yet been saved. After reading through the android documentation, it seems like this piece of code should go in the onPause method. I've tried putting an AlertDialog in the onPause however the dialog gets shown and then immediately tears down because nothing is there to block the pause from completing. This is what I've come up with so far: @Override protected void onPause() { super.onPause(); AlertDialog ad = new AlertDialog.Builder(this).setMessage( R.string.rating_exit_message).setTitle( R.string.rating_exit_title).setCancelable(false) .setPositiveButton(android.R.string.ok, new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int whichButton) { // User selects OK, save changes to db } }).setNeutralButton(android.R.string.cancel, new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int whichButton) { // User selects Cancel, discard all changes } }).show(); } Am I on the right track or is there another way to accomplish what I'm trying to do here? Any help would be great!

  • How do you map a composite id to a composite user type with Fluent NHibernate?

    - by gabe
i'm working w/ a legacy database is set-up stupidly with an index composed of a char id column and two char columns which make up a date and time, respectively. I have created a icompositeusertype for the date and time columns to map to a single .NET DateTime property on my entity, which works by itself when not part of the id. i need to somehow use a composite id with key property mapping that includes my icompositeusertype for mapping to the two char date and time columns. Apparently w/ my version of Fluent NHibernate, CompositeIdentityPart doesn't have a CustomTypeIs() method, so i can't just do the following in my override: mapping.UseCompositeId() .WithKeyProperty(x => x.Id, CommonDatabaseFieldNames.Id) .WithKeyProperty(x => x.FileCreationDateTime) .CustomTypeIs<FileCreationDateTimeType>(); is something like this even possible w/ NHibernate let alone Fluent? I haven't been able to find anything on this.

  • Is there a design pattern for this ?

    - by ytrewq
I have a component that needs to call a specific service depending on the input it receives. So my component has to look at the input and based on a configuration that says "for this input call this service with this data" needs to call the proper service. The services have a common signature method and a specific one (each). I thought about an abstract class that includes the signatures for all three methods. The implementation for the two services will override all three methods (throwing NotImplementedException for the methods that are not supported by current service). A component that could be initialized with a map (that for each input type will have the type of the service to be called) will also be defined. Do you have a better approach to cope this scenario ?

  • Validating primitive types in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Alex
I've implemented the following classes to validate data public abstract class Validated { public bool IsValid { get { return (GetRuleViolations().Count() == 0); } } public abstract IEnumerable<RuleViolation> GetRuleViolations(); } public partial class User: Validated { public override IEnumerable<RuleViolation> GetRuleViolations() { if (this.Age < 1) yield return new RuleViolation("Age can't be less than 1"); } } It works great! When the form is submitted I just do if (user.IsValid == false) blah... But I still need to validate that the Age is an integer int a = 0; if (!int.TryParse(age, out a)) { error = "Not integer"; // ... } How can I move this to my model?

  • Dropdown binding and postbacks - ASP.NET

    - by DotnetDude
I have a rather complex page. The ASPX page loads a user control which in turn loads a child User control. Parent Control protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e) { //Loads child control } In the child user control, I use custom control that inherits from System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlSelect ASCX: <cust:CustDropDownList id="ctlDdl" runat="server"/> ASCX.CS protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Binds CtlDdl here } When the user clicks on the Save button, the controls get user controls get dynamically reloaded, but Iose the value the user has selected in the dropdown. I run into the chicken and egg problem here. I think I need to bind the ctlDdl only on if its not a postback, but that results in the dropdown not getting populated. If I bind it everytime, then i lose user's selection EDIT: Can someone respond to my comment to Jonathan's answer? Thanks

  • How to integrate yahoo user interface with cakePHP

    - by ygmehboob
Hi all I am very new to cakePHP, I want to add YUI accordion in the default layout of my application. A simple explanation could be like this - I have a table 'lecturers' in my database. I have baked the model lecturer (file) I have baked the controller lecturers_controller (file) I have baked the view lecturers (folder) I need to override the default layout but I want to add YUI 3 accordion sothat the table name lecturers will be on top, after clicking on the top division it will slidedown and will show me the column name of lecturer table. Is there anyone who could suggest me how to integrate the YUI 3 accordion - Do I have to write a helper for this or simply after copying the YUI 3 library I could code this in the default.ctp file. I am really confused as I could hardly get a full tutorial on this topic. Thank you in advance ................
