• Page displaying sections using opacity in CSS3 but without navigating or scrolling down [closed]

  Here is my app - http://www.shalgreetings.com/ I am trying to override the scroll bar going down to a imagesection in CSS, so that whole app is visible with logo, header and other controls all the times when people navigate through different #sections. I am not sure where in the CSS, I am making the mistake as clicking on #sections traverses the page. Here is this app's original inspiration code, which has got this right. Anyone can point me where the problem seems to be in the above app?

• Would google consider this a "link scheme"?

  I work for a County Government. In an effort to improve our search engine rankings I was considering contacting some of the other Counties in my state and seeing if we could setup an arrangement where we link to them and they link to us. It seems like a reasonable thing to have a "Other Counties" page with various links on a County website, but it also seems like it's bordering on a link scheme according to Google. When I read Google's article about link schemes it seems like we hit some of the right reasons for having links on another County's site but also some of the wrong. Does anyone have any insight into whether this is a good or bad idea?

How can I allow a specific domain to be whitelisted and allowed through the MTA? • Why my site is not ranking for particular keyword

  My site is only 3 days to be 6 months old. This website is unique, that is there is no competitor to this type site in India, providing comparison of payment gateways in India, besides the payment gateways companies itself. I've optimized it for key word : "payment gateway" I've changed the url's twice, latest being 3 months back, in which case Google Webmaster gave plently of 404's. I corrected the useful 404's and left meaningless ones as it is. What is the reason it's not ranking well for payment gateways? Even site with single page about "Payment gateways" seem to be ranking better than this. Is it does to: 1) Lot of outbound links to in-context companies and information 2) 404's as reported in Google Webmaster My another site is successfully getting 1500 unique visitors daily and is up in Google ranking. I don't know why it is not!

• Is there a way to add Google Docs-like comments to any web page?

  You know the comments on Google Docs word processing documents? And how it creates a little discussion over in the right-hand margin? I love it. Great for collaboration. I want to free it from Google Docs so I can use it with clients to discuss mock-ups or scaffolded websites. Searching Google for "add comments [or discussions] to any website" only gets you results for adding blog-like comments (Disqus, JS-Kit, etc.) Anyone know of a solution for what I'm after here?

• Wordpress .htaccess preventing subfolder access

  This is sort of a goofy setup, but it's not in my power to reconfigure it at this time. I'm running in a shared hosting environment. The domain is example.com. This is an add-on domain on the host side with example.com being redirected to the www/example.com sub-directory. That directory houses a standard Wordpress site which acts as the main site when you visit example.com. What I think I need is a rewrite rule in the Wordpress .htaccess file that short circuits the existing rewrite rules and permits example.com/tracker to work independently of the Wordpress install. Or a rewrite rule at the root level that short circuits the redirect to the /example.com directory in the first place. Not sure how well I explained that so here's a summary. The www/ directory structure: example.com/ tracker/ Add on domain of www.example.com redirecting to the /example.com directory with Wordpress and a tracker/ directory running CakePHP which I would like to access via www.example.com/tracker. • How to easily delete all email forwarders in cPanel?

  I know that I can import a list of email forwarders using CPanel, but how can I delete a list? I want to manage 300+ addresses - as a membership list for my organization. I want to be able to delete that many without clicking 'Delete' and then 'Confirm' (or whatever it is) 300 times. Even if I am able to simply delete ALL forwarders, then upload a modified list - that's fine with me. Note: I'm using a shared hosting package through SiteGround. The tech service rep informed me that I can't use CPanel scripts in a shared environment. Any suggestions?

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. If I remove parameters which are returned by OpenID provider, the page run well. I also tried forwarding it to http://www.otherwebsite.com as an experiment (i.e. forwarding to another site that does not use SSL), but the result was the same: Visiting http://mywebsite.com redirected to http://www.otherwebsite.com as expected. Visiting https://mywebsite.com would freeze and time out again. So I set up essayme.co.uk as an experiment to try and understand why it doesn't work.

• AdWords Keyword Tool planner CPC completely different to real CPC?

  I'm new to AdWords, and trying to figure out the best keywords to use. I go to Adwords Keyword Planner, and typed in an example keyword. It gives me an average CPC of $0.94. But when I go to set up a real campaign and type it the same keyword, I get an error saying 'below first page bid estimate' which is $8.75. What gives? Is there a better way to get more accurate feedback on how much this will cost?

• Are you aware of any client-side malware that sends lots of junk requests for .gifs?

  I am getting dozens of 404 errors on my site that are requests for gif's with apparently random names, like 4273uaqa.gif and 5pwowlag.gif. I see that most of them are coming from one user. I assume something is happening in the background on her machine without her knowledge -- a malware thing on the client. Have you seen this behavior before, and do you know what sort of malware might cause it? Would love to advise my customer that s/he has an issue. I'd also like to stop getting these 404 reports. • Google Goals process not working through similarly named pages

  Well, I'm at a loss. I've ensured that my tracking script is in etc etc, and I've set up my goal and funnel path, but only the first step is ever being shown on the funnel. Goal URL: /checkout/checkoutComplete/ Type: Head Match ... but should this be /checkout/checkoutComplete/(.*) and set to regex rather because there are parameters after the main part of the URL (I thought that's what head match was for) Step 1: /checkout/ <-- required Step 2: /checkout/confirm/ both the above are valid and correct URLs for my domain. But for some reason, the funnel visualization shows entries into the first step, then an exits count that matches the entry count, including /checkout/confirm - but it doesn't go on to the next step! Perhaps I'm doing something obviously wrong...but I can't quite see it? Also, semi-related questions. Making a change to the funnel, does it only affect new incoming data? And how often does it update? Thanks in advance for your help.

  We're currently implementing a voucher system on our site which will allow our users to obtain a 25+% discount on certain products, provided they donate 10% of the purchase price to charity. We will offer the ability to share the discounts via social media in return for larger discounts to the sharer for each person who clicks through the link and buys an item. I understand that social links have SEO benifits, but this appears to be based on lots of people sharing the same link. If our voucher users share a unique link i.e. http://ourdomain.com/sipsfesdf rather than a fixed link http://ourdomain.com/product-name will we still receive the same benifts? Should we instead share something like http://ourdomain.com/product-name/sipsfesdf Thanks in advance.

• Is there an easier way to implement 301 redirects when converting a site to WordPress

  I have just converted a website to WordPress. The old site has hundreds of hard-coded html files, and the new site does not match the old site's directory structure or file naming system (bad SEO in the original site), so I can't place any "blanket" 301 redirects. Its been at least 2 months, and the old links are still appearing in Google searches, despite a google-friendly sitemap.xml. Do I need to hardcode a 301 for every individual page in my htaccess file, or am I just misunderstanding 301s and apache? Is there some other way I can update Google about the fact that my entire site structure has changed?

  I've been working on various antispam measure in a phpBB3-based forum I host. Now I was thinking of an extension/mod that ties in with editing of posts (and later perhaps signatures/profiles) in that new text or edited text defaults to something like "not patrolled" and moderators could then in a special queue review text that contains links or similar item (based on heuristics). Now the question: does such a mod exist (I didn't find one)? If it does exist and anyone has used it (or them), please include your experiences with it in the answer.

  I want to build a website for a retro thing that was popular in the mid 90s (beginning of the commercial internet). So I want use old designs that was very popular at that time. The first thing that comes to my mind was those "under construction" animated gifs. People often put animated gifs everywhere. But also those awful repeating backgrounds. • Does google use chrome to check if a link is used by humans or just there for the bots?

  Does clicking a link in chrome tell google the link is used by humans and there fore not just automated backlink spam. It sounds weird but i read it today on a slightly obscure seo blog, they mensionned clicking the backlinks they make in a version of chrome where they have the "send data annonmusly to google" feature turned on. It sounded a bit far fetched but then i thought it could have a truth to it as with google now looking harder at "spammy" links it would mean at least some humans are using them. Has any one else heard anything else about this ?

These directories would then serve as first incoming links to your web site. How about today? I think download directories are pretty much dead? Do you think this is still good SEO approach today?   A small, simple site I am working on displays a single page with the day's best offers on it. The user is able to move back and forth between previous days. Which of the following URL structures works best? Structure 1 /index.html -- today's best offers /2013-06-29.html -- yesterday's best offers, etc. Structure 2 /index.html -- 302 redirects to /2013-06-30.html (or whatever today is) /2013-06-30.html -- today's best offers /2013-06-29.html -- yesterday's best offers, etc. I quite like structure 2 from the user's point of view (they can share content easily), but I am a bit concerned about updating the redirect from /index.html every single day -- would this perhaps have unintended SEO consequences?
