• Subversion: Ignore a Directory in the Repo on Commit

  I have all the boost header files in this repository and when I do a check in it takes a really long time to scan all those files that will never change. Because I want users that checkout the project to be able to compile without installing boost I am in a pickle. I want to checkout everything, and then ignore updates (there will never be any) on a directory. Tortoise svn has a ignore-on-commit change list, but I cannot find anyway to add an entire directory to this list, and I do not fancy the idea of 'modifying' all the boost files so I can add them to this change list. Is there a simple solution?

• Auto-generate WebControls

  I want to generate .net code from a template so that it more rapid, so lazy developers (and I mean that in the nicest possible way!) don't have to write them in the IDE, compile them, etc... I know I can roll my own tool which generates the code using reflection (by reading in some text file, etc), but I just wondered if there was an easier than starting from scratch since this is what ASP.NET basically does already; so is there anyway to leverage this? E.g. to quote Peter A. Bromberg: Even an ASPX page with no code on it gets turned into an instance of the System.Web.UI.Page class. The page is parsed by the ASP.NET engine when it is first requested, and then its JIT compiled version is cached in the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder as long as the application is running and the .aspx page hasn't been changed. Ideally I want to auto-generate WebControls, but examples of anything closely related will do. C# Examples preferred also, but anything considered :)

• Problem linking SDL_Image against libpng

  I'm trying to compile SDL_Image 1.2.10 with MinGW + MSys (gcc 4.5.0) on Windows, I have compiled all the requires libs (zlib 1.2.5, libpng 1.4.2, libjpeg 8a, libtiff 3.9.2). SDL_Image compiles fine, but fails to link to libpng, throwing .libs/IMG_png.o:IMG_png.c:(.text+0x16): undefined reference errors on various png structs. If I run ./configure --prefix=/mingw --disable-png for SDL_Image, it compiles and links against the other libs just fine. I have tried older versions of libpng (1.2.43), but they also caused SDL_Image to throw the same errors.

  Hi all If I implement a class in ruby and compile it with jrubyc than it is not possible to call it from a java class directly if I start it with java. If I see this right I have to use org.jruby.embed... to implement a wrapper wich takes a class name and a metod to call my ruby class. Do I have to do this also if I start the application with jruby? In my current project I start java workflow engine completely with jruby. The workflow has to call a method in a ruby class which he cant find.   Hello, Sometimes, when using Java reflection or some special storing operation into Object, you end up with unchecked warnings. I got used to it and when I can't do anything about it, I document why one call is unchecked and why it should be considered as safe. But, for the first time, I've got an error about a unchecked call. This function : public <K,V extends SomeClass & SomeOtherClass<K>> void doSomethingWithSomeMap (Map map, V data); I thought that calling it this way : Map someMap = ...; SomeClass someData = ...; doSomethingWithSomeMap(someMap, someData); would give me an unchecked call warning. Jikes does a warning, but javac gives me an error : Error: <K,V>doSomethingWithSomeMap(java.util.Map<K,V>,V) in SomeClass cannot be applied to (java.util.Map,SomeClass) Any way to force it to compile with a warning? The 'fix' is to add a using declaration in the derived class. My question is why. What is the rational for a weird language rule like this? • How can I extract System.Net.Mail from Mono and rename the namespaces?

  Microsoft's implementation of System.Net.Mail does not provide a robust mailing solution. I would like to use Mono's implementation of System.Net.Mail instead, however that namespace is embedded in the System.dll shipped with Mono, and has exact same namespaces as the original .net framework. What I would like to do is instead extract System.Net.Mail from the mono solution and rename namespaces to Mono.System.Net.Mail. Then I can compile this in its own DLL and finally have a mailing solution that works! Can anyone tell me how this can be done?

  I'm stumped! We have a user control for managing account information. We use this particular control on two pages. On one page, everything works perfectly and meets our expectation. • Sharing a mex64 file across computers

  I have a mex64 dll compiled on my machine. I used Matlab 2009b with VS2008 Pro to compile the dll. The dll works fine on my Matlab installation. I want a colleague to use the dll so I sent it to him and he gets the following error message when trying to use the dll: ??? Invalid MEX-file 'filename.mexw64': The specified module could not be found. My current assumption is that this is caused because he uses an older Matlab version or missing a dll that I have. I ran dependency checker and asked him to check that he has all the listed dlls. I am still waiting for him to confirm his Matlab version. What other reasons can cause this and can the Matlab version make a difference? (I mean R2009a when I have R2009B and not a huge version diff)

• Boolean issues in PHP

  I have a question regarding bools in php. I have a stored mysql proc that is returning a boolean. When this value is grabbed on the php side it displays the value as being a 0 or 1. This all seems fine to me and I have read in the php manual that php will interpret a 0 or 1 as false or true at compile time but this does not seem to be the case to me. I have gone a step further and casted my returned value with (bool) but this still does not seem to work. My if statements are not properly firing because of this. Does anyone know what is going on?   I am using the ObservableSortedDictionary from Dr. WPF. The constructor looks like this: public ObservableSortedDictionary(IComparer<DictionaryEntry> comparer) I am really struggling to create an implementation that satisfies the constructor and works. My current code (that won't compile) is: public class TimeCreatedComparer<T> : IComparer<T> { public int Compare(T x, T y) { var myclass1 = (IMyClass)((DictionaryEntry)x).Value; var myclass2 = (IMyClass)((DictionaryEntry)y).Value; return myclass1.TimeCreated.CompareTo(myclass2.TimeCreated); } } It says I can't cast from T to DictionaryEntry. If I cast directly to IMyClass, it compiles, but I get a runtime error saying I can't cast from DictionaryEntry to IMyClass. At runtime, x and y are instances of DictionaryEntry, which each have the correct IMyClass as their Value.

  Hello, I have to install two libraries CGNS to use it in Fortan, but I don't understand how, the basic instructions are: To compile under MS Windows: configure.bat [options] then gmake if using GNU make, or nmake if using nmake. NOTE: This assumes that the cl compiler is in your path, and that the INCLUDE and LIB environment variables are set to include the directories containing the MSC include files and libraries. If not, you will need to use full path names to cl and link, and define INCLUDE and LIB in make.win32. You may also execute VCVARS32.BAT in the BIN directory of your VC installation to set these up prior to running nmake. so what i did was to: tape configure.bat it creates the rights files I set the news paths and lib, include for the cl.exe and link.exe but now the warning and error messages are about the clui.dll. cl -nologo -I. -Iadf -FoWIN32\cgns_error.obj -c cgns_error.c Cannot load language resource clui.dll what can i do now?   This seems confusing to me - im creating a class library, and adding all the necessary references for the source files contained in it. Now, off the bat, there were over 300 compiler errors complaining about missing namespaces. The library will now compile after i just added all of the System.* references, however this is obviously not the best way. I.e. if a classes needs using System.Web.Script;, there is no System.Web.Script reference, how would i find out which one of these references contained it? System.Web didnt.

  When I open the help (.chm) application, I could see table of contents. By default, the first entry in the file is selected, however I couldn't see the corresponding page data. • GCC exports decorated function name only from dll

  Hi Guys, I have a dll, it exports a function... extern "C" int __stdcall MP_GetFactory( gmpi::IMpUnknown** returnInterface ) { } I compile this with Code::Blocks GCC compiler (V3.4.5). Problem: resulting dll exports decorated function name... MP_GetFactory@4 This fails to load, should be plain old... MP_GetFactory I've researched this for about 4 hours. I think --add-stdcall-alias is the option to fix this. My Code::Blocks log shows... mingw32-g++.exe -shared -Wl,--out-implib=bin\Debug\libGainGCC.a -Wl,--dll obj\Debug\se_sdk3\mp_sdk_audio.o obj\Debug\se_sdk3\mp_sdk_common.o obj\Debug\Gain\Gain.o obj\Debug\Gain\gain.res -o bin\Debug\GainGCC.sem --add-stdcall-alias -luser32 ..so I think that's the correct option in there? But no luck. Dependancy Walker show only the decorated name being exported. I got It to kinda work by using __cdecl instead of __stdcall, the name is then exported ok, but the function corrupts the stack when called (because the caller expected the other calling convention).

  I feel somewhat foolish asking such a simple question, but I can't seem to find an answer. I'm new to ASP.NET (C#), but I'm learning by building a simple set of web pages that display a report. I have a variable that represents a company name. I need to output this variable in multiple places on the web page. The only way I have found to output a variable this is with: company_name.Text = "Acme Windows"; then <asp:literal id="company_name" runat="server" /> My problem is that I want to use company_name in multiple places on the page. Do I really have to create a separate variable holding the the same value for each time it is placed on the page? If I just copy the above XML code to all the places I want to show the variable it obviously creates a compile error since that ID is already defined. I feel like I'm missing something very obvious.

So, it comes to one risk that I wanted to ask about. If I convert the app to a pure QML application like the kind generated by the Qt Quick UI application wizard with no C++ and designed to be run with qmlscene will I be able to compile it for iOS when the time to port it comes or will I end up just converting it back to the C++ loader form? TL;DR Can pure QML (no C++) apps be compiled and run on iOS devices?
