• Cisco ASA: How to route PPPoE-assigned subnet?

  We've just received a fiber uplink, and I'm trying to configure our Cisco ASA 5505 to properly use it. The provider requires us to connect via PPPoE, and I managed to configure the ASA as a PPPoE client and establish a connection. The ASA is assigned an IP address by PPPoE, and I can ping out from the ASA to the internet, but I should have access to an entire /28 subnet. I can't figure out how to get that subnet configured on the ASA, so that I can route or NAT the available public addresses to various internal hosts. My assigned range is: 188.xx.xx.176/28 The address I get via PPPoE is 188.xx.xx.177/32, which according to our provider is our Default Gateway address. They claim the subnet is correctly routed to us on their side. How does the ASA know which range it is responsible for on the Fiber interface? How do I use the addresses from my range? To clarify my config; The ASA is currently configured to default-route to our ADSL uplink on port Ethernet0/0 (interface vlan2, nicknamed Outside). The fiber is connected to port Ethernet0/2 (interface vlan50, nicknamed Fiber) so I can configure and test it before making it the default route. Once I'm clear on how to set it all up, I'll fully replace the Outside interface with Fiber. • Cisco ASA Site-to-Site VPN Dropping

  I have three sites, Toronto (1.1.1.1), Mississauga (2.2.2.2) and San Francisco (3.3.3.3). All three sites have ASA 5520. All the sites are connected together with two site-to-site VPN links between each other location. My issue is that the tunnel between Toronto and San Francisco is very unstable, dropping every 40 min to 60 mins. The tunnel between Toronto and Mississauga (which is configured in the same manner) is fine with no drops. I also noticed that my pings with drop but the ASA thinks that the tunnel is still up and running. Here is the configuration of the tunnel.   I ran into an error message in SharePoint 2010 that took me a few minutes to figure out.  I was working on a demo of SharePoint 2010’s managed metadata and getting an error when I was adding a Managed Metadata column to a library.  A little Google research turned up this blog post: The Taxonomy feature (Feature ID "73EF14B1-13A9-416b-A9B5-ECECA2B0604C") has not been activated. As Michal Pisarek pointed out last June, you get the error because the Taxonomy feature isn’t activated.  Like Michal, I’m not sure how this happened to my installation, but the fix he documented works. (Activating the feature using STSADM)

• Programs don't have permissions when using absolute path

  I have asked this on askubuntu but didn't get a single response in days, so I will try it here. I have directory structure like this: /path/dir1 - all users in group1 must have rwx permissions, including subdirs and newly created dirs /path/dir1/dir2 - also users in group2 must have rwx permissions So what I tried is that I used ACL. getfacl /path/dir1 # file: /path/dir1 # owner: root # group: nogroup user::rwx group::--- group:group1:rwx mask::rwx other::--- default:user::rwx default:group::--- default:group:group1:rwx default:mask::rwx default:other::--- getfacl /path/dir1/dir2 # file: /path/dir1/dir2 # owner: root # group: nogroup user::rwx group::--- group:group1:rwx group:group2:rwx mask::rwx other::--- default:user::rwx default:group::--- default:group:group1:rwx default:group:group2:rwx default:mask::rwx default:other::--- That shows that I have granted rwx to group1 in /path/dir1 and rwx to group1 and group2 in /path/dir1/dir2. Now it gets interesting. Let's assume, that user2 is member of group2. If I issue commands as user2: cd /path/dir1/dir2 mkdir foo Then folder is succesfully created. However, if I do this: mkdir /path/dir1/dir2/foo I get permission denied error. I have tried extensively to resolve the problem. What I have found is that ACL is to blame. If I add permissions to group2 in /path/dir1 it starts to work. Also if I completely remove /path/dir1 ACL it starts to work. Obviously I am missing something VERY basic. I don't have much experience with linux, but this is a no-brainer on Windows. I have spent way too many hours to resolve this basic requirement. If you need more information, I will try to update the question, so feel free to ask!

  One of the New User Interface Platforms in SharePoint 2010 is ‘The Dialog Platform’ A dialog is essentially a <div> which gets visible on demand and renders the HTML using a background overlay creating a modal dialog like user experience. We can show an existing div from within the page or a different page using a URL inside the dialogs. When we pass the URL to the dialog it looks for the Querystring parameter “IsDlg=1”. If this parameters exists than it would dynamically load the "/_layouts/styles/dlgframe.css” file. This file overrides the “s4-notdlg” class items as “display:none”, which means that all items with this class would not get displayed in Dialog Mode.  So if we go to the v4.master page we can see that this class is used by the Ribbon control to hide the ribbon when in dialog mode: How to open the Edit Form Dialog for List Item: In SharePoint 2010 The URL for opening the Edit Form of any list item looks like something like this : http://intranet.contoso.com/<SiteName>/Lists/<ListName>/EditForm.aspx?ID=1&IsDlg=1 ID is the list item row identifier and as discussed above the IsDlg is for the dialog mode. • SPFileVersionCollection - why versions are sorted in mixed order?

  SPFileVersionCollection and SPListItemVersionCollection versioning seems inconsistent to me. Inconsistency wouldn't be a problem to me, but sort order is. SPListItemVersionCollection I can understand versioning of ListItems as they are stored in descending order: SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions.Count -> 5 SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions[0].VersionId -> 1026 (2.2 latest version) SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions[1].VersionId -> 1025 (2.1) SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions[2].VersionId -> 1024 (2.0) ... [4].VersionId -> (oldest version) SPFileVersionCollection However I can't understand how version numbers are saved for a document library item: SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions.Count -> 4 SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[0].ID -> 512 (1.0 oldest one) SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[1].ID -> 513 (1.1) SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[2].ID -> 1025 (2.1 latest version) SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[3].ID -> 1024 (2.0 (EDIT: IsCurrentVersion = True)) They are nor in ascending order, nor descending, but something mixed. Is there any reason for SharePoint team to decide to store SPFile versions like that? And do they expect that I write my own method to get latest version or is there a builtin one for that? See details in log. Exception message: List does not exist The page you selected contains a list that does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user.. If I change the ControlMode to Edit, the values are displayed correctly. So how do I get it to work while in Display mode?

• Updating Workflow Task without Correlation Token

  I have inhertied a sequential sharepoint workflow which deals with multiple tasks for different people; multi step approval based on certain condition..For each approval new task is created and monitored...For some reason; we have decided to use single task for the whole workflow and the single task will get assigned to required person at different stages...this will help us reduce the cluter in the task list For refactoring it; I am trying to create "CreateOrUpdateTaskAndWaitForCompletition" activity...so that I can use this component multiple times as per given workflow. Create/Wait branch of my activity works fine; as I have the correlation token within the activity. But when I try two instances of this activity; task is created in first activity and it needs to be updated in second instance where I dont have the correlation token. In the second instance; (Update/Wait branch) I have tried updating the task through code activity but its not working and I am getting "This task is currently locked by a running workflow and cannot be edited" exception! Can I use UpdateTask activity without correlation token? Can I programmatically update the workflow task? Can I programmatically unlock the workflow task?

• Crawler do not create custom crawled properties

  These days i have faced with very strange problem. I have development environment with MOSS 2007 SP 2 and WS 2008, i have search configured and everything works great. I have started to configuring staging environment (MOSS 2007 SP2 with June CU) and create new farm and new SSP. I have deployed my changes with package (wsp) and manually create site collections, sub webs, pages and so on. When fill crawl finishes, i see in Crawl log that all my pages have been successfully crawled and when i use some test tools to query search, my pages have been found. In crawl log there is few errors like http://mysite/sites/de/pages "The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured correctly..", but all pages in this Page library were indexed. The problem is that i use custom managed properties (mapped to custom crawled properties) in search queries, but crawler didn't create crawled properties for all my new site columns. For example for site column IsAccent the crawler didn't create cralwed property ows_isAccesnt. I'm sure that i have created pages for specific content type and all my crawl categories have checked "Automatically discover new properties when a crawl takes place ". In site settings - Searchable columns i haven't got any column selected as Nocrowl. I tried to export my managed and crawled properties from dev environment to stage evironment but all my managed properties were empty, after that i recreated SSP...the result was the same... I checked specific page with tools like Sharepoint Manager 2007 and U2U Caml Query Builder 2007 that content type is correct, and i can see values of my custom site collumns.... Using U2U Caml Query Builder 2007 agains some Page library in Result tab i can see ows_IsAccent (my site collumn is IsAccent) and others site columns, but i can't find them in Crawled properties. Any idias?

• How to implement reject in parallel approval workflow?

  I develop a SharePoint workflow with a Replicator activity to replicate a custom activity for every approver. The custom activity implements an approval branch for a particular user. It has classic form with CreateTask, While, OnTaskChanged and CompleteTask activities. I setup UntilCondition on the replicator to cancel execution after one approver chooses to reject the approval and then workflow finishes. The problem happens with other uncompleted tasks which "hang" in their current state. User does not see this state when open the task. I put UpdateAllTasks after the replacator to set the task status to Cancelled. But since there is no event activities between CompleteTask (for the rejected task) and UpdateAllTasks, the UpdateAllTask activity set Cancelled for the rejected task also. The question, what can I do to flush the pending change made by CompleteTask before UpdateAllTasks? Or perhaps, there is another way to implement such workflow. I was thinking about the way to implement Cancel handler for the custom activity with UpdateTask. But I do not know how to implement it and tell to the cancel handler that it executes in the case of the rejection.

• Call long running operation in WSS feature OnActivated Event

  More specifically - How do I reference SPContext in Web Service with [SoapDocumentMethod(OneWay=true)]? We are creating a feature that needs to run a job when a site is created. The job takes about 4 minutes to complete. So, we made a web service that we can call when the feature is activated. This works but we want it to run asynchronously now. We've found the SoapDocumentMethod's OneWay property and that would work awesomely but the SPContext is now NULL. We have our web services in the _vti_bin virtual directory so it's available in each Windows Sharepoint Services site. I was using the SPContext.Current.Web to get the site and perform the long running operation. I wanted to just fire and forget about it by returning a soap response right away and letting the process run. How can I get the current SPContext? I used to be able to do this in my web service: SPWeb mySite = SPContext.Current.Web; Can I get the same context when I have the [SoapDocumentMethod(OneWay=true)] attribute applied to my web service? Or must I recreate the SPWeb from the url? • PerformancePoint dashboard permissions problem in MOSS

  I have a PerformancePoint dashboard running in MOSS 2007 portal. The dashboard consists of one SSRS 2005 report, running in SharePoint Integrated mode. NT Authority\Authenticated Users have read permissions to the report library containing the SSRS report, the dashboard, and the report library containing the dashboard. Users that attempt to access the dashboard receive the following error message: The permissions granted to user 'DOMAIN\firstname.lastname' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) Users that then click on the direct link to the report in MOSS will see the report with no problem. Subsequent visits to the dashboard show the report with no problem. The report is using a data source that is located one folder up from the report location. The report has been updated to point to the correct shared data source after deployment. Both the report and the data source have been published. The data source is using stored credentials, with a domain service account that has been set to Use as Windows credentials. This service account is serving other reports in other areas with no problem. Edit: Ok, I've gotten a lot more information on this problem. The request is never actually being made to the data source. The user comes in to the dashboard and requests a report for the first time using their kerberos token identifying themselves. The report looks in the Report Server database and finds that they are not listed in the users table and generates this rsAccessDenied error. Once they view the report directly their name is in this table and they never have the problem again. Unfortunately, removing the user from the Users table in the RS database doesn't actually cause this error to happen again. Everything I've read says that when you run a Report Server in MOSS integrated mode all your permissions are handled at the MOSS report library level, and all Auth users have permissions to the report library, as stated earlier. Any ideas?

• Creating and publishing exel file in MOSS 2007 using data from SQL sever.

  Hello, I need help in this matter: We have a template of exel file in which all calculations are already set. User can request a 'report'. Idea is to create a button on our site (SharePoint portal). After clicking on it a new exel file is generated. This means to get actual data from database (SQL server 2005 SP2), import them into template, let all calculations to generate proper data and then allow user to see this file. For now it's enough to publish final exel file in document library. I am quite new in WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 and I need some advice in what can be the best solution. Looks like a quite complex task for me. Is there some direct way how to accomplish this? Or maybe I need one tool to get data from database and to import this data into exel file (SSRS?) and other tool to publish it in document library (MOSS7 Exel services?). I heard something about PerformancePoint Server 2007, is this a way to follow? Thanks forward for any advice!
