    I have a test suite DLL written in C# that uses Selenium.This is then loaded into NUnit and tests can be performed on our embedded web server boards. Does anyone know how to run a NUnit Selenium test on multiple IPs in multiple browsers? I have tried creating multiple DefaultSelenium classes but they point to the same Internet Explorer window. I need multiple instances of the Selenium RC controlling individual Internet Explorer windows. Have been looking a lot on the Selenium User Group and in various documentation but can find a definitive answer. Cheers, Matt

    I'm reading xUnit Test Patterns by Gerard Meszaros. On one of the pages he refers to some software metrics: While the need to wrap lines to keep them at 65 characters makes this code look even longer than it really is, it is still unnecessarily long. It contains 25 executable statements including initialized declarations, 6 lines of control statements, 4 in-line comments, and 2 lines to declare the test method—giving a total of 37 lines of unwrapped source code. Short of counting the statements to find these metrics, does anybody have any idea if he used a particular tool to calculate the metrics? (If you have any suggestions for tools that will count similar metrics, I'm looking for one that works on Java, Javascript and C++) Thanks!

    I have installed IE8 on my system. I usually test my application on this browser, but the problem arises when i got to know that the client is using IE7. Now how can i test my application on IE7? One possible solution is to have dual booting on my system. So on version of Windows i can have IE7 and on another i can have IE8. But i really don't want to use this solution. Another possible solution is to use PC Emulator [ Don't know what is this, just heard about these ]. Using which i can have multiple IE version simultaneously. Have you ever tried this solution? Please name any good FREE emulator. Please let me know if there is any other better solution.

    What is the algorithm used by the memberwise equality test in .NET structs? I would like to know this so that I can use it as the basis for my own algorithm. I am trying to write a recursive memberwise equality test for arbitrary objects (in C#) for testing the logical equality of DTOs. This is considerably easier if the DTOs are structs (since ValueType.Equals does mostly the right thing) but that is not always appropriate. I would also like to override comparison of any IEnumerable objects (but not strings!) so that their contents are compared rather than their properties. This has proven to be harder than I would expect. Any hints will be greatly appreciated. I'll accept the answer that proves most useful or supplies a link to the most useful information. Thanks.

  • How can I force maven to use my mock version of dependencies during the test phase.

    Hi, so I have a Java application with a that accesses some web services. I want to mock out the appropriate classes so I can just use a few hard coded request/responses and I want maven to seamlessly use them during the tests and ignore them during the final build. I want maven2 to: 1)compile my mock classes 2)compile the main classes that depend on the mocked code 3)run tests 4)recompile any main classes with the real dependencies, not my mocks 5)finish up the maven install Ideally I want to just name my mock classes the same as my main class and just keep them in src/test/mocks or something. I'm kind of new to maven and so far it looks like maven will only compile the src/main and then src/test but I'm hoping I can have my way. Any ideas?

Summarize what I want to achieve: 1) a webpage with javascript hosted in my website(http://myweb.com/test-speed.html) 2) I give this url to my friends 3) They don't need to do anything, they just need to access this webpage then the latency is printed out in the webpage. 4) If the webpage can also tell which state the visitor is in(using IP address range database), it will be a plus. Any existing solutions? I can modify the javascript to log the data into database, but I think the core here is how to writ the javascript to know the latency.

And I can't figure out how to do it using Selenium expressions, DOM, or XPath.

  • How do I set up a test duplicate of a Django and Postgresql based web application?

    Not sure if this is an excessively broad and newbie-ish question for Stack Overflow but here goes: I paid someone else to build a web application for me and now I want to tweak certain aspects of it myself. I learn best by trial and error – changing stuff and seeing what happens. Obviously that's not a great way to treat a live site, so I need to duplicate the site on some kind of test server which I can play with without fear of the consequences. Unfortunately the closest I've come to programming has been creating ActionScript-based websites. I've never touched a database. So I really don't know where to start with setting up a test server. I would really appreciate any advice about where to start. I am completely ignorant and lost here. The web application is built in python/django using a Postgresql database. I use Mac OS X 10.6 if that makes any difference.

    Sampling uniformly at random from an n-dimensional unit simplex is the fancy way to say that you want n random numbers such that they are all non-negative, they sum to one, and every possible vector of n non-negative numbers that sum to one are equally likely. In the n=2 case you want to sample uniformly from the segment of the line x+y=1 (ie, y=1-x) that is in the positive quadrant. In the n=3 case you're sampling from the triangle-shaped part of the plane x+y+z=1 that is in the positive octant of R3: (Image from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simplex.) Note that picking n uniform random numbers and then normalizing them so they sum to one does not work. You end up with a bias towards less extreme numbers. Similarly, picking n-1 uniform random numbers and then taking the nth to be one minus the sum of them also introduces bias. Wikipedia gives two algorithms to do this correctly: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simplex#Random_sampling (Though the second one currently claims to only be correct in practice, not in theory. I'm hoping to clean that up or clarify it when I understand this better. I initially stuck in a "WARNING: such-and-such paper claims the following is wrong" on that Wikipedia page and someone else turned it into the "works only in practice" caveat.) Finally, the question: What do you consider the best implementation of simplex sampling in Mathematica (preferably with empirical confirmation that it's correct)?     When I'm testing with WatiN, I like to save screenshots. Sometimes I don't really need a picture of the whole browser window though - I just want a picture of the element that I'm testing. My attempt to save a picture of an element with the code below resulted in a picture of a block box, because elementBounds.Top points to a pixel position way past the bottom of the screen. The elementBounds.Width and .Height values also appear to be about half what they should be.
