Is there a virtual MIDI keyboard or any other program that can generate MIDI events like if it were a MIDI instrument for or in Mac OS X?
I've found some but they are extremely old and for PPC. I'd like something that doesn't require Rosetta.
I am using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5. I am new to this development environment, and previously worked on Windows.
For the software I installed, how to uninstall them? I did not find something like Add/Remove program of Windows Control Panel.
Thanks in advance!
I am running Mac OS X version 10.6.3 and when I open the terminal (with terminal.app or iterm) it just hangs on the login process. I've tried restarting, changing the startup command to /bin/bash, and deleting the terminal preference file. All to no avail.
Are there any free alternatives to HyperSpaces for Mac?
From the HyperSpaces website
Hyperspaces works with Apple’s Spaces to let you customize each Space so that it’s
recognisably different from the others. It does this through a set of great visual
decorations.
Neither Windows XP nor Mac OS X 10.6 seem to support creation of a PAN NAP. What would be the correct way to create a PAN ad-hoc PANU2PANU network with only built-in OS tools?
On Mac OS x 10.6.6 I have git installed in /usr/bin/ I wanted to update the got version however the the git installer puts it in /usr/local/git/bin/
I realise I could rearrange to path to point to the local one first but what I do not get is where the /usr/bin version came from.
Could it be part of an xcode install and lastly how would I delete correct it. I have looked and looked but find nothing and I didn't install it with ports etc. thanks
What FREE software (included with Mac OSX, or public domain) would be a good, simple way to take some existing PNG clipart files do some simple editing?
I really only need to do 3 things:
Rotate the image.
Clip the image.
Set a "transparent" color.
I don't need anything that takes weeks to learn... or is super-powerful... or super expensive.
Thanks.

I have a Mac mini ram 4GB setup as a web server which has low traffic - it is running single WordPress instance and a forum.
Why is available memory dropping to ~20MB after a while, bringing the whole server down?
I see httpd processes climbing more and more, and the only thing I can do is to restart the server and everything will work fine again.
Anybody with the same issues to share their thought about this?
I have a samba share that works fine for PCs, but we have a mac user who seems to only be able to edit and rename existing files, he cannot add new files.
Any ideas?
Here is the share setup:
path = /media/freeagent/officeshare
read only = No
guest ok = Yes
writeable = yes
public = yes
Is there a way to add Linux binary compatibility to Mac OS X 10.5+ such as that found in FreeBSD?
For instance, and totally as an example, here is Arlequin 3.5, a population genetics software that my lab uses with a Linux binary:

Thank you very much!
I've done a little bit of reading on the topic, but nothing too clear has turned up. Why is it so difficult to run Mac OS on a virtual machine on a PC? Some sources say it's because of hardware architecture. Is there a clear, definitive reason?
Mac OS X Spaces change when I drag a window at the edge of the screen. Is there an application or 'defaults' command to disable this?
Warp looks like it might help, but hasn't changed the behavior for me, even though I tried turning it off, or setting a modifier key.
Is there anyway to make windows rollup on Mac 10.6? I prefer rollup in some circumstances to minimising because it allows me to easy bring the window back up again.
UPDATE: Thanks for suggesting WindowShadeX, but it doesn't work on this version :-(
I like to use "Dictionary" app for seeking unknown meanings for Mac.

How do you create a keyboard shortcut that activates fast user switching (i.e. brings up the login window) in Mac OS X Snow Leopard?
I'm trying to emulate the Windows Start+L keyboard combination, which I miss from my time using Windows.
