  • Animating removeFromSuperview

    - by brettr
    I'd like to animate the transition from a subview back to the super view. I display the subview using: [UIView beginAnimations:@"curlup" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp forView:self.view cache:YES]; [self.view addSubview:self.mysubview.view]; [UIView commitAnimations]; The above works fine. It's going back to the super view that I don't get any animation: [UIView beginAnimations:@"curldown" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlDown forView:self.view cache:YES]; [self.view removeFromSuperview]; [UIView commitAnimations]; Is there something different I should be doing to get the subview to animate when removed?

  • Why I got some memory problems?

    - by Tattat
    I got this error from XCode: objc[8422]: FREED(id): message release sent to freed object=0x3b120c0 I googled and find that is related to the memory. But I don't know which line of code I go wrong, any ideas? @implementation MyAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // Override point for customization after app launch [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; [self changeScene:[MainGameMenuScene class]]; } - (void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } - (void) changeScene: (Class) scene { BOOL animateTransition = true; if(animateTransition){ [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:window cache:YES]; //does nothing without this line. } if( viewController.view != nil ) { [viewController.view removeFromSuperview]; //remove view from window's subviews. [viewController.view release]; //release gamestate } viewController.view = [[scene alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, IPHONE_WIDTH, IPHONE_HEIGHT) andManager:self]; //now set our view as visible [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; if(animateTransition){ [UIView commitAnimations]; } }

    - by ASN
    I have two nib files - Main.nib and Preference.nib In Main.nib file I have an instance of NSView class.Its window has a NSPopUpButton which on clicking shows a menu .In the menu I have show Preferences menu item. Menu item on clicking shows a preferences panel containing a color well item. On clicking color well a color panel is displayed to choose the color. The problem is how to apply that color to main application window. My preference panel window is in Preference.nib file. So problem is accessing NSView from another Nib Window. Is there a way so that I can make connection between preference panel and my main application window(NSView)

  • Setting UITableViewCell button image values during scrolling

    - by Rob
    I am having an issue where I am trying to save whether a repeat image will show selected or not (it is created as a UIButton on a UITableViewCell created in IB). The issue is that since the cell gets re-used randomly, the image gets reset or set somewhere else after you start scrolling. I've looked all over and the advice was to setup an NSMutableArray to store the button's selection state and I am doing that in an array called checkRepeatState My question is: where do I put the if-then-else statement in the code to where it will actually change the button image based on if the checkRepeatState is set to 0 or 1 for the given cell that is coming back into view? Right now, the if-then-else statement I am using has absolutely no effect on the button image when it comes into view. I'm very confused at this point. Thank you ahead of time for any insight you can give!!! My code is as follows: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // set up the cell static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"PlayerCell"; PlayerCell *cell = (PlayerCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (!cell) { [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"PlayerNibCells" owner:self options:nil]; cell = tmpCell; self.tmpCell = nil; NSLog(@"Creating a new cell"); } // Display dark and light background in alternate rows -- see tableView:willDisplayCell:forRowAtIndexPath:. cell.useDarkBackground = (indexPath.row % 2 == 0); // Configure the data for the cell. NSDictionary *dataItem = [soundCategories objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; UILabel *label; label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:1]; label.text = [dataItem objectForKey:@"AnimalName"]; label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:2]; label.text = [dataItem objectForKey:@"Description"]; UIImageView *img; img = (UIImageView *)[cell viewWithTag:3]; img.image = [UIImage imageNamed:[dataItem objectForKey:@"Icon"]]; NSInteger row = indexPath.row; NSNumber *checkValue = [checkRepeatState objectAtIndex:row]; NSLog(@"checkValue is %d", [checkValue intValue]); // Reusing cell; make sure it has correct image based on checkRepeatState value UIButton *repeatbutton = (UIButton *)[cell viewWithTag:4]; if ([checkValue intValue] == 1) { NSLog(@"repeatbutton is selected"); [repeatbutton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"repeatselected.png"] forState:UIControlStateSelected]; [repeatbutton setNeedsDisplay]; } else { NSLog(@"repeatbutton is NOT selected"); [repeatbutton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"repeat.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [repeatbutton setNeedsDisplay]; } cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone; return cell; }

Here’s the skinny: In this session the staff of the Oracle Social Developer Lab will present some social development tools that make integrating social functionality into your apps easier to achieve. This session kicks off a week-long hack to build an application using OSDL code. A winner will be selected and profiled in Java Magazine. I don’t have any more details on the prize, which is sure to be epic, so you’ll just have to attend the program. In the meantime, check out their Facebook page for more information. See you in San Francisco.

  • UIButton that cycles through images when clicked

    - by dot
    I have three images that I want to cycle through when clicking on a UIButton. How would I go about doing this? This is what I have so far, but it's not really working. //the images NSString* imageNames[] = {"MyFirstImage", "AnotherImage", whatever else}; int currentImageIndex = 0; and - (IBAction)change{ UIImage* imageToShow = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource: imageNames[currentImageIndex] ofType:@"png"]; if( currentImageIndex++ == sizeof(imageNames)/sizeof(NSString)) //check to see if you hit the last image { currentImageIndex = 0; //start over } } Ideas? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • What could cause a button on a UIActionSheet to "miss" on touches?

    - by Alex Gosselin
    I have a UIActionSheet as follows: UIActionSheet *sheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:[NSString stringWithFormat: @"Cancel New %@? Changes will be lost.", [creator propertyName]] delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Stay Here" destructiveButtonTitle:@"Discard and Close" otherButtonTitles:@"Save and Close", nil]; [sheet showInView:self.view]; [sheet release]; It creates the action sheet, The buttons display, the Destructive button is on top, cancel button is on the bottom, other button (save and close) shows up in the middle, the top two buttons, (destructive and other) work fine, but the bottom button has a gap, so it is farther down than the other buttons. For some reason though, in order to press the button I need to touch where it would be if there was no gap. Touching the actual button doesn't work. Sorry if this isn't super clear, has anyone encountered something like this? I don't like to whip out the "I found a bug" card too fast, maybe I'm doing something wrong here.

  • problem with custom NSProtocol and caching on iPhone

    - by TomSwift
    My iPhone app embeds a UIWebView which loads html via a custom NSProtocol handler I have registered. My problem is that resources referenced in the returned html, which are also loaded via my custom protocol handler, are cached and never reloaded. In particular, my stylesheet is cached: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./styles.css" /> The initial request to load the html in the UIWebView looks like this: NSString* strUrl = [NSMutableString stringWithFormat: @"myprotocol:///entry?id=%d", entryID ]; NSURL* url = [NSURL URLWithString: strUrl]; [_pCurrentWebView loadRequest: [NSURLRequest requestWithURL: url cachePolicy: NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringLocalCacheData timeoutInterval: 60 ]]; (note the cache policy is set to ignore, and I've verified this cache policy carries through to subsequent requests for page resources on the initial load) The protocol handler loads the html from a database and returns it to the client using code like this: // create the response record NSURLResponse *response = [[NSURLResponse alloc] initWithURL: [request URL] MIMEType: mimeType expectedContentLength: -1 textEncodingName: textEncodingName]; // get a reference to the client so we can hand off the data id client = [self client]; // turn off caching for this response data [client URLProtocol: self didReceiveResponse:response cacheStoragePolicy: NSURLCacheStorageNotAllowed]; // set the data in the response to our jfif data [client URLProtocol: self didLoadData:data]; [data release]; (Note the response cache policy is "not allowed"). Any ideas how I can make it NOT cache my styles.css resource? I need to be able to dynamically alter the content of this resource on subsequent loads of html that references this file. I thought clearing the shared url cache would work, but it doesnt: [[NSURLCache sharedURLCache] removeAllCachedResponses]; One thing that does work, but it's terribly inefficient, is to dynamically cache-bust the url for the stylesheet by adding a timestamp parameter: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./styles.css?ts=1234567890" /> To make this work I have to load my html from the db, search and replace the url for the stylesheet with a cache-busting parameter that changes on each request. I'd rather not do this. My presumption is that there is no problem if I were to load my content via the built-in HTTP protocol. In that case, I'm guessing that the UIWebView looks at any Cache-Control flags in the NSURLHTTPResponse object's http headers and abides by them. Since my NSURLResponseObject has no http headers (it's not http...) then perhaps UIWebView just decides to cached the resource (ignoring the NSURLRequest caching directive?). Ideas???

  • svn vs git for the sole developer? [closed]

    - by nattyP
    If I am sole developer (I do not work in a team) working from my laptop (Windows OS and Linux VM) and backing up data to the cloud (Dropbox etc), then is git still better than svn for my version control needs? I was thinking not since I wont need any of git's distributed features. But is git such a better approach to version control that I should consider moving anyway? With so many articles saying how people are moving from svn to git? I was wondering, if they are talking about large or open projects with teams of developers vs the sole developer. What do you think?

  • Enhanced Podcasts and MPMoviePlayerViewController

    - by Ben Robinson
    Hi, This is a bit of an odd/specific one - possibly a bug? I'm using MPMoviePlayerViewController to play a variety of files, including Enhanced Podcasts - these are audio files, but with a slideshow of images, often created using GarageBand. Until (i think) iOS 3.2 they weren't supported at all, now they are and play fine in the iPod app, but in my app the slideshow doesn't start, the full screen movie player opens, and the audio begins, but all I see is the QuickTime logo. If I scrub the track the pictures appear - and will continue to play correctly - but I see nothing if I don't scrub! Any ideas?? On a related note, these files also include a small rectangluar button containing an (i) button on the right hand side - anybody know what it is or should do?! It does nothing for me!

  • Release objects before returning a value based on those object?

    - by Moshe
    Consider the following method, where I build a string and return it. I would like to release the building blocks of the sting, but then the string is based on values that no longer exists. Now what? Am I leaking memory and if so, how can I correct it? - (NSString) getMiddahInEnglish:(int)day{ NSArray *middah = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"Chesed", @"Gevurah", @"Tiferes", @"Netzach", @"Hod", @"Yesod", @"Malchus"]; NSString *firstPartOfMiddah = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@", [middah objectAtIndex: ((int)day% 7)-1]]; NSString *secondPartOfMiddah = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@", [middah objectAtIndex: ((int)day / 7)]]; NSString *middahStr = [NSString string@"%@ She'bi@%", firstPartOfMiddah, secondPartOfMiddah]; [middah release]; [firstPartOfMiddah release]; [secondPartOfMiddah release]; return middahStr; }

  • moving a sprite causes jerky movement

    - by mac_55
    I've got some jerky movement of my sprite. Basically, when the user touches a point on the screen, the sprite should move to that point. This is working mostly fine... it's even taking into account a delta - because frame rate may not be consistant. However, I notice that the y movement usually finishes before the x movement (even when the distances to travel are the same), so it appears like the sprite is moving in an 'L' shape rather than a smooth diagonal line. Vertical and horizontal velocity (vx, vy) are both set to 300. Any ideas what's wrong? How can I go about getting my sprite to move in a smooth diagonal line? - (void)update:(ccTime)dt { int x = self.position.x; int y = self.position.y; //if ball is to the left of target point if (x<targetx) { //if movement of the ball won't take it to it's target position if (x+(vx *dt) < targetx) { x += vx * dt; } else { x = targetx; } } else if (x>targetx) //same with x being too far to the right { if (x-(vx *dt) > targetx) { x -= vx * dt; } else { x = targetx; } } if (y<targety) { if (y+(vy*dt)<targety) { y += vy * dt; } else { y = targety; } } else if (y>targety) { if (y-(vy*dt)>targety) { y -= vy * dt; } else { y = targety; } } self.position = ccp(x,y); }

  • Where is the leak?

    - by Horatiu Paraschiv
    UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(targetSize); //instruments show here a leak 128bytes CGRect thumbnailRect = CGRectZero; thumbnailRect.origin = thumbnailPoint; thumbnailRect.size.width = scaledWidth; thumbnailRect.size.height = scaledHeight; [sourceImage drawInRect:thumbnailRect]; newImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); Hi I'm trying to scale a UIImage so I load it with [UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]; and then pass it into a method. In that method I have the code above that resizes my image and at the end of the method I have a return newImage; The instruments show me a leak at line UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(targetSize); //instruments show here a leak 128bytes What am I doing wrong? Where exactly is the leak?

  • How to smooth the edge of a zig-zag line?

    - by Horace Ho
    Currently I draw a zig-zap line by CGContextMoveToPoint, CGContextAddLineToPoint, and CGContextStrokePath, following touchesMoved events. How can I smooth the edges of the line? Such that when the user draw a circle-like shape, the circle can be more round'ed. The GLPaint example use OpenGL, is that the only way to do it?

  • iPhone noob - setting NSMutableDictionary entry inside Singleton?

    - by codemonkey
    Yet another iPhone/Objective-C noob question. I'm using a singleton to store app state information. I'm including the singleton in a Utilities class that holds it (and eventually other stuff). This utilities class is in turn included and used from various view controllers, etc. The utilities class is set up like this: // Utilities.h #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface Utilities : NSObject { } + (id)GetAppState; - (id)GetAppDelegate; @end // Utilities.m #import "Utilities.h" #import "CHAPPAppDelegate.h" #import "AppState.h" @implementation Utilities CHAPPAppDelegate* GetAppDelegate() { return (CHAPPAppDelegate *)[UIApplication sharedApplication].delegate; } AppState* GetAppState() { return [GetAppDelegate() appState]; } @end ... and the AppState singleton looks like this: // AppState.h #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface AppState : NSObject { NSMutableDictionary *challenge; NSString *challengeID; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableDictionary *challenge; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *challengeID; + (id)appState; @end // AppState.m #import "AppState.h" static AppState *neoAppState = nil; @implementation AppState @synthesize challengeID; @synthesize challenge; # pragma mark Singleton methods + (id)appState { @synchronized(self) { if (neoAppState == nil) [[self alloc] init]; } return neoAppState; } + (id)allocWithZone:(NSZone *)zone { @synchronized(self) { if (neoAppState == nil) { neoAppState = [super allocWithZone:zone]; return neoAppState; } } return nil; } - (id)copyWithZone:(NSZone *)zone { return self; } - (id)retain { return self; } - (unsigned)retainCount { return UINT_MAX; //denotes an object that cannot be released } - (void)release { // never release } - (id)init { if (self = [super init]) { challengeID = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:@"0"]; challenge = [NSMutableDictionary dictionary]; } return self; } - (void)dealloc { // should never be called, but just here for clarity [super dealloc]; } @end ... then, from a view controller I'm able to set the singleton's "challengeID" property like this: [GetAppState() setValue:@"wassup" forKey:@"challengeID"]; ... but when I try to set one of the "challenge" dictionary entry values like this: [[GetAppState() challenge] setObject:@"wassup" forKey:@"wassup"]; ... it fails giving me an "unrecognized selector sent..." error. I'm probably doing something really obviously dumb? Any insights/suggestions will be appreciated.
