• Synthetic click doesn't switch application's menu bar (Mac OS X)

  Hi. I'm developing some sort of air mouse application for iPhone platform. This applications connects to one computer service which generates mouse events on Mac OS X. I'm generating this events with CGEventCreateMouseEvent() and CGEventPost(). But I've encountered one problem. Let's say you are using Safari and then you click on free desktop space. If you do this with regular mouse it will hide Safari's top menu bar and show Finder menu bar. But on these synthetic events it doesn't act like that. Do I have to post some other event or set some additional properties?   I want to store a specific part of a matched result as a variable to be used for replacement later. I would like to keep this in a one liner instead of finding the variable I need before hand. when configuring apache, and use mod_rewrite, you can specificy specific parts of patterns to be used as variables,like this: RewriteRule ^www.example.com/page/(.*)$ http://www.example.com/page.php?page=$1 [R=301,L] the part of the pattern match that's contained inside the parenthesis is stored as $1 for use later. So if the url was www.example.com/page/home, it would be replaced with www.example.com/page.php?page=home. So the "home" part of the match was saved in $1 because it was the part of the pattern inside the parenthesis. I want something like this functionality with a sed command, I need to automatically replace many strings in a SQL dump file, to add drop table if exist commands before each create table, but I need to know the table name to do this, so if the dump file contains something like: ... CREATE TABLE `orders` ... I need to run something like: cat dump.sql | sed "s/CREATE TABLE `(.*)`/DROP TABLE IF EXISTS $1\N CREATE TABLE `$1`/g" to get the result of: ... DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `orders` CREATE TABLE `orders` ... I'm using the mod_rewrite syntax in the sed command as a logical example of what I'm trying to do. Any suggestions?

• How do I switch the table that is queried with linq-to-sql

  We have two tables with the same set of columns; depending on the “type” of object the value is stored in one of the two tables. I wish to use common code to access these two tables. If I was using “raw sql” I could just use String.Format() to change the table name. (Likewise for updates etc) The two separate tables are needed as the data access patterns are very different for the common queries on the two tables and therefore different indexes are needed. “Views” and “instead of triggers” etc to make the tables look like a single table are not liked here. A lot of our customers use low end version of SqlServer so we cannot use partition tables.

Project-Build All successfully builds the target (a shared library) but it seems I would have to (A) open a project settings page and type in the target, hoping it's spelled right*, or (B) run make from a terminal to "build" the install and package targets. I noticed a promising Project-Make Target entry, but the Create... and Build... sub-entries are greyed-out. If I hover over any inactive element, it becomes visible and active. The previously active element becomes inactive. On mouseout, nothing happens - the last hovered element stays active. My problems: The first active element always stays active (in DOM?). It becomes invisible, but on next mouseover nothing happens. Other elements don't behave as they should.   I didn't find solution for my problem with two QLayouts. I need app with QHBoxLayout with possible expandind when I will add new widgets, push buttons, .... So what I have: One QDialog and two layouts. Now I know that I can't hide the layout. So I tray just : layout()->removeItem(firstlayout); layout()->addLayout(secondLayout); But when I did this, I saw all items in first layout on possition [0,0]. So next step I try: for (all items in first layout) if (widget) widget->hide(); But this is working only with QWidget and I have many different items in layouts. Simply way is use the widget, because there is possibole to use hide/show, but I need auto expanding window when I add new items.

• jQuery Toggle switch images

  Hi Guys, I have a situation where I am not understanding jQuery's Toggle. I have two buttons, both of them open the same content and when you click on either button the content should open or close and the attribute changes the button from open to closed. (So both buttons do the same function). Only thing is, when I click on the top button and it opens my content and then click on the lower button to close it, the image attributes are switched incorrectly. • Retain Site Background and Switch Pages?

  I was about to redo a Rails site today using AJAX so that the background could remain in place. Then I thought, "that would be exactly like using frames," and then I thought about SEO consequences and I dropped the idea entirely and took a look around the Web. It turns out that few sites -- except for Google itself, which has the link bar at the top -- are doing this. It doesn't look impossible to do, but it's not exactly easy. Aside from Ajaxing, you have to think about updating the query-string and having SEO-friendly links (that actually don't work, but rather make background requests via Javascript). Will any of the new technologies -- HTML5, perhaps -- solve this problem and allow us to have a Web with background colors (and other static elements) that do not disappear momentarily between page refreshes? On the other hand, why are few devs doing this with current technologies? Is it just not a big deal, too complicated to implement, or....?

• How can i get my KVM switch to work? (win7 & ubuntu 10.10)

  i bought a KVM switch and i'm trying to use it to have it connected to my main PC (win7) and my new machine i just installed ubuntu on. I hooked it up properly, and tried using it. It worked when switching from the win7 machine to the ubuntu one, but after the (1st and only) successful switch, ubuntu just didn't seem to recognize my mouse or keyboard. Basically when i tried it the easiest was to explain what happened was it only worked with Win7. When i switched over to ubuntu by doing a [scroll-lock] [scroll-lock], my keyboard and mouse were not recognized. However, the lights on the keyboard and mouse did work when on ubuntu, but they didn't function, and since keyboard wouldn't function, i couldn't do a [scroll-lock] [scroll-lock] to switch back to the win7 machine. So i was basically locked in to ubuntu with no mouse or keyboard, and i had to unplug the keyboard/mouse usb's and d-sub to plug the monitor d-sub back into win7 computer to type up this thread and google the issue. Seems some people have had this issue before but i couldn't find a fix... I am 80% sure it has to do with drivers... but there isn't any for KVM switches, at least not this one also i never was unable to find ubuntu drivers/firmware for my mouse and keyboard (Logitech G15 and Razer Deathadder 3500). I don't know how to fix this, perhaps someone super-savvy could write/code a script or work-around or something? I really need to get this thing working, my back is getting sore from bending over and plugging in / unplugging usb/monitor/usb/monitor/usb/usb over and over again lol... and i really would be sad if the constant plugging unplugging of the usb's or the d-sub port would over time damage the ports... i don't want that... There has to be some way to get this working.. Can anyone help? The KVM is a IOGEAR GCS632U Win7 x64 Ubuntu 10.10

• Unix [Homework]: Get a list of /home/user/ directories in /etc/passwd

  I'm very new to Unix, and currently taking a class learning the basics of the system and its commands. I'm looking for a single command line to list off all of the user home directories in alphabetical order from the /etc/passwd directory. This applies only to the home directories, and not the contents within them. There should be no duplicate entries. I've tried many permutations of commands such as the following: sort -d | find /etc/passwd /home/* -type -d | uniq | less I've tried using -path, -name, removing -type, using -prune, and changing the search pattern to things like /home/*/$, but haven't gotten good results once. At best I can get a list of my own directory (complete with every directory inside it, which is bad), and the directories of the other students on the server (without the contained directories, which is good). I just can't get it to display the /home/user directories and nothing else for my own account. Many thanks in advance.

  I find a lot of Perl one-liners online. Sometimes I want to convert these one-liners into a script, because otherwise I'll forget the syntax of the one-liner. For example, I'm using the following command (from nagios.com): tail -f /var/log/nagios/nagios.log | perl -pe 's/(\d+)/localtime($1)/e' I'd to replace it with something like this: tail -f /var/log/nagios/nagios.log | ~/bin/nagiostime.pl However, I can't figure out the best way to quickly throw this stuff into a script. Does anyone have a quick way to throw these one-liners into a Bash or Perl script?

I need to write one that copies a file to a new folder and renames it At the moment, my batch file consists of only this command: COPY ABC.PDF \\Documents As you can see, it only copies the file ABC.pdf to the network folder 'Documents'. However i need to change this so it renames the file ABCxxx.pdf, where xxx is a text variable that i would like to set somewhere in the batch file. For example, if xxx = "_Draft", then file would be renamed ABC_Draft.pdf after it is copied. Thanks

• Copy a file to a new directory path in DOS

  How can I copy a file using DOS commands into a directory structure that may not yet exist? I need to be able to force the creation of the directory path to the target file location if that location doesn't already exist. For example, there is already a file.txt in this location: C:\file.txt And I want to copy it to C:\example\new\path\to\copy\of\file\file.txt but at this time C:\example\ and all the subdirectories may or may not yet exist. Basically, I am looking for a "copy and create the target path if necessary" command. What would you recommend is the best way to achieve this?
