  • Why doesn't this UIButton show its text label?

    - by Dan Ray
    Everything about this UIButton renders great except the text that's supposed to be on it. NSLog demonstrates that the text is in the right place. What gives? UIButton *newTagButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; [newTagButton addTarget:self action:@selector(showNewTagField) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; newTagButton.titleLabel.text = @"+ New Tag"; NSLog(@"Just set button label to %@", newTagButton.titleLabel.text); newTagButton.titleLabel.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:17]; newTagButton.titleLabel.textColor = [UIColor redColor]; CGSize addtextsize = [newTagButton.titleLabel.text sizeWithFont:[UIFont systemFontOfSize:17]]; CGSize buttonsize = { (addtextsize.width + 20), (addtextsize.height * 1.2) }; newTagButton.frame = CGRectMake(x, y, buttonsize.width, buttonsize.height); [self.mainView addSubview:newTagButton];

  • UITabBarController with viewControllers utilizing different orientations?

    - by RickiG
    Hi I can see that this is something that has been troubling a lot of people:/ I have a UITabBarController that has 4 viewControllers, all of type UINavigationController. One of the navigationControllers gets a viewController pushed onto its stack, this viewController should be presented in landscape mode/orientation. The viewController is a graph, it is the absolutely only place in the app where landscape makes sense. (I hide the UITabBar when this is presented to not lead the user to believe this will work everywhere) To make a UITabBarController respond correctly to changes in orientation all its viewControllers need to return the same value from the delegate method: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation So to accomodate this behavior I have implemented this method in all the viewControllers belonging to the UITabBarController: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; BOOL canRotate = [defaults boolForKey:@"can_rotate"]; return canRotate; } The "trick" is now that when my can-be-landscape viewController is pushed I do this: - (void) viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [defaults setBool:YES forKey:@"can_rotate"]; [defaults synchronize]; } and when it is popped, I do this: - (void) viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [defaults setBool:NO forKey:@"can_rotate"]; [defaults synchronize]; } This works really well. When the viewController is on the stack I can rotate the device and the view follows. The problem is however, that if the user taps the "back" button on the navigationBar while in landscape mode, thus popping the viewController to the previous viewController, this "old" viewController is of course also in landscape mode. To make things worse, because I set the BOOL to NO, this "old" viewController can not rotate back when I orientate the device to portrait mode. Is there a way to update everything so that none of my other viewControllers will be in landscape mode when I pop the can-be-in-landscape mode viewController? I am a bit worried that if this could be done from landscape to portrait it should also be possible from portrait to landscape, thus making my "hack" unnecessary.. but if it can not, then I am back to square one :/ Hope I am close and that someone could help me get there, thanks:)

  • sqlite issue using WHERE statement on a varchar field in Objective-C

    - by Geykel
    Hi, I have this sql statement SELECT * FROM Language WHERE LanguageCode=? where LanguageCode is a varchar(2). When I use sqlite3-prepare-v2 on that statement I got SQLITE_ERROR but if I use SELECT * FROM Language WHERE LanguageID=? where LanguageID is the primary key numeric identity field the statement compiles just fine. Is there any issue filtering by a varchar field using WHERE statement? Thanks

  • Selection on table view causes parent view to change

    - by Tereno
    Hi there, I'm working on an iPad app and here's my scenario: I have a view which contains a table view inside of it. When the user selects an item on the table view, I would like the parent's view to change in a navigational manner. For those of you that have an iPad, this would be akin to the "Settings" app. But I guess in the "Settings" app, the right pane is composed of a grouped table view right? Is what I'm trying to do possible? Thanks

  • changing sounds when objects meet

    - by blacksheep
    i'd like to change sounds when tapping on an image and drag another image over several others. it is not working properly: the "MoveImage" is not dragable, the tapping is working outside the "TouchImage" and the sounds do not change when tapping on it. (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ UITouch *touch = [[event allTouches] anyObject]; CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:touch.view]; if(((CGRectContainsPoint(myTouchImage.frame, location)), (CGRectIntersectsRect(myMoveImage.frame,myImage_1.frame)))) { [sound_E play]; } if (((CGRectContainsPoint(myTouchImage.frame, location)), (CGRectIntersectsRect(myMoveImage.frame,myImage_2.frame)))) { [sound_F play]; } if (((CGRectContainsPoint(myTouchImage.frame, location)), (CGRectIntersectsRect(myMoveImage.frame,myImage_3.frame)))) { [sound_D play]; } if (((CGRectContainsPoint(myTouchImage.frame, location)), (CGRectIntersectsRect(myMoveImage.frame,myImage_4.frame)))) { [sound_Dis play]; } } (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [[event allTouches] anyObject]; CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:touch.view]; if (CGRectContainsPoint(myMoveImage.frame, location)){ CGPoint yLocation = CGPointMake(myMoveImage.center.x,location.y); myMoveImage.center = yLocation; } if(CGRectIntersectsRect(myMoveImage.frame,myImage_1.frame)) { E_NOTE.text = @"E"; } if(CGRectIntersectsRect(myMoveImage.frame,myImage_2.frame)) { F_NOTE.text = @"F"; } if(CGRectIntersectsRect(myMoveImage.frame,myImage_3.frame)) { D_NOTE.text = @"D"; } if(CGRectIntersectsRect(myMoveImage.frame,myImage_4.frame)) { Dis_NOTE.text = @"D#"; } }

  • Masking to Transparent returns empty image

    - by Tibi
    Hi there, I'm trying to put white color in my images to transparent with the following code. Problem is that "CGImageRef maskedTransparent" is blank. I don't understand because the code I'm using is nearly a copy paste from the doc ... Any idea ? (UIImage*) maskImage:(UIImage *)image withMask:(UIImage *)maskImage { CGImageRef maskRef = maskImage.CGImage; CGImageRef mask = CGImageMaskCreate(CGImageGetWidth(maskRef), CGImageGetHeight(maskRef), CGImageGetBitsPerComponent(maskRef), CGImageGetBitsPerPixel(maskRef), CGImageGetBytesPerRow(maskRef), CGImageGetDataProvider(maskRef), NULL, false); CGImageRef masked = CGImageCreateWithMask([image CGImage], mask); //Array defining min & max RGB values to be transformed to transparent colors. float maskingMinMax[6] = {255, 255, 255, 255, 255, 255}; //masking image to remove range in maskinLinMax CGImageRef maskedTransparent = CGImageCreateWithMaskingColors(masked, maskingMinMax); return [UIImage imageWithCGImage:maskedTransparent]; }

    - by SimpleCode

  • NavBar displaying back twice when app changed to landscape mode

    - by Graeme
    Hi, Not sure what's going on here, but my iPhone apps nav bar shows back and the title of my detail view controller even when I'm back to the original view. It wasn't happening earlier, it has changed recently (but not sure when exactly). E.g. I click on a row, view the didSelectRow XIB and then click back on the NavBar controller, but it still shows back even though the view does change back to the original table view. I then have to press back again and then it clears. Update: It's as if its trying to go back three times instead of two. Because, if you visit another row without removing the back button, it stores it as if you need to go back twice. It works fine in portrait mode. Any ideas?

  • Don't launch application from widget

    - by Brian515
    Hi all, I'm trying to make an appwidget where I have a dialog pop up on top of the home screen. (Ex the Facebook widget). I have button on the widget and an activity that I run when the button is clicked. I have the activity set to the Theme.Translucent.NoTitleBar theme so that the dialog and/or toast I have should pop up over the home screen. Anyways, whenever I have the transparent activity open, it opens the application instead of staying on the home screen. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • Adding back button to navigation bar

    - by 4thSpace
    I've added a navigation bar to a UIViewController. It is displayed from another UIViewController only. I'd like to have a left side back button that is shaped similar to an arrow, just like the normal navigation bar back button. It seems I can only add a bar button through IB. I'm guessing the back button needs to be added programmatically. Any suggestions on how I should do this?

  • Programatically get own Phone Number in iPhone OS 4.0

    - by sandy
    I am developing an iPhone application for jail broken phones and in this application I would like to fetch user's phone number. I have gone through the entire stackoverflow.com and found some relevant answers but all of them are obsolete and doesn't work with iOS 4.0 anymore. The most famous solution for this problem is NSString *num = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] stringForKey:@"SBFormattedPhoneNumber"]; but as I mentioned this solution no more works with iOS 4.0 As my application is intended towards the jail broken phones and not intended the Apple app store so I am not worried about my app rejection, hence any private API will also work for me. Also please let me know if we can fetch IMSI number from SIM using any private APIs of iPhone

  • Urban Airship - not receivng push notifications on device?

    - by Silent
    I just installed everything to my app and tried to push, but no messages appear. The token for my device is saved so that's working. When I push, the website says it sent, but no message are received on the device. Right now I'm using a production certificate for push notifications, with a developer provision and not the distribution certificate. I tried cleaning the build and reinstalling but no luck since an extra app was installed from the same one. I used the code that is on the sample file tutorial, I think that's all the details. Don't know what to do next.

The problem is that i could send the data to a view and could display it on a label. But i couldnt bind the dat to table view ... Here's some of the code snippets... Buy Button... -(IBAction)Buybutton{ /* UIAlertView *alert =[[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle:@"thank u" message:@"products" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"ok" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release];*/ Product *selectedProduct = [[data products]objectAtIndex:0]; CartViewController *cartviewcontroller = [[[CartViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"CartViewController" bundle:nil]autorelease]; cartviewcontroller.product= selectedProduct; //NSString *productname=[product ProductName]; //[currentproducts setproduct:productname]; [self.view addSubview:cartviewcontroller.view]; } CartView... // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; data = [GlobalData SharedData]; NSMutableArray *prod =[[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; prod = [data products]; for(NSDictionary *product in prod) { Cart *myprod = [[Cart alloc]init]; myprod.Description = [product Description]; myprod.ProductImage =[product ProductImage]; myprod.ProductName = [product ProductName]; myprod.SalePrice = [product SalePrice]; [data.carts addObject:myprod]; [myprod release]; } Cart *cart = [[data carts]objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *productname=[cart ProductName]; self.label.text =productname; NSLog(@"carts"); } (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [data.carts count]; } -(CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return 75; } (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSLog(@"cellforrow"); static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; ProductCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if(cell ==nil) { cell = [[[ProductCell alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier]autorelease]; } NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; Cart *cart = [[data carts]objectAtIndex:row]; cell.productNameLabel.text = [cart ProductName]; /*NSString *sale = [[NSString alloc]initWithFormat:@"SalePrice:%@",[cart SalePrice]]; cell.salePriceLabel.text = sale; cell.DescriptionLabel.text = [cart Description]; NSMutableString imageUrl =[NSMutableString string]; [imageUrl appendFormat:@"http://demo.s2commerce.net/DesktopModules/S2Commerce/Images/Products/%@",[product ProductImage]]; NSLog(@"imageurl:%@",imageUrl); NSString mapURL = [imageUrl stringByReplacingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; NSData* imageData = [[NSData alloc]initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:mapURL]]; UIImage* image = [[UIImage alloc]initWithData:imageData]; cell.productImageview.image = image; [imageData release]; [image release];*/ return cell; } I am also getting the following error in the console 2010-06-11 18:34:29.169 navigation[4109:207] * -[CartViewController tableView:numberOfRowsInSection:]: message sent to deallocated instance 0xcb4d4f90

  • CGContextDrawImage returning bad access

    - by Marcelo
    Hello guys, I've been trying to blend two UIImage for about 2 days now and I've been getting some BAD_ACCESS errors. First of all, I have two images that have the same orientation, basically I'm using the CoreGraphics to do the blending. One curious detail, everytime I modify the code, the first time I compile and run it on device, I get to do everything I want without any sort of trouble. Once I restart the application, I get error and the program shuts down. Can anyone give me a light? I tried accessing the baseImage sizes dynamically, but it gives me bad access too. Here's a snippet of how I'm doing the blending. UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(CGSizeMake(320, 480)); CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 0, 480); CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1.0, -1.0); CGContextDrawImage(context, rect, [baseImage CGImage]); CGContextSetBlendMode(context, kCGBlendModeOverlay); CGContextDrawImage(context, rect, [tmpImage CGImage]); [transformationView setImage:UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext()]; UIGraphicsEndImageContext();

  • Rotation of ViewController in TabbarController

    - by hanno
    I have a custom UIViewController in a UITabbarController and want to respond to rotation events. When a rotation occurs, the tabbarcontroller and the viewcontroller get rotated. However, the view in the viewcontroller doesn't get redrawn properly: the layout doesn't autoresize and it is black on parts of the screen. The strange thing is that it works when I go to another tab and the back again to my original viewcontroller. What could possibly be wrong? I checked that didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:fromInterfaceOrientation is being called. However, the view.frame.size values are still the old ones from before the rotation. That's probably not correct.

  • iphone simulator crashes when it tries to access user location

    - by kevin Mendoza
    for some reason my code causes my program to crash. does anyone know why or how to fix it? NSLog(@"here"); CLLocation *location = [locationManager location]; [mapView removeAnnotations:mapView.annotations]; NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; CLLocationCoordinate2D workingCoordinate = [location coordinate]; NSLog(@" this is %@", workingCoordinate.latitude); it makes it to the first NSLog, but somewhere between the first and second it crashes. My guess is that it has to do with the CLLocation *location line.
