  • Detecting what changed in an HTML Textfield

    - by teehoo
    For a major school project I am implementing a real-time collaborative editor. For a little background, basically what this means is that two(or more) users can type into a document at the same time, and their changes are automatically propagated to one another (similar to Etherpad). Now my problem is as follows: I want to be able to detect what changes a user carried out onto an HTML textfield. They could: Insert a character Delete a character Paste a string of characters Cut a string of characters I want to be able to detect which of these changes happened and then notify other clients similar to "insert character 'c' at position 2" etc. Anyway I was hoping to get some advice on how I would go about implementing the detection of these changes? My first attempt was to consider the carot position before and after a change occurred, but this failed miserably. For my second attempt I was thinking about doing a diff on the entire contents of the textfields old and new value. Am I missing anything obvious with this solution? Is there something simpler?

  • c# capture Ctrl+PageUp keystroke

    - by Axarydax
    Hello, I am having trouble capturing Ctrl+PageUp keystroke in a ListView control in WinForms application. I am using this code to capture keystrokes - private void ListViewEx_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { ... if(e.Control){ if((e.KeyCode ^ Keys.Left) == 0) MessageBox.Show("Left"); //shows messagebox else if((e.KeyCode ^ Keys.PageUp) == 0) MessageBox.Show("PageUp"); //does not ... } Do I need to dive into WndProc to process this key? Thanks.

  • document.onkeyup triggers when it shouldn't

    - by vonkow
    So I have the following code, which should append 'true' to the div "test" every 25ms as long as key 68 (the d key) is being pressed, right? <html> <body> <div id="test"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> var key=false; var keyDown=function(e) { if (e.keyCode==68) { key=true; } } var keyUp=function(e) { if (e.keyCode==68) { key=false; } } document.onkeydown=keyDown; document.onkeyup=keyUp; var run=function() { document.getElementById('test').appendChild(document.createTextNode(key+'\n')); t = setTimeout('run()', 25); } var t = setTimeout('run()', 25); </script> </body> </html> Save the code, load it in a browser and hold down on the d key. If I'm not crazy, you'll see that it occasionally appends 'false' even though the d key was never released. (I've tried this in FF and Chrome in Linux and Vista). Anybody happen to know why, or have a workaround?

  • Show last command with up arrow on a linux c shell

    - by nunos
    I have implemented a simple linux shell in c. Now, I am adding some features and one I immediately thought about was to be able to show the last commands with the up arrow. Question 1: However, I have no idea how to accomplish this. Do you? Question 2: Any comment on how to store the "history" commands are also appreciated. I suppose something like a queue which allows access to all elements would be a good idea. Am I wrong? Do I have to implement it or is there already some good implementation out there I should know about? Thanks.

  • Solving a math problem/expression, which is a string, in PHP

    - by Koning WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
    The user can enter a math problem (expression) like 5 + 654, 6 ^ 24, 2!, sqrt(543), log(54), sin 5, sin(50). After some reformatting (e.g. change sin 5 into sin(5)), and doing an eval, PHP gives me the right result: $problem = "5 + 5324"; eval("$result = " . $problem); echo $problem . " = " . $result; However, this is quite unsafe: /* If you read this, please, plz don't be stupid and DO NOT EXECUTE this code!!!!! */ $problem = "shell_exec('rm -rf /')"; eval("$result = " . $problem); /* Nukes system */ echo $problem . " = " . $result; Can anyone point me in the right direction parsing and solving a math question like the examples above, which is safe? Thanks.

  • Getting x/y coordinate of a UITouch...

    - by Tarek
    HI, I have been trying to get the x/y coordinates from a touch on any iDevice. When getting the touch locations, everything looks ok if the touch is in the middle of the screen. But if I drag my finger to the bottom of the screen, I can only get a y coordinate of 1015. It should be getting to 1023. Same thing for dragging my finger to the top of the screen. I get -6. It should be 0. I have explicitly set the window and views to an origin of 0,0 and the width, height of the device's screen. Still nothing. I am really lost on what might be going on. Is something shifted? Am I not reading the x/y coordinates properly. Does something need to be transformed or converted? Any help would be much appreciated. T

  • Python os.path.join

    - by Jim
    Hello, I am trying to learn python and am making a program that will output a script. I want to use os.path.join but am pretty confused (I know I am very bad at scripting/programming) See, according to the docs ( http://docs.python.org/library/os.path.html ) if I say os.path.join('c:', 'sourcedir') I get C:sourcedir as it's output. According to the docs, this is normal (right?) But when I use the copytree command, Python will output it the desired way, for example import shutil src = os.path.join('c:', 'src') dst = os.path.join('c':', 'dst') shutil.copytree(src, dst) Here is the error code I get WindowsError: [Error 3] The system cannot find the path specified: 'C:src/.' If I wrap the os.path.join with os.path.normpath I get the same error If this os.path.join can't be used this way, then I am confused as to its purpose According to the pages suggested by Stack Overflow, slashes should not be used in join--that is correct I assume? Thanks guys(girls) for your help

  • How can Request Validation be disabled for HttpHandlers?

    - by Mun
    Is it possible to disable request validation for HttpHandlers? A bit of background - I've got an ASP.NET web application using an HttpHandler to receive the payment response from WorldPay. The IIS logs show that the handler is being called correctly from WorldPay, but the code inside the handler is never called. If I create a physical ASPX page and set ValidateRequest=false in the header, and put the same code in the Page_Load method, the code is called without any problems. This solves the problem, though I'd prefer to stick with using an HttpHandler for this as it's better suited for this type of functionality, rather than having an empty ASPX page, though this is dependent on being able to disable request validation. The web application is using ASP.NET 2.0 and the server is IIS6.

  • Unrequired property keeps getting data-val-required attribute

    - by frennky
    This is the model with it's validation: [MetadataType(typeof(TagValidation))] public partial class Tag { } public class TagValidation { [Editable(false)] [HiddenInput(DisplayValue = false)] public int TagId { get; set; } [Required] [StringLength(20)] [DataType(DataType.Text)] public string Name { get; set; } //... } Here is the view: <h2>Create</h2> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.validate.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.validate.unobtrusive.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> @using (Html.BeginForm()) { @Html.ValidationSummary(true) <fieldset> <legend>Tag</legend> <div>@Html.EditorForModel()</div> <p> <input type="submit" value="Create" /> </p> </fieldset> } <div> @Html.ActionLink("Back to List", "Index") </div> And here is what get's renderd: <form action="/Tag/Create" method="post"> <fieldset> <legend>Tag</legend> <div><input data-val="true" data-val-number="The field TagId must be a number." data-val-required="The TagId field is required." id="TagId" name="TagId" type="hidden" value="" /> <div class="editor-label"><label for="Name">Name</label></div> <div class="editor-field"><input class="text-box single-line" data-val="true" data-val-length="The field Name must be a string with a maximum length of 20." data-val-length-max="20" data-val-required="The Name field is required." id="Name" name="Name" type="text" value="" /> <span class="field-validation-valid" data-valmsg-for="Name" data-valmsg-replace="true"></span></div> ... </fieldset> </form> The problem is that TagId validation gets generated althoug thare is no Required attribute set on TagId property. Because of that I can't even pass the client-side validation in order to create new Tag in db. What am I missing?

  • Ctrl-Backspace Visual Studio 2010

    - by Chris Watts
    I recently upgraded to Visual Studio 2010 and found out that when i press Ctrl-Backspace on a empty line it will delete the line, which is what it did in 2008, but then it will also delete the last character on the line above. I have tried to see if there is any settings anywhere but i cant seem to find any. Does anyone know if you can change this or did they make it default in 2010 Im using C#, if that makes a difference.

  • Is there a way to move two squares in OpenGL simultaneously?

    - by thyrgle
    Hi, so I have a function that handles key presses in a game I'm working on in OpenGL. But, the thing is that even though I have made two squares and they both move when the correct key is pressed only one square is moved. Is there a way I can make the two squares move. This is the glutKeyboardFunc function I implimented: void handleKeypress(unsigned char key, int x, int y) { switch (key) { case 27: exit(0); break; case 'w': glutTimerFunc(0.001, moveSquareUp, 0); break; case 'd': glutTimerFunc(0.001, moveSquareRight, 0); break; case 's': glutTimerFunc(0.001, moveSquareDown, 0); break; case 'a': glutTimerFunc(0.001, moveSquareLeft, 0); break; } } If you need any more code just ask.

  • PHP - HTML Purifier - hello w<o>rld/world tutorial striptags

    - by JW
    I am just looking into using HTML Purifier to ensure that a user-inputed string (that represents the name of a person) is sanitized. I do not want to allow any html tags, script, markup etc - I just want the alpha, numeric and normal punctuation characters. The sheer number of options available for HTML Purifier is daunting and, as far as i can see, the docs do not seem to have a beggining/middle or end see: http://htmlpurifier.org/docs Is there a simple hello world tutorial online that shows how to sanitize a string removing all the bad stuff out of it. I am also considering just using strip tags: http://php.net/manual/en/function.strip-tags.php or PHP's in built data sanitizing http://us.php.net/manual/en/book.filter.php

  • Android file-creation fails.

    - by Alxandr
    I use the following code to create a folder "mymir" and a file ".nomedia" (in the mymir-folder) on the sdcard of an android unit. However, somehow it fails with the exception that the folder the ".nomedia"-file is to be placed in dosn't exist. Here's the code: private String EnsureRootDir() throws IOException { File sdcard = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(); File mymirFolder = new File(sdcard.getAbsolutePath() + "/mymir/"); if(!mymirFolder.exists()) { File noMedia = new File(mymirFolder.getAbsolutePath() + "/.nomedia"); noMedia.mkdirs(); noMedia.createNewFile(); } return mymirFolder.getAbsolutePath(); }
