• help with click-to-copy-into-clipboard function and open new frame/page

  Hi, Im currently building a new discount-webpage and Im looking for a solution to be able to hover over a discount button to reveal a small text without clicking. And after clicking on the button that the text in the flash button is copied into the clipboard and a new page open with a small frame from my window with the new page underneith. examples of this kind of script can be viewed on this page: http://www.retailmenot.com/ on the yellow boxes with the discount text. Im not looking for a free script or for someone to do this for me. All I want to know if there is another language to do this with like possibly java? and maybe some links to tutorials. (the current page solves this with flash which I havent worked with before.)

  I've created an ashx page which is going to serve me an XML document full of basic user information. I'm not sure which is the best way to go about creating and populating my custom javascript object. I've seen them created in two ways: function User() { this.Id; this.FirstName; this.LastName; this.Title; } and var User2 = { Id: null, FirstName: null, LastName: null, Title: null } I could populate each of these by doing something like: //first object User.Id = 1 //second object User2.FirstName = 'John' Is one method of creating the object better than the other?

Parent has private var "_data" and private method "_test" and public method "add" Now the child have a public method "add", that uses the private method from the parent "_test" and the private var "_data". I currently have it working without using any grouping, but I would love to see a better way!   Hi, I need a Javascript random number scrambler for my website. Seems simple, but I can not figure out how to do it. Can anyone help me out? I have the following array of numbers: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 I would like to be able to have these numbers scrambled randomly. Like the following: 3 6 4 2 9 5 1 8 7 or 4 1 7 3 5 9 2 6 8 So, specifically, I would like a function that takes in an array of numbers (1 - n) and then returns that same array of numbers - scrambled randomly with different calls to the function. In Internet Explorer it's going through it and having no effect. I've put alerts at every line of the function and they all fire, even in IE, but the banner simply doesn't change. Is there any reason as to why this is so?

• Open Safari from within Opera Mini on the iPhone

  Now that Opera Mini is becoming so popular in the App store I want to effectively warn my web site visitors that the rendition they see in Opera Mini is far from what I meant them to see and redirect them to my page in Mobile Safari, so they can enjoy HTML5 and CSS3. I've been banging my head around that task all day long, but I can't seem to find a solution. My hope lies in the custom URL schemes, but seems Opera Mini handles all schemes which usually Safari does. Would be great if there's a scheme like safari://www.domain.com which opens ONLY in Safari, so I can redirect the visitors to it. Does anybody know a solution to that problem? --edit Just to make myself clear - browser detection is not the problem (I'm doing Javascript for 13 years now) the question is if there's a way to invoke the Safari app on the iPhone from within a web page which is being viewed in Opera Mini.

  I am using jQuery. I keep all of my function definitions wrapped in the $(document).ready event in application.js. I have a function from it that I would like to call somewhere in the body of the page I am working on. I was wondering if there is some alternative to the .ready event that will work on a script load. Ideally I would like to do something like: $('application.js').ready( call function ); In the jQuery documentation it only mentions the $(document).ready call but I was wondering if this can be altered or if there is some plain javascript alternative.

Include alert(0); to break the flow and find out what is happening. sometimes when i need multiple check points i do alert('the flow is now in function 1'); alert('the flow is now in function 2'); or sometimes just alert('success'); i would like to know if there is any standard way for debugging adopted as i am finding my current method very intrusive. thanks in advance..:)

  Hi all, I'm a bit new to Javascript and am trying to create a delimited string from a textare. The problem is when passing in the textarea, it adds newlines for each row on the textarea. I need to have the entire textarea parsed into a string with a delimiter for each line (replacing the newline char).   I'm starting to see more and more script references show up like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="//somedomain.com/somescript.js"></script> Note the lack of http: at the beginning of the src attribute. It seems to work fine and avoids the messy requirement of detecting http vs https, but I've never actually seen this uri format referenced anywhere. Where did it come from? Is this behavior documented anywhere? Is it guaranteed to work in any browser?

  For example, if you want information of PHP functions, you can go to http://www.php.net/ . If you want information of Perl functions you can to to http://www.cpan.org/ and/or use perldoc. If you want information on Java you can go to http://java.sun.com and/or use javadoc. However, if you want information on Javascript methods/functions and their attributes, return values, etc. where do you go? The reason I ask is I was playing with the "focus()" method and wondering if it could be passed any values or if it returned anything when called. I have done a cursory Google search but haven't found much. Does such a beast exist or am I out of luck? Thanks for reading, and have a good day.

  I've seen the answers for opening the Maps app in a native iPhone app, but is there any way to do this in a web app? I've tried changing window.location to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino for example, to no avail. I've tried using a simple anchor tag linked to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino, also to no avail. Has anyone gotten this to work before? I'm working on a map-heavy application, and I'd like to provide users with directions at the end. I figured it would be easiest to simply open it up in the Map application. Note: I'm currently testing with just the simulator, could that lead to problems? My iPhone is down for the count at the moment.

  I'd like to get the same behaviour of the native javascript scrollTo function in iPad, just attaching a function to the swipe event and scrolling the content a specific number of pixels. That doesn't work in iPad using scrollTo or several different jquery plugins, like scrollTo or iScroll. I think I'm having problems because I'm working with an iframe, as I have another html document in it, with its body divided in columns, but I'm just showing the first one. The point of all this is that, after swiping, it should show the next/prev column, and I tried scrolling the iframe window or the inner's html body, which actually works in chrome, but it doesn't in iPad.
