  • How do i get the data from a surveillance camera to a storage i can stream from?

    Hi my sisters house was robbed chrismas evening :( I talked with her about making a surveillance system for her. The idea is to have a system that detects intruders and then send a SMS to you while streaming it to a private website. The hard part: How and where do I storage the data from the camera so it's streamable? I think i can manage to do the streaming, website and SMS server, but i need the data (fundamentation).   • Ubuntu 10.04: boot error for custom compiled kernel - gave up waiting for root device

    I have installed lucid on my Lenevo Laptop (Y 410 series , x86 platform) and it is working fine. Now I have compiled kernel 2.6.37 downloaded from the kernel tree. I followed usual procedure of compiling kernel (make menuconfig, make, make modules etc). Then I created the initrd image using mkinitramfs and updated my grub using update-grub command. update-grub detects the initrd image of the compiled kernel. However when I boot from this kernel it gives me following error: Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems: -Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline) -Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?) -Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?) -Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev) ALERT! root=UUID=/... does not exist and then it falls onto initramfs prompt. I have tried following solutions discussed in different Ubuntu forums: disable uuid and point root=/dev/sda8 (sda8 is where my kernel image resides (both default kernel and compiled one) from /etc/default/grub compile kernel using CONFIG_DEVTMPFS=y suggested here Still I am unable to boot from the compile kernel. Could someone please suggest me the solution?

    Hi all, Today I've got a problem when I tried using following code to alter the model attribute in the controller function userlist($trigger = 1) { if($trigger == 1) { $this->User->useTable = 'betausers'; //'betausers' is completely the same structure as table 'users' } $users = $this->User->find('all'); debug($users); } And the model file is class User extends AppModel { var $name = "User"; //var $useTable = 'betausers'; function beforeFind() //only for debug { debug($this->useTable); } } The debug message in the model showed the userTable attribute had been changed to betausers.And It was supposed to show all records in table betausers.However,I still got the data in the users,which quite confused me.And I hope someone can show me some directions to solve this problem.     Which of the two methods of dta transfer trasfers data at a faster rate for smartphones and tablets? Standard WIFI, or MicroSD Cards? I wonder if it would be actually faster to access data on external storage then it would be to have the MicroSD card in my smartphone or tablet. Currently I have a class 10 32GB MicroSD card in my cell phone. I am looking to get the new Google Nexus tablet but it does not offer expandable internal storage. I wonder if that's really a detriment; because if WIFI is faster than MicroSD, then it would matter almost none at all that you couldn't expand the storage internally. If the case is that WIFI is faster, and people caught onto this, then people could save a lot of money on lower memory ipads/iphones/ipods, tablets, and smartphones!

    hi, I'm having a problem with custom formatters in Drupal. I'm using a custom formatter on a CCK file file with the following content: but when I select it to use I get an internal server error: PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 16B357F9 Please note: 1) It sometimes worked, but the page becomes soon unavailable after a while 2) I've tried to replace the custom formatter content with a simple Hello and I get the error anyway, so it should not be related to the content. 3) I'm using another custom formatter with another CCK field and it doesn't give any error.     I'm setting up a custom 403.4 handler so that non-SSL requests to my site are redirected to a different URL - and what I'd like to do is to include the script path and query string in the redirect, so that a user who requests http://www.site.com/foo?bar=1 will be redirected to https://www.site.com/foo?bar=1 I know something similar is possible when configuring a top-level site redirect, using the $S, $Q, %v tokens referred to in this IIS reference page - but this syntax doesn't seem to work when configuring a custom error redirect.

    At Pass Summit 2011 a new project was announced. It’s a Microsoft SQL Azure Lab and its codename is Microsoft “Data Explorer”. According to the official blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dataexplorer/), this new tool provides an innovative way to acquire new knowledge from the data that interest you. In a nutshell, Data Explorer allows you to combine data from multiple sources, to publish and share the result. In addition, you can generate data streams in the RESTful open format (Open Data Protocol), and they can then be used by other applications. Nonetheless we can still use Excel or PowerPivot to analyze the results. Sources can be varied: Excel spreadsheets, text files, databases, Windows Azure Marketplace, etc.. For those who are not familiar with this resource, I strongly suggest you to keep an eye on the data services available to the Marketplace: https://datamarket.azure.com/browse/Data To tell the truth, as I read the above blog post, I was tempted to think of the Data Explorer as a "SSIS on Azure" addressed to the Power User. In fact, reading the response from Tim Mallalieu (Group Program Manager of Data Explorer) to the comment made to his post, I had a positive response to my first impression: “…we originally thinking of ourselves as Self-Service ETL. As we talked to more folks and started partnering with other teams we realized that would be an area that we can add value but that there were more opportunities emerging.” The typical operations of the ETL phase ( processing and organization of data in different formats) can be obtained thanks to Data Explorer Mashup. This is an image of the tool: The flexibility in the manipulation of information is given by Data Explorer Formula Language.     I am in the process of creating a dynamic database where user will be able to create resource type where he/she can add custom fields (multiple texts, strings, and files) Each resource type will have the ability to display, import, export its data; I've been thinking about it and here are my approaches. I would love to hear what do you guys think. Ideas: just hashing all the custom data in a data field (pro: writing is easier, con: reading back out may be harder); children fields (the model will have multiple fields of strings, fields of text, and fields for file path); fixed number of custom fields in the same table with a key mapping data hash stored in the same row; Non-SQL approach, but then the problem would be generating/changing models on the fly to work with different custom fields;

  • Windows Workflow Foundation 4.0 Designer Rehosting with Custom Activities

    I have several WF 4.0 workflows that I have created for an application my company is developing. Some of these workflows are simple, and some are very complex (i.e. many steps, several different types of activities, custom activities). For many of these workflows, I have created several custom code activities to support some internal process types. The workflows work great and we have had very few problems when it comes to maintaining them within VS 2010. We now want to move that responsibility off to our business users, so I have created a WPF application to rehost the WF designer (according to the MS samples). My problem is that when I open one of the workflows that contains custom code activities, those activities are represented as red boxes with the error message of "Activity could not be loaded because of errors in XAML." I have done research and have found several posts that mention that this is usually a problem with namespacing and referencing. The rehosted designer is in a namespace similar to this: Company.Application.Workflow.Designer And the custom code activities are contained within a separate custom workflow library, which I have included as a reference in the designer project. The library's namespace is similar to this: Company.Application.Workflow.Data.Activities As I have mentioned, the library is set as a reference in the designer's project, and I see it being copied to the output when I build the project. I have also included the reference in the XAML of the main designed application. What am I missing?
