  • Are there any Rails Plugins that use JS to poll the server for completion of a background process?

    I know it might be simple to write some polling JS that asks the Rails application if it has completed a background job. But I wonder if anyone has already packaged up this functionality as a plugin. Basically, I have a few delayed_jobs running, and am looking for a plugin that will poll the server for completion of a particular job, then activate a callback when it finds that the job is complete. Any ideas anyone? Berns

  • How do you optimize stunicholls' "Professional dropdown #2" with jquery?

    Link to menu: Professional dropdown #2 I was wondering if these posts Suckerfish meets jQuery or Son of Suckerfish dropdowns in jQuery could optimize the menu above. I need the menu to be optimized for IE6, because when I use the menu as it is, the menu hangs after I click on a menu item that loads a page with heavy processing. It takes too long for the menu to be enabled again. Any ideas?

    Hi folks, One of the ad agencies I code for had me set up an alternate scrolling solution because you know how designers hate things that just work but aren't beautiful. So, this is married in places to their CMS. What I have not been able to sort yet is how to hide the scrolling UI when overflow:auto is not triggered by the CMS content. Any ideas? TIA JG

  • Flash, getURL works from time to time

    I'm not a flasher, but i did a menu for site on flash i have about 10 buttons working like hyperlink using getURL. So, problem is: it works perfectly on my netbook (Win XP - Mozilla/Chrome/IE - last flash player) it works perfectly on my wife's laptop (Vista - Mozilla/chrome/IE - last flash player) But it does not work at all on my employer's computers (XP/Vista - Mozilla/Chrome - last flash player) I'm using swfobject (i'm not sure what version is, but i think it's 2.x) Do you have any ideas?

    Hi all, I have an ASP.NET login control on a page, with the "Remember Me" checkbox displayed. I have checked in trace and the authentication cookie is being created, I have sliding expiration set and a timeout of 60000, yet when I return to the website the login is not being remembered.     I am developing a Crystal Report in Visual Studio 2008. I am trying to implement optional parameters so that a user does not have to specify a value or range for a particular field. Essentially, this means there is no filtering done on that field if the user wishes. However, I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Does anyone have any ideas?     How can I find the least prime number greater than a given number? For example, given 4, I need 5; given 7, I need 11. I would like to know some ideas on best algorithms to do this. One method that I thought of was generate primes numbers through the Sieve of Eratosthenes, and then find the prime after the given number.

  • jQuery Script works in all browsers but Chrome

    This site has a script that works in all browsers i tested but Chrome, which i think is strange because it is usually IE that acts up. The error console says Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toLowerCase' of undefined Uncaught TypeError: Object #<an Object> has no method 'set' however i don't know what to do with this information.   • Specifying a relative path in web.xml when debugging a servlet with Eclipse's WTP Tomcat Server?

    I'm trying to specify a relative directory in the web.xml file. I basically want it to read the "data" folder underneath "web-inf", but nothing I've tried seems to work. "/data" translates to the data folder in the root directory (I'm using windows). "data" translates to "C:\Program Files\Eclipes\data" "${CATALINA_HOME}/[etc...]" doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas?

    This great SO answer points to a good sparse solver, but I've got constraints on x (for Ax = b) such that each element in x is >=0 an <=N. The first thing which comes to mind is an QP solver for large sparse matrices. Also, A is huge (around 2e6x2e6) but very sparse with <=4 elements per row. Any ideas/recommendations? I'm looking for something like MATLAB's lsqlin but with huge sparse matrices.

    I use Firebug's console.log() for debugging my website. If I try viewing my website in browsers without Firebug then I get a console is not defined error. Is there a way to gracefully avoid this error? I found this potential solution, but it seems a bit cumbersome. And ideas?
