• Using only alphanumeric characters(a-z) inside toCharArray

  Below you will find me using toCharArray in order to send a string to array. I then MOVE the value of the letter using a for statement... for(i = 0; i < letter.length; i++){ letter[i] += (shiftCode); System.out.print(letter[i]); } However, when I use shiftCode to move the value such as... a shifted by -1; I get a symbol @. Is there a way to send the string to shiftCode or tell shiftCode to ONLY use letters? I need it to see my text, like "aaron", and when I use the for statement iterate through a-z only and ignore all symbols and numbers. I THINK it is as simple as... letter=codeWord.toCharArray(a,z); But trying different forms of that and googling it didn't give me any results. Perhaps it has to do with regex or something? Below you will find a complete copy of my program; it works exactly how I want it to do; but it iterates through letters and symbols. I also tried finding instructions online for toCharArray but if there exists any arguments I can't locate them.   Groovy Groovy comes with a compiler called groovyc. For each script, groovyc generates a class that extends groovy.lang.Script, which contains a main method so that Java can execute it. The name of the compiled class matches the name of the script being compiled. I don't know how it works. I think it is because itr.next() is not considered as a string. How can I solve this problem? I tried to replace Set keys by Set<String> keys. It did not help.

• Classes missing if application runs for a long time

  I have a funny problem - if my application runs for a long time ( 20h), then sometimes I get NoClassDefFound error - seems like JVM decided that the class is not going to be used anyway and GCd it. To be a bit more specific, here's an example case: object ErrorHandler extends PartialFunction[Throwable,Unit] { def isDefinedAt(t: Throwable) = true def apply(e: Throwable) =e match { // ... handle errors } } // somewhere else in the code... try { // ... long running code, can take more than 20 hours to complete } catch (ErrorHandler) And I get the following exception: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/rogach/avalanche/ErrorHandler$ If that try/catch block runs for smaller amounts of time, everything works as expected. If anyone is interested, here is the codebase in question: Avalanche I need to note that I saw this and similar problems only on Cent OS 5 machines, using JRE 6u26 and Scala 2.9.1 / 2.9.2. What could be the cause of this problem?

  Hi all I'm using JBPM 4.3 and trying hard to find a way to terminate one processInstance. First I simply used something like: executionService.endProcessInstance(processInstanceID, "active"); However I got exception thrown out. "exception while executing command org.jbpm.pvm.internal.cmd.EndProcessInstance java.lang.NullPointerException" Then I googled to find this post http://community.jboss.org/thread/146478, which didn't seem to give a resolution. I tried nevertheless to end all executions of the processInstance by calling ((ExecutionImpl) execution).end(); But the same exception was thrown again when I finally try to call executionService.endProcessInstance(processInstanceID, "active"); Did anyone have the same experience and solution?

• Memory in Eclipse

  I'm getting the java.lang.OutOfMemoryError exception in Eclipse. I know that Eclipse by default uses heap size of 256M. I'm trying to increase it but nothing happens. For example: eclipse -vmargs -Xmx16g -XX:PermSize=2g -XX:MaxPermSize=2g I also tried different settings, using only the -Xmx option, using different cases of g, G, m, M, different memory sizes, but nothing helps. Does not matter which params I specify, the heap exception is thrown at the same time, so I assume there's something I'm doing wrong that Eclipse ignores the -Xmx parameter. I'm using a 32GB RAM machine and trying to execute something very simple such as: double[][] a = new double[15000][15000]; It only works when I reduce the array size to something around 10000 on 10000. I'm working on Linux and using the top command I can see how much memory the Java process is consuming; it's less than 2%. Thanks!

Should the characters be replaced for their corresponding named entities (e.g. &aacute;, etc)? Should the doc type and the xml:lang attribute be set to English? I know I can check the W3C recommendation but I am asking more from a practical point of view.

• Maven eclipse does not add a dependency

  I have the following snippet in my pom.xml <dependency> <groupId>aspectj</groupId> <artifactId>aspectjrt</artifactId> <version>1.5.3</version> </dependency> and in one of my Java files I refer a class org.aspectj.lang.ProceedingJoinPoint. When I do a "mvn clean install" it compiles and builds fine but when I do an eclipse:eclipse, and import the project in eclipse it gives me an error The import org.aspectj cannot be resolved. I checked the .classpath file that was generated and it does not have an entry to this file. I tried a "mvn dependency:tree" and it lists this fine. Can someone tell me what is going wrong here?

• Getting a NullPointerException at seemingly random intervals, not sure why

  I'm running an example from a Kinect library for Processing (http://www.shiffman.net/2010/11/14/kinect-and-processing/) and sometimes get a NullPointerException pointing to this line: int rawDepth = depth[offset]; The depth array is created in this line: int[] depth = kinect.getRawDepth(); I'm not exactly sure what a NullPointerException is, and much googling hasn't really helped. It seems odd to me that the code compiles 70% of the time and returns the error unpredictably. Could the hardware itself be affecting it? According to leiningens sample project.clj ;; Dependencies are listed as [group-id/name version]; in addition ;; to keywords supported by Pomegranate, you can use :native-prefix ;; to specify a prefix. This prefix is used to extract natives in ;; jars that don't adhere to the default "<os>/<arch>/" layout that ;; Leiningen expects. Question 1: What does that mean? • Problem of reading OWL/XML

  Hello, I have a problem reading OWL/XML files from Java using Jena. I have no problem reading RDF/XML files, but whenever I create a OWL/XML file from Protege and try to read it, Java gives this error below : WARN [main] (RDFDefaultErrorHandler.java:36) Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at com.hp.hpl.jena.rdf.arp.impl.XMLHandler.endElement(XMLHandler.java:143) The code that I use to retrieve RDF/XML is below : OntModel ontModel = ModelFactory.createOntologyModel(); InputStream in = FileManager.get().open(inputFileName); if (in == null) { throw new IllegalArgumentException( "File: " + inputFileName + " not found"); } ontModel.read(in, ""); This code works with RDF/XML perfectly. However, I cannot read an OWL/XML. I looked at Internet and I couldn't find anything. I would really appreciate, if someone shows me a way. Many thanks
