  How do I remove duplicate characters and keep the uniq one only. Ex. My input is EFUAHUU UUUEUUUUH UJUJHHACDEFUCU Expected output is EFUAH UEH UJHACDEF I cam across perl -pe's/$1//gwhile/(.).*\/' which is wonderful but it is removing even the single occurence of the character in output. • Xcode & passing command line arguments

  I just started working with C & Xcode and I've run into a little difficulty. All I want to do is read a file from the command line and see the output in the terminal. I think my problem lies with the path to the file that I want to read in. I'm using a Mac and the file is on my desktop, so the path should be Users/myName/Desktop/words.txt. Is this correct? • Jquery UI Datepicker Date Range Inline Problem

  Hey Guys, i have a big Problem with jQuery UI Datepicker. I have two Input Fields "From Date" and "To Date". When i choose a From Date - a Daterange of only 5 Days should appear on the "To Date" Picker. I used the Code from "Russ Cam" http://stackoverflow.com/questions/330737/jquery-datepicker-2-inputs-textboxes-and-restricting-range It worked perfect. Now my Problem: I have a second Calendar which is INLINE, means no Input Fields - it's shown directly on the Page - with "From Date" and "To Date". In this Calendar the Script does not work! All Fields in "From Date" and in the "To Date" are available - no Date Range Restrictions or something else. What's wrong here? Can someone give me a hint?

  last days i spent my week @ firozabadthe town is much small and near to agraso i never forget to see the taj mahal and red fort their even it’s first chance to see them.i make a plan that i go to Agra last Saturday. firstly i go to red fort and i talking with many foreigner and they love to talking with me because their is only one man who with with them who is their GUIDE a person like a  book they never can talk with you but tell you about everything of the location because you buy them. their are many person come from various country such as German , Japan,  Russ , Italy and many other. their is no problem to talk with them perhaps they happen with talk to me. when i completely watch the Red fort at least i see a girl who are look like a foreigner. i talk themselves where they come from they tell me Francewhen i go elsewhere i thing to propose them to be  a friend of mine. i never propose any girl for friendship with me even in school and college. so i propose them to be a friend of mine.  they accept it i put the email ID in their hand whenever they gone. but i still not get their mail. 2ndly i go to Taj mahal the taj experience is not so good i spent 3 or 4 hours in rush. i found their is no security even their are many army force. they all person are too slow to work. they spent 10 minute to check  a person for security . their hands work very slow just like a low configuration computer. i talk many person their too. i talk to a person who tell themselves Jacob and they from Chicago. they speak very fast and i not know what they tell in speech. a another problem i got with some Chinese person. when i talking with them that i found they speak only Chinese language. • Unable to uninstall SQL Server express

  When I try, I receive the following error message: A computer restart is required. You must restart this computer before installing SQL Server. Of course, I have restarted the computer :-) I'm not really sure how to proceed. The version that sql server reports when I query it is: SQL Server 10.0.1600.22 - RTM (Express Edition with Advanced ) Solved: As it turns out, I had to end up uninstalling logitech's quick cam pro software. Although the fix below did not directly resolve it, the value of that registry key led me to discovering the solution by querying for it online :-) thanks!!!

• ffmpeg, vlc - Unable to find input stream

  Good day to all... I have some "little" problems with ffserver and ffmpeg... What I need to do is to broadcast a live video. So I got the cam... used vlc and used send stream option. I sent it to 192.168.1.9:64555, which is a virtual machine on the same computer, running centos. On the virtual machine I run the command ffmpeg -i 192.168.1.9:64555 output.mpg. • video streaming infrastructure advice

  We would like to set-up a live video-chat web site and are looking for basic recomendations for software and hardware set-up. Most streams will be broadcast live from a single person with a web cam, etc., and viewed by typically 1-10 people, although there could be up to 100+ viewers on the high side. Audio and video do not have to be super-high quality, but do need to be "good enough". The main point is to convey the basic info in the video (and audio). If occasionally the frame-rate drops low and then goes back to normal fairly soon, we could live with that. Budget is an issue, so we are in general looking for a lower cost solution that will give us most of what we need in temers of performance and quality. We are looking at Peer1 for co-lo. The rest of our web site will be .Net / Windows platform. We are open to looking at any platform for the best streaming solution, although our technical expertise is currently more on the Windows side.

• Linux Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 - microphone issues

  I got a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000, the cam itself is working as it honors the UVC spec. This fancy WebCam has a integrated mic which worked some time before but now, it does no more. (Note: I use pulseaudio as it is a USB Mic and I am not really keen on the hassle of ALSA setup) Things I check already are if it gets detected at all: $ lsusb |grep Logi Bus 002 Device 002: ID 046d:0809 Logitech, Inc. Webcam Pro 9000 is muted in alsa-mixer - not the case, volume at 100 pavucontrol shows it too, but no input level bar! On top of that, if I open the gnome3 (fallback mode) audio panel(from the desktop panel), and disabel/reenable it in the hardware tab, it works "for some time"... Any hints? Any ideas? I am really out options for now, and the fact it worked like 6 months ago (perfectly) makes it no better.

• How can I create an external SSL wrapper/tunnel page for an insecure webpage behind a firewall?

  I have an security cam with a built-in webpage inside my home network. That camera is using basic HTTP authentication instead of SSL. I want to be able to access the camera's webpage from outside my network, but I don't want to open an unencrypted video stream to the outside world. Right now, I'm doing some cumbersome ssh tunneling where I bounce off an ssh server like: ssh -N -L 9090:CAMERA_IP:80 [email protected] and then I connect to my web page like: http://localhost:9090 But this is a pain. Now, gentle reader, I beseech you to tell me how I can use linux (Ubuntu) to get a fully encrypted SSL connection to my internal web page without the hassle of creating an ssh tunnel each time. I believe I can use stunnel, but I'm not sure of the command.

• Bug with Windows/Windows Picture and Fax Viewer

  Hi, Recently I copied few photos from my digi cam to my laptop. And what i found was, in Thumbnail view, the Image preview on the photos are different from the actual file. i.e consider if the Image preview on a file is image of a Forest, on Opening the file in Windows Fax viewer i get image of a Seashore. The Actual image is that of a seashore. But in image preview i'm getting different images. How to get rid of this.? It is really annoying. I open a file expecting a image and it turns out to be a different image. Thanks in advance

  I need to tutor my brother on a particular topic. We live in different geographical areas. We use g-talk to do the same. We do not have web-cam's to enable video chat. The tutoring will involve a lot of off-the-cuff illustrations. I am hence searching for a suitable software which will emulate a blackboard over an internet connection. I need the software to enable sharing of a common canvas on which I can draw, write and point to. Say a Microsoft paint canvas on internet. Could you point out a suitable software? Google is not of being help at the moment as I suspect that I am not specifying my search criteria properly.

• how to disable isight auto adjustments ?

  The built-in isight cam on my macbook machine keeps re-adjusting the lighting (and focus I think). I need to manually set those, but I found nothing of any use in System Preferences or System Profiler. Any way to access the settings ? Any magic terminal commands that allows access to the camera ? Anyone has a driver that allows for any camera access ? 'mac - it just works'...sure, if you want to use it like a kid. the second you actually want to do something with you mac other than the basic things, you can do on ANY regular machine anyway, your 'rights' are done with, as apple seems to only encourage dumb clients. I'm not saying saying this applies to all mac users, but the 'typical/average' one in my view is only going to use it for media(music,video) and web(facebook,blogging, all that) and maybe podcasting,webcasting,etc....ok this is turning into a rant, so I will finish here.

• laptop does not boot

  I have hp probook 4520s lap. But now it does not boot. When I press switch on button fans are working but it shows black screen. HDD light just blink one or two times when start but it will not continue. And usually web cam light should blink one time when startup but it doesn't. I connect to different monitor but couldn't see a output. This lap bought 3 months before but it doesn't have international warranty. Therefore I can not do anything. If someone can provide any clue or suggestion that what happened and what should I do, appreciated. thank you.

• How to create a virtual input in windows from an audio stream

  Great to find this forum full of knowledge. I was wondering if anyone knew of an application or other work around to create a virtual input device in windows. I have a IP cam app on my android phone, that I would like to use for skype webcam. It comes with a port for getting the video feed into skype, and that works great. However, the only audio available, is a OGG stream. Both video and audio work great with media players such as VLC etc, but ot with skype, since skype only works with windows input devices. Is there such software outthere, in which I could simply name my audio stream address, and pipe that to a virtual input device to allow skype to find it?

• Connecting my iPhone to iTunes causes my Acer laptop to crash

  Hello I have an Acer Travelmate 8200 laptop and whenever I connect my Iphone to it, it crashes with the BSOD(Blue Screen Of Death). I have figured out that if I delete all the pictures in my phone I can get it to connect but that is not a ideal long term solution. I also read that it may be a conflict with the built in web-cam I have but I've upgraded the driver and I still get the crashing problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated! • Emails going into junk and spf records

  Hi, our emails are being flagged as junk. I have two different webistes both with their own dedicted ip address. sitea.com = xx.xx.xx.43 siteb.com = xx.xx.xx.44 Im using hmailserver to host our emails and have the smtp bound to the ip address of xx.xx.xx.42 im aware that i can set up a spf record to state that the what servers emails can be sent from v=spf1 mx ip4:xx.xx.xx.43 mx:mail.sitea.com ip4:xx.xx.xx.42 -all Would the fact that email are not sent from the sites ip's be causing them to be flagged as junk. • Logs being flooded from Squid for having intercepted and authentication enabled together

  I have done some hefty Google'ing and I can't seem to find a single solution to this issue that I cam currently experiencing. Which works rather well in this configuration however my logs are getting flooded of this entry authentication not applicable on intercepted requests whenever a transparent connection is made. So far, I can't seem to find any documentation that would describe how to suppress these messages ?

  I am not sure but I can't seem to turn on my webcam to record videos which I would broad cast somewhere later on. I have a HP G62 Laptop, and the cam turns on when I use programs like Skype and other Video Calling clients, other wise I can't turn it own, as I don't seem to know how. Laptop: HP G62 Notebook PC, AMD Atholon II P230 Dual-Core, Windows 7: Home Premium Can some one tell me how do I turn on my webcam and record videos? Or is there some sort of a software? I tend to read stuff I wrote in Word, so if there is a program I need it to be in the tray dock and not to bug me, while I am moving between different documents/web pages.

• USB webcam just works once and next time I've to reboot

  I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, and a usb webcam that is shown as 'Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0ac8:3450 Z-Star Microelectronics Corp.' by lsusb. The problem is that on connecting the cam, it just works with the first program I start (skype, tokbox, messenger), and if I disconnect it or switch to another program, it stops to work and I have to restart my computer to make it work again. Has anyone else noticed this behaviour? Is there some good solution to reset the camera without rebooting to make it work again?

• Can I use Veritias Storage Manager to provide HA storage using server-local storage?

  I have a need to provide an high-availability ftp/http file repository. Upload will happne to one server, but the uploaded file must be immediately visisble on all other servers I can handle the failover of the servers themeselves using load balancers. But in the event of failure of one server, the other servers must see the same contents of the repository. Normally, I'd use a SAN for this, but in this case the data centre standards do not allow SAN/external storage - all storage will be local to the servers. Cam I use Veritas Storage Manager (or any other product) to manage mirroring hte contents between servers in this way? Or does that require a SAN? I couldn't tell either way from a quick look at the data sheets etc.

• Hipchat 2.2.1080 on ubuntu 64bit 12.04 flashes webcam on startup

  I recently updated to hipchat version 2.2.1080 and everytime I start it up it flashes the webcam. By this, I mean the light on my cam flashes. It flashes only for a second then turns off. Does anyone experience this? Does anyone know why this happens? It is rather unerving because other applications that support video chat, like skype, do no such thing. I have filed a help ticket directly with hipchat but until they respond I was hoping that someone knew what was going on Thank you

I've been messing around with JavaCV and LWJGL for the past few months and have a basic understanding of how they both work. I found this after scouring google, but I get an error that the ByteBuffer isn't big enough. • Are programmers getting lazier and less competent

  I started programming in C++ at uni and loved it. In the next term we changed to VB6 and I hated it. I could not tell what was going on, you drag a button to a form and the ide writes the code for you. While I hated the way VB functioned I cannot argue that it was faster and easier than doing the same thing in C++ so i can see why it is a popular language. Now I am not calling VB developers lazy in just saying it easier than C++ and I have noticed that a lot of newer languages are following this trend such a C#. This leads me to think that as more business want quick results more people will program like this and sooner or later there will be no such thing as what we call programming now. Future programmers will tell the computer what they want and the compiler will write the program for them like in star trek. Is this just an under informed opinion of a junior programmer or are programmers getting lazier and less competent in general? EDIT: A lot of answers say why re invent the wheel and I agree with this but when there are wheels available people are not bothering to learn how to make the wheel. I can google how to do pretty much anything in any language and half the languages do so much for you when it come to debugging they have no idea what there code does of how to fix the error. That's how I cam up with the theory that programmers are becoming lazier and less competent as no one cares how stuff works just that it does until it does not.
