• Updating DataGridView from another Form using BackGroundWorker

  Hi! I Have one Form (LoginForm) which has a Background Worker Monitoring a database for new entries. Then I have another Form (AdminForm) which I need to signal to update its datagrids whenever new data is available. I could poll the database in the AdminForm too, but considering that LoginForm is already doing some polling, which can be costly, I just want to signal AdminForm to update the DataGridViews with the new data. You may ask, why is LoginForm doing the polling when youre showing the stuff in the AdminForm? Well, LoginForm is actually processing the data and sending it over the Serial Port :$ heheh. I want it to be able to process the data without having an administrator logged in all the time.

• newbie: how to upload images from a form with PHP and mySQL

  I'm creating a web app (locally, so security doesn't matter) in PHP where the user uploads a set of information and a small .jpeg, which is then inserted into a mySQL table. I can do this no problem with all the text data, but I'm not sure how to cause the image to upload alongside it. I assume I will have to use the blob data type and input type="file", but I fooled around with that a little bit and the solution doesn't seem to be an intuitive extension of how input type="text" works. Do I need to do a lot more PHP scripting to get this to work? Is it possible to upload an image with a form, or is there a necessary intermediate step?

  I have a form with checkboxes, each one has a value. When the registered user select any checkbox the value is incremented (the summation) and then then registred user save his selection of checkbox if he satisfied with the result of summation into database all this work fine ...i want to enable the registred user to view his selection history by retriving and displaying the checkboxes he selected in a page with thier values ... How I can do that? I'm just able to save the selected checkboxes as choice 1, choice 2, for example .. I want to view the selected checkboxes that is saved in database as the appear in the page when the user first select them: for example if the registred user selects these 3 options LEAD DEEP KEEL (1825) FULLY BATTENED MAINSAIL (558) TEAK SIDE DECKS (2889) They will be saved as for example (choice1, choice2, choice3).   I'm creating thumbnails cycling through a lot of images, when I find a large image I get: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 13056 bytes) Now I already know how to circumvent this with: ini_set('memory_limit', '-1'); What I want to know is why it exhaust the memory! Is there some debug tools that will show me exactly when memory is exhausting? And specifically that will show me if there are variables/arrays that are killing my memory? OR, are there better way to resize images other then: $thumb=imagecreatetruecolor($newwidth,$newheight); $source=imagecreatefromjpeg($imgfile); imagecopyresampled($thumb,$source,0,0,0,0,$newwidth,$newheight,$width,$height); imagejpeg($thumb,$destinationfile,85); ? • GD! Converting a png image to jpeg and making the alpha by default white and not black.

  I tried something like this but it just makes the background of the image white, not necessarily the alpha of the image. • PHP photo gallery with multiple upload form

  Hi everyone, I am trying to develop a PHP driven gallery with a form that has at least four file upload boxes, each with its own title and caption. I have been using php.upload.class to process uploaded photos but not sure how I would go about handling each individual upload while preserving its details (title, caption). Is there a practical way to do this or should I instead upload just the photos and then have the user add titles and captions on the next page? Any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated. I know that i can use the HTML HELPER (.labelfor(.. .inputTextFor(... ) ..but i don't like to write the html tags around the fields and labels ( ... ) I want that all the form in my application look similar and, if a change is needed i want to make it in one place ( ex in the "FormComponentFactory()" for example ) I created my own FormComponent but i find myself reinvent the wheel..

I removed my javascript that automatically refreshes the page to make sure that wasn't refreshing before anything was submitted somehow. Could the difference in IE7 have to do with the fact that the domain of the form (forms.netsuite.com) is different than the domain of the parent page(checkout.netsuite.com) and it's being submitted over HTTPS?

  I am looking at a bug in WebSVN where when I get into a file log and click on compare, it looses the repository name as part of the request. The details are unimportant. However, I've tracked down the bug to a http form that looks like this: <form method="get" action="comp.php?repname=Binaries&amp;" id="compare"> .... <input type="hidden" name="KEY" value="VALUE"> Is this supposed to work? Will both the "repname" argument, specified as part of the URL, and the hidden value be sent? It seems Chrome 4.1 only sends the hidden argument, and removes the repname parameter altogether. Is this correct? I fixed it temporarily, pending more information, by adding another hidden field for repname with the same value, and now everything works, I'm just wondering if Chrome or WebSVN is in fault here.

• Very strange form behaviour

  I can't work this out. One minute it was working fine and now it's not and I can't see what's changed!! My problem is simply submitting a username and password for a login function. The form method is set to "post" but for some reason no data is getting through. If I dump $_REQUEST or $_POST they return empty. I know the form is submitting because if I change the method to "get" I receive the data as expected. Can anyone think of any reason why "get" would work when "post" isn't?!?!? If it's relevant, I'm using the codeigniter framework.

  Hello all, I have three weeks to perform the following basic task. I wish to create an online form in PHP that will get 5 numbers and with them: save the numbers to a MySQL DB do a simple computation on the numbers and return them as an output to the visitor I already have a domain, hosting and a MySQL database+user. I don't know PHP, or SQL or databases. I do have prior knowledge in C and R (which means I have some of the basics of programming, and I am not intimidated of a new languages). My question are: Am I missing something? is there some other skill I should have for this task that I don't know of? What is a good way to learn the skills needed for the task I described? Hope the question isn't too basic/general. Thanks!

I use jQuery to allow the the user to select which videos they would like to add to their profile. When i submit the form i would like to populate the hidden field with a comma separated list of video ids. Everything works except that when i try to set the value of the field, in the controller on post, the field comes back empty. I am using the jQuery ajax form plugin. What am i doing wrong that is not allowing the value i set in the field to be sent to the server?
