  • Custom UINavigationBar Background

    - by tigermain
    I've been trying to set up a custom background for the whole of my NavigationBar (not just the titleView) but have been struggling. I found this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1649012&tstart=0 But am not sure how to implement the code snippet that is given. Is the code implemented as a new class? Also where do I instatiate the NavigationController as I have an application built with the NavigationView template so it is not done in my root controller as per the example

  • UIScrollView + UIWebView = NO scrollsToTop

    - by sniurkst
    It looks like a problem which could have simple solution, but I haven't found anything what could lead the way to it. I'm using UIWebView inside of UIScrollView and tapping on statusBar (to scroll content to top) is not working. I've made simple test application to see if it's really UIWebViews fault. And it really is. // scrolls to top on status bar tap UIScrollView *sv = [[UIScrollView alloc] init]; sv.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480); sv.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, 1200); [self.view addSubview:sv]; // doesn't scroll UIScrollView *sv = [[UIScrollView alloc] init]; sv.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480); sv.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, 1200); UIWebView *wv = [[UIWebView alloc] init]; wv.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 100); [sv addSubview:wv]; [self.view addSubview:sv]; So, I think maybe there's something I could disable to make UIWebView not to mess with scrollToTop? Or some kind of workaround also would be nice. Any ideas?

  • iPhone modal View with parent view semi-visible?

    - by Moshe
    I am adding a modal view using the following code: [self presentModalViewController:phrasesEditor animated:YES]; How can I make the modal view semi-transparent so that the superview "shines" through? My complete method/function looks like this: -(IBAction)showEditPhrases:(id)sender{ PhrasesViewController *phrasesEditor = [[PhrasesViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"PhrasesViewController" bundle:nil]; phrasesEditor.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleCrossDissolve; [phrasesEditor.view setAlpha: 0.5]; [phrasesEditor.view setBackgroundColor: [UIColor clearColor]]; [self presentModalViewController:phrasesEditor animated:YES]; [phrasesEditor release]; }

  • Displaying timecode using NSTimer and NSDateFormatter

    - by Chris B
    Hi. I am very close to completing my first iphone app and it has been a joy. I am trying to add running timecode using the current time via an NSTimer displaying the current time (NSDate) on a UILabel. NSDate is working fine for me, showing hour, minute, second, milliseconds. But instead of milliseconds, I need to show 24 frames per second. The problem is that I need the frames per second to be synced 100% with the hour, minute and second, so I can't add the frames in a separate timer. I tried that and had it working but the frame timer was not running in sync with the date timer. Can anyone help me out with this? Is there a way to customize NSDateFormatter so that I can have a date timer formatted with 24 frames per second? Right now I'm limited to formatting just hours, minutes, seconds, and milliseconds. Here's the code I'm using right now -(void)runTimer { // This starts the timer which fires the displayCount method every 0.01 seconds runTimer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval: .01 target: self selector: @selector(displayCount) userInfo: nil repeats: YES]; } //This formats the timer using the current date and sets text on UILabels - (void)displayCount; { NSDateFormatter *formatter = [[[NSDateFormatter alloc] init] autorelease]; NSDate *date = [NSDate date]; // This will produce a time that looks like "12:15:07:75" using 4 separate labels // I could also have this on just one label but for now they are separated // This sets the Hour Label and formats it in hours [formatter setDateFormat:@"HH"]; [timecodeHourLabel setText:[formatter stringFromDate:date]]; // This sets the Minute Label and formats it in minutes [formatter setDateFormat:@"mm"]; [timecodeMinuteLabel setText:[formatter stringFromDate:date]]; // This sets the Second Label and formats it in seconds [formatter setDateFormat:@"ss"]; [timecodeSecondLabel setText:[formatter stringFromDate:date]]; //This sets the Frame Label and formats it in milliseconds //I need this to be 24 frames per second [formatter setDateFormat:@"SS"]; [timecodeFrameLabel setText:[formatter stringFromDate:date]]; }

  • How can I programmatically add more than just one view object to my view controller?

    - by BeachRunnerJoe
    I'm diving into iPhone OS development and I'm trying to understand how I can add multiple view objects to the "Left/Root" view of my SplitView iPad app. I've figured out how to programmatically add a TableView to that view based on the example code I found in Apple's online documentation... RootViewController.h @interface RootViewController : UITableViewController <NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate, UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource> { DetailViewController *detailViewController; UITableView *tableView; NSFetchedResultsController *fetchedResultsController; NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; } RootViewController.m - (void)loadView { UITableView *newTableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame] style:UITableViewStylePlain]; newTableView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; newTableView.delegate = self; newTableView.dataSource = self; [newTableView reloadData]; self.view = newTableView; [newTableView release]; } but there are a few things I don't understand about it and I was hoping you veterans could help clear up some confusion. In the statement self.view = newTableView, I assume I'm setting the entire view to a single UITableView. If that's the case, then how can I add additional view objects to that view alongside the table view? For example, if I wanted to have a DatePicker view object and the TableView object instead of just the TableView object, then how would I programmatically add that? Referencing the code above, how can I resize the table view to make room for the DatePicker view object that I'd like to add? Thanks so much in advance for your help! I'm going to continue researching these questions right now.

  • Adding a button inside an image.

    - by iSharreth

  • Getting info from NSData object

    - by Moshe
    How would I get returningResponse (into say, a NSString) from the following code: NSURLResponse* response; NSError* error; NSData* result = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:theRequest returningResponse:&response error:&error]; I think I can get the info that I need into a string but I can't call anything on response because it's null. Therefore, I assume that I need to call something on result. The problem is, I don't know what to call. (The URL request has been coded prior to the code sample. I know that that works.) I want to be able to detect if the request as successful.

  • Debuging to simulator crashes with "exited with status 5" unless I have breakpoint

    - by tigermain
    For some reason the app I am working on has very bad PMT! Literally! Most of the time I cannot debug using the simulator without putting a breakpoint in my AppDelegate. If I don't it exists with "status 5". If I put a break point in and simple continue it works perfectly well, it also works if I run the app in the simulator when not connected to the GDB. I have tried the source on a second machine with exactly the same results. I dont have this issue building to the device?!?!?! Thanks

  • How to add star rating to UITableView cell?

    - by RaYell
    I need to display a bunch of UITableViewCell in my iPhone application. Sample look below. I know how I can enable accessory view and image to UITableView cell but the problem is that I need to add a star rating as visible on the screen. There's no fancy logic behind it, it will just be few images that will be either enabled or disabled. I though that I could create a custom UITableViewCell in NIB but how would I use it in cellForRowAtIndexPath method. If it was just one custom cell I'd just provide an outlet for it and hook it with a property and use it there. But since it would be used multiple times I think I'll need to clone it or copy somehow. What is the simpliest way of adding such stuff to UITableViewCell?

  • Animation not playing

    - by Tate Allen
    Hello again, I didn't say this last time but I am relatively new to iPhone programming and extremely new to iPhone game development so bear with me. In my game, when I tilt the device, the character moves and faces the correct direction, but does not animate. I am using an animated UIImageView. Here is the code: float newX = character.center.x + (accel.x * 12); if (newX 30 && newX < 290) character.center = CGPointMake(newX, character.center.y); if (accel.x < 0) { NSArray *imgArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects: [UIImage imageNamed:@"run3left.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"run1left.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"run2left.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"run1left.png"], nil]; character.animationImages = imgArray; character.animationDuration = 0.5; character.contentMode = UIViewContentModeBottomLeft; [self.view addSubview:character]; [character startAnimating]; } if (accel.x > 0) { NSArray *imgArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects: [UIImage imageNamed:@"run3.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"run1.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"run2.png"], [UIImage imageNamed:@"run1.png"], nil]; character.animationImages = imgArray; character.animationDuration = 0.5; character.contentMode = UIViewContentModeBottomLeft; [self.view addSubview:character]; [character startAnimating]; } }

  • Cross developping targetting both Java Swing and GWT

    - by WizardOfOdds
    Does anyone know of any tool that can facilitate/ease porting of an app to both Java Swing and GWT? I've got a few "screens" that makes complete sense to have both in a desktop app and in a browser and I was wondering if there was some kind of common API that could be targetted that would facilitate creating these two different "views" (see my comment)?

  • Preserving alpha issues with loaded UIImages - how to avoid discarding alpha values on import?

    - by Peter Hajas
    My application lets the user save/load images with alpha values to the camera roll on the device. I can see in the Photos application that these images are appropriately alpha'd, as alpha'd areas just appear black. However, when I load these images back into the application using the valueForKey:UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage message to the info dictionary from (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info, the alpha values are turned to just white, making those sections opaque. Is there a way to preserve these alpha values?

  • Getting the Value of a UITextField as keystrokes are entered?

    - by Nocturne
    Let's say I have the following code: IBOutlet UITextField* nameTextField; IBOutlet UILabel* greetingLabel; I'd like the greetingLabel to read "Hello [nameTextField]" as soon as the user presses any key. What I need basically is the iPhone equivalent of the Cocoa delegate method -controlTextDidChange: The -textField:shouldChangeCharactersInRange: delegate method is called each time a keystroke occurs: - (BOOL) textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string The string argument returns the character that is pressed. The actual textField's value (nameTextField.text) remains blank however. What am I missing here? (I'd like nameTextField to reflect the exact string that the user has entered so far)

  • VerifyError When Running jUnit Test on Android 1.6

    - by DKnowles
    Here's what I'm trying to run on Android 1.6: package com.healthlogger.test; public class AllTests extends TestSuite { public static Test suite() { return new TestSuiteBuilder(AllTests.class).includeAllPackagesUnderHere().build(); } } and: package com.healthlogger.test; public class RecordTest extends AndroidTestCase { /** * Ensures that the constructor will not take a null data tag. */ @Test(expected=AssertionFailedError.class) public void testNullDataTagInConstructor() { Record r = new Record(null, Calendar.getInstance(), "Data"); fail("Failed to catch null data tag."); } } The main project is HealthLogger. These are run from a separate test project (HealthLoggerTest). HealthLogger and jUnit4 are in HealthLoggerTest's build path. jUnit4 is also in HealthLogger's build path. The class "Record" is located in com.healthlogger. Commenting out the "@Test..." and "Record r..." lines allows this test to run. When they are uncommented, I get a VerifyError exception. I am severely blocked by this; why is it happening? • Hiding a navigation bar via scrolling (safari style)

    - by eagle
    After a page is loaded in Safari on the iPhone, when you begin scrolling down, the navigation bar is also scrolled out of view. When you scroll back up, the navigation scrolls back into view. I'm looking to implement this same behavior using a UIWebView underneath the UINavigationBar, but I'm guessing it should be possible with any UIScrollView descendant. How can this behavior be implemented?

  • An equivalent of -javaagent in C#? Or: ways to use a java framework in C#.

    - by Alix
    Hi everyone. This is probably something I should be able to figure out by myself, but I'm not having much luck so I figured I'd ask. The issue: I'm translating a system from java to C# and they use a java framework that I'd really like to use, since it takes care of the most complex parts of the system, which I would otherwise have to implement myself. I have the source code of this framework. I know there are several possibilities for using java libraries in C# (although I'm not familiar with any of them, so I'd appreciate suggestions). So far I've thought of using IKVM.NET to generate a .dll, but I'm not sure what to do next, because in java in order to run the framework with your code you're supposed to use the option -javaagent by adding -javaagent:bin/deuceAgent.jar (where deuceAgent is the framework) to your java command line. I don't know what the equivalent in C# would be once I have my .dll, or whether there's an equivalent at all. Any help? Thanks so much.

  • Any way to trigger interface orientation check?

    - by Johnny Tee
    My app is going from a flipside view (only one orientation) to its main view (can have any sort of orientation. When I go from flipside back to main view, the main view's orientation is not checked and changed immediately. I need a way to trigger the built in orientation check that happens in willRotateToInterfaceOrientation so that the orientation is correct when the user goes from flipside view to main view. Any help is appreciated. I saw another question about this but didn't see a definitive answer. Thanks!
