  • MVC Entity Framework: Cannot open user default database. Login failed.

    This type of stuff drives me nuts. I'm having trouble finding the exact issue that I'm having, maybe I just don't know the terminology. Anyway, I had a working website using MVC and Entity Framework, but then I coded an error in a partial view page (ascx). Then all of a sudden I started to get this message. Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM' I've found plenty of suggestions about opening SQL Server Management Studio, Double Click on Security, Double Click on Logins, Double click on NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM and then double click on User Mapping. In this view I'm suppose to check the box for my database so that this user is mapped to this login. However, since I created my database in Visio Studio 2008 as part of my solution, it doesn't show up to allow me to click on it. So what do I do now? What drives me nuts is that everything was working fine. I was using my computer name to access the website and everything was working fine until the coding error. I've fix the error but still getting the error. I should also mention that this error started yesterday too around the same time but later cleared itself up. If I use localhost to access the site, it works just fine. IIS7 configuration for my website: Application Pool = DefaultAppPool Physical Path Credentials Logon = ClearText With in connection strings. I do see the one for my database in this solution. Entry Type is local metadata=res://*/Models.DataModel.csdl|res://*/Models.DataModel.ssdl|res://*/Models.DataModel.msl; provider=System.Data.SqlClient; provider connection string="Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\FFBall.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;MultipleActiveResultSets=True" And somewhere I remember changing the identity from Network Service to LocalSystem. Because when I first stared I was getting this same message, but I changed this value and it started working. I saw that suggested somewhere too but I do not recall. Wait I remember now, I believe in IIS7, under Application Pools, DefaultAppPool identity is set to LocalSystem. Additional things I've tried. Restart the computer Recycle the application pool. Antivirus isn't running. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  • Can I make Thunderbird load different email accounts one after the other instead of all at the same

    I use Thunderbird 3 on Vista. I use it for 3 POP accounts. When I start work in the morning, all three accounts are checked at the same time, and all emails are being loaded simultaneously. I think Thunderbird is quite slow in general, and this behaviour makes it even worse. At least it makes me feel so. Can I tell Thunderbird to check the accounts and load the emails one after the other?

    Hi, I am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional with TestDriven.NET 2.14.2190, Windows XP (x86). When i right click on my unit tests project, test with - Coverage, I obtain the following output: NCover couldn't create a coverage report. and the result: 0 Passed, 0 Failed, 0 Skipped I have no other versions of NCover installed, just the VS and TestDriven .NET The actual testing is performed as expected - all tests successfully pass (so, there's nothing wrong with my class) Does anyone know what could be the problem?

    Hi all! I have an object which conforms to the NSCoding protocol. But I would also like to initialise an empty version of this object and then call its own 'Load' method to load whatever data exists on file into its variables. So I've created the following: - (void)loadFromFile { NSString *filePath = [self dataFilePath]; if ([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:filePath]) { NSData *data = [[NSMutableData alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:[self dataFilePath]]; NSKeyedUnarchiver *unarchiver = [[NSKeyedUnarchiver alloc] initForReadingWithData:data]; self = [unarchiver decodeObjectForKey:kDataKey]; [unarchiver finishDecoding]; } } Now this second method doesn't manage to load any variables. Is this line not possible perhaps? self = [unarchiver decodeObjectForKey:kDataKey]; Ultimately I would like to use the code like this: One viewController takes user entered input, creates an object and saves it to memory using [anObject saveToFile]; And a second viewController creates an empty object, then initialises its values to those stored on file by calling: [emptyObject loadFromFile]; Any suggestions on how to make this work would be hugely appreciated. I'm trying to decide between two choices: A single large instance (Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit) with full LAMP stack or One or two small instances (Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit) with Apache/PHP only One small instance dedicated to MySQL (or RDS) Which setup would you consider to be more performant?

  • What does "the application failed to initialize properly" mean?

    I just got a bug report from someone running an app I wrote under Windows XP. He says it won't start up. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application. It works fine at my end, (under Windows 7,) and I don't have any Win7- or Vista-specific stuff in the program, so it should work on XP too. How do I go about tracking this down and debugging it?

  • What DNS server to use for dynamic load-balancing of website?

    I will have 2 servers in different datacenters (different countries) and I want to use DNS load-balancing mainly for High Availability of website hosted on those 2 servers. It is just ad tracking site, which records hit in local database and returns few lines on html code. I want to return 2 A records each time because of DNS pinning in browsers (if one server fails, browser will try second A record which it has already cached). Both servers will be acting also as DNS servers for redundancy. Now comes my proposed solution: I will use BIND and have both servers as a master for that zone. On each server there will be running script, which will periodically test availability (http) of both servers and remove IP from DNS in case of failure. Now the questions :) 1) Is BIND suitable for this solution? I think BIND performance is good and it is easy to manipulate the zone file via script. And as I will modify the zone only in case of failure/maintenance, the modifications (and thus bind reload) won't be often. 2) I plan to use TTL of 5 minutes. The website will have about 1000-3000 req/s but from distinct clients (each IP only 1-3 requests), so I think the DNS load won't be too much. I suppose their ISPs will cache the responses for those 5 mins. Is there any reason to lower the TTL even more? 3) Is my master-master approach good? Or should I make one of the servers master and the other one slave? Right now each server can monitor both itself and the other one. If only webservice fails, both DNS nodes will notice it. If the whole server fails, then the remaining DNS node will notice it and the failed node will not answer DNS queries anyway. 4) Is it a big issue when one NS server does not respond to queries? If yes, I can make a third DNS, so anytime at least 2 of them would accept queries... 5) Should I rewrite the zone file via script, or just use dynamic DNS update (for example via nsupdateutility)?

  • I cannot seem to load an XML document using ASP (Classic), IIS6. Details inside.

    So I am writing a web application for use within my organization. The application requires that it know who the current user is. This is done by calling the Request.ServerVariables("AUTH_USER") function, which works great as long as 'Anonymous Access' is disabled (unchecked) and 'Integrated Windows Authentication' is enabled (checked) within IIS for this subweb. Unfortunately by doing this I get an 'Access Denied' error when I hit the load method of the XML DOM. Example code: dim urlToXmlFile urlToXmlFile = "http://currentwebserver/currentsubweb/nameofxml.xml" dim xmlDom set xmlDom = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.DOMDocument") xmlDom.async = false xmlDom.load( urlToXmlFile ) ' <-- this is where I get the error! I've looked everywhere and cannot find a solution. I should be able to load an XML file into the DOM regardless of the authentication method. Any help would be appreciated. So far the only two solutions I can come up with are: a) create a new subweb that JUST gets the current user name and somehow passes it back to my XML reading subweb. b) open up security on the entire system to 'Everyone', which works but our IS department wouldn't care for that.

Instead I have /etc/modprobe.d/ directory... Now, I suppose I need to put a file in this dir for my driver but I have no idea how to write this file... I just need "modprobe name" to be run...

  • Issues printing through ssh tunnel and port forwarding

    I'm having some problems trying to print through a ssh tunnel. I'd like to print from my laptop to a network printer (Toshiba es453, for what matters) which is in a local network. I can reach the local network using a gateway. So far I did the following: ssh -N -L19100:<Printer_IP>:9100 <username>@<ssh_gateway> Basically i just mapped the port 19100 of my laptop directly to the input port of the printer, passing through the gateway. So far, so good. Then, i tried to install on my laptop a new printer with the GUI config tool of ubuntu, so that the new printer is on localhost at port 19100 (as APP Socket/HP Jet Direct) , then I provided the proper driver of the printer. In theory, once the tunnel is open I should be able to print from any program just selecting this printer. From a machine inside the local network I did a telnet <IP_printer> 9100, got access, wrote some random thing, closed the connection and correctly I got a print of what I had written. So the port and the ip of the printer should be correct. I tried the same from my laptop with the tunnel opened, the telnet succeeded but, again, the printer didn't print anything, getting the usual channel x: open failed: errors. I'm not a great expert on the matter, I just thought that in theory it was possible to do something like that, but maybe there is something that I didn't consider or I did wrong. Any clue? Thanks! Simone [update] As further debugging test, I tried to replicate the procedure from a machine in the local network. From that machine, I did ssh -N -L19100:<IP_printer>:9100 <username>@<ssh_gateway> (note that now the machine, the gateway and the printer are in the same local network) then I tried again the telnet test with telnet localhost 19100, I got access and everything, but I didn't get the print but the usual error channel 2: open failed: connect failed: Connection timed out Maybe I am missing some other connection to be forwarded or maybe this is not allowed by the administrators. Of course, if I connect via ssh tunneling to the local machine from my laptop through the gateway, I can successfully print using the lpr command (from the local machine). But this is what I would like to avoid (yes, I'm lazy...:-), I would like to have a more 'elegant' and transparent way to do that.

  • Magento, NGINX, PHP-FPM, APC, MEMCACHED, 16gb Ram CentOS, Spiking PHP-FPM to 100% CPU

    I have been trying to resolve my issue of spiking cpu caused by php-fpm processes. I've reduced the php-fpm config settings to: pm = ondemand pm.max_children = 12 pm.start_servers = 2 pm.min_spare_servers = 2 pm.max_spare_servers = 10 pm.max_requests = 500 php_admin_value[memory_limit] = 128M Problem still exists. I'm running a Joomla main site (which is having no problems) and a Magento store in a sub-directory. My server is a Linux CentOS, running NGINX, APC, Memcached, Full Page Cache and php-fpm. My server has 8 cores and 16gb dedicated ram. My host has shut down my server several times the past week because my php-fpm processes are consuming the entire network. A lot of the individual php-fpm processes are getting over 50% cpu. I've hired several "professionals" and none of them was able to help me, so now broke and stumped, I'm turning to you guys for help. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. the server is not using much memory: Mem: 16777216k total, 1204040k used, 15573176k free My.conf settings: query_cache_size = 128M innodb_buffer_pool_size = 512M open-files-limit = 8192 table_cache=4096 I just noticed that someone changed my innodb_buffer_pool_size to 512M. Shouldn't this be set to 80% of available ram? So I have 16gb ram so it should be set at 12G; however, I set it at 10G. What do you think? I made that change and restart everything. Php-fpm is still spiking cpu. Here is just 1 php-fpm process: 23942 user 17 0 507m 99m 27m R 90.9%CPU 0.6 0:03.46 php-fpm I'm sure there may be more information you will need to help, so just let me know what you guys need to help me figure this out.   • Exchange 2010 add mailbox server to DAG error

    Hello, i'm having some problems when adding a second mailbox server to my DAG in Exchange 2010. The test setup goes like this: 1x windows server 2008 (DC/DNS) 2x windows server 2008 (Exchange 2010) I have made sure all services are up and running and that the "Exchange Trusted Subsystem" account is set as a local admin. When i create a DAG i can add the first mailbox server (A) without any problems, but when i go to add the second (B) it gives me an error saying "Unable to contact the Cluster service on 1 other members (member) of the Database availability group. It does the same if i add (B) first and then try to add (A).     I want to develop few scripts in php that will invoke following commands; using exec() function service network restart crontab -u root /xyz/abc/fjs/crontab etc. The issue is that Apache executes script as apache user (I am on CentOS 5), regardless of adding apache into wheel or doing good, the bad and the ugly group assignment does not run commands (as mentioned above).   • OpenVZ Can't initialize containers after install

    I have installed OpenVZ on centos 6 on a dedicated server. I followed quick installation guide on openvz wiki. After installing thru yum, I don't know why, but grub.conf wasn't automatically updated to accomodate new kernel, so I had to do it manually. I edited grub.conf, added openvz kernel and rebooted - it went fine. Server went up into openvz kernel and it worked, it started openvz service byitself. But after I created a container, added IP to it and attempted to start it, I couldn't. Here is the output from the shell: [root@cloud2 ~]# vzctl start 86 Starting container ...
