    Hello, gcc 4.4.3 c89 I have the following code as a sample of what I am trying to do. I don't know the actual size of the array, until I enter the function. However, I don't think I can set the array size after I have declared it. I need it global as some other functions will need to access the device names.     Is it possible to generate the cases for a switch in php using an array? Something like: $x=array( 0 => 'foo', 1 => 'bar', 2 => 'foobar' ); $y='foobar' switch($y) { foreach($x as $i) { case $x: print 'Variable $y tripped switch: '.$i.'<br>'; break; } } I would like to be able to pull the case values from a database and loop through them with a while() loop.

    I have a matrix, IEnumerable<IEnumerable<int>> matrix, for example: { {10,23,16,20,2,4}, {22,13,1,33,21,11 }, {7,19,31,12,6,22}, ... } and another array: int[] arr={ 10, 23, 16, 20} I want to filter the matrix on the condition that I group all rows of the matrix which contain the same number of elements from arr. That is to say the first row in the matrix {10,23,16,20,2,4} has 4 numbers from arr, this array should be grouped with the rest of the rows with 4 numbers from arr. better to use linq, thank you very much!

    I'm a beginner in jQuery area and I have simple question like this : I want to load (AJAX) MySQL result in array, let's say : $row[0] = first name $row[1] = last name $row[2] = phone number I have no problem with PHP part, but I have difficulties to display each of that array content on different id. because syntax I found loads everything processed by PHP : <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#mysql-result').load('ajax.php'); }); </script> how to get 'First Name', 'Last Name' and 'Phone Number' from PHP with only one time load and still I can put the result in different . thank you.

    Is it possible to add a method to an array() in javascript? (I know about prototypes, but I don't want to add a method to every array, just one in particular). The reason I want to do this is because I have the following code function drawChart() { //... return [list of important vars] } function updateChart(importantVars) { //... } var importantVars = drawChart(); updateChart(importantVars); And I want to be able to do something like this instead: var chart = drawChart();<br> chart.redraw(); I was hoping there was a way I could just attach a method to what i'm returning in drawChart().     Hello, I have got four classes A, B, C and D. Class A has a member b of class B. Class B has a member c of class C. A has a member D* dpointer; This hierarchy has to be preserved (in fact this is a GUI with app, window, panel as A, B and C). Now B and C must use a method from *dpointer. Is there something more elegant than giving dpointer as a member of B and C ?

Is calling a method through an object's constructor slower than calling the same method many times for one particular object instantiation? In other words, is this: for(int i = 0; i < myData.Count; i++) myClass someObject = new myClass(myData[i]); slower than this: myClass someObject = new myClass(); for(int i = 0; i < myData.Count; i++) someObject.someFunction(myData[i]); ? If so, how much slower?

    Is there an easy way to dump an array returned from mysql_fetch_row into a CFArray? (part of the PHP implementation of CFPropertyList) I'm bummed by the lack of documentation on CFPropertyList for PHP. Iterating through each item in the array seems inefficient. I'm open to using a different mysql_fetch_... command. I'd like to just say: $NewArray = new CFArray( $ResultArray ) But that deosn't seem to work.     I have ExtJS based application. I have compound object on the server side, and have ExtJS window with few tabs for editing different parts of this one object. For example: I Have Compound object "Car" public class Car { public string Name; public string Color; public List Wheels; public List Doors; } And on my ExtJS window i have tabs ("General Info", "Wheels", "Doors") for editing different parts of this object. So what i want: When i want to create a new car i want to generate JSON configuration for my class "Car" like {Name:null; Color:null; Wheels:[]; Doors:[]} then sent it to the client, fill it on the client (without callbacks to server) and after user finishes creating his Car object (he added wheels, doors, set name and color) and press save, I want to sent this filled(generated) JSON object to server and save it to DB.   • How do you send an array as part of an (jquery) ajax request

    I tried to send an array as part of an ajax request like this: var query = []; // in between I add some values to 'query' $.ajax({ url: "MyServlet", data: query, dataType: "json", success: function(noOfResults) { alert(noOfResults); } }); } I wanted to see what I get back in the servlet, so I used this line: System.out.println(request.getParameterMap().toString()); Which returned {} suggesting an empty map. Firebug tells me I am getting a 400 bad request error If I send a queryString like attribute=value as the 'data' then everything works fine, so it has to do with not being able to send an array as is. What do I have to do to get that data into the servlet for further processing. I don't want to pull it out and turn it into a queryString in the JS if I can avoid it. EDIT: I used the .serializeArray() (jQuery) function before sending the data. I don't get the 400 but nothing useful is being sent through.

    I have the following class as part of an asp.net application. public sealed class SomeClass { private static string appId = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); public static ReadSomethingFromDb(){} public static WriteSomethingToDb(){} } There are more than one application instances in the same application pool, and they all access the same database. I want the operations performed by the above class to be uniquely tied to the instance that performed it, hence the use of the appId. So adding a record to the database would for example contain a name, address and appId. This has been simplified for discussion purposes. Assuming that I have two instances running at mysite.a and mysite.b the above class would generate two different guids. My problem is that mysite.a sometimes produces more than one guid, which is unexpected. Thank you in advance

  • C++: What is the size of an object of an empty class?

    I was wondering what could be the size of an object of an empty class. It surely could not be 0 bytes since it should be possible to reference and point to it like any other object. But, how big is such an object? I used this small program: #include <iostream> using namespace std; class Empty {}; int main() { Empty e; cerr << sizeof(e) << endl; return 0; } The output I got on both Visual C++ and Cygwin-g++ compilers was 1 byte! This was a little surprising to me since I was expecting it to be of the size of the machine word (32 bits or 4 bytes). Can anyone explain why the size of 1 byte? Why not 4 bytes? Is this dependent on compiler or the machine too? Also, can someone give a more cogent reason for why an empty class object will not be of size 0 bytes?
