  • How to find the last user logged onto a computer in Active Directory?

    - by hamstar
I was wondering if there was a way in Active Directory to query a Computer object to find the last user who logged on. Poor asset tracking has left me with a couple of un-locatable machines and I would like to know who used them last. Thanks Edit: Just to clarify, I can't find the machines physically and it doesn't look like its been powered on for a while, that's why I want to know who had them last so I can query them.

    - by iconiK
I am building a mid-range computer primarily for gaming and graphic design. • Login to a Windows 7 Computer with disabled Administrator account.

    - by sirlancelot
I just built a Windows 7 Image using sysprep and a custom answer file that's supposed to attach to our domain. However, it did not attach to the domain and so I have a computer that has been automatically setup via unattend.xml and is sitting at a login screen; with no active users (Administrator account says it is disabled). Is there a way I can activate the Administrator account and rescue this machine or do I have to rebuild it from scratch?

  • Adding the domain account to a security group on the SQL Server computer that has sufficient privileges to log on as a service

    - by Alberto
After reading this article, http://www.red-gate.com/supportcenter/content/knowledgebase/SQL_Backup/KB200710000173 I have some problems configuring point 2) and 3): 2) Create a SQL Server login that has the ability to backup (and restore) databases (y) by adding it to the SYSADMIN server role. 3) Add the domain account (x) to a security group on the SQL Server computer that has sufficient privileges to log on as a service, etc. Where can I find detailed instructions on how to accomplish them? Thanks.

  • Can i install wamp and xampp on same computer?

    - by mysqllearner
Currently I am using wamp 2.X, and been using it for 1 year. Recently I found this XAMPP, and it looks pretty good (well, I could say AWESOME), can I install XAMPP and WAMP on same computer? Will it crash or conflict each other? I already back up my wamp files, but I just dont want to waste my time to install and uninstall and install again. Thats why I am asking this question here.

  • How can I make my livebox route to my external IP address for a computer in the DMZ?

    - by Noli
I have a sagem livebox 2 (Fiber optic model), and have placed my computer in a DMZ. People from outside of my network can access my comp fine via its external dyndns.org address, yet when I try to call the public dyndns.org address from inside my network, I get redirected to the internal admin site on the router. How can I make it so that I can see my comp from the public address like everyone else? What kinds of questions should I be asking or looking into? Thanks

  • Using off-the-shelf hardware for brand-name servers; Possible? Good idea?

    - by threecheeseopera
Is it possible or advisable to use 'regular' not-sanctioned-by-the-server-manufacturer hardware in high end servers? Often these manufacturer-supplied parts have a very high price markup, and I wonder if it's always necessary (understanding that they probably apply more rigorous requirements to this hardware). For example, Dell sells 300GB 15,000rpm serial-attached scsi drives for a certain server family for almost $600 each, while newegg sells a drive with the same specs for almost half the price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822116059. Do we really need to pay these high markups, especially for disks that are likely RAID-ed and so guarded against catastrophic failure?

  • wireless usb hub with the hub on the computer side - does this exist?

    - by Mala
Hi I'm looking for what is effectively a wireless usb hub, but where the "hubbing" part takes place on the computer-side. In other words, something like this: http://www.iogear.com/product/GUWH104KIT/ Except rather than all four "terminating" slots being connected, having 4 small "wireless terminals" so that the devices can be placed all over a room instead of all within reach of the wireless usb hub Does such a product exist? Thanks!

It has a GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 Motherboard and Intel Core i5-2500K CPU. Thanks....RDK45

  • Is there a way to see what shutdown the computer?

    - by Celeritas
I had many programs opened and was typing a message in my web browser and suddenly a window asking me something popped up. I think I was in the middle of typing the word "for" but whatever button I hit seemed to be the confirmation to shutdown the computer. Is there a way to find which program caused this and prevent it in the future? I have a hunch it was JDownloaders fault. I'm using Windows 7.

  • How to sleep computer via batch file? (Windows 7)

    - by Saebin
So I want to make a batch file that will sleep my computer after a period of time. The closest thing I have found is placing it in standby, but seems to work differently then the sleep button on my keyboard (longer bootup, doesn't wake on mouse click). Any ideas? Would it be easier in python or c#? The less then ideal technique mentioned above is calling this in the cmd prompt: Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState
