  In NHibernate you can map generics like this <class name="Units.Parameter`1[System.Int32], Units" table="parameter_int" > </class> But how can I map a class like this? Set<T> where T is a Parameter<int> like this Set<Parameter<int>> My mapping hbm.xml looking like this fails <class name="Set`1[[Units.Parameter`1[System.Int32], Units]],Units" table="settable"/> I simplified my mappings a little to get my point accross very clearly. Basically I want NHibernate to map generic class which has has generic type parameter. Want I understand from googling around is that NHibernate is not able to parse the name to the correct type in TypeNameParser.Parse() which result in the following error when adding the mapping to the configuration System.ArgumentException: Exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' was thrown. Parameter name: typeName@31 Anybody found a way around this limitation?

  I have been reviewing model binding with collections, specifically going through this article http://weblogs.asp.net/nmarun/archive/2010/03/13/asp-net-mvc-2-model-binding-for-a-collection.aspx However, the model I would like to use in my code does not implement collections using generic lists. Instead it uses its own collection classes, which inherit from a custom generic collection base class, the declaration of which is public abstract class CollectionBase<T> : IEnumerable<T> The collections in my POSTed action method are all non-null, but contain no elements. Can anyone advise?

• boost variant static_visitor problem picking correct function

  I'm sure I'm having a problem with template resolution here, but I'm not sure why I'm having the problem. I have a static visitor I'm passing to boost variant where i've had to do template specialization for certain cases. The case for everything except for MyClass should throw in the static_visitor below. Unfortunately, when the visitor is applied to pull a MyClass out, it selects the most generic case rather than the exact match. I would type each case explicitly, but that will be rather long. • Windows XP: Have my program run in kernel mode?

  I'm currently learning about the different modes the Windows operating system runs in (kernel mode vs. user mode), device drivers, their respective advantages and disadvantages and computer security in general. I would like to create a practical example of what a faulty device driver that runs in kernel mode can do to the system, by for example corrupting memory used for critical OS-processes. How can I execute my code in kernel mode instead of user mode, directly? Do I have to write a dummy device driver and install it to do this? Where can I read more about kernel and user mode in Windows? I know the dangers of this and will do all of the experiments on a virtual machine running Windows XP only

• samsung galaxy tab 4 not recognized by eclipse

  the just released samsung galaxy tab 4 tablet does bring up the 'autoplay' box with device options when connected, but is not being recognized by eclipse, nothing shows in the device window. I have enabled debugging on the galaxy tab, including tapping the 'about' box 7 times to make the developer options magically appear. it runs kitkat and the Samsung site has a 'no data available' under the driver tab for this device. since it just came out at target last week it's unlikely there would be a new driver anyway, which has been the usual suggestion for this question on older models.

  I need to open, read and insert items into an online SQLite database from an Android app. I know url, username and password. In JavaSE i would do the following: Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); Connection dbConnection = DriverManager.getConnection(URL, USER, PASSWORD); I read that I can't do this in Android because there is not a JDBC Driver (there is a "SQLite.JDBCDriver" but it is not documented and not recommended). So which is the easiest way? I asked to Google but it looks like he either doesn't know.

  I am extending the System.Net.Mail.MailAddress class to include an ID field, so I created a new custom MailAddress class that inherited from the existing class and a new custom MailAddressCollection class. I then overrode the existing System.Net.Mail.MailMessage.To to use my new collection. I would like to process the recipients in parallel, but I can't get the syntax right. This is the syntax I am using. • How to handle this "session failed to write file" error in PHP?

  I am using the Kohana 3 framework, and am using the native session driver. For some reason, occasionally the sessions fail to write to their file. Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/tmp/sess_*****, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /home/site/public_html/system/classes/kohana/session/native.php on line 27 I am pretty sure Kohana has its own in built error handler, but it is not triggered with this error (i.e. it shows up like a normal PHP error, not the Kohana error). Anyone that has ever used Kohana will notice this seems to have bypassed Kohana's error handling (perhaps set with set_error_handler()). Is there anyway to stop this error from appearing without switching from the native session (i.e. file based) driver? Should I just give good practice the boot and append an @ error suppressor to session_start() in the core code of Kohana? Should I relax the error_reporting()? Thanks

• int i vs int index etc. Which one is better?

  Coming from a C background I've always used int i for generic loop variables. Of course in big nested loops or other complex things I may use a descriptive name but which one had you rather see? int i; for(i=0;i<Controls.Count;i++){ DoStuff(Controls[i]); } or int index; for(index=0;index<Controls.Count;index++){ DoStuff(Controls[index]); } In the current project I am working on there are both of these styles and index being replaced by ndx. Which one is better? Is the i variable too generic? Also what about the other C style names? i, j, k Should all of these be replaced by actual descriptive variables?

• Detecting metadata-only read requests in windows filesystem

  Hello, I'm developing a kind of filesystem driver. All of read requests that windows makes to my filesystem goes by the driver implementation. I would like to distinguish between "normal" read requests and those who want to get only the metadata from the file. ( Windows reads first 4K of the file and then stop reading ). Does Windows mark this metadata reads in some way? It would be very useful in order to treat that two kind of operations in a different way. In a typical CreateFile call, we have AccessMode, ShareMode, CreationDisposition and FlagsAndAttributes parameters ( being DWORD ), i'm not sure if it's possible to extract some clue of the operation requested.   Suppose I have a class A. And B and C are child of A. Class A has a generic algorithm for sorting arrays of type A, so that I could use it for B and C without writing again the algorithm for each. In the algorithm, sometimes I have to swap. The problem is that I can only see the objects as type A, and if I do: A aux = array[i] array[i] = array[j] array[j] = aux I think I have a problem. Because array[i], maybe its of type B, and aux is of type A, so I think I'm losing information. I'm sure u understand this situation... how can I sort a generic array of objects using a father method algorithm?

• How to add javascript to YII correctly?

  I want to create several javascript function that will be needed on different pages. Most will be relevant only to one page, but some to several. I know if I add general conversion functions, it would be a good idea to just create a new javascript file and put all these generic functions into that one file. Bringing me to my first question: Where would you store the generic javascript file? In "protected"? Which subfolder? Then, I need to address the placement of other javascript code. If I have javascript that will only be used on one page, should I use this technique or should I stick to a similar approach as above? The emphasis is on doing it correctly. I want to fall exactly in line with the yii framework.

  Hello all, I'm working on an application that I'm going to write with C and i am considering to use a nosql db for storing timeseries data with at most 8 or 9 fields. But in every 5 minutes there will huge write operations such as 2-10 million rows and then there will be reads(but performance is not as crucial in read as in the write operation). I'm considering to use a NoSQL db here in order to store the data but couldn't decide on which one to use. Couchdb seems to have a stable driver called pillowtalk for C; but Mongo's driver doesn't look as promising as pillowtalk. I'm also open to other suggestions. What is your recommendation?

• Oracle Hibernate with in Netbean RCP

  All, i have a problem with hibernate using netbean platform 6.8, i have been search around internet, but cannot found the suitable answer This is my story. i am using oracle database as data source of my hibernate entity with ojdbc14.jar driver. First i create hibernate entity tobe wrapped latter in a netbeans module, i tested the hibernate connection configuration and everything just works well. i can connect to oracle database successfuly, every hibernate query works well. Then i wrapped that hibernate entity jar as a netbeans module, create another module to warp my ojdbc14.jar then i test it. and, im using hibernate library dependency that available on netbean platform (netbean 6.8), but unfutornatelly i got oracle sql error saying “no suitable driver for [connection url]” when running the project. thats quite weird since it doesn’t happend when I test it before with out netbean platform. i thought that is related to netbeans lazy loading issue, i am not sure,. any idea ? tq for help

• After upgrading to 2.6.35-24 kernel, why does adb no longer list devices?

  When I first installed Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit, I was able to see a physical Android device (connected via USB) in the Android Device Chooser (launched from Eclipse). But, after upgrading my kernel from 2.6.35-22-generic to 2.6.35-24-generic, no devices are listed any more, and I am unable to see any results when running adb devices like so: $ ./adb devices List of devices attached $ I have tried booting in the previous kernel version, but I get some udev error, so I was hoping I could get it working with the newer kernel version. I figured SO was the best place for this question, as it seems more developer related.

What would be the best solution to perform the regular import? Windows Service (using reference MySql.data dll) Windows Client (could make it automated) SQL Extended Stored Procedure (is it possible to reference the MySQL.data dll?) SSIS package - Install MySQL ODBC driver The problem with #4 is that I do not really want to support the ODBC driver on the sql server. I'm not sure if you can even reference the x86 MySql.data dll into a x64 sql server process for #3. (Or if you can even reference that dll within a sql server project)

I want to call some property of object like "obj.MyProp". And MyProp must be resolved at runtime with some generic or non-generic method. Is it possible?

  I have two tables: DRIVER (Driver_Id,First name,Last name,...) PARTICIPANT IN CAR ACCIDENT (Participant_Id,Driver_Id-foreign key,responsibility-yes or no,...) Now, I need to find out which driver participated in accident where responsibility is 'YES', and how many times. I did this: Select Driver_ID, COUNT (Participant.Driver_ID)as 'Number of accidents' from Participant in car accident where responsibility='YES' group by Driver_ID order by COUNT (Participant.Driver_ID) desc But, I need to add drivers first and last name from the first table(using inner join, I suppose). I don't know how, because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause. Please help :)

  I'm probably doing this completely wrong (the unhaskell way); I'm just learning so please let me know if there's a better way to approach this. Context: I'm writing a bunch of tree structures. I want to reuse my prettyprint function for binary trees. Not all trees can use the generic Node/Branch data type though; different trees need different extra data. So to reuse the prettyprint function I thought of creating a class different trees would be instances of: class GenericBinaryTree a where is_leaf :: a -> Bool left :: a -> a node :: a -> b right :: a -> a This way they only have to implement methods to retrieve the left, right, and current node value, and prettyprint doesn't need to know about the internal structure. So how can I write this to work whether the node value is an instance of Show or not? Or what other way should I be approaching this problem? In an object oriented language I could easily check whether a class implements something, or if an object has a method. I can't use something like prettyprint :: Show a => a -> String Because it's not the tree that needs to be showable, it's the value inside the tree (returned by function node) that needs to be showable. I also tried changing node to Show b => a -> b without luck (and a bunch of other type class/preconditions/whatever/I don't even know what I'm doing anymore).

• Disk operations freeze Debian

  Hi, I have just installed Debian testing on my new desktop and I am not very happy with performance - when I perform a disk intensive operation, e.g. upgrade packages in the system, everything seems to freeze, e.g. changing tabs in Iceweasel takes 3 seconds. I run the Debian on my 3 year old Thinkpad X60 ultra-portable, and I don't have these issues. (every single parameter of the laptop is much worse than the desktop). I am using the default packaged kernel and scripts. I run hdparm -t /dev/sda1 And I got around 96GB/s, which is expected. What else can I try to make it work better? • Blank black screen with cursor after login -- RHEL5

  I have a RHEL 5 machine here which is a Dell Precision T3500. I'm an Ubuntu guy, but I'm having a heck of a time with this machine. After processing its first security update, we cannot log in via the gdm greeter. A new kernel was installed; then I installed the nVidia drivers for our Quadro NVS 295. I know the X configuration is valid because the gdm greeter does display; however, upon login all we can get is a blank, black screen with a cursor. I thought perhaps our python installation was corrupted but a reinstall via yum has not helped. I have searched & googled extensively for a potential fix for this and can find nothing. Below are outputs from uname, a tail of an error in /var/log/messages, and the Xorg.conf. Can anyone suggest a course of action?
