  Hello, I have Full Text catalog created in SQL Server 2005, when I search the text like "Bolivia's History", it returns all the result matching to that, but if I use "Bolivias History", it does not return anything, I am very new to Full Text Search stuff, any lead how to ignore the special character ("'"), in Full Text Search? • How to draw mixed-formatted text with .Net 2.0

  Hi, is there a way to draw mixed-formatted text in .Net 2.0? I'm looking for something similar to System.Drawing.Graphics.DrawString() My problem with this method is that it allows only one format style for the whole text. But I need to draw text that has different format styles (e.g. a part of the text shall be underlined, another part bold and so on). Thanks a lot! Oliver

  I want to use a field (kind of QTextEdit), which is capabale of storing picture and text (like MS Word is doing) and it serializes and deserialaizes picture+text data. Is there any Qt Widget that allows us to manipulate with picture and text simultaniously and it has set/get functions which operate with serializable type? In othger words, I want to know if there exsists any Qt widget that can store picture+text and has "get" types of function that returns the content of that widgets editable area, which is a Type that could be serialized with QDataStream.

• Linq To Text Files

  Hi All I have a Text File (Sorry, I'm not allowed to work on XML files :(), and it includes customer records. Each text file looks like: Account_ID: 98734BLAH9873 User Name: something_85 First Name: ILove Last Name: XML Age: 209 etc... And I need to be able to use LINQ to get the data from these text files and just store them in memory. I have seen many Linq to SQL, Linq to BLAH but nothing for Linq to Text. Can someone please help me out abit? Thank you

• HTML to 'pretty' text conversion for printing on text only printer (dot matrix)

  Hi, I have a web-site that generates some simple tabular data as html tables, many of my users print the web-page on a laser/inkjet printer; however some like to print on legacy Dot Matrix printers (text only) and there-in lies the problem. When giving Print from web-browser onto dot-matrix printer, the printer actually perceives data as 'graphic'/image and proceeds to print it dot-by-dot. i.e If printing a character 'C', printer slices it horizontally and prints in 3-4 passes. Same printer prints a text from an ASCII file (say from notepad) as complete characters in single pass, thereby being 5 times faster and much quieter than when printing a web-page. (Even tried 'generic text-only driver' but Mozilla Firefox has a know bug that it does not print anything over this particular driver since 2.0+) So is there some clean way of formatting an already generated HTML (say method takes the entire html table as string) and generates a corresponding text file with properly aligned columns? I have tried stripping the html tags, but the major issue there is performing good 'wrapping' of a cell's data and maintaining integrity of other cells' data (from same row). eg: ( '|' and '_' not really required) Col1 | Col2 | Colum_Name3 | Col4 | _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1 | this cell | this column | smaller | | is in three| spans 2 rows | | | rows | | | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2 | smaller now| this also | but this| | | | cell's | | | | data is | | | | now | | | | bigger | _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Could you please suggest preferred approach? • Configuration "diff" across Oracle WebCenter Sites instances

  Problem Statement With many Oracle WebCenter Sites environments - how do you know if the various configuration assets and settings are in sync across all of those environments? Background At Oracle we typically have a "W" shaped set of environments.  For the "Production" environments we typically have a disaster recovery clone as well and sometimes additional QA environments alongside the production management environment. In the case of www.java.com we have 10 different environments. All configuration assets/settings (CSElements, Templates, Start Menus etc..) start life on the Development Management environment and are then published downstream to other environments as part of the software development lifecycle. Ensuring that each of these 10 environments has the same set of Templates, CSElements, StartMenus, TreeTabs etc.. is impossible to do efficiently without automation. Solution Summary  The solution comprises of two components. A JSON data feed from each environment. A simple HTML page that consumes these JSON data feeds.  Data Feed: Create a JSON WebService on each environment. The WebService is no more than a SiteEntry + CSElement. The CSElement queries various DB tables to obtain details of the assets/settings returning this data in a JSON feed. Report: Create a simple HTML page that uses JQuery to fetch the JSON feed from each environment and display the results in a table. Since all assets (CSElements, Templates etc..) are published between environments they will have the same last modified date. If the last modified date of an asset is different in the JSON feed or is mising from an environment entirely then highlight that in the report table. Example Solution Details Step 1: Create a Site Entry + CSElement that outputs JSON Site Entry & CSElement Setup  The SiteEntry should be uncached so that the most recent configuration information is returned at all times. In the CSElement set the contenttype accordingly: Step 2: Write the CSElement Logic The basic logic, that we repeat for each asset or setting that we are interested in, is to query the DB using <ics:sql> and then loop over the resultset with <ics:listloop>. It is impossible to keep documentation up-to-date when responsibility for the document is not clearly understood.Key to the Tutor methodology, therefore, is the concept of ownership. Each document has a single owner, who is responsible for ensuring that the document is necessary and that it reflects actual practice. The owner must be a person who is knowledgeable about the activity and who has the authority to build consensus among the persons who participate in the activity as well as the authority to define or change the way an activity is performed. The owner must be an advocate of the performers and negotiate, not dictate practices.In the Tutor environment, a document's owner is the only person with the authority to approve an update to that document. 4. Centralize Publishing Although it is tempting (especially in a networked environment and with document management software solutions) to decentralize the control of all documents -- with each owner updating and distributing his own -- Tutor promotes centralized publishing by assigning the Document Administrator (gate keeper) to manage the updates and distribution of the procedures library. 5. Establish a Document Maintenance Process Up Front (and stick to it) Everyone in your organization should know they are invited to suggest changes to procedures and should understand exactly what steps to take to do so. Tutor provides a set of procedures to help your company set up a healthy document control system. There are many document management products available to automate some of the document change and maintenance steps. Depending on the size of your organization, a simple document management system can reduce the effort it takes to track and distribute document changes and updates. Whether your company decides to store the written policies and procedures on a file server or in a database, the essential tasks for maintaining documents are the same, though some tasks are automated. 6. Document Critical Activities Only The best way to keep your documentation simple is to reduce the number of process documents to a bare minimum and to include in those documents only as much detail as is absolutely necessary. The first step to reducing process documentation is to document only those activities that are deemed critical. Not all activities require documentation. In fact, some critical activities cannot and should not be standardized. Others may be sufficiently documented with an instruction or a checklist and may not require a procedure. A document should only be created when it enhances the performance of the employee performing the activity. If it does not help the employee, then there is no reason to maintain the document. Activities that represent little risk (such as project status), activities that cannot be defined in terms of specific tasks (such as product research), and activities that can be performed in a variety of ways (such as advertising) often do not require documentation. Sometimes, an activity will evolve to the point where documentation is necessary. For example, an activity performed by single employee may be straightforward and uncomplicated -- that is, until the activity is performed by multiple employees. Sometimes, it is the interaction between co-workers that necessitates documentation; sometimes, it is the complexity or the diversity of the activity.7. Document Actual Practices The only reason to maintain process documentation is to enhance the performance of the employee performing the activity. And documentation can only enhance performance if it reflects reality -- that is, current best practice. Documentation that reflects an unattainable ideal or outdated practices will end up on the shelf, unused and forgotten.Documenting actual practice means (1) auditing the activity to understand how the work is really performed, (2) identifying best practices with employees who are involved in the activity, (3) building consensus so that everyone agrees on a common method, and (4) recording that consensus.8. Minimize Documentation One way to keep it simple is to document at the highest level possible. That is, include in your documents only as much detail as is absolutely necessary.When writing a document, you should ask yourself, What is the purpose of this document? That is, what problem will it solve?By focusing on this question, you can target the critical information.• What questions are the end users likely to have?• What level of detail is required?• Is any of this information extraneous to the document's purpose? Short, concise documents are user friendly and they are easier to keep up to date. 9. Support Continuous Improvement Employees who perform an activity are often in the best position to identify improvements to the process. In other words, continuous improvement is a natural byproduct of the work itself -- but only if the improvements are communicated to all employees who are involved in the process, and only if there is consensus among those employees.Traditionally, process documentation has been used to dictate performance, to limit employees' actions. In the Tutor environment, process documents are used to communicate improvements identified by employees. How does this work? The Tutor methodology requires a process document to reflect actual practice, so the owner of a document must routinely audit its content -- does the document match what the employees are doing? If it doesn't, the owner has the responsibility to evaluate the process, to build consensus among the employees, to identify "best practices," and to communicate these improvements via a document update. Continuous improvement can also be an outgrowth of corrective action -- but only if the solutions to problems are communicated effectively. The goal should be to solve a problem once and only once, which means not only identifying the solution, but ensuring that the solution becomes part of the process. The Tutor system provides the method through which improvements and solutions are documented and communicated to all affected employees in a cost-effective, timely manner; it ensures that improvements are not lost or confined to a single employee. 10. Keep it Simple Process documents don't have to be complex and unfriendly. In fact, the simpler the format and organization, the more likely the documents will be used. And the simpler the method of maintenance, the more likely the documents will be kept up-to-date. Keep it simply by:• Minimizing skills and training required• Following the established Tutor document format and layout• Avoiding technology just for technology's sake No other rule has as major an impact on the success of your internal documentation as -- keep it simple. • Error on clicking on Text to Speech tab in Speech properties in Control Panel

  When I click on Text to Speech tab in Speech properties I receive error: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Speech\sapi.cpl",Speech". There's a hotfix mentioned the the KBs in MS support.For that MS sent me a password protected file ; 170483_ENU_i386_zip.exe which contained two files : WindowsXP-KB838659-x86-ENU.EXE and WINDOWSXP-KB838659-X86-ENU-Symbols.EXE . The first one did not install as it said i already had it and the second one unpacked some dlls which i don't know how to use. I also tried Re-registering sapi.dll on Windows XP using C:\Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe Is there any other fix to this error?

• Fixing Corrupted Text

  I Have text which looks like this: supposed to undergo yearly cardiac exam in order to stay on transplant list. But, there are patients who are missing important cardiac information. It is yo ur job as an intern on call to make sure that you fin As you can see, the first line is fine, but then the second line is corrupt. It looks like this even when I open it using Vim or LibreOffice. Is there a way to fix this? I've tried changing the encoding to UTF-8 but to no avail. Thanks!

• Text Terminal Hardware (for Linux)

  Is there any way to obtain a hardware text terminal (preferably small in size) with a screen and a keypad to connect to a Linux machine (preferably via usb)? I'd like to be able to log into a command line and do some work there while simultaneously running a graphical environment on the main display. It seems like there should be some kind of lcd screen and qwerty keypad device designed for this purpose. Does this exist, and how do I get one? Edit: I'd be happy with a small networked device as well, as long as I could get a remote terminal into my computer.

• vim command palette, similar to sublime text

  In sublime text, we can press ??P to bring up the command palette. Are there any similar tools for vim? I’ve been trying vim-ctrlp-cmdpalette, and although it works relatively well (there are some small issues), it depends on ctrlp (not a huge problem), and it looks like it won’t see much development (it has 14 commits over the course of 3 days, 5 months ago, for an “Initial experimental version”), so I was wondering if there are any known alternatives, since searching for “vim command palette” is a bit limiting; maybe there are some other terms more appropriate for this.

• Mac OS X - Quickly change voices for Text-to-Speech

  I love the text to Speech feature of Mac OS X. Since I'm not a native English speaker I'm very happy about all the additional languages added since Lion came out. However, I do use English as well as my native language (German). Changing voices is a bit of a pain. It just requires too many steps to be comfortable. Is there any way to make this easy? I was looking for shortcuts, maybe a drop down menu somwhere up in the right corner, anything would be fine. Since my search was not successful, I hope to find some advice here on SuperUser. • How to build compass in sublime text 2

  I downloaded this package which allows use to build compass in though sublime text by pressing cmd+b. I created a sass file, made sure compass is selected from the tools build system compass menu. But when I press cmd+b the file does not compile and I get no error. I only get [Finished in 0.0s with exit code 1]. However I also tested to build the code with sass (tools build system sass) and it works fine. Do I need to do anything to the sass file for compass to work. Thanks

• Change default text editor for crontab to vim

  I'm using ubuntu 9.10 and the default text editor is nano, which i hate. (doesn't everyone?) Normally it's not a problem as i just vi or gedit everything but crontab -e is opening with nano. I tried changing it to vim using sudo update-alternatives --config editor and selecting option 3 ("/usr/bin/vim.basic"). This has changed it for sudo and non-sudo alike. But crontab -e still opens nano. Any ideas? max

  So I have several large text files I need to sort through, and remove all occurrences of lines which contain a given keyword. So basically, if I have these lines: This is not a test This is a test Maybe a test Definitely not a test And I run the script with 'not', I need to entirely delete lines 1 and 4. I've been trying with: PS C:\Users\Admin> (Get-Content "D:\Logs\co2.txt") | Foreach-Object {$_ -replace "3*Program*", ""} | Set-Content "D:\Logs\co2.txt" but it only replaces the 'Program' and not the entire line.

• Login as SYS user to Oracle 11g from .NET

  Using the Oracle Data Provider for .NET, my application connects to the database using the privileged SYS user. The connection string is as follows: Data Source=MyTnsName;User ID=sys;Password=MySysPassword;DBA Privilege=SYSDBA This works fine with Oracle 10, but Oracle 11 keeps complaining about an invalid username or password. I verified that the password is correct - other apps work fine with the same credentials. Note that for regular users (without the DBA Privilege part), connecting to Oracle 11 works perfectly. So, what's wrong? Update: This is not an issue with case sensitivity - when constructing the connection string, the password case is not altered by my code, and the password works fine with other, non-.NET-applications. I suspect that this might be caused by the Oracle 10 client I'm using to connect to the 11 database. Oracle states that the client is upward-compatible, the only drawback being that you cannot use some new features of the database. However, SYSDBA connections clearly are not a new Oracle 11 feature, and - again - a non-.NET-app (Keeptool Hora) can connect using the same setup. Any other ideas? Update 2: The problem persists when using an Oracle 11 client :-(
